I could get one of them but it's sooooo hard to choose! I'll wait for Marina/the mermaid to be shown and then make a decision. And I agree, I wish we could buy the outfits separately!

I wonder if Marina will be Mermaid only or also have a human version with legs. I will wait for her now since I cannot decide between Ayla and Margot anyway

 

I asked and Marina will be released. in both 1/3 and 1/4 versions.

I both love and don't love that you pointed out that Ayla looks like a sibling sculpt to Tania and Tatiana. Those are two of my all time favorite 1/4 sculpts! Tatiana was my very first BJD.

So of course, I'm smitten with Ayla. I think she'd work for a character of mine, that is not related to my Tatiana and Tania. I'm currently waiting on an Iple doll that I ordered back in June, and didn't want to order another doll so soon. BUT the SJ wait time (at least what I've experienced) would probably space out the arrivals plenty...

 

If only I could afford it, right now, I would probably buy Ayla.

@Chameleon You could always ask Jay on the Q&A. I had asked for my Natalie on the 59 DPN body when it was officially only offered in 61 APH and 64 MTN at the time. Jay created a private listing for me to purchase her that way. Also, now that you mention it, I may do the same since I'll be swapping bodies and Ayla may be a better fit on my older 64 MTN.

 

Good to know that they will do that!! I shouldn’t buy at this time anyway, but if I decide to cave, I’ll be sure to ask them!

 

Yeah, when they offered the midnight blue Stella on the 64, I wrote Jay asking if I could get her on the 59 body (I did) and she made a public listing for her to be able to choose which type body. I guess I wasn't the only one asking for different body types for her.
If I really wanted Margot, I'd rather have her on the 61 body but, I'm not interested in either of the 2 ladies, I'm waiting for that mermaid!

Well SJ, you didn't get any money from me this time. Maybe the next series, or "doll of the month" But, I have a feeling SJ's next promo will be "halloween"

 

Shoot, I really like Marina's sculpt. As much as I was anticipating the mermaid body, I'm not super impressed with the posing. And while posing is not one of my main concerns with dolls (I wouldn't have so many SJ's if it was ) to splurge on a mermaid I would want more posing abilities than I currently see in the tail.

However, it seems SJ is offering the mermaid body by itself, but not Marina with a normal body. So I may not need to choose between her and Margot, it may be Margot by default. haha

 

Ooh I love Marina--the ethereal vibe is amazing! She's exactly how I picture a siren would look and truly the most unique face I've seen from SJ by far!

So... Ayla and 65 ATH here I come!
I hope Halloween this year will snatch my wig just as hard as this event. Mainly, I'd really really love to shop clothes again

 

Marina seems like a rock star and she reminds me a little of Halloween S. Philip.

 

General question: when purchasing a doll with a face up, will the colours be adapted to the tone of resin, or will the artists strictly stay on the same colour palette as the promo pictures?

 

If there was an option for Marina with legs, I would be seriously tempted. But I am really not a fan of the tail. So, I guess the captain´s girl will be Margot

 

@sageyufi Not always, I think it depends on who the faceup artist is.

 

The mermaid is beautiful! I really like the faces on all the ladies this time. The last four themes have all been directly targeted at me I feel. kind of wish I hadn't jumped in on the doll I did but ah well.

Phantom of the Opera would be stunning as far as SJ's attention to detail and love for drama goes! And The Devil Wears Prada would absolutely slay me haha considering my dolls' story take inspiration from that movie among others. Just imagine a Miranda Priestly inspired doll!

 

I love the mermaid, she is so ethereal and mesmerizing I hope Sartoriaj will reuse her face for some angelic or heavenly being kind of doll, that will rock.
Margot is also very cool, my second favourite after the mermaid. She's very badass and has a lot of character.
And if I haven't spent already I would also be in danger to buy with Jack, he is my favourite type of Sartoriaj men, kinda of Jude-ish pretty guy. But all the best clothes on that ship obviously go to the captain and Jack gets what's left

whelp, in my typical way, I will have to walk back my previous statements I just realized I could swap my incoming Flora onto the mermaids body and put Marina on a normal body and be happy, and with the 20% discounts on Margot and Marina it will actually be cheaper than my last two orders. So those girls are getting ordered tonight

Haha love the other movie suggestions, if anyone could do Miranda Priestly justice it would be SJ! I'm fairly sure they also worked in the fashion industry at some point so The Devil Wears Prada HAS to be on their watch list!

Honestly, if I had more money to be a complete self-indulgent visionary, I’d love to purchase Marina and customize her into a creepy ghoulish siren.

 

Ugh what a great idea, I would love to see it. I was going back and forth on whether I should get the tail blushing from SJ or see if my face-up artist could do it, but even if she would it would likely be out of my price range haha. I like the colors SJ chose so SJ it is

 

A couple of people were asking about the new Pirate lady sculpts to be available on different bodies so, I wrote to Jay last night, and here's her response: (my questions are at the bottom, her response is on top)

Margot was specially designed for the 65 Athletic body, and she will only be offered on that body type.

Her proportions, expression, and overall sculpt were created with the 65 Athletic in mind, and we feel she truly looks her best that way.



For Marina, we created her head sculpt especially for the Siren concept, so she was made to embody the mermaid design from the start.

We completely understand that not every collector will connect with her the same way, and that’s exactly why we are offering the mermaid body on its own.

So you can pair it with a head you already have and love.



We truly appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll enjoy the flexibility of the mermaid body option.

It would be nice to have a mermaid body with either of the new sculpts that you offered in the "pirate" theme. Having a choice between "heads" either Marina,

Ayla, or Margot would be awesome!



Also, is it possible to have a different size body option for Margot? To have the choice of either 59,61,64,?

You can still offer the 20% off for the new 65 body but, some of us would consider her on a smaller body, at the 10% off?

I think the mermaid body is a very interesting and well-crafted creation! What BJD mermaid can stand upright on her fins or even kneel properly?
And another new feature at SartoriaJ is that you can also order the body without the head!
But what makes me happiest is that SartoriaJ is available to buy Marina in the skin color Pale Rose

 

@susieagent99 Glad you asked! As disappointing as it is, I'm actually kinda glad Jay is less willing to do customizations like this. Why? Because I think part of what brought Iplehouse down (I know they still exist but they're not anywhere near what they were in their heyday) was having too many sculpts with to much customization available. With small teams I think it can set them up for failure. I'd much rather SJ continue to thrive and have interesting one offs than get too bogged down.

I've noticed more shipping issues in their QA so I think they realized they were having too many custom requests and couldn't keep up.

 

My Ayla + 65 ATH request was approved, but I totally respect SJ for sticking to their solid visions of Margot and Marina. I think it makes them extra special as they should, and I'm happy SJ as a team loves to challenge their creativity.

I guess if people really wanted to and could meet their other match, split orders and trades on DoA etc. is still an option.

 

Hmm. I actually really like the textures on the mermaid tail, and the scale blushing on the human half! I'm not fond of the color pink, but the way the colors are blended is lovely as well. Ideally, I also would have liked to have had more joints, but if the intent was to make a tail the doll could stand on, I can understand why that could have made it more difficult.
On the other hand, I really want Ayla and her outfit.
And honestly, Jack is the only one I'm NOT tempted by.

Ahhh....I love Jack and his outfit. I love Edmund and his outfit too. And I think the mermaid is very clever with her ability to stand. I love the whole set of dolls...decisions indeed. I did order a Margot...

 

I've ordered Margot! 20% off and free shipping i could not pass that up. Although, I must admit I was hoping the new body would be more muscle even they I knew they wouldn't be that brave. Maybe in the future.

So, I've ordered Margot in peach cream and with a custom face up. Hopefully, she suits it .

 

I've ordered Ayla! I got her in Sonoran Beige on the 61APH body. I already have a 61APH lady (Elf Naomi), so I can work on clothing for her while I wait.

Excited to see everyone else's dolls from the Pirates series.

 

I also ordered Ayla~ I got her just like the promo pictures with her outfit as well. She’s gorgeous!

I'll be swapping my Malena onto the 65 ATH and my Ayla onto the 64 MTN I already have.

Honestly, even if I would prefer a more muscular body from SJ give me beefy ladies >:V, I'm actually very happy the 65 ATH body more accurately represents my OC (blonde girl in my icon). Then she could believably look like someone who grocery shops everything at once and stubbornly lifts them all in one trip—that, and she's secretly working out just so she can bridal-carry her goth gf (Natalie 59 DPN) in the future

 

honestly, as a goth gf that gets bridal carried by a hot buff blonde, that’s pretty iconic.

Just ordered Ayla (in amber beige, with outfit and tattoo), and the mermaid body (in rosewater)!
The only way I could justify getting more than one this month was to get the mermaid body by itself, no head, no blushing, no extras. Which is a shame, because both Marina and the blushing are lovely and unique, but I figure we'll probably at least see the head again in the future, and that if anything might run into problems in production and not be offered again, it's going to be that tail.
(I do hate to think what the tariffs are going to be, but I'll just have to keep them in mind. )
Definitely enjoyed this entire series, but Margot and Edmund will have to be "maybe-somedays," for now.

 

Fell in love with margot last minute but know i can't afford her AND Edmund, so chose Edmund. He is a fine man. Now just gotta pay off the 5 dolls ive ordered from them

New clothes are nice! I love the green boots, but I already had the (expensive) experience that some boots are too tight for the female feet. I really want them, but I am afraid to waste my money, especially since I would have to buy extra middle high heel feet too.

It’s misleading because only orders worth $200+ qualify for free shipping.

I had thought I purchased everything I needed the first time because I noticed some things already ran out of stock before I even knew about the sale and didn’t want to risk missing out. SJ shipped my order on the same day and then released the new clothes the next day so I didn’t even get the chance to ask to combine orders…

Now I see some people who made multiple orders will probably be coming onto the Q&A requesting for shipping refunds, me included.

 

Oh dang, I missed the note about free shipping - could've had $40 of stuff rather than postage stamps but ah well!

 

I have a request. If anyone could be so kind to show me their Leo in different wigs? I currently am finding it hard to model my boy after my sim. I used to buy my wigs from leekeworld but now having to buy from luts. I like luts' wigs but they're not suiting my boy.

Glad yall managed to score some nice clothes at the sale! I am good on clothes from SJ (for now haha). Checked in on my Elf order, knowing it was likely delayed due to US shipping issues, and got confirmation it is ready but SJ is waiting because other items are sitting in customs and havent moved for weeks. So while I am really wishing I had Jade and Flora and the elf outfits in my hands, I'd hate for them to be lost in the mess of customs. Wondering if Jay will end up having to ship my two massive March and April orders around the same time haha. Customs charges may send me to the grave in that case.

 

Jay refunded my shipping fee so I’m good now! I also asked if we can expect anymore new releases for the month and Jay replied the final release will be this Friday for a new MSD doll with limited outfit. That’s it for us SD folks until October.

 

But surely they'd release her in sd too?
Jay told me she'll be available in msd 'too' unless I'm mistaken.
But jay did say that this months doll is celestial themed.
