Narae and Narin 60cm Discussion part 2.

Whelp. A year after I bought my Narin head, the body I ordered for him shipped. Yay! now I get the "will it work??" anxiety until it gets here.

It's really been almost exactly a year, just a week off.

 

Oh my stars, the new 58cm Fusion body looks so graceful and lovely! I adore the mini Fusion body, and was really excited for the big one to possibly use with a Feeple60 head. Sadly the bust (however beautifully sculpted) is simply too small for my character . . . I look forward to seeing lots of owner pics though! I bet it will be so fun to pose.

@VampireAngel13 ~ now that is some patience, congrats! I'm crossing my fingers the body will work out for you, Narin is such a handsome sculpt.

 

He is! I really hope it fits. I ordered from Dollshe, so I knew what I was in for lol BUT it actually shipped pretty fast (for them). I ordered last June, so it's not even been a year! I almost feel guilty for getting mine so fast....

I can't believe she is with me since already 4 years. I still feel like she's one of my newer dolls!

 

I forgot to post him here now that he's nearly done. Well he's far from done, but he's a doll.

I probably should have gone back and dealt with his ears a bit more, but I had to do so much modding just to get him to fit on his body that I was done lol
Plus I really wanted to do a faceup on him.

Edit: he's on the Dollshe 28M L4 body and wearing an old Iplehouse shirt from like, 2009...so it's bad. But I don't have a lot of clothing that fits this body so he has no choice (or he can fight Bruce for his clothes. which would be amazing and I want someone to draw it now. my next commission I think...lol)

You never can tell on those long waits. I sold the first doll who made me wait over a year, but possibly bought it back years later...
This guy was worth it. Now I just have to get his other head finished and the hands modded and costume done. Woo!

 

Bimong has changed his ordering policy recently to prevent the long waits. He is a perfectonist and was offering dolls before he got the final production samples perfect. I have had some long waits but he is no where near Dollshe's status!

 

Nah, it's Impldoll. Ordered through Alice's Collection. I have no idea what's up?? But it's been a weird year, and I think some orders could have been lost in the chaos???

I didn't wait long at all for my Bimong head....but the body I ordered was Dollshe and that was a wait. Still not long by their standards as it wasn't even a year. But I had the head for months before I even ordered the body so the full doll wait was a year. Then I had to mod the heck out of him to make the hybrid work, so that was more time! He's been a process XD

@IngieBee uggghhhhhhh yeah it's probably the "times" (as I hear constantly, especially when it involves shipping). I don't know that I've ever heard of AC losing orders, but it wouldn't hurt to gently prod them to see if they have any updates, just to make sure. Impldoll might just be backed up, or it's possible they're getting all the small orders out of the way before a larger group order....either way, good luck. I hope you get a shipping notice soon!!

 

I have received my fusion body! She's in a box as her head is leaving soon for a faceup.

I've got the same problem with DoA alerts. I just have to check every once in a while on the forum list. It's really annoying because sometimes I miss pages and pages, and it's impossible to catch up @StrontiumDog

 

The neck is too short, but that's an easy fix with a neck donut ^^

 

Hello fellow Bimong lovers I regret that I cannot help with the last posted question but as I've been taking time to work on and enjoy some of my very old dolls more again, I wanted to share my Bimong Narin N611 (hybrid) and see what everyone is up to these days with their large Bimong dollies.

Hi, thought I'd update with some news since Bimong has not posted about it: You can order a Narae on the fusion 58 body fullsets currently! I have messaged Bimong on Instagram for three consecutive Decembers now beause I regretted missing the single preorder in 2020, and this year, he finally responded that he is accepting orders. I already placed and paid my order for a 58cm fusion body with a N60S head. A christmas gift to self!

He said production time is 3-5 months. This time he does not sell bodies separately, only full dolls. This time he only accepts orders through messages (I placed mine on Instagram), not through website. There is a picture of the new N60S head from August 18 on his instagram page, I reckon that's what I'll be getting. I'm not sure if Eva is available as a head option this time as I did not ask, but he did also post a picture of Eva's reworked master sculpt so I'd imagine she can be bought too.

I asked if the body is the same as it was in 2020, and he told me that only knee joints and hip joints have been improved, but it's probably more poseability-related modifications than those that would affect the appearance.

Thought someone might find this useful since there is so far no public post from him letting us know that he's selling them again.

 

I haven't ordered from Bimong is a long time! Now I'm getting an ich for a new Narin!

@vauhtikatti and @StrontiumDog - thank you both for your updates, i hadn't seen anything about the 1/3 size in a while, so it was the nudge i needed to ask him about a Narae he really is so kind and fast to respond

The new Narae, she can join my male version, here is a bit of doll tax of him. Maybe one day i can get one of the Narin bodies, but it would take some modding to work. so he is on a DZ B-60.

So, I am entering this thread for the first time, shouting, "Why on earth did I not pay attention to Bimong earlier??" I feel like I've known about Bimong and the Narae/Narin sculpts ever since I joined the hobby in 2009, but somehow I never got around to looking at his dolls in any detail. Yesterday I was browsing the MP, randomly checked out a Bimong doll for sale... and realized immediately that I was looking at an extraordinary doll body. Which led me down to the website and Instagram... and oh, boy. I've never fallen so hard for any company/sculptor since I fell in love with Dollstown back when I was a BJD newbie.

I want a 1/3 Bimong doll. The heads are beautiful. But more than the heads I want at least one of those bodies, which look amazing and so posable. I've been wanting to update some bodies in my current doll crew, and I'm gonna check if 58cm Narae and 65cm Narin have hybrid potential. Seriously, this discovery is threatening to alter my already-made doll plans for this year... but I don't mind! Time to stalk the IG and see when Bimong opens preorders next.

 

I contacted Bimong through Instagram back in January and asked if any of his 1/3 dolls were available. Bimong told me Narae58 fusion and Narin68 fusion could be preordered as full dolls, so I went ahead and ordered Narin68 from him. This was all done through Instagram DMs and I paid by PayPal. These dolls weren't advertised at all, I found out by asking Bimong directly.

Bimong gave me a lead time of 6 months, so I checked in with him in July. I understand that he wanted to redesign Narin68 fusion based off the existing Narin65 fusion, but this redesign was delayed. He gave me an updated lead time - shipping by end of this year. He offered me a refund because of this delay, but I'd like to receive Narin, so I opted to wait. I'm going to check in with him again in late Oct/early Nov.

I don't know if you can still preorder the 1/3 dolls at this stage. Worth asking Bimong directly about it.

 

@StrontiumDog thank you for your kind words about my boy. his unique faceup is what completely hooked me. they are shimmery silver white and so beautiful in person, I need to work with my lighting to try to get some other shots to show off the pretty caramel tan where it's not over exposed. a necessary evil to pick up his eyes in this case though.

I wound up getting just the head for Narae, to my knowledge the one I got was maybe left over stock. it was cast in an older resin tone, which was fine with me since I wasn't looking for the body this time. I would like one of his bodies eventually though. I will be interested to see how the new engineering and proportions look

 

Bimong told me in the beginning of December last year, when I placed my order, that it'll take 3-5 months to finish the doll. I had no prior experience ordering from him but expected it would be about that, seeing as he's very productive. I asked about the situation mid-March and he said he's still remaking the joints. I asked again in June and he said he's working on the Narae40 currently and it will still take about three months for the big dolls. He also asked if I would want to opt for a refund since it's taking longer than expected.

I thought about it for a while, and decided to request a refund since I had a feeling the 3 months might not hold either, seeing as these big dolls are most likely his least popular size and get pushed aside the easiest. I would have felt more comfortable waiting if I had been waiting for a full doll to use as is, but I was going to ditch the head and use the body for one of my floating heads. She'd been bodyless for so long at this point that I decided to try and get her some other body. Bimong was very nice about the refund and sent it promptly. In 7 years it's the first time I've ever requested a refund due to the wait time being longer than expected (Dollshe aside, but I think we've all done that lol), and it sort of makes me feel guilty seeing as I had been requesting him to make another batch of this body for three years in a row.

 

Well, what do you know. Bimong just teased 1/3 Narin and Narae heads on Instagram. It proves nothing, but perhaps he's starting that update/redesign of the 1/3 doll bodies.

 

Is bimong still taking orders for Narin 65 then? I kind of want that doll sometime in the future…

 

@StarFennec Best to ask Bimong directly - you can DM him on Instagram (@bimong11) and he's very friendly and responsive. Right now he is working on Narin68 and this is the doll I ordered. I'm not sure if Narin65 is also available.

Oh the new Narin elf guy is so handsome! I always thought Bimong makes the best jaw shape.

 

Breaking news from Instagram: Bimong is retiring at the end of this year.

Based on the IG post... There will be a final doll preorder opening in November, for a month. He hasn't said which dolls yet, but I'm willing to bet there will be 1/4 and 1/3 dolls available. He'll make an official announcement about all this later with full details, I'm sure.

I had a feeling there was a good explanation why he was taking so long with the 1/3 dolls order. I think my Narin68 (whom I ordered back in January and PIF already) will be part of this final preorder. I'll contact him to be sure - but I'll give it a few days as I'm sure he's getting mobbed with questions!

It's sad that Bimong is closing up shop, but he's been in the BJD business for something like 20 years, so his retirement is well earned! I'm very thankful that I discovered his 1/3 dolls this year (for some reason I thought he only made slim minis), and I've never been so glad for my insane impulse-buy of Narin68.

 

I have been waiting for a 68cm body for my Narin Elf head. I will have to watch my spending so I can order one!

 

Oh myyy, he will be missed! I have ordered from Bimong many times over the years and even though I don't own most of those dolls now (due to my pickiness and various other circumstances) I treasure the Dandelion heads I have. She will always remain one of my top-favorite sculpts and I hope someday to find the perfect body for the heads to share.

I don't know if I will be able to or want to order anything in November, but we'll see! Tan Dandelions would tempt me, as would 1/3 Naraes - I've gotten used to my 57cm girl so I ought to be able to handle that size now.

I hope I could buy one last bimong doll in November. Just a question, please! What is the most light normal skin color in all the NS he is offering?

 

@Follow-the-Wind - I would say the "D Skin" option. That is what I ordered last year for my Dandelion heads. It isn't white skin by any means, but it is a shade lighter than the "classic normal" skin, so basically a very pale pink-peach color.

Bimong has opened orders via instagram dm – apparently the website will be updated in a few days.
I've ordered via insta and got a reply very quickly: Bimong is great to communicate with!

 

Oh dear, I caved after wanting the jointed hands since Bimong made them. They will not be a perfect match given my Narin and Narae are from 2017. They are super expensive but its the last hoorah and paying them off in 6 parts makes it easier.
Could someone please tell me the actual number for the Narin Elf head? Maybe it also must be added to this final order. Bimong was so lovely in messages.

 

The Narin Elf head is N61E. Congratulations! I have an older Elf head that is selecting a body, but I decided to get the new body, another elf head and the jointed hands! Layaway does help!

 

Congratulations to you too, lucky thing! Getting whole new dolls would be lovely, on a budget I am delighted with two pairs of hands and have now written to see if I can add the elf head. Thank goodness for generous layaway times!

 

Am I missing something? The website still doesn't seem to have been updated as far as I can see, and I'm not on Instagram, so...
(I really shouldn't buy any more dolls this year, but the fusion body was on my list... )
