Me too, I think their bodies are perfect for my Gnomish character. I'm on the lookout for the right head

I've been wanting to make a Gnome for a DnD character and I can't find the right sculpt. I wanted someone who is smiling and with elf ears, then I realized the perfect sculpt! I will be using a Mei sculpt for this project, LOL Now I want to make her a steampunk outfit. Even so she's a Wizard, she uses gadgets to dispense her magic which she insists are not magic but are her inventions

As for the Mei sculpt, I always thought she would make a nice Vulcan (from Star Trek). Maybe once I'm done with my current doll projects I give that a try.

 

LOL, that's true @EagleVision1999 , but now I'm waffling. I found a smiling face sculpt at DF-H I might like better, but I'm not sure, LOL

 

Hi everyone, I recently received my very first Resinsoul doll, who is a Li. I've been eyeing this sculpt for a while, and I finally decided to get one and turn her into my character Mimer. Sorry about the poor quality picture, it was really dark when I opened her. I am still waiting for her wigs and eyes to get here, and will post some better photos when they get here!

 

I have to restring her, but I've decided that my Gnomish character has to be my Sprite, she's super adorable and smiles, which was important to the character



Congratulations @inkyLand , Li is a gorgeous sculpt. I have one in tan but she and the sprite I've posted here are incredibly loose, LOL. Hope I can restring them tomorrow night as I did get some chording in

@IngieBee - Sprites do have these Mona Lisa smiles, don't they? I always feel my Ariel is secretly mocking me.

 

Does anyone have the 1/4 heeled feet? I'd love to see some more pics, and maybe some measurements (ankle ball diameter, foot length and width). I'm planning to franken some heeled feet on a male body, since LUTS MDF heeled feet are made for the much much smaller girl body.

I wish companies would make heeled feet for both body types

@mxwutter I’ve got a pair. It might be a bit off due to really bad light and my lack of photography skills, but hopefully should give you a general idea. The graph paper is 1/4 inch. Is this what you meant by length? If you meant following the arch of the foot, it’s 6.3cm. I can try again when there’s daylight if you want.



@EagleVision1999 Her face up is beautiful. I like the white eyelashes and her dress and wig look very coordinated.

@inkyLand Congratulations! Consider yourself warned- they’re addictive. I thought I’d only want one, but currently have two and am considering a third.

@Azure Agape , Honestly, they all look better in owner pictures. RS and Bobobie have some seriously bad photography going on there, and that's coming from ME! LOL

 

I've got a bit of a conidium here; I wanted to upgrade my Ju to a newer double jointed body, but I didn't realize how much she had yellowed and the normal resin doesn't match anymore. Should I have someone blush the head to match the new body, or order a custom colored body from resinsoul that will match her current resin color? I'm mostly worried about the body yellowing at a different rate from the head now.

 

I would blush to match, personally. If the custom color you order is slightly off for whatever reason, or the older resin head continues to yellow faster (or slower) than the newer body, you'll have to blush to match anyway

 

Well, I've given up on my bodies for my sisters, Mei and Ya. I restrung Mei's body and it was a little better, but then there were In-stock Rong bodies at DDE so I put 2 on layaway. I hope they pose better. I know that I like the look of the Rong body better, besides, if Mei is going to be my temptress Fey, she needs bigger boobs
I also want to give them my own face-up. You all have done some very pretty things with yours.

She is so beautiful! I love her white eyelashes and wig. And dang you did her lips awesome! I was really drawn to her lips they are just so full and pouty.
I am waiting on my Xun ("patiently" yeah right! lol)

 

@NekoMel Yeah, I also really liked her lips in the promo pics, I was kinda inspired by them. The white eyelashes and the colorscheme was also broadly inspired by them. At long last ResinSoul has learned how to display their products
At least for her the waittime shouldn't be too bad, right? Unless you ordered via Deverdoll or something.

 

I emailed Sun directly so the wait time was quoted at 2 months, which ends next week for me! I couldn't agree more, they really showed her off in their pictures. I loved how ghostly she looked. I originally would have jumped on the cat ears, I have a weakness for things like that, but the transparent parts really made me get a ghosty vibe from her. I waited over a year to finally have my husband convince me to just buy her. I asked for parts of her to be transparent and other parts white. I also requested body blushing in blues in whites. I was really pulling from her promotional pictures too

 

@NekoMel Oh, so you ordered her in white skin? With faceup, too? I really hope you'll show her off, then, when you finally have her because that sounds interesting.

 

Of course I wanted to try and see what she would look like with the company face-up (blues and whites) and then possibly alter it to fit her character better; well once she tells me who she is! But she will be white resin head, torso, upper arms, and thighs. Transparent elbow, forearm, wrist/hands, knees, calves, ankles/feet. And an extra set of jointed hands transparent. All of them body blushed to match the face up in blues and whites.

I ordered her a blue wig and eyes and dress as well for now until I find the perfect forever eyes and wig and make her some clothing. I didn't order shoes though since in my mind ghosts don't wear shoes

Ever since they posted her promotional pictures I kept thinking ghost girl. I have plans in the future to get another of her but in normal skin tones and make her have a living twin, but for now that's just in my brain as a back burner character idea.

 

@NekoMel Just as well that you didn't order shoes, her feet are pretty small and won't fit standard MSD size.
I was thinking more along the lines of "water spirit" for mine but the colors ended up a little dark. Mine is in normal skin, but she's pretty pale, I was initially surprised by it, but she looks good next to my white skin DollZone girl. I think RS's white skin is more paper white, though, from what I've seen.

 

Good to know about the feet! Thank you for the heads up I was actually thinking maybe like wraps around her feet like old fabric torn and wrapped. But I will see after I get her.

I do hope it's as paper/snow white as possible. All the better for a ghost girl I saw their resin examples and it looked like it was super white. I don't have many resin babies anymore to compare tones but I have noticed I usually go for Tan and darker tones and fantasy colors. So I am excited to see a white skin for a change.

I might have to see if my daughter will let me compare Xun to her Dollzone Miyou (he's in pink, but looks oh so pale to me) once I get her. Just for my curiosity. My Bobobie Elfkin is Lt. Tan so I am curious how much darker she will look as well.

 

it's like liquid paper whiteout - almost blindingly white - at least my girl was when I got her. You'll definitely want diffused light for photographing her and she might be really difficult to photograph next to your darker dolls

 

Ooo that is a good ghost white then. May need a bit extra shading though lol
Thanks for the tips, I have been looking at DIY doll lighting for photos, I will include diffusing lights My husband got me a camera few years ago to take doll pictures and I've been experimenting since.
I will have to practice before doll family photos Side note my daughter and I are a very pale white while my husband is a fairly dark black man, we have to try a lot of contrast and lighting for our photos together so I have mild experience with working on editing them on the computer to help

 

Do you have any old, thin, obviously meant to be used once and thrown away plastic bags laying around/stashed anywhere? Those make excellent diffusers when tied around your camera's external flash I have fancier photography lights, but what I use most are daylight bulbs in clamp lamps with a piece of super lightweight nylon across it (secured with painter's tape). My other favorite trick is to hold a bright white glazed tile directly in front of my flash to create indirect lighting. Again, I have fancier tools, but those consistently get the best results (and then I'm annoyed at the money and storage space the fancier stuff takes up)

 

I have those bags everywhere. I use them to make plastic yarn to crochet bags or bag holders for the kitchen. I usually use them because they rip so easy I can't use them for kitty litter lol! I will stash one in my desk for the camera Thank you!!
Yeahhhhh I have went all out with some of my other hobby tools and ended up using my household/homemade items way more often but luckily I have all the items you suggest We moved in not long ago and the last owners left us all the extra tiles including nice bright white ones and daylight LED bulbs! I will have to experiment as soon as she gets here and share some pictures! I appreciate your help and suggestions

Currently I have a Resinsoul Pi that I am working on getting together; when I left the hobby I didn't have much for him...but getting him out of storage after all these years was nice.

Hi again everyone! My dear Mimer finally received her wig and clothes earlier today, and I could not be happier with how she looks. I've been wanting to bring this character to life for many years now, and I am absolutely ecstatic to finally have her here with me, all put together.

 

She looks too sweet to have a shotgun!

 

@IngieBee she does, doesn't she? She is a pretty sweet and gentle person, but she is also a tough, capable hunter who knows how to fend for herself, and I think that makes for an interesting contrast!

 

Yah, I like it My Li desperately needs restringing!

 

Alright my ghosty girl finally came! My resinsoul Xun. I haven't discovered her name yet. She's beautiful though! White and transparent resin that they body shaded in blues and whites like I asked. They even matched both her original hands and the jointed hands I ordered separate. They gave her a beautiful face up as well, but I added on to it. Our weather is terrible for the next few weeks, so no Mr. Super Clear for me. Before the weather got bad this morning I did alter her lips and give her lashes I need to get some better elastic for her and restring her, she's a wee-bit kicky.

@mollym Thank you! I couldn't help but dig out my moon lamp after seeing her in person. I have props and material ready to make her clothing and such but we have birthdays and holidays coming up so I am being patient.

Love your Xun @NekoMel BTW restringing won't help the kickiness. When you restring her, make sure you hot glue suede the joints, especially in the knees and elbows, or suede with your favorite method. She'll be much better. Also, don't you love that body?

 

speak for your own experience, restringing is all mine have needed to pose like champs (and it absolutely solved kickiness issues for me). I generally don't suede my dolls, and if they come to me sueded I usually remove it

 

@Girrl ,Yah, I guess that's my own experience, sorry if I sounded pushy. I have never gotten my RS dolls to stop kicking without more help. But if better chord can help without sueding, all the better.

I will forgot about hot glue suede, I had to when I owned my Bobobie Ariel. She was stubborn lol! And I do love her body, its so shapely and beautiful. I also like not having the lower abdomen joint, I never had luck with those

What size elastic did you switch too? When I had my old Ariel even with a thicker slightly longer elastic she kicked the crud out of me. I ended up using hot glue suede just to have to sit without buckling over.

So far I have fiddles around with some props with her, but still storms and humidity and on and off tornados so no new pics yet. This weekend is looking nice though I may escape and try for some fun ideas I have had. Wish me luck

 

I have at least 3.5mm in their arms, and 4mm (maybe 4.5mm) in the legs - basically the thickest elastic I can possibly stuff through the channels
Bobobie and Resin Soul are, in fact, different companies, and (imo) RS has better engineering than BBB. Unless your Ariel was on a RS body it's not an entirely a fair point of reference.

 

Yeah I knew they were vastly different, and the Ariel was a fair bit old. But I figured it was the best comparison to my other dolls seeing as my only other resin currently is my teeny Bobobie Elfkin and she was easy to fix with just some wiring (pipe cleaners) and no need to re-string.
I agree with the better engineering by a long shot. I love some of Bobobie's faces but for bodies I would go Resinsoul all the way

I just got my Wu into his summer outfit and I'm so happy I invested in new strings for him. He poses like a champ now!

 

I should be running to the store tonight or tomorrow so I can get some new string for my Xun. Of course before she got here I had plenty of time and now it's busy lol! But I have been tossing around names and having her sit with me while I craft hoping to have something fit her name or personality. So far I have a decent idea of who she wants to be but her name is a no go still. But she will tell me in time. My lil fairy waited 2 years to fit a name

 

Hello all. Just wanted to hop in to share my sweet Tesni with her new eyes and wig and also get some advise for posing.

She's a bit hard to pose, especially her legs. :/ She doesn't stand on her own so I bought her an MSD sized doll stand to help with the weight of her wings and tail.
I'm a little intimidated to try the hot glue suede but I also find that even after restringing her she's still a little too tight, even with ample string. Any advice or tricks? When you do the head s-hook do you prefer to have it attached to the legs or the arms? I've read a few threads on restringing but wanted to know if anyone else with a Zhen knows which way is best. ^ ^

I bet they would! They have done far more extreme requests than that so i don't see why they wouldn't

 

The weather finally gave me a break...by break I mean the humidity dropped to 52%. I have had the worst luck every getting a day I could do her faceup. I finally gave in. Mr. Super Clear did well actually. No bubbles or issues. I spent the better part of a full day running in and out spraying her and working on layering her face. I am finally happy with how she turned out. I was excited to get a name and story from her, Melody the ghostly girl.
I also found one last pair of DIY eyes in my stash. So Melody got them

I now just keep thinking ahead but I want to get some water pictures of her before I re-string her.

Now I need to get my butt moving and clear up the table to sew. I bought some materials for her...now to find a pattern too...
