    2. I'm super interested in attending this and hosting some panels!
As someone who's been in the BJD community since 2006, is there anything anyone in particular is most interested in seeing in a panel?

    3. Registration is now open!!!

    8. Iโ€™m so excited about Resin Rose! It will be my first time going!

      • x 2
    9. My first time going to Resin Rose as well! (Also my first doll con. Does anyone want to meet up? lol) Super excited that Cocoriang will be there.

      • x 3
    10. Iโ€™d be happy to meet up with you! :D RR is super fun, really well-run and very organized. I really enjoyed my trip last year!

    11. Ahhh that'd be great! I'll send you a message

    12. I'm excited to be invited to Resin Rose this year. I will be there the entire weekend and will be photographing and videoing the event for your future memories.

If there is any special photos or videos you would like to have look me up any time during the event. I will be happy to fulfill your request.

      • x 1
    13. I'm so excited already. We've got several dolls who will need new faceups before the con.

    14. I just booked my room for the weekend. I'm excited about coming out and documenting your event for you all.

    15. Oh, I need to book mine... last year I wasn't in the room block, and it was not the most accessible part of the hotel, couldn't use one of those luggage cart things because there were steps from the lobby to the elevator.

    16. As someone who's still relatively new to the scene (started BJD collecting in 2021), I would love to see more "intro" or "basics" panels. I went last year and happened upon two very kind ladies in the DIY room who showed me how to restring a doll, but I've already forgotten. And, yes, I can watch a YouTube video on it, but I find I learn so much more when I can do the task alongside the instructor. Other ideas: faceup basics (tools, techniques, how to seal, etc.), simple sewing patterns, or wig making. I loved the resin eyes workshop from last year, and wouldn't mind doing it again.

      • x 1
    17. Thanks for replying to me :D
I went ahead and submitted panels for photography and wig making. If you want to catch me any time during the con I'd be happy to do demos on restringing too~ I wanted to do that one as well but the Expo only would let me do two LOL

      • x 2
    18. I really want to get into the mug decorating workshop... last year I was just down at the table the whole time, and didn't do any panels/workshops/meets, but I can't resist that one. Eddie needs a mug!

    19. Our scheduling is partially up. We still have about 4 more classes we are confirming and have space for 3 more if anyone is interested in running one.

      Panels & Classes

We will still have the DIY room one the second floor of the hotel where you can restring, hot glue suede, make plushies and decorate your headbands or just want a cool and quiet place to hang out at. That room should be open from 10am-10pm on Saturday and Sunday.

    20. I've never gotten to attend a convention, could I hear a little bit more of what it's like? Is there a sales room for dolls? Or is more of a giant meet-up?

      • x 2
    21. A little of both! Thereโ€™s a big sales floor and then other areas for meets, classes, swaps, etc. Resin Rose is a super fun event to attend and Iโ€™d highly recommend it!

      • x 2
    22. I'm attending, it'll be my first doll convention and also my first convention since the pandemic ^^; !!! I'm really excited but nervous, being in crowds in a post-covid world instinctively makes me a little anxious haha!

    23. Resin Rose BJD Expo is a 3-day event that will take place on August 11th-13th, 2023 at the Monarch Hotel and Convention Center in Clackamas Oregon. It will include 50+ vendors including invited BJD artists. Our special guest vendor from South Korea, CocoRiang, will be returning. We will have a meet and greet dinner that will include prizes and a swag bag. There will be a variety of workshops and classes. There will be a DIY room where you can work on restringing, hot glue sueding your doll, making a plush animal or decorating a headband. We will have a Pajama Party, a Swap Meet, Photo Opportunities, Meet-ups, Contests, Door Prizes and a Closing Ceremony with a Charity Raffle. Our theme this year is "A Day at the Cafรฉ".

    24. Last year was my first time attending, and first time at a doll convention. As someone who is used to attending large conventions and conferences, I would say this one is very manageable. For me, the most crowded moments were the Friday night dinner (3-day passholders only) and the final ceremony. But I never felt overwhelmed, even in the vendor room, which could get busy especially when it opened each day. Overall, I really enjoyed it and it felt great to be around people who shared my love for dolls. I hope you have fun!! Feel free to say hi! Iโ€™ll probably still have my V-shaped, aka โ€œvampireโ€ bangs. :)

      • x 4
    25. We were a little anxious last year-- my sister and I are vendors and we're both medically vulnerable, so last year and this year I skipped out on the Friday night dinner. But everyone in the vendor hall was masked, and we made it through the weekend with no one in our party getting sick. Unmasked to eat/drink/blow my nose when my summer allergies acted up and stayed masked the rest of the time, and it worked out really well!

      • x 2
    26. Oh, that's fantastic to hear!! I'm also a little bit medically vulnerable, so I've really been hesitant to do any kind of large outings. I hope everyone will still be conscientious this year. I hope vending goes great for you and your sister this year!

I hope I can see you and your dolls!! I'm passing on the Friday night dinner, and the vending is what excites me most, so I'm really relieved it wasn't too crazy last time!

      • x 2
    27. Thanks! We're definitely looking forward to it-- and yeah, it was great having the mask rule... we would have had to spend more time switching off between being on-table and being in my room if masks had been optional, to further limit exposure. As it was, eating meals in the room and only unmasking for sips of water/coke and quick snacks, with the other vendors also only unmasking during lunch or to drink, it was really reassuring to see how serious everybody took it.

I'm also really excited about the vendor hall being expanded and the photo area being moved, although I guess it'll mean taking more of a trip from the table and choosing which dolls to take per trip more carefully... but it's gonna be worth it to get to have more space for the con. (and, of course, to have more fellow vendors to shop at... definitely looking forward to that)

      • x 1
    28. I'm excited about the expanded vendor hall, but will not be able to attend this year. Maybe next year!

    29. Got my tickets for this year squared away! Spouse and I are going for two days this round : D

    30. I am going this year!!! I got my hotel and airfare and event tickets :sumomo:

    31. Our 3-day passes and tables are almost sold out. We have 10 3-day passes left and 13 vendor tables. 2-day and 1-day passes are unlimited.

    32. Our 3-day passes are now sold out.

We have 9 vendor tables left after our vendor hall expansion. We are up to 57 vendors total right now. (not all are posted on our website yet. They are still paying off their layaway)

We opened up a pre-order for our convention doll- Rosette (based on our mascot)- Rosette BJD

We have also added a VIP ticket to our PJ party. You'll get 2 beverages (Beer, Wine or Soda), Snacks and Desserts as well as a raffle entry for a BJD. You can still attend the PJ party without a VIP ticket and still participate in the other games and prizes offered. You can also purchase beverages from the Bar without a VIP ticket. 33. I'm seriously considering attending Resin Rose this year with my hubby, especially after looking at last year's photos! It looks like SO much fun! Been in the hobby since 2006 and attended many conventions, but this would be my first ever doll convention. I've read the policies on the website and was wondering: if I bring one of my modded hybrid dolls (provided his body gets here before then) should I bring his COA with me? I purchased him secondhand via the marketplace here and have his QR thingy that he came with, so it's no problem to pack it. I just want to make sure I do everything right. ^^

Also, do attending dolls get a badge/wristband there or should I make one?

      • x 1
    34. We hope you can make it to Resin Rose.
We don't actively check each doll for being legit. It is more of an honor system.
We will have little neck badges for dolls that match the human 3-day badges.

    35. Thanks so much for your quick answer!

Now I just have to make sure we can fly with bjds. If everything goes well (and I hope it does!) we'll be snagging a couple 2-day passes!

    36. You're welcome. If you have any other questions, just let me know. I hope you're able to make it.

    37. Chances are looking pretty good so far! :D

And I do have another question that might help others also coming from afar: Do you know if there are taxis or buses from the airport to nearby hotels? It looks like the hosting hotel is restricting Saturday reservations on their website, but there seems to be hotels within walking distance available.

    38. That's great to hear.
Please call the Monarch at 800-492-8700. They may be sold out of rooms online but my be able to add you to the room block if you call. If you do call please use our code RRBJD23 or mention you are with Resin Rose to get the discount.

There are many options to get from the airport to the hotel. There are taxis, uber/lyft, the max train green line. The hotel also has a shuttle bus if you are staying at the Monarch. The website has more info on transportation Maps & Directions - Monarch Hotel & Conference Center

There are several hotels in the same area as well- The hotel address (12566 SE 93rd Ave, Clackamas, OR 97015)
The newly built Residence Inn by Marriott Portland Clackamas
The Quality Inn and Suites Clackamas Portland
      The Sunnyside Inn and Suites
Courtyard by Marriott Portland Southeast/Clackamas. These are all under a 1 mile radius from the Monarch.

    39. So tempted to travel for this even if just for a day... for all who are going, I hope it's a blast!! Please take pictures!!

      • x 1
    40. Oh my goodness, I might actually make this con after all! I thought the sold out meant the whole EVENT was sold out, not just the 3-day passes. It's the weekend before my birthday, so that means I'm practically obligated to go, right? :XD: Thank you for sharing the alternate hotels!

      • x 1
    41. Sorry about the confusion. We have unlimited 2-day and 1-day passes available. Our 3-day passes is the only one limited because the space available for the dinner. Hope you are able to make it

      • x 3
    42. Yes! I have my badge, travel arrangements, and PTO all ready to go. I'm already excited! This will be my first time attending and first time visiting Oregon. :3nodding: Hope to see everyone else attending and your lovely dolls soon!

    49. Any idea when we'll be able to sign up for the mug making?

    50. We have not received information from the person running the panel yet

    51. Thanks for letting me know! I'll just have to keep remembering to check the website.

I am SO excited for the vendor's hall this year, 63 vendors! (I'm also definitely limiting myself when it comes to which dolls I bring-- gotta have room in my bags to take home what I buy...)

    52. Who's excited? ME!! :D Got everything packed and ready to go. Can't wait to see everyone there!

    55. THRILLED. I've got to get some last-minute stock stuff for the table, I'm so behind on some of it, but then we'll be packed and heading up from Salem.

(If I can make the time, I'd LOVE to get my newest boy painted so I can get good photos of him... but I've gotta put shop stuff first at this point)

    56. Forum Reminder:

Even in a list of vendor at attending a doll convention, you cannot advertise banned members or their dolls on DoA.

      • x 1
    57. Oh, for real? I'd love to try and do photos with you! Are there any dolls in particular you'd like to take photos of?

    58. Unfortunately, Cocoriang will be unable to make Resin Rose this year due to Typhoon Khanun

    59. I'll do photos with any doll you may be interested in shooting.
