Resin Comparison New Comparison Photos (Iplehouse, Sartoria J, Luts, various others):

Apr 22, 2014

    1. Thought I'd do another update to my comparisons! Examples in the top two photos all arrived since the start of 2020.

Not included is my example of Dream Valley purple, which looks very much like Youpla purple, only noticeably darker.

      Older images below:

This is the new version of Amber-Beige from Sartoria J, Iplehouse Glow Real Skin from the latter half of 2019, and an example of Luts' Real Skin Brown from early 2020. The Migidoll Suntan is a few years old, however.

Note that the two different Sartoria J examples are supposed to be the same "amber beige" color (close enough to match with Iplehouse RS), but aren't. The one in the middle is closer to Dollshe's Honey Mango Oriental (on right).

This photo includes the more recent Iplehouse RS resin, without french resin in it.
The photos below have the older RS and LB resins.

I tried to adjust this one as best I could, but it's not perfect - the AoD and Volks resins are closer to true below.
I was honestly surprised how close PG and SB are - the first being just a little lighter and pinker than the second.

Impldoll's Real Skin is a bit darker than both Volks Pureskin and the Elfdoll Normal above, but closer in hue to the Elfdoll.
The Iplehouse Normal is even paler than Volks Pureskin. SOOM Brown Tan is lighter and pinker than Iplehouse Lt Brown.
      In short: nothing here matches.
The funny thing is, LUTS Light Tan looks much closer to Iplehouse Realskin in person than it does in this photo.

And the old one, because the colors are a touch more accurate and it has one resin that I no longer have in my possession:

If anyone wants to add their own related pictures to this thread, feel free. ^_^

    2. This is great!!! Thank you so much. Need more of these types of comparisons like you are so lucky to share.

    3. You're welcome. ^_^ But I should probably add that I posted this before the news that Iplehouse had changed their resin since the beginning of the year, so people should see the thread on that too!

    5. that is really helpful to me,good job,but I think it's better to put the similar skin color together,It will help others to choose the similar color body for our dolls

    7. Does anyone here know what skin tone(s) closely match the Angell Studio suntan??
(I know that this is a rather older post, so if no one responds it's okay)

    8. Sorry to say, but tans are very difficult to find matches for, in general, and it doesn't seem like many people here own AS tan dolls (and/or other tans to compare them to). It's a lovely light color, honestly. There are a handful of companies out there that will try to match a color sample that you send them, but I don't have that list, myself. May I ask what you are trying to match?

    9. I'm looking at getting a AS Rone second hand (about two years old predicted by the girl, but she thinks he may be older). The girl says that he's Suntan, but in the pictures and comparing to the suntan offered currently by AS, it doesn't quite look right. Due to this, I was trying to find jointed hands to match the old suntan for this bjd.
      Here is a resin comparison:

    10. From your image, I wonder if that's just a product of age and/or light exposure causing the resin to yellow. Some people have actually deliberately exposed doll parts to sunlight to change their tone - though obviously, you do have to be careful to keep it even. Dying tends to be hit-or-miss, but it can be done as well. Just a thought in case you can't find a perfect match. Good luck!

    11. Adding another photo up top.

    12. Adding yet another photo up top.

    13. Thanks for the reference! I actually just ordered DS Arsen in Copper Oriental and Ausley in Mango so I can't wait to see how they look when I get them!:)

    14. I wish more companies would offer extra parts in darker tones. Some places will sell the full doll in a beautiful tan/ebony/etc color, but then there are no extra hands or feet. Makes me a little worried that when (not if lol) I break a doll's hand(s) I won't be able to find a replacement.

    15. Agreed. Of course Iplehouse can't guarantee a perfect match if you order parts separately, but at least they do offer it!

    16. yes that's better than nothing!

    17. I want to know for those who have Iplehouse BJD with new and old resin if the BJD with new resin yellowing less than olde ones.
For example, if you take a period of 5 years, does the new resin really yellow less than the old one?

Obviously old resin of 10 years old would be more yellow than any other resin less aged that's why I asked a comparison for the same years passed.

And I want to know in how many years the old resin Iplehouse will start to yellowing.

And does the new resin match with the old one ?

      Thanks for your help. :)

    18. @Hologramme - That's a good question, and you might want to repost it in one or more of the IH discussion threads to get more peoples' responses. The problem is, it depends on both what colors you're interested in, and what time period you're asking about, since they've changed resin formulas and color mixes a few times over the years. The earliest version of Real Skin had the most obvious problem with yellowing, or greening as it were. They replaced that with a more UV-resistant version years ago. Then they removed the "french" resin from their formula right around the end of 2013 / start of 2014, so dolls with the most recent version can't be much over 6 years old yet.

I can tell that my oldest Real Skin dolls from around 10-11 years ago have yellowed a little (though not so badly as to look unnatural), but since they had the french-resin formula, that was to be expected. Parts ordered in the newer resins will not match them. My Real Skin dolls from around five years ago don't seem to have any yellowing at all that I can tell, but the color at that time was not only completely opaque, but also a little darker and more olive to begin with, so comparing them to my most recent Glow-RS dolls, which started out pinker and are slightly translucent doesn't really answer the question.

I think if you were trying to match parts from different time periods with RS resin, it wouldn't be easy.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you as much about their other colors.

    19. Thanks for your answer @Sianserais, you give me some important informations.
I thought Iplehouse changed only one time his resin formula.

I ordered two BJD (normal skin and grey skin) in early 2016, so my dolls are supposed to not have french resin in it ?

So, the new resin is sligthly translucent, good to know.

I would post my question in an IH thread but I have to confess I come here from time to time and I'm not very familiar with the forum.
I'm sorry for posting my questions in the wrong thread.

    20. Correct - none of their resins have french resin in them now.
However, only the "Glow" versions of their current resins are translucent. If you ordered the regular kind, they won't be.
And it's not that you posted in the wrong thread, really, it's just that fewer people will see it here.
I suggest asking in this thread if you want more information about other colors - /threads/iplehouse-discussion-yid-nyid-sid-eid-hid-part-11.810973/
