So when this monolith arrived, my first thought was to worry that they sent me the wrong order, because how could a single doll require a box so huge?! Iplehouse box and TG included for scale: Seriously. But no, that's one giant doll box inside, and everything else I ordered. (Bubble-wrap already removed from small items.) I usually keep all my doll boxes, but I don't think I can store many of these! I guess the elastic band with a tag helps keep things neat and confirm authenticity. Certificate envelope also shown. (Don't mind the SJ sticker on foam-lady - I put that there.) Interior with small items pulled out. Turns out the reason for the size is that there are a LOT of cutouts to hold potential other items, including separate slots for heel-legs, what may be a spot for an extra head or helmet, and a row of large blocks down the side where I assume they would place things like weapons. Since I love fantasy/historical doll items, I hope their plans don't end up being too ambitious in the long run. Free garment, hand-substitutes, extra wrist-parts, Iron Crown chains (even though I didn't order Serena - I did get her outfit, though), and resin samples. MSD Bounty-Hunter Yvonne's style faceup, Dew Bust and regular hands. I just realized I didn't get any closeups of the long-nail hands because I wasn't interested in putting them on her. She did NOT come with eyes (I swiped these from Zakary, since he wasn't wearing them). The proportions are still bothering me a bit when she's naked, but clothed she looks fine. You can also see she has some seams, but nothing terrible. So... posing. Her joints are all basic ball-and-sockets with no additional divots, ledges, hooks or anything else to help add leverage or friction. Consequently, she can't actually sit up on her knees (this was the result of trying), sit up easily, or hold her legs up at all, and her elbows keep snapping straight on me. She has a similar cross-strung arrangement in the hips as we've seen from other companies (to avoid having visible slots in the upper leg), which I'm not fond of due to how loose it tends to make those joints. In short - if you buy this body, I suggest you plan on sueding it immediately. The outfit is lovely as usual from SJ, though the chest exhibits some extra folds that probably wouldn't be there on a body with the larger (Bell) bust. (The looped cord decoration on the top of the hood definitely looks out of scale, though.) Sorry I didn't show the back of the dress, but of course it's another of my favorite oh-god-more-tiny-laces-to-deal-with type of outfits. Edit: Also, I had swapped out her feet for the heel ones, only to discover I had no appropriate shoes that would fit those extreme rises and had to swap them back so I could put her in a pair of IH flats. And... a demonstration of my lack of camera skills. Heh. Auto-focus wasn't helping me out here. Interestingly, the new resin is still rosier than Iplehouse's RS, but NOT as pink as the original Yvonne head I purchased. It's probably close enough to be within blushing range for those who want to do that, though. Thanks for viewing! Edit: And of course not all the photos are showing. You can probably view them here, anyway.
I can see all the photos The dress and face are both really nice. I hadn't paid much attention to this body so this is my first time really looking at it. I appreciate your thoughts Congrats!
Ah, she's gorgeous! Your review makes me happy I was able to snag one of the heads without the body, though.
@skyealloway - That's good to know, thank you! Two of them aren't showing for me at all. I assume SJ will probably do an MSD version eventually too, since they've already made a couple heads in that size. @monkeypizzasonic - Isn't she? ^_^ Yeah, I don't intend to put people off the company, but for anyone who is looking for a doll that can pose great right out of the box, this might not be the best choice.
Great review @Sianserais. All the pictures are working for me as well. I like her with those eyes. And that box is huge. It would be hard to storage.
What a pretty lady! She looks positively regal in the red cloak - just gorgeous! And I love her facial features, especially the shape of her eyes - almost catlike, but still beautifully realistic.
Youre right - you’re not putting anyone off the company - they are doing it themselves! I got mine few days ago and the posing is impossible! His legs are strung in a weird way! Not happy - not worth the price tag!
I actually still don't own one of their 1/3 guys yet, but if you're referring to the cross-strung arrangement in the hips, yeah, I've always disliked that some companies went that route. But I notice that the new version of the SJ 71 Athletic body they just released has visible slots in the upper legs, which implies they've gone back to traditional head-to-foot stringing!
yep, I wish I new that...my guy have wobbly legs - they just dont stay in place. ive tried many different things and nothing seems to work.
Sorry to hear that. I wish I had a solution for you, but as I said, I don't even have one of their guys handy to look at. Why don't you try asking for suggestions in the main 1/3 SJ thread? Maybe someone else does!
I thought about that and I actually looked for in here but couldn’t find it? It’s ok… Thank you for trying to help! He has a beautiful body and face is stunning but…anyways I will leave a question on their thread about that and see what others might say. Thanks again ☺️
