Show off your pets!

Aug 5, 2015

    1. oh dearr!!!! lol

This is Sebastian, aka Sebby-Kun. He's a polydactyl, with 2 extra toes on each front foot, and 1 extra toe on each back foot.

This is Butler, a 14 year old rescue eclectus parrot. Due to his previous ownership, the feathers on his neck will never grow back. He's a clown though, talks a lot and always keeps me company while I sew and craft (without the spray or fumes, of course! Fumes are very bad for birdies! and they cant wear masks!)

Odette, 10 year old rescue with hyperthyroidism. She only weighs 6 lbs. She needs medication daily to help with her hyperthyroidism. She's alllllways hungry! No one at the shelter wanted her because she was bitey and stuff... but once I got her home she's been such a cutie! She does have her moments of rage though XD

This is Shiloh. I went allll the way to CT to get her. She's extremely special. She was severely abused as a kitten, and the head trauma lead to depth perception problems and seizures. She is also on daily medication to help with her seizures.

Tigerlily, my mother-in-law's favorite! I thought she was a boy, and when I went to the vet they were like "SURPRISE! It's a girl!" Orange cats are typically male, a female orange cat is really rare, so I was shocked!

And last but not least, my baby feathered friend who has yet to be weaned. His name is Mickey, and he will be ready for me to take home in February. Mickey has what's called a scissor beak, which happens when hand-feeding is done poorly. His beak is slightly shifted to the side. While the caretaker is trying to fix it, chances are Mickey will need constant shaving of his beak for the rest of his life. But that's okay. He's still the best!

Husband also has a bunny, but he's really camera shy so I don't have a picture XD

    2. I love your island of misfit pets! :3nodding:

    3. this thread is the best!
everyone has such cute and unique pets~

here's my cat, Spotty. I catnapped her from the area surrounding my apartment building back when I was in 7th grade, she was a really little street kitten that was all alone.
She was never very social and really didn't like other cats but she did like me and some other people and she loved Nadeko (she would come sit between me and Nadeko on the couch).
Sadly she passed away from sudden liver problems early last year and I'm still very upset about it. She was the best cat ever.

Here she playing with her favorite squeaky toy by the balcony.

and here she is with Nadeko (if I can find a better picture of them together I'll post it later)

    6. @Raselikat he's adorable!
I hope you don't mind this random bit of information, "shiro" means "white" in Japanese "oshiro" means "castle".

      • x 1
    7. No, I don't mind. Either way it works. ^^ Since he's half white anyways. Thank you for that info. <3

This is my pitbull puppy, Ellie. She's about 8 months old. She's the sweetest thing and she also seems to think she's a cat.

This is my 11 year old tortoiseshell cat, Poopums. She's my baby but she's pretty mean to just about everyone she meets.

And last but not least my 5 year old tabby, Dr. Doom. He has such a personality. He's also very talkative and doesn't like to share blankets.

    9. On-topic off-topic post :D

      Here's my 4/5 year old bunny Luna with my YoSD Kyrie for size ;u;

precious bbys. Luna's a Hotot Dwarf bunny and she's docile, but proud, lmao. She'll only cede to me; the rest of my family are her servants 8'D

    10. @KittyKittyClaudia aww they're all so cute!
I love pit bulls! they're really sweet contrary to the stereotype

@Sorelliena the rest of the family are her servants...that cracked me up!
Luna is super cute, and it's nice to see she likes Kyrie

    12. yeah, some people just shouldn't be allowed to be around animals.
aww, Ellie sounds adorable trying to be a big kitty ^^

    13. This is Roxie, our Pit mix rescue. I'd been teasing the husband by sending texts of the dogs at the pound after we moved into our new house (fenced yard finally!) and I sent her photo and a week later he caved and brought her home. Where she promptly escaped and ran around the neighborhood for three days until we managed to coax her back into the house with piles of kibble on the porch and bits of hot dog. Poor thing had been dumped at the pound twice in her life and still has separation anxiety issues when we're at work (shoes and yarn are her favorite stress relief items) but usually does okay since she has full run of house and yard all day. And for a short haired bare tummied dog, does she ever get excited when it snows.

She's a blanket thief too...and super spoiled with three different beds. Downstairs in the theater, upstairs in the living room, and in the bedroom. The one in this picture has been remade so she can't make a mess of little foam pieces everywhere digging at it after pulling the cover off.

And then I have two corn snakes, Aliashe (orange albino) and Kurdal (brown)... who were named for a pair of serpent gods in a story I wrote...and then found out the hard way that I did not have two same sex snakes when I found Kurdal on a clutch of eggs earlier this year. I lost both hatchings that made it that far a couple weeks ago cause I couldn't ever get them to eat no matter what I tried to tempt them with.

This is an older pic, they're not as easy to hold together in one hand anymore...

    14. Just added these two.

Echo, an African Grey parrot I'm rehabilitating
      [IMG]

      Penelope, a nanday conure!

That's all the pets I've ever wanted, so I'm a very happy panda :)

    15. [IMG]

Here is my handsome boy Faramir! I call him Mirmir for short though. He is pretty large; probably a Maine Coon mix.

      • x 3

    16. He sure is a handsome kitty! Does he know he's handsome?

    17. @KittyKittyClaudia Why, thank you! And yes, I think he might know--he enjoys posing for the camera and does this little chest puff/head tilt thing. He's such a snugglebug too.

    18. I love when animals know they're cute! And I also love when they pose for the camera. My cat poses. But my puppy does not. She wiggles away.

    19. Here is my beautiful fur-son Luka, who is actually quite the ham. lol. I do a lot of photoshoots of babies for my moms business and whenever I'm set up for a shoot, he's always right there waiting for me to take his picture, or in a bag, making as much noise as possible. lol.

    20. I can't believe Brigadoon is still here months later 9___6 well, might as well show you my new rattie babies! Our mischief has grown to four; I still have my fatso boys Boris and Theo, but two new little baby girls have been added to the mix. Meet Juniper (gray) and Ratchel (silver capped). Erm, the boys are neutered, so when the girls grow up they won't be making any more baby ratties, don't worry. :p

    21. Awww! Cuties!! I love rats!! I don't understand how some people don't like them. So stinking cute!! :love

      • x 1
    22. Everyone's babies are so cute. Rats are my favorite pets. I don't have any right now (no space) but I do have six beautiful betta fish. They're not so nice to pet, though.

      Here's my divided 20gallon tank

Twister, Casper, Mr Tipsy, and Bo
I don't have good pictures of my other two setups, but there's Bitsy the girl and Cinco the fish who can't swim.
I accidentally started rescuing betta fish. I had 13 for a while and that was a bit much. I can handle six.

      • x 2
    23. Congrats on the new arrivals! I love rats, they are my favorite pets. Your new girls are just too cute!
We are currently trying to decide what to do with our gang; we're down to two girls, as we just lost our oldest girl this morning. I'd like to get them some new friends, but I will no longer buy from pet stores, and there aren't a lot of other options where I live.

      • x 1

    24. Oh wow!! I love your setup!!! It's very pretty!! I love betta. I wish I could get one for my fish tank. Very lovely fish.

    25. All right, I've got to be fair to my other two. I don't take as many pictures, because their tanks are hard to light:
This is Cinco, who's got the swim bladder issue. He sinks a lot. His name's a bad pun. He's my kitchen fish.

And here's Bitsy, my only girl. She looks red but is actually a bright blue. She's just backlit and hard to get clear pictures of. I wish I had a good picture of her full tank. It's my favorite.

And if anyone's in need of betta advice, feel free to ask me. I was the betta specialist at my last job.

      • x 3

    26. Bitsy is very pretty!!! Aw, I have lost a few fish to swim bladder. I tried the peas thing but it didn't work. I have since changed my fishes diet to sinking pellets.

    27. I'm sorry to hear that. Losing a fish is hard. One of the worst parts is telling someone that you lost a pet and getting the, "It's just a fish, though, right?" I lost my five-year-old fish this summer and a lot of people didn't understand how much it hurt.
A lot of the time, swim disease can be caused by water quality. I got Cinco, Mr Tipsy, Twister, and a fish I gave away all for free because they couldn't swim, and just had to put them in ~80 degree water, quality food like Omega One, and keep up with water changes. Lost three fish to mystery bloat, though. That disease is scary as heck, contagious, and kills fast. And it starts out looking like normal bloat too, which is the worst part.
Shoot me a PM if you want really wordy specific help on fish. :)

    28. Thank you! I agree, the loss of any animal is hard. You get attached and love them. They're living creatures. I lost a betta before to dropsy. I had him for YEARS. He was a very lively little guy and I was heartbroken. I had no idea what was wrong with him until it was too late. :/
A few weeks ago I started freaking out because one of my goldfish had a pebble stuck in his mouth. It couldn't spit it out. So I had to look up how to remove it. I'm really glad I actually able to find how to help my fish.

    29. My lovely cat - Morana
She is about 6 year, and she came to us from the street. I believe, that she chose us herself

    30. they do! ... both of mine did ^^... I think it makes for a stronger bond when an animal with less reason finally DOES 'trust and love' a human. You are lucky.

    31. That is so funny because when I was a little girl I had a black kitty cat who came to me from the streets too! She would follow me around outside and she'd sleep on our balcony. I asked my parents to let me keep her and they said yes. Plus she wasn't leaving. Hahaha! She was a wonderful cat.

    32. these are my 'street kitties'.. /posts/11739521/
we watched the tux kitty for over a year before she was taken in by next door then REabandoned! by them in -30 weather!... we couldn't take her in before because we had had 2 old cats up until a few months before... Chricket the other one, we took in barely 6 weeks before Max O_o... She had been a repeat runnaway from her home half a block away... when the owner found out how happy she was with us when we took her in on another fridged night she asked if we wanted to keep her... so we did. The other owner was finally able to stop fretting every time her idiot boarder let the cat out.

    39. Hope you all don't mind me reviving this thread.
I've had A LOT of different pets over the years (almost all rodents - rats being my favorite, several reptiles, and a couple dogs when I still lived at home)
Currently, this is my pet crew (plus three other cats and some fishies that are technically my fiance's lol)

My kitty. His name is Kaito.

One of my six hermit crabs (I'm lucky if two are up at the same time when I want to take pictures heh)

      My leopard gecko, Neelix.

      And my Axolotl, Remy.

    42. :3

How is the axolotl as a pet?

    43. He's (or she, few more months until I'll know for sure) a dork lol Very easy to care for as long as you know the basics (they don't like current so have to be mindful of what type of filter is used, and like a certain temp range), and super easy to feed etc.
I say he's a dork, because he likes to have his picture taken. His tank is beside our bed, and I'll be playing on my phone in the dark and glance over and he's like staring at me heh As soon as I notice, he slowly swims away heh

    44. I love a good pet thread. Everyone's pets are adorable, even the ones that stereotypically are not. Because I just love animals.

Here is my mini zoo. Spoilers so avaoid the photo overload.

Angel is my 12 yr old rescue cat. She is literally the most soft, pathetic and affectionate thing in the world. I think she was an old lady's lap dog in a former life. I have had her for 5 years now, My best buddy <3

Duke is my 11 year old cat, another rescue. He likes to take up bed space and snore.

These are Darwin and Irwin my Whites Tree Frogs. Darwin is sitting on top of Irwin. They are both rescues, one of which was being kept in a bearded dragon set up and the owner couldn't work out why the frogs were dying :doh

Then, clockwise from the top, Truffle, Porcini and Enoki my Oriental Fire Belly Toads.

And then onto the Guinea pigs. I adore guineas they are my absolute favorite pet.:love

Aramis (L) and Noah (R), my pair of young male Guinea Pigs (1yr-18 months) Aramis is a rescue.

Lindon and Rohan my old rescue boys, they have just turned 5. They came from a home of severe neglect, bald, mange mites and Lindon was half the weight he should have been.

And then Rummer (the ginger) Lupin (Ginger and White) both 2, and Harvey (cream) soon to be 6, my guinea trio of two females and a neutered male.

      [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

This is why amphibians are awesome. My frogs and toads do similar. They have such weird little characters.

    45. My babies are two kittens Sphynx. The largest is Bastet (gray), is 3 years old and my diva, takes me crazy. The small (gray and white) is called Smaug, it is 5 months and is a wild, although very cuddly. We are very happy with them, but I recognize that the house is yours and live for your convenience XD
      We are their servants, warmly.
      I hope you like :kitty2

    46. Here are mine and my husband's furry children :3

This is Sundae (the one with the green collar) and Blaire. :) These two have been with us the longest of all our pets, and have traveled with us from California, to Japan, and now to Florida! So these two have been on quite a journey.

Here's our golden, Odin! x3 We got him while we were still living in Japan, and due to my husband's job, he was often away and it left me feeling very alone and at the time I was suffering a lot from anxiety attacks, and Odin has helped so much with that. He's always stuck by me, even now, and with his happy, playful, and hyper nature, I never felt alone again and haven't had an anxiety attack since! :) He's sort of like my hero!

Our newest addition to our family is our miniature potbelly pig, Bijou! This photo is a bit old. She's almost a year old and she's just slightly bigger now. Now that she's older, she doesn't need her little enclosure anymore and is able to run around the house, terrorizing the cats and sometimes even poor Odin. ^^; She has such a big personality for such a tiny thing! She also loves to cuddle, and will hop up on mine or my husband's lap and just fall asleep. :3 A little off topic, but I really want a Doll Factory Special Kiki because it looks so much like Bijou and I want to model it after her!

    54. This is Anya. She is a mostly blind German Shepherd with a heart murmur that was rescued from a bad situation sometime last December. She was literally skin and bones, but is now at her target weight after months of care. My husband and I adopted her back in March. We love her to bits!

    55. @Anneko Aww, thank you so much. You're very kind. ^_^ :aheartbea
She used to be really scrawny and short haired when I adopted her from the shelter. I never expected her to become this fluffy once she grew up.

    56. @purplepaws Ahh yes... When I adopted Momo, he was the smallest, least fluffy kitten in his litter, I know how they can surprise you haha.
