@GreenTeaSlug Yes I meant him! Thank you for info. That’s insane! I wouldn’t got him even if I wanted then, I tend to double or triple check everything. I see one simply cannot buy a Soom doll patiently.

And from what I’ve learnt it’s basically pointless to think about buying outfit too. Where do you guys buy clothes? I know there was discussion before and someone mentioned Freedomteller. But apart from them?

Also do 9-10 inches wigs from Soom Mega Gem work for Idealians too?

 

Received confirmation from SOOM: Hyperon will be release with scar head.
I do know that this will make many people happy!

Thank you for confirming! I was telling myself not to get my hopes up when I read that it couldnt be a scarface because of the eye shape, but Im very happy that @Zhenwu was right all along. Although generally, I think any form of Hyperon is beautiful and wont disappoint

does anybody know if a face up is included in the price? It doesn't really say. I love their brown tan. I wish it was a 72 but 75 would work with my anubis.

Wow...Actually I've never seen Brown Tan before. Does anyone know how it is compared to bronze in real life?

I have a brown tan DOTM Beryl. On her it's a cooler tone. Soom has always had problems with color consistency so I wouldn't bet it's the same. Just eyeballing it, it looks alot warmer and more bronze than my girl.

 

Thank you for the info! My friend just showed me 2 comparison pictures and they were not even close LOL. One was quite cool and dark as you described. The other one was almost the same as bronze, only a bit yellower...Personally I'm more interested in a cooler tan colour...

Oh no, why Soom no longer offering faceups? This makes me sad, where I live it's difficult to find a faceup artist

I’d prefer face up option too.

 

They rarely seem to offer faceups anymore and when they do, it seems to be part of limited sets, like they did with Allegro.

 

I saw that R.Dean just posted the face up on her Instagram. Thought I would post, since they show the skin color with different lighting.

I think I’m going to pass on Hyperon. But man, does he look good with that scar and brown tan.

 

In her lighting, I really like the skin tone. So pretty! I wasn't as interested in Soom's picture.

I wonder if we'll see more Brown Tan this year-- like last year kind of felt like the year of Gray. Will this year be the year of Brown Tan?

 

Maybe I can help : you can see my Dia in brown tan (special order from 8 years ago) in this thread. Be careful though : Soom isn't renowned for its consistency ! It's darker than a bronze and definitely waaay darker than a tawny :

I actually really want to purchase it, but with the price and no faceup? It's a little upsetting. I would have to ship my head to another country to get a faceup.

Does Soom have a release calendar for their Idealians anywhere like they don on their Gem site? I see people talking about it but I've never been able to find it XD

 

AFAIK they don't have a calendar for Idealians. Usually the only heads up we get is posts on social media such as Twitter and Instagram, I think.

(Uggghhhh I am dying of indecision over here. I want Hyperon so badly but this one is the scarred version and I'm after the OE. Part of me wants to just pull the trigger, since S.Hyperon is my second favorite version. But part of me wants to wait until I find my actual favorite. Especially because I'm still not a big fan of the 75cm body...Aksjfskskdhs)

 

@GammaVector I feel you here. I am thinking about getting him and modding him eventually. Though I can’t find as many pictures of OE hence I can’t decide whether I like OE more. Why you don’t like the body?

 

The body does have better engineering and some upgrades, but I don't like it for two reasons.

First off, one of the main selling points for me about the ID72 body is that it looks very realistic and has great proportions. The ID75 body is more stylized - the body is unrealistically "shallow" in profile, and the shoulders are too broad. Even Chris Evans, Dorito Extraordinaire, doesn't have a shoulder:hip ratio like that. The legs are also quite long, but I kinda like that. (I never claimed I'm not picky, lol)

And the second thing is that it's just Too Dang Tall. 72cm is about the largest I can comfortably handle, I think. And with the sheer Largeness™ of bodies like this, a few extra centimeters really is make or break, at least for me. If it weren't for the proportions/stylization issue, I could get on with it. But the combination of the two is...eh.

On the plus side, like I said, the new body does have some improved engineering, notably in the elbows and knees.

 

@GammaVector Well that’s true. Idealians seem to be veeeery muscular and thick guys. I have no experience with SD though so it can be a bit too much for me too. I’ve ordered LS boy and I when I saw body comparisons, well he looked kind of funny next to Soom.

Do they even make 72 idealians anymore?

 

Unfortunately, they haven't made ID72 in a few years now. I've been bugging them on the Q+A board about it in hopes they'll bring them back eventually. But sadly, it's probably not gonna happen...But still, a girl can dream!

Most 70cm guys are more in the LS category. Tall, leggy, and narrow. Willowy, maybe. It's a pretty aesthetic, I'll give it that. But I prefer the more realistic body proportions and larger heads of Idealian/EID/etc. (Especially because I'm super weirdly picky about scale, and Idealian/EID sized 70cm dolls look more in scale to me next to my Volks SD10s than most companies' 70cm "uncle" dolls do.) And IMO Soom's Idealians strike the best balance between realistic bodies (and gorgeous, elegant details - seriously, the level of detail on the Idealians is a thing to behold. If you've never seen on IRL I don't know how a description could possibly do it justice. They're stupidly gorgeous) and stylized faces. As much as I love looking at Granado boys, they're just a bit too butch for me to actually want one of my own. (Lol, now I've gone and cursed myself, haven't I? I'm doomed to fall in love with a Granado before the year is out)

There's definitely been some scale creep in the 70cm range these past few years, and I think that Soom's decision to go with a 75cm body over a 72cm one is because of it. And I suspect that at least the "shallowness" issue with the body is because those extra three centimeters really do add up, and it would just be too unwieldy if they hadn't fudged the proportions a bit. A while back in either this thread or the previous (I can dig up the link if you're interested), I was asking about comparisons between the 75cm body and the old 72cm one, and someone mentioned that the new body seems snugglier. I'd bet good money it's because the shallower body is easier to handle. But even though snuggliness is a (minor) selling point for me, I just can't quite get past the aesthetic! >>_<<

 

Haha. I have mostly LS bodies and two Idealian 75s. Snuggly is the perfect word! When I carry my ID75s, I fling them over my shoulder and they bend around it in a very cuddly way. They snuggle. Not stiff like my LS dolls. I always feel so motherly towards them as a result.

Basically - even though the ID75 is bigger, he is actually easier to handle, as his joints lock way better than the ID72 ones. But he's just- so- big

 

I have both ID72 and ID75 bodies. ID75 body sure big and heavy but I love the long legs and the shoulder. The ID75 body looks really good when put many styles of clothing on! The triangular body potion from shoulder to the abdomen, just make me swoon! LOL. For posing ability, well, I just have my way to work around it. I love everything about the Idealian boys that other things seem to not matter to me.

 

@GammaVector @meanae Oh thank you for that link. Awesome comparison. ID 75 really does seem big, I kind of start to worry about getting him together with Loong Soul 69 cm lady. He looks more athletic from the side which I probably like more. But they have both some great features! Decisions, decisions.

 

does anyone know if the Old Phonolus mega gem head is the same one has the NEW Ragnarok phonolus head? ( besides the ears of course)

I have Phonolus Ragnarok but I do not have the mega gem version to be able to compare it for you. I read on here, somewhere, that SOOM use the mega gem original head for the Idealian . One thing is that the brain part cannot be use and the S hook is needed to connect the head and body. Hope this helps!

Yep, same size. Oh and the new ID head didn't come with a brain. So no worries there. I have the beast from his original release and both of the new ones. I have to mod the beast parts slightly to get them to work for the 75 body. Then I can have some fun.

No. Just the formerly Megagem heads, like Ender or Phonolus, don't have brains.

 

@Twisty, He looks amazing. I really like him. I'm also a huge fan of ID72 and I wish this one in Tan brown would have been in that size. sigh.

 

Side note that my Jethro head (megagem head that SOOM used for ID75 release) is smaller in head size than the usual ID75 heads. I've found that the 8-9 inch wigs fit him better than the 9-10 inch.

Horus was up really quick after the teaser lol His surprised face is really amusing lol He looks so mischievous!
I ended up ordering the Scared Hyperon, as I couldn't resist the brown tan skin
I'm sad that it looks like they're removing faceup service! I hope this is temporary and once the pandemic is over, they'll start offering again
I finished my layaway for Zak in the beginning of the month, but it still says preparing for shipment. I think Zak is actually taking longer than my Phonolus, which I requested faceups for both heads! I'll wait one more week before contacting Soom on what's up, but I hope there's nothing wrong.

 

@remenNoodle Soom shipped my 4 dolls 8 - 8.5 weeks later after my last payment. They were blank and I do not know if you order the one with faceup, maybe that will take a bit longer. I too, ordered S. Hyperon and now I have to be good, Cant have another doll.
Here is my Zak, I received him beginning of March and just done with his faceup. I seem to spam him everywhere on the forum. I hope your come home to you soon!

I think I blinked and I missed Horus outfit. Hate when they such small numbers. I love Eyptians oufits so sad that I missed out. The price was a little eye opener. The two previous egyptian ID outfits were nowhere to that amount. Sucks that they are not doing face up as well. I do love Ender. Which they would have made him in tawny.

 

Since they are only making the big Idealians now...you would think Soom would be a little more....willing to sell more outfits than they do.

If I had one...I don't know what he would wear.

On the limited outfits, I think the reason is the same as the recent limited artist faceups; they're not done in-house, but commissioned so they probably can only get a limited number of units from the artist?

That does make sense about having to commission the outfits....but what was the actual number of outfits available? Less than 10?

It's too bad they can't take pre-orders and then get what they need...made. Since it takes several months anyway for the resin doll to be completed.

 

This. When I saw the Horus teaser I was pretty excited. Now I'm just scratching my head over what, exactly, makes him 'Horus' with neither the outfit nor the faceup. It's actually a little goofy, lol.

 

well they use to do that, but obviously no longer. Yep. It was 10 and sold out in 9 minutes. I guess my wallet was happy since it gave me an opportunity to add something else I really wanted for a long time. So it turned out okay and my other things wasn't even close to what Horus would have been. So yeah. Silver lining.

Yep. I completely agree. He's just Ender. LOL And I already have the my version of Lord of the Dead Ender which I just love.
