I love what PashaPasha does - she has a calendar on her website with the sculpts and preorder dates for a year ahead. I plan and wait for pasha pasha boy in october . This is great way to help buyers(only thing that is better is that all sculpts available all the time, but that's not gonna happen. i can dream tho ) And yeah, me too, genuinely interested and intrigued about behind the scenes of Sartoriaj. I think some of the sculpts are gone based on time but not all. And I am sure the one are available as standards are not always the top selling ones - when I looked at google images of their male dolls there are mostly Judes, with some Phillips and Mathiases in between and then the others. For some of their standard dolls I can't find owner photos at all. Ah, I hope one day someone figures out the mystery - I'm curious. My favourite sculpts are not available too - I found about Sartoriaj only few months ago and missed out on all of them...Never take a break from the hobby, kids
I feel like for me it's partially psychological - once I can't get a doll anymore I suddenly want it more than ever! I guess that's how the limited dolls work too - the FOMO kicks in and you rush to buy so you don't miss out. I recently bought Emma and I think if she'd been a standard doll I would have thought about it longer, but she was limited and I didn't want to regret not getting her, as I have with others - hopefully I really do love her when she arrives!!! But I did really want another girl doll and none of the Standard ones were quite right for me. The one I really regret not getting is human Jude - I wish they would bring him back!!! I'd buy him in a heartbeat!
The lack of news regarding the availability of certain sculpts brings me back to that sudden mass discontinuation event. Iirc they didn't offer a head-only option (or an extra head if buying a full doll), which added to the frustration if you wanted multiple to-be-discontinued sculpts. In the end, the specter of possible buyer's remorse prevented me from buying one of their dolls at the time. But SJ also has, on various occasions, quietly brought dolls back (i.e. Vittoria in the 1/3 scale), so who knows what their plans are at this point? In the meantime, here's Demian hanging out with Iple FID Doria: Fire and Silver (Ice) by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
They look so beautiful together!!!! And, wow, I just went to check and in the Standard dolls (1/4) section, it's down to only 4 boys and 6 girls?! That's quite a drop! I wonder if they will introduce new standard dolls soon? Or maybe they are restricting the sculpts available so they can catch up on orders, I mean the wait times are quite long compared to some other companies?
Sartoriaj put up some cool dolls for summer sale. Unfortunately no Daniel , but damn I not gonna lie I am so temped to buy MSD Mathias...But wIth pashapasha xy coming up in october and I got new raccoondoll guy being made...And if doll menagerie will open preorders this year...I shouldn't get too many dolls. But Mathias is so cool....I really wanted to get an artsy fashion doll. But Mathias...The struggle lol. I don't know what to decide, but I know in any case there will be a loser - my wallet. Oh and new Sartoriaj girl, Sarah, is so beautiful too
Saw Sarah too, and she is not new, she is one of the old girls. But with that face up she is like a completely new doll! I have one in MSD size and I didn´t recognize her! But I absolutely love her with this face up. Sarah no. 2 incoming
Thankfully for my wallet, I'm not so tempted by any of the ones in the summer sale. Although I do still like Mathias! But in far more exciting (for me) news - I finally got a shipping notice for my Phillip!!! I ordered him in December and he is finally on his way - I am so excited!!! Can't wait until he's actually with me!!!
@morganatron Good for Phillip! Crossing fingers he arrives quick and safely! I will order Sarah if that face up from the pictures is offered. At least with SartoriaJ you know you will get the face up that is shown
Oooh I didn't realize the summer sale dolls were posted already! I really like Melissa....no fantasy dolls thou, so I'm probably safe.
Interesting, now Mathias is not available as SD. I was wondering why he is only standard SD and not MSD, so I guess Sartoriaj thought so too and decided to fix it - now he is neither I noticed cause I am trying to fight the urge to buy him by looking at his pics I guess . Gotta go look at pashapasha insta to remind myself that I do want a fancy fashion doll and one fashion doll is the last doll for this year
He's here!!! After a 7 month wait my Phillip has finally arrived! I wanted him to be a blonde but the wig I got for him was too small (they definitely need a 6-7 wig, I don't know why I thought it was 5-6), so I guess he can wear this so he's not bald in the meantime? The outfit was made from Antique Lilac's pattern for FID by the way - he's a bit bigger than my FID Model boy, but thankfully it fits! He's very handsome but I'm currently doing that new doll thing of do I like them or not?! It bothers me that his head is a lot bigger than the FID and Raccoondolls I have. Hmm. Maybe I just need to get used to him. The right wig might make a difference, although now I'm not sure what that will be. Wondering if I should have got Paul instead, I was tossing up between them, but I was intending to get Paul with the Jude face-up, and it's just disappeared from the custom face-up options?! Looks like there's less choice there as well now! So I guess I can't anymore. (Forever regretting I didn't get Jude when I had the chance!)
He's looking beautiful and I love the outfit. Lookit the weenie buttons and the little bits of lace at the cuffs. It's interesting to hear that about SartoriaJ heads vs Iplehouse or Raccoondoll. All the boys I have are SartoriaJ except Cullen who looked hilariously bobble-headed when I put Jarrad's head on his 47cm body. Out of curiosity, where did you get that wig and what colour is it?
@morganatron Congratulations on his arrival! He's looking dapper so far. Also, I can confirm your observation regarding how SJ heads (males at least) scale with Iple FIDs and RaccoonDolls -- especially the newer RaccoonDolls, which I heard are even more petite. Having a wig that doesn't add so much volume to the top of the head would help immensely. Conversely, I gave my RaccoonDoll voluminous wiggies to offset the height diff a bit, lol. Congrats on getting Phillip, he looks sooo good. I think he is one of the best doll faces ever, next to Mathias, Jude and Daniel, so I am sure your doubts will pass and you gonna love him. I wish I got Jude too tho, msd Jude has a really really good faceup which makes look almost alive(tarot daniel has same quality about him too)
Thank you! I’ve got so used to the fashion size dolls his head looks giant to me, but I’ll also got a whole lot of big headed dolls - so it’s really just in comparison! That wig is an iplehouse size 7-8 in Sepia, so it’s just sort of balancing on his head there! That same wig comes in smaller sizes too though. They look gorgeous together!!! Glad it’s not just me who noticed that about the head sizes. Might take some getting used to. And yes, the wig is not helping, it’s size 7-8 so it’s way too big! I wish Jude was still around!!! Maybe they’ll bring him back one day, who knows?
Thank you. My human and elf Jude twins need wigs and trying to choose ones based on colour when all I've got is internet pictures is kind of nightmarish. Iplehouse's Sepia was high up on my list of preferred colours because if I decide to add in extra bits of different brown shades, it should be easier to do lighter bits on a darker wig.
My SartoriaJ Dominic is also fairly large headed, I have resolved to only put him in handmade wigs so they are thin enough to show off his ears and look natural with his size. He cannot share wigs with most of my other dolls, I thought it was the placement of his enormous elf ears, but perhaps the guys just have big heads!
The SJ men do have slightly larger heads than the FIDs from Iplehouse, so they can't share wigs with them. And I find the only way to deal with those elf ears is to make a wig to go in front and behind them.
Hi guys! I saw the sale and was tempted to get msd sized Matias because he’s perfect for a character I have, but I’m wondering how well do they pose and hold a pose? I’m torn between him and and iplehouse FID
Well, depends on how you look at it. Every doll body has it's own quirks and needs practice to get used to. That being said, I personally find the SJ ladies pose pretty much the same as IH ladies, except they can use some wiring in their arms, and their knees aren't quite as nice so their lower legs can pop out of place. But my SJ ladies all have long skirts so I don't care. However, in my opinion Iplehouse FID men pose much better than SJ men. But then, one can't beat an SJ sculpt or faceup. Those are spectacular. I have four FiDs and three SJ men, and am getting used to the SJ guy's posing limitations. I've wired all their arms so that at least helps their arms hold a pose. Without wiring their elbows wouldn't hold a pose other than tightly bent or straight out. And I wanted more range. If all one wants is a doll to stand on display it doesn't matter how they pose, but my guys are all actors in my stories. Still, my three SJ guys spend most of their time just standing around looking magnificent.
Yeah, it's so hard to choose colours on a computer monitor! I think that's why so many of my dolls have black wigs, at least you know what colour you're getting! I've had terrible trouble trying to find the right shade of chocolae brown for another doll, and now I'm having that trouble with blonde wigs - so many shades of warm and cool blonde! Hard to know what to get. The Iplehouse Sepia, if this helps, is very much a cool brown, so it's not a warm chocolate brown, and is quite a dark brown. It's a nice colour, but of course it depends what shade you're after! It does seem they have bigger heads than the others! Phillip next to my FID Dane is a HUGE difference! I wish I'd realised that before I bought his original wig, oh well. But yeah, the elf ears make it so much harder - I love elf ears, but finding a wig to fit!!! It's a bit of a nightmare. Wigs handmade to fit are probably the best option, you're right, but wig making is not one of my skills! I love the wigs you've made your dolls so much!!! Elf ears make it so hard. And yeah, the SJ boys definitely can't wear the 5-6 wigs - on the upside, at least there's much more choice in the size 6-7 wigs, many more companies to choose from. I've ordered him a Monique wig from amongst the last of the Facets By Marcia stock, so hopefully that works. At least their wigs are quite thin. I'm no good at posing my dolls, but I will say, I was very impressed with how my SJ boy stands like a rock straight out of the box. My FID boys always seem to collapse at the ankles and stand weird, but the SJ boy is great, stnads so solidly! And he fits all the same shoes too!
@morganatron Did you order a 6-7 Monique wig from Marcia? The ones I got are definitely too big. The 5-6 are too small. Their heads are a real challenge wigwise.
Yes, I got a 6-7. I have another 6-7 Monique wig here that fits him, so fingers crossed the one I’ve ordered fits the same!!!
Anita, you havw the most amazing dresses! I follow you on Instagram and keep on admiring them! MB Lilac, Agnes looks like real elven maiden from a movie - Arwen. So etherial and pretty!
I have a question: has anyone ever tried some SD female shoes (any brand) on your MSD SartoriaJ boy??? I remember once trying some SD shoes on my FID boy but his feet were way too wide even though the length was similar - but now I have my SJ boy I see his feet are MUCH narrower. It feels like buying SD girl shoes might be a possibility, however I don't actually own any such shoes (borrowed from a friend last time) - so does anyone own some and can try it out??? If they fit - that would open up so many possibilities of shoes to buy!!! I hope someone owns both sizes and can help?!
@morganatron I remember buying boots from SartoriaJ that were made for their SD girls that were also marketed as being able to fit their MSD boys. So I reckon that they can share shoes.
I ordered Matias My crippling doll addiction won once again Looking at pashapasha dolls backfired, cause I realized I like Matias way more anyway, so doll plans needed to be changed. I am really excited - I wanted to get Sartoriaj doll for a while and he is gonna be my first one and he can wear some of the cool outfits Sartoriaj periodically dropping. And he can be friend with my Raccoondoll Henry, who I ordered earlier. Next year I need to add ladies to my collection. MSD Vittoria maybe
I agree Matias is a wonderful choice. He is wonderful in both sizes. Here's my MSD sized Matias......to hold you over till yours arrives. @Fyrwenn Mishka by luluna33, on Flickr
Thanks! I feel good about this choice Oh yeah he is amazing I actually saw him on your flickr when I was googling pics and trying to decide who should I get, and, well you know who I bought eventually. Thanks!
Just dropping by to share this photo I've been dying to take ever since I got my guy's fashion mini version. The girls are an Iple SID and HID, so those familiar with a certain Futurama episode may get the reference. Initiating S S by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
All my SartoriaJ girls. From left to right: Yu, Lesley, Silvia, Melissa. Lesley and Silvia are still waiting for their forever wigs. Next I hope to get Laura and Juliet
O God!!! What beauties!!! A beautiful outfit emphasizes the beauty of girls!!! Matias - his beauty is mesmerizing!!! Thanks for the beautiful and atmospheric photo!!!
I just got a shipping notice for my Emma!!! Very exciting!!! And that was much faster than I expected too - a bit less than 4 months, when my Phillip was about 6 months I think? So that's great news!!! I'll post photos once she arrives!
Ooooh!!! The Summer Carnival dolls are being released in 1/4 size from tomorrow too!!! So tempting!!!!!! Doing my best to resist as I've spent too much on dolls lately but how amazing they're releasing them in both sizes! So cool!
I love Evelyn so much! Does it say anywhere what skin colour she is? As I'd like to order her exactly as she is in photos.
Yes, it says up the very top, just above her title: rosewater skin, MTN body, Bell bust. That’s so exciting you’re ordering her!!! She’s the one I wish I could order too!
I have never noticed it say that thanks for telling me I'll look out for it with future dolls too! I've asked if they're planning to sell her wig in size 5-6.
Oh no. That's gonna be a hard one to pass again lol. Evelyn is so beautiful. At least Sartoriaj is creating amazingly beautiful girls(especially lately, like Sarah, Natalie and Evelyn) and I'm sure next year when I have plans to buy a girl doll they will have something great too. *coping* Congrats! I'm happy for ya
Ignoring the cries of my wallet I bought Evelyn! Now I need to think about a wig. And a name. And find some clothes
Congratulations!!! Evelyn is so gorgeous, I can’t wait to see owner pics!!! And yes, names are hard - I still haven’t named my Jenice and I’ve had her for ages now?!
Human Jude and Elf Jude are both still called Human Jude and Elf Jude even though they really, really ought to have names. And hair.
I'm terrible at renaming dolls, so they always stay with their company names. The only exception is if I have two of a sculpt. Or in the case of other companies, when a doll has a female name, but I'm making it into a boy.
My dolls also only have their company names . I just feel like I'd forget what I'd named them. Some of the company names are pretty awful tho so I probably should rename them . Does anyone know anyone who makes wavy/curly natural fibre wigs in this size? Most of my girls have alpaca wigs but it's starting to look a bit samey. I know alpaca can be curled but I definitely do not have a delicate enough touch to accomplish this .
Ha, so it's not just me that struggles with names! I did keep my Juliet's sculpt name as I do love that name (although ironically I ended up getting her a different head so she's not even really the Juliet sculpt anymore) - but I would rather rename Jenice. If I could think of something. Also I feel like I've used up all my favorite names already on other dolls?! Loganberry, have you tried Hannasu - LM Wig - 5~6inch - it's synthetic mohair but has that look, they're the ones that used to be the Leekeworld wigs. There are lots of styles in 5-6 and I've found them to be good quality! The only ones that didn't work were the updo wigs - they're designed more for the smaller, rounder 5-6 heads like Latidoll I guess, as they didn't go all the way down to the nape of the neck and looked weird. Any longer wigs were fine though!
Thanks so much for that recommendation! I've seen 2 wigs that I really like. One is out of stock except in light brown. What are they like at restocking? It says out of stock in pre-order too.
I’m actually not sure, I haven’t ordered from them in a little while - you might have to check with them and see what they say? But glad you found something you like!!!
It's been a while since I posted something (I'm mainly lurking here and there), so here is two photos that I took today of my only SartoriaJ doll, Vittoria (on 45 APH body). Just because! Nothing new here, she is wearing a basic dress I sewed few years ago. And a close-up
