Whew, it's been awhile since I've checked the forums! Life happens, I guess. I too am excited for the summer sale! I won't be able to buy anything, but I'm really looking forward to their interpretation of an "athletic" woman. I have been trying to shell a character for YEARS and every time there's a muscular body released by another company it misses the mark for some reason or another. So on the one hand I am really hoping that SJ does it "right!"

I also saw the beach teasers, and I believe it's Derek, he looks great!

 

I asked Jay earlier in the year if they could have Derek be a doll of the month or re-release him, and seems like they listened! Love when businesses take an interest in customer feedback! Can't wait to see some of the other goodies, its making me grateful I held off from the temptations of the Napolean drop. VERY curious about a mermaid and a "muscular" female body!

 

Derek is great, I am glad you can purchase him .
But for me - no buy period made me strong! If I buy now I will go on no buy until next year, so it have to be something I really really want
I prefer male dolls, so from this sale maybe only pirate captain is left to see before I decide. But the sale is cool, they have a lot of new stuff, good job Sartoriaj.

 

Also very interested to see the athletic and mermaid bodies! More kid options are nice to see as well, though I don't usually do kid characters.

 

SJ heard us simping over Vittoria and decided to answer our call lmao (also, I was deliberately cringe on their forum when I made my request hahaha)

Those are some really cute kids, and my brain decided to remind me that Talrun does in fact have a young child. Not that I need to shell the whole family, but it's tempting.

Not yet but I am so tempted. They have really lovely faces and lately I've been adding little girl dolls to my collection but I'd love some resin BJD child dolls!

I have left a message with Sartoria J, but after the hideous spate of bad luck I have been having, I'm feeling a tad tense.

 

Oh no! Sorry to hear that! I'm from Vienna and also got a shipping notification (but it hasn't moved since Thursday, tracking only says that the number doesn't exist). I'll keep an eye on it, maybe mine will go to Sydney instead? Maybe they mixed up our tracking numbers?

They just put a notice up explaining the problems with the elf clothes. I thought the pirate themed dolls would be released today, but so far there is nothing

 

I'm sad that it will be harder to get just the outfits , (as I've been ordering them, ) but I do understand they don't want dolls piling up waiting for their clothes. So, I'd rather they fill the outfits orders for the dolls orders with them first... then send those who ordered just outfits when they make them. I wouldn't mind delays...if it allowed me to order an outfit.

 

Yeah, that notice is disappointing. Not that I don't have plenty of clothing already, but... pirates! Good on them for taking measures to keep it from spiraling out of control, though. I hope the delay in the next release doesn't mean anything too bad.

 

I'm one of them waiting for the Jade & Isabelle outfits, and I'm like you, still allow us to buy just the outfit.

I have a feeling the next series is going to be an expensive one. Captain, pirate, woman 1st mate, mermaid, sorcerer, sounds like "Pirates of the caribbean" Maybe we'll have to buy ALL of the dolls & outfits $$$$ $$$$$$

 

@susieagent99 - Yes...mercy...pirates, mermaids, sorcerers...oh my! SJ does give us many (many too many) temptations each release...if it's a theme and dolls I want...it's next impossible to get it ALL at one time. Probably I've settled for many of the recent outfit releases! Plus, it's hard to find good historical/fantasy outfits which his themes lately have been.

It's going to be interesting to see this next release and figuring out what to get or not.

Character descriptions are out at least! Very Pirates of the Caribbean Edmund screams Barbossa to me. Jack reminds me of Will. And if the sorceress would look like Tia Dalma, I would sell my soul to get her But she will probably be a much sweeter mold! Mainly I am interested in the new muscle body for the girls.

 

You know how SJ does things, 1 doll 1 week or 10 days, then another single doll for 1 week/10 days (sigh) oh how she likes to keep us guessing. Why not show us ALL the dolls at once? You know they have already been photographed, why keep us waiting?
(as you can tell, I'm not the patient type when it comes to my hobby) sigh

 

@susieagent99 Exactly what annoys the hell out of me. I am not getting younger, my patience runs out together with my life expectancy, so it won´t be my money that pays her bills if I decide to spend it elsewhere

I am so impatient that I already blew my money on another doll before they showed the piratesAt least I held until summer sale, that's an achievement! But another doll could have been gone before they showed pirates to compare and I couldn't risk it. It's hard buying in the market when everyone has limited releases and you have limited money...

 

Oh no, I ordered the Isabelle outfit and I will be on vacation the last week of August. If they send it in the 3rd August week as they said they would it might arrive exactly when I'm not home. I guess I will write Jay and ask them to hold it off till September.

I hope there wont be any *must have* outfits with the upcoming release, since I don't want to buy a full set doll at this point.

 

Will your package arrive by Postal?
Can you put your mail on "hold" while you are on vacation? If so, when it arrives at your local postal, they will hold the package until you come in to pick it up.

 

I'm gutted that you can't buy just the pirate clothes alone. I love SJ's clothing and waited sooo long to be able to afford one doll so I could get various outfits. Now I have one ordered, I can't buy more clothes for her?! And pirates! I love pirate clothing.

I do appreciate them trying to manage orders as well as expectations and appreciate the honesty, but it is a shame that those of us who can't afford to drop over £1000 for dolls+clothes+accessories+insane shipping prices+customs fees will miss out.

At the very least I was hoping to buy some accessories which I can't make, vs clothing which I can I just might be too lazy to do so haha.

On the plus side, if this timetable sticks for the Versailles dolls, I might get my doll in time for my birthday!

 

Jay just made me cry ... I thought Captain Blackmoor would be the doll I like less, but omg, he is SO hot! And with everything on the Instagram picture that will easily be 1500$, probably much more ... woah. And still 4 other dolls to go ...

 

Agreed @Ashemanu , the Captain looks amazing! I keep telling myself no more big dolls, no more big dolls, no more big dolls..................he is definitely a huge temptation though!

 

I just really want to see the new muscle body, so I know if I’m going to do something unadvisable or not. If it’s like the iple HID girl body, where the muscles are barely there, I’ll pass, but if it’s more defined than say, the new impldoll body that reminds me of a dancer, I might just be tempted….

So now we have the two males - and where are the girls? I really did expect all dolls today, and not ANOTHER wait time for a week or whatever. I feel seriously disgruntled right now. This waiting game isn´t exciting or suspenseful anymore, it´s downright annoying. Why cannot all the dolls appear at one time and people can decide which they want? Now we have to wait again. Why? What´s the advantage, certainly none for the buyer. Sorry for the rant, but I feel led around by the nose right now. I really want to plan my finances, preferably without a stretch of nearly two months now. Ok, if I don´t like it, I can just walk away. But it´s a hobby I still love, and I was really excited for these dolls. Rant over.

 

Same. I don't see the point in this. A lot of people will most likely want to see ALL of the dolls before they can decide which one to get. Now they'll have to wait until the end of the month. I was super looking forward to the girls but the additional wait time sucks :/

Edit: I just noticed that the Mermaid is missing from the schedule they posted. I wonder when she will be up?

 

I can’t find the schedule at all on their website… where are y’all seeing it (and when will I finally see Margot’s new body?)

 

It's in the article that they posted in the "News"-section here on DOA. Right at the bottom of the article. Margot will be shown on August 14th.

Oh my God, you're right, it only shows Margot and Ayla. I was looking forward to the Mermaid the most and was excited to see her today, what a bummer.

 

Edmund is handsome, and I love his expression, but I already have my IH Leonard for the character I'd want him for. (Which is a bit amusing, given the shared theme.) That detailed faceup still makes him tempting, though.

I agree. I think it looks great, it just isn't all that different to their other offerings, particularly if she's clothed.

 

It’s absolutely an incredibly similar silhouette to the MTN and APH bodies! Which saves my wallet some, so I guess I can’t complain.

If you want really muscular 1/3 girls, the options are basically the nobility doll (horrible posing), impldoll old star muscle body, and Miracledoll 68cm before you get into 75+ cm girls, which I don’t mind, but they sure are a size all their own. I’d really like a muscle body that’s like a scaled down version of the DevotionDoll 75F but that was never going to be the body SartoriaJ gave us!

 

I'm usually neutral towards male sculpts, but I just love the pirate men's styling and rugged good looks!

Same. Wishing to get one similar--70 cm or under. I get why SJ couldn't have created a sculpt too different because their clothes still need to fit the body, and creating a new size category is just unrealistic for their workload.

I'd still consider the 65 ATH an SJ upgrade for me at least. I've always loved the taller and more broad-shouldered body of the 64 MTN compared to their other female bodies, but I've always found her limbs to look too spindly.

A lot of female doll bodies that I've seen, place all their aesthetics on torsos and curves alone. Maybe some of us want to see arms and legs variance too! Like give me arm definition or some meatyness; give me thicker calves! The 59 DPN is so nicely balanced in that regards; its why that one's my favourite.

But why SJ are you showcasing your new 65 ATH in such dark photos? How am I supposed to properly assess it??? Edit: Wait, I see the new body comparison in the Main Gallery.

There's an intensity about her features and faceup we haven't seen from SJ's female dolls in a while. And the outfit? Chef's kiss. I'm afraid if I don't get her, it may be a very long time until we get another badass lady again (and the 65 ATH regular price is the most expensive of the female bodies thus far until we see the mermaid).

I can't wait to see Ayla and Marina next. It seems Ayla will be offered in cocoa brown if her hand tattoo is any indication, nice!

Yeah with what many of you are saying! I wasn't expecting to like Margot much, not really needing a lady pirate, but her features are truly striking! I'll be holding off on any decisions till we see Ayla and Marina, but I didn't expect to have to possibly choose!!

Same here. Loving Margo's personality, and the artistic tattoo! The new body might not be groundbreaking, but it would be very useful for at least a couple of my OCs, so... but definitely still waiting to see what the other two ladies look like first!

Wow. So, my second thought about Ayla (after how lovely she is) was, "huh, I think she reminds me of another sculpt?" But none of the ones I was bringing to mind made any sense, so I kind of shrugged it off. I just went back to look at her and it hit me - she makes me think of an older sibling to Tania and Tatiana. And my next thought was, "Oh, no...." There's a reason I have two Tatianas.
If SJ wants to release her in a purple or blue-gray color someday, that'd be even better.

 

Ayla is my favourite so far but I just can't buy another doll! It's a shame I can't buy just the outfit. I love the aesthetic of this theme though.
