I'd also like to own a Dohwee. Their IG account havent updated for months now.

 

Hey guys!
Has anyone tried resin matching Dohwee with other company dolls?
I have the light peach head and I'm trying to find other bodies for it. It seemed like it matched ok with normal skin Fairyland dolls, but the neck part on those wouldn't allow me to attach the head (not S-hook). I'm interested in a Soul Doll body rn, but I really would appreciate any info.

 

From what I know from her twitter, she was really upset (and rightly so) about how quickly the doll got recast. She kinda halted stuff after that and just sent out all the orders from the second preorder and left. It was also around when the pandemy started, so it could be those restrictions as well.

 

Its just the 2nd pre order and it was recasted already? Those thieves.

I do hope she continues making Dohwee though. I'm still hoping to get one.

 

Oh my god, he's already been recast?? Urgh, that makes me so flipping angry. I'm so glad I got my boy when I did, but so sorry for her and the people who might miss out now

 

I'm glad I got him in time too. She was so unbelievably sweet and apologetic about delays and helped me out a lot. Seems like it just broke her will to continue. I was following her around the time she started sculpting him and it took her over a year to finish. Hoping with enough encouragement, she might come back this year

 

I envy you guys i didnt even know Dohwee until after the pre-order ended, and the recast news made me feel that I'd miss out on something great.it feels like a double whammy kind of blow.

 

I looked around on Obscure Kind's official IG and I saw that she was preparing another head sculpt (the post was posted on Sept 2019). I think the name is Hamyeong. She said that it would be Dohwee's friend. Maybe she's working on the new face?

That makes a lot of sense about why the artist disappeared and is so horrible!

 

I hope she's working on a new head and not just quit. He was so adorable as well! Also, if she never restocks Dohwee, I'm pretty sure there are people who bought extra heads and might sell them in the near future

 

Oh that's so sad he's being recasted! He's such an amazing doll, absolutely love him. I hope there'll be more orders in the future so more people could get him.

 

I've been checking in on this thread since I saw Dohwee on twitter a month or so ago and reading these recent posts is so sad, I can't even imagine how that must have felt for the artist... I'll hold out hoping that she's working on the new head, too!!

 

Oh, I just finally identified this sculpt as I had been looking for it after seeing it in on a Chinese forum, and I'm so devastated to read about Dohwee's artist and her experience casting her first doll, and seeing it get recasted... I understand her frustration ;; u ;; but like many others, I wish with all my heart for another Dohwee order! I'm sure a lot of collectors are waiting for her return to support her It's a gorgeous head with a superb body. I love how his ears stick out hehe!

I was just looking for more info on this sculpt because a friend of mine (who’s not in the hobby) sent me a pic he found online of Dohwee, and now I’m in love with the him! But I hate hearing about the recasting and artist’s disappearance I hope the artist will return with good news soon!

 

I discovered Dohwee through a Taobao clothing store and omg I fell in love with him at first sight. I registered this account to actually comment and read posts about him. I wish I could find him a little earlier. The artist has been absent for 16 months... Not sure they will have a third preorder of Dohwee or not Second handed Dohwee is too expensive on Xianyu, like x3 than the original price. I found them at $860 so I pray that the artist comes back soon. I love him so muchhhhh.

 

Oh wow, that’s really expensive! I really wish I’d gotten more heads instead of just one I have a feeling the artist might come back soon. A lot of artists stopped working on projects at the start of the pandemic but I’ve seen most of them slowly start to come back. I think last year was just so soul crushing. Let’s hope they come back because dohwee is so precious

 

Just like many I also thought of going the secondhand route for Dohwee but the prices are too much, and as @BlackCatNova said, I pray that the artist comes back so I can support them directly I am confident also that they will be back one day, and I don't want to overpay for a secondhand doll.. I would rather give that money to the artist directly to encourage them to keep making their art! Dohwee is incredible and one of a kind... I'm sure the artist has so much more to offer if they will come back to us! ^^

 

Agreed!! I wish there was some way that we could send this thread to the artist directly and say, “Please, come back! We all want to support you and your work directly!”

 

This is what I found on Chinese app Xianyu. The artist said that the mold was damaged last year. It's very unlikely they would make Dohwee again, maybe another boy... I still hope that they might release a small number of Dohwee 3rd orders. And I also believe their next boy will be cute. (I'm just loving Dohwee too much). I sent them the screenshot of our discussions, hopefully they checks the IG request mesages.

How much is the secondary pricing for Dohwee?
The original price was also quite high I think.

And although it is sad that there won't be a 3rd Dohwee, the artist showcased as very cute boy on their instagram feed before, I hope they produce that one!
But I feel like she has been gone for such a long time... maybe she gave up on it altogether?

 

The original price of Dohwee is not that high to me. I could handle it. Head and body second handed Dohwee is $800-900 on Xianyu and Twitter. Secondary price for Dohwee is crazy, it's too... high for a msd.

Hamyeong, the doll they might make is cute. But I really love Dohwee I wish that they will still produce a small amount of Dohwee when they come back.

 

@felix_h Oh yeah certainly, that is about double the price. :O
At one point after the second release, twitter had a bunch of Dohwees going for retail price, or price+faceup cost.
Now the price has climbed, but I can't say I'm surprised because Deok-hyeon completely disappeared.

 

the maker (Deok-hyeon) being out of reach makes the price higher. i see this trend on Culur dolls. i just hope that Deok-hyeon comes back

 

I really hope they do come back, it's such a shame so many people missed out on Dohwee, but I'd love the other sculpts they were working on too

 

ohh thanks so much for sharing @felix_h ! I agree that Hamyeong is also gorgeous; I would be happy to get either Dohwee or any other sculpt the artist decided to work on. I just wish they gave us a sign of life! If only they posted something on social media to let us know they are still crafting, it would make me so happy.

 

Dohwee is so cute, I didn’t know about him until this year when I saw a recast of him, I hope the artist comes back.

I vaguely remember seeing a post on instagram where the person used the Luts model delf tag for their Dohwee so that's a possible hybrid option. The measurements aren't too different either if I recall correctly. I might try getting a MDF slender type or Kid 45 body for my Dohwee but I probably won't get one until Luts has their winter event this year. For now, he's borrowing an old KDF body but the resin is a completely different color and I definitely want him to be taller!

 

I thought Dohwee stands at 48cm?

 

@ThatiRosen Yes, he is taller than most MSDs but his other measurements aren't too different from some of the 45cm bodies out there. His shoulders are about 1cm wider than the Luts MDF slender and Kid45 but the chest, waist, and hip measurements are around .5cm or less difference between the bodies. Neck measurement is the same across all 3 bodies too.

Another hybrid I was considering was with the Withdoll MSD body since the shoulder measurement is closer but I think the Luts bodies appeal to me more for Dohwee.

@ThatiRosen Oh, I don't have the original body! I was just comparing measurements from one of the artist's Naver posts. My Dohwee is just a floating head for now but I'm sure someone else can comment on the body's posing!

 

I keep checking in occasionally with the hope that I can finally get Dohwee… I hate not using social media or anything, because I don’t even know where I’d get him secondhand

I hope the artist comes back. They’re so talented, and I’m so sad recasts hit them so hard.

 

I think I saw someone put him on the 1/4 Charmdoll body. Can’t remember for sure but I’ll be getting one in so I’ll have to try the Dohwee head on it when it does come

However the shoulders and hands I ended up hot glue sueding to hold poses better. And the legs and elbows are peanut joint style

 

Is it just me, or does it seem like the artist’s Instagram might have been hacked…? The bio is different and looks really strange.

When you posted about that, I sent them an email to check. The e-mail bounced.
It looks like they have abandoned the account / company already.

The twitter is still up but she has not posted there either.

Nooooo T___T This is so sad!!! I was sitting around looking at dolls and just suddenly remembered about obscure_kind and dohwee and this just breaks my heart! Above all else, I hope the artist is doing alright but I'm also still sad to see that there may not be a return to the hobby from the artist any time soon

 

I checked the insta today and it looks normal again!

 

This really might be my ultimate grail doll.... His expression and ears are soo cute, and the sculpt work is amazing, especially on his hands. Really bummed about the recasting and disappearance of the artist. I hope they'll return one day, but if not I wish them well!

 

It’s nice to see Simply Meant To Be’s creator, Deok Hyeon has come back to their instagram. Hopefully in the future they will continue to sculpt. Though for now it looks like future preorders for Dohwee may not happen any time soon

 

I have Dohwee in light peach. Shoushou doll white resin seems close, same pinky tones just lighter I think with some blushing it’s not a bad match. Dream Valley normal pink also seems a bit close the color has just a bit more peachy undertones

The artist made a post this weekend, and is planning to open pre-orders for Dohwee in April. I honestly never thought this day would come, and was thinking of overpaying $500+ for a secondhand Dohwee head on the market. But now I'm so glad and hearing from the artist is just such exciting and warm news

If it says your order was "well received," pay what you ordered for by April 1st. She listed her Paypal email to send payment. If you asked for layaway, pay the first payment noted for head/full doll.

 

Ohh okay thank you! I was confused by the "thankful if you can request for me" and wasn't sure if I'm supposed to request to pay on paypal or something haha

 

I received an email saying my order was well received but it says she will send a payment request. What do I do in this case?

 

You should have received an invoice on Paypal. Did you get it? If not, message again.
