Jay told me small Evelyn needs 10mm eyes with 3mm iris. Ok, that is small.

Well SJ has now offered the circus dolls in the smaller MSD size.

 

Have you noticed that Evelyn´s wig is now offered, made by Amadiz? Normally I would rejoice, but when I remember that I waited for Amadiz wigs from etsy or their website often almost a year that doesn´t exactly fill me with confidence.

I had such eyes made by Ashuradark. Really good quality - clear and detailed. I might still have one pair at home.

 

I'm not sure about their qiality either...

Yeah, I have ordered from Amadiz several times with their ready to ship stuff and it's relatively quick. BUT I'll just say I think the quality of their wigs has severely decreased in the last few years. The wigs I ordered from earlier this year barely have any wefts glued on the head cap, if the hair isn't placed exactly right you can see the huge gaps between the wefts.

But maybe the maker has hired some help and turned things around, not speaking ill just warning anyone thinking about it.

 

Sartoriaj should have enough of my money this year, but man is Evelyn tempting me! She's even got the same name as one of my nieces haha

 

I was considering ordering the wig but this is giving pause. I don't mind spending a lot on wigs as long as the quality is there. I'd rather not take a risk on a $150 wig. I've found someone that makes excellent quality alpaca wigs for the minis but I'd like something a bit different as nearly all my girls have alpaca wigs.

 

I can DM you some pictures if you'd like; obviously I can only speak to the wigs I've received and my own experience. I want to be clear I don't think Amadiz is terrible or no one should order from them, I just don't think their pricing matches their quality anymore.

I have about 6 wigs from them, for context, purchased intermittently over 5 years.

Sooo Jay confirmed that my girl will be shipped out in the end of Septermber. I asked to have her ears pierced and Sartoria kindly agreed.

TBH I regret of not getting Evelyn. I know the more time will pass the more I will regret it. *sigh* oh well I still have Jenice in my wishlist.

 

Wow I love Edgar, and the Louis fit is fire! Jay needs to slow down this year haha, I need a break! 3 years ago I had 2 dolls and I'm now at 11, 8 of those being Sartoriaj

 

Oh....Edgar with a smirk/raised eyebrow is getting my, attention but, then I also like the soft Edgar too (what's a woman to do?) buy them!
I wonder how many dolls they will be offering in this series. Hmmm......I'd like to see "all" before I make a decision.

 

@susieagent99 Yes I love both versions! I just purchased Agnes though, so I really, truly need to slow down on dolls this year. (If I do purchase him everyone pretend I was good! ) I think I'm gonna just have to hope Jay re-releases him at some point. I will need everyone who does get him to send tons of pictures!

And yes while I understand the marketing strategy of collectibles, and keeping people buying with limited releases and small sales periods to encourage impulsivity, I don't love it. Makes smart purchasing as a buyer very hard. Such is the life of a BJD collector! haha

 

I really like 'prisoner' Edgar but I don't think it's in the cards right now. I am holding out for their winter stuff (they always pull out the big guns then!)

EDIT: @Wittyilynamed It is so true about trying to budget/buy smart. It's very hard!

 

@ryuunohime So true! Basically half my collection is from their winter sales, as I got Vittoria and Eleanor 2? years ago (I'm losing track of time, maybe 3 haha) and Freya, Malena and Philip this last year in the winter sale. Obviously a dangerous time for me

 

Yes, it's nice to know who all will be released during a theme or special sales period.

And I just read that you can get both Edgar heads with one body...just to tempt us more!

I was good this year until the summer sales. (And I didn't get anything last winter for the first time in a while.)

 

I adore Edgar! And I hate SartoriaJ ... every time I lean back, smirk to myself and say "that was the last one" they release another one I fall in love with. Very very tempted right now!

 

Also have to say I really like regular Edgar and his outfit, and appreciate the option to get both heads! They won't work for any of the characters I still want shells for, though. Still tempting. As if I didn't just have to talk myself out of getting Malena a second time...

 

I really like smirky/smug Edgar! like @Ashemanu and @Sianserais ...I have recently ordered from SJ and really shouldn't get any more just yet....dang it. But I am so tempted too...especially since you can get both heads.

 

I feel like this year Sartoriaj has really been on fire haha, maybe its just because they've released a lot of 1/3 dolls and I only purchase SD. But this year has been a tough one to resist all their releases for sure.

 

(sad to say) but, well said. You are right, "impulsivity" I bet is what keeps SJ in business. I do have to say though, "Maya" was a limited that when teased with the blank head, I thought WOW! Then when they put the makeup, I bet I was 1st in line to order her. She is still one of my faves.

That Edgar sure is "cats pajamas" but, I'm not a collector of the "men" I enjoy the ladies MANY colorful and detailed outfits too much, (my dolls are on display) to have a "man" in the house. Though I did buy one (Iple Drake) and had him almost a year and enjoyed him while he was here but.....the ladies said it's time for him to leave Now that I've experienced having a "male" doll, I will not go down that road again, so I'm safe from the impulses of buying Edgar.

 

(LOL) when you go to bed at night, in your prayers, ask to have more will power & self control over the resin addiction.

 

Realized I'd never showed off this outfit! My Eleanor, who is a knight, is rocking it. I just need the Milady de Winter set to come in so she can pose with her lady, my Vittoria haha.

 

It is such a detailed outfit. I love how well it fits your doll. I love all the small details. The hat is amazing.

 

@Anita2006 Yes it's one of my favorite outfits now for sure! Only thing that sucks is that it's all made from thin pleather, so it likely won't hold up long-term. I've had some of my dolls and outfits 10+ years so I hang onto these things for a long time haha.

@Wittyilynamed That outfit looks beautiful! But I guess it was no fun to get her into it And you are unfortunately correct about the material. After 10 years you can forget it ... reason I don´t buy outfits made of this material anymore. But as long as it holds, it´s stunning!

 

@Ashemanu Yes I don't know why I was surprised it was pleather, of course it wouldn't be made out of real leather! But it's still surprising there are no better alternatives in the year 2024.

And yes getting the pants on her made me think of them having to sew Olivia Newton-John into her leather pants for Grease haha. Lots of doll jiggling going on

I am! I am wondering if any of my younger looking Iple girl heads would look good on it too. It is nice to have body variety!

The teen Claire sculpt/faceup is adorable too.

 

I love teen Claire and the new body. If I collected this size I'd be in trouble. Sort of hoping they do this body for the mini line too.

 

Someone asked on Instagram and they are planning to release the body in the mini size also!

I have a Rexy head I think would look great on the 59 body! Does IH normal match any of the Sartoria resin?

 

Hm looking again I see it says limited release, has anyone asked Jay yet if this body will be available outside of Teen Claire? Interested in the body but teen Claire's a little young and sweet for my crew haha.

 

I think purchasing the body only is limited. I don't think they would put that much work into a new body for only one release.

Someone know if 59 Daphne will be available as regular body? I checked the standar 1/3 dolls and only are elegible 61-64 sizes.

@Dynamene Not sure, from what I read on their newsletter it seems like it will only be released with specific sculpts? But I could be wrong, might be a good question to ask on their Q&A.


Also love the halloween drop but the dress only fitting the new body means it is safe from me. Otherwise I fear I would have to get the whole outfit set haha.

Also never realized how much Oscar looks like Tom Cruise! Truly shows what styling can do to a sculpt. Love Sartoriajs run this year of referencing 90s/early 2000s movies that have great costuming and drama. With Man in the Iron Mask and Interview with a Vampire, I think we should take bets on what movie might get referenced for christmas this year haha.

 

I was just thinking that. No clue what the Christmas movie theme would be. Grinch?

 

Bahaha I would legitimately die if they did, it would be so fun and hilarious! My guess right now is a Christmas Carol Would love to see their interpretations of Christmas Past, Present and Future! Plus a grumpy old Scrooge would be so fun haha.

The face up is a far cry from the Fantyfoo face up shown on the website. That, and the other issues I have with it, which is the crusted spray all over her face. All in all, it´s the most disappointing face up I ever got from SartoriaJ. But I was expecting that somehow. Apart from that, I really love her, partly due to that I love the Sarah mold in general. Also the Mintorette body behaves really funny when I sit her on a chair, the legs immediately cross over and there is no way to get them straight. I really like the look of the body though, so I guess I can live with that.

 

I'm sorry about the disappointing faceup.

On the leg issue, bid you get the mobility joints? I was reading the manual that came with my last doll and the legs with the mobility joint are strung sraight from the neck while the legs without the joint mobility have the elastic cross at the hip.

 

@Ashemanu - Oh so sorry you are not happy with her faceup! I think she is a beauty. I know they can't match the FantyFoo faceup exactly but the one I got I was really pleased with. Your girl looks very pretty to me. I haven't tried to sit mine down...but she stands like a champ.

@nancy_schroeder_ca - Oh I didn't realize that about the different stringing for the mobility joint! My first SJ men had such stringing that their legs dangled when I picked them up. (They didn't have the mobility joint) but recently they seem tighter. I should see how they were strung.

 

Can we see her with no wig? Maybe a close up?
