Mystic Kids 1/4 Discussion

Jan 8, 2013

    1. @PrincessLyra, congrats! I hope you get him soon, well at least better sooner than later right? LOL :D

      I ordered my boy end Jan and he arrived end Mar, so, around 2 months I guess? I ordered him during an event too so it might be why it took a little longer for me. Totally worth waiting thought! :kitty2

    2. It's been a while since I last posted here so I thought I'd share some Lillian love. <3
      I took Jolene out yesterday for a shoot in the mountains and got a couple of really nice shots. This one was my favorite.

      *Edit: After a couple of days I edited and posted a new image from the same shoot, which then became my new favorite. lol So I removed the first image from Flickr and replaced it with this one. ^^;

    3. Hi! I have recently bought Mystic kids Evelyn head, but it will take a while till she arrive and I can´t find anywhere in the internet how long the head actually is. I know, that circumference is 17.5, but that´s all. I need to know the length and width of the head. Thank you for replies!

    4. Hi everyone! Newbie here! So today I just got back from my Post Office to get my MK Nicole! She's my first bjd and I'm so excited she's just too beautiful!!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
      I bought her with the company's faceup and wig, I still need to style it better and fix her eye a little (one of them is looking a lil bit odd) but I'm afraid of touching her eyelashes and ruining them! lol Also I don't know if she's strung very tight or if it's just me being a newb but sometimes her legs/arms would snap back in place. But anyway I couldn't be happier with my choice she has that innocent and kinda sad expression about her she completely stole my heart! :D:D:D
      edit: my pictures are not showing lmao I hope it's ok to just link to my flickr?

    5. So beautiful! :D I love how the wind is causing her hair to billow behind her.

      Your Nicole is SO CUTE! :love Congrats on her arrival! I look forward to seeing more photos of her!

    6. Your Nicole is so gorgeous :love congratulations on her arrival

    7. Thank you! :XD:

      Thanks a lot! I'll be sure to show her again once I make some outfits for her!

    8. congratulations! she is adorable :love does she come with new MK 1/4 body? XD

    9. Yup! It's the new one! :D I really like this new version compared to what I have seen of the old body, the arms look more proportional to me :>

    10. I finally got a shipping notice for my Francis SP! Yiipee!!!:dance

      Now if only his wig hadn't gotten stuck in customs... It's been in there since May, I'm pretty sure he's going to arrive before it does. :vein

    11. Hey again! Just thought I'd drop by some new pics of my cutie since my mother made her new clothes~
      I can't seem to make flickr images work here ( ;__; ) so you can check her on my instagram :kitty2

    12. Hello,:atremblin:atremblin

      I am seeking out some help/advice. I ordered my first doll and she is Mystic Kids Lillian 45cm. Her measurements are posted below. However, i am finding that with sellers and doll clothes designers she is bigger than a minifee...or I guess the 'average SLIM MSD' is what I am being told. She is coming with no clothes at all and now I am stressing that no-one makes clothes that will fit her. I just need a simple style dress to get started with my photography when she comes!
      - I don't have MP access yet
      - I am already sifting through FB sales groups
      - I don't have a sewing machine

      Measurements with Body Ver.I:
      Eyes : 14mm
      * Height : 45cm
      * Head Circumference : about 17.5cm
      * Neck Circumference : 7 cm
      * width of shoulder : 8.5 cm
      * Chest Circumference : 18.5 cm
      * Circumference of waist: 13.5 cm
      * Circumference of Hip: 18.5 cm
      * Arm Length: 13.5 cm
      * Leg Length : 20 cm
      * Thigh Circumference : 10.5 cm
      * Feet Length : 5.5 cm

    13. We have a male mystic kids. I can tell you a few things:
      Their legs are longer, yes-- but standard clothes should still fit. Especially if you'd like to do dresses, skirts, shorts. Pants will fit waist wise, but not length. So they'll be a little high ?At least they are on the boys .We cover that up with boots when we can.

      I have a few MSDs that are 'larger than standard', and they fit fine in Dollmore clothes, Alices collections clothes, Mybayer2008 off ebay, nine9, rrabbit (Though I noticed that the shorts for female are kind of baggy...).

    14. I don't have either a Mystic Kids or a MiniFee but from what I've seen of MiniFee they're smaller than the average MSD (slighter/slimmer at any rate) so their clothes may not fit Mystic Kids but other MSD clothes should (with possibly some variation on length). You shouldn't have toruble finding clothes to fit.

    16. The average MSD is not MNF.
      Even though Fairyland's MNF are insanely popular they are actually pretty much their own subcategory. So called slim Minis (like MNF, Unoa, Narae) are the same height but overall slimmer and less chunky than regular, more child-like MSD.

      So skip any clothes that are labelled for MNF and stick straight to MSD only. Volks MSD, Luts Kid Delf, Soom Little Gem and co. should fit :)
      You can try etsy for example too, just make sure to avoid the MNF and co. stuff.

    17. There's also a lot of great clothes makers on Etsy! One of my favorites is Mobinjo (they are also on instagram and respond super fast to messages) and I believe they take commissions. They even did my commission to my doll's size (doll leaves Ida) which was perfect!

    18. Hey
      Thanks, some of them were confusing me because they say 'SLIM MSD', which I guess isn't my doll? <.<

    19. and that's why I really dislike referring to 1/4 size dolls as "MSD".
      MSD properly refers to Mini Super Dollfie dolls from Volks. Several
      other doll sources offer dolls that are close in size to real MSDs.
      A larger number of suppliers offer dolls that are more slender than
      MSD. The poster child here is MiniFee but Island Doll, Goodreau and
      others also fit the category. As you've seen, slim mini clothing won't
      work on true MSD dolls. To further complicate the 1/4 doll picture,
      Iplehouse JIDs are of similar height so also 1/4 size dolls but they are
      huskier than true MSD. One size does not fit all.....

    20. :crushed:crushed:crushed:crushed:crushed:crushed:crushed:crushed

    21. Correct.
      Also like Tom mentioned, there is the other extreme too. While some companies tried to make MSDs less child like by making them slimmer and giving them overall smaller proportions companies like Iple just beefed them up.

      However, don't worry too much. It's an issue among all sizes. I mostly collect 70cm guys and you got at least three vague base sizes there (slim "Hound", semi-beefy "Uncle" and really beefy EID and co.), and the terms are odd and a weird mixture of badly translated term, actually only refering to a specific doll or a certain line from one company.
      What fits and not fits your doll is something you will learn with more experience, after a while you just know what to avoid and where to shop.

      For now just stick to measurements and comparisons. When one listing says "fits doll/company X", search for their measurements and compare them to your doll.
      If no measurements/terms are available, ask the seller.
      It also doesn't have to be a 100% perfect fit, just like with humans there is a bit of a range that is acceptable (and in some cases desired, if you for example prefer a tight/baggy look instead of regular fit).

      You can also try asking in the Mystic Kid 1/4 discussion thread for help:

    22. Don't worry, there's no need to be too upset! What you have is actually a pretty standard size for MSDs. Minifees and those with similar measurements are indeed called "slim MSDs" and most Etsy shops and individual sellers will say in the listing if an item is specifically for slim MSDs. Most doll companies (ex. Dollmore, Luts, etc.) will fit your measurements, especially, like others have said, if you're not going for long pants, which could be a little short. (I've never had that happen on any of my average size MSDs, but it definitely can happen, so don't underestimate it.)

      If push comes to shove, you can always ask the company or seller for the outfit's measurements and compare them to your doll. Clothes shopping can be a little hairy, but it's really not too bad. And like Ara mentioned, the Mystic Kids 1/4 thread will probably be super useful for you!

    23. I'd also add that having a doll with slightly unusual measurements (Like being a little taller than average-) is an excellent excuse for learning how to sew. ^_^

      Head down to the Crafting forum and join the sewing threads. There are free patterns available from several sites and the gang are usually more than happy to answer questions about resizing patterns to fit different dolls, piecing things together, picking fabrics and all that. Don't worry about being a sewing newbie or starting from square one. There are sewers of all skill levels here, and everybody had to start somewhere.

    24. Hello! <3

      I have ordered Lillian about a week ago from Alice Collections. Just a question on where you guys buy clothes from for her size (fairly inexpensive pls as I am just getting started)? Also, have you made your own clothes yet? Hand sewn? >.<
      Thanks!

    25. From my personal experience, the K2 clothes from Mint on Card fit this doll body quite nicely - the mini girl section for most things, the mini boy section for pants and jeans (her legs are REALLY long). They have some cute things, and many of them are in stock.
      Also, if you're buying a wig for her, I've had good luck with Monique's Gold Label wigs in 6-7 size. A 7-8 will fit, but the amount of hair can overshadow her delicate little face.
      Lillian is an adorable sculpt, and I hope you have many happy times with her.

    26. Hi! Thank you so much I will check those out :)

    27. Hei guys~
      does anyone of you have a Souldoll Vito guy? I'm planning on getting one as a partner for my Mystic Kids 45 cm Boy and the hight difference between those two molds would be interesting to see~ :whee:

    28. Hi everyone!
      I've been looking into getting a Mystic Kids doll (among other dolls) and while there's a few that are definitely beautiful and I would love to own; I've fallen hard for Muxue's sculpt. The problem is, I can't find anyone who owns her! If anyone knows of any Muxue owners or owns Muxue themselves, please let me know! I'd love to see owner pictures to see if she really is the one if possible ^^

    29. Hi friends!!! I just received my Mystic Kids Lillian this week and I'm so excited to have her as my first BJD. Just waiting for clothing to arrive in the next month hopefully. She's so beautiful and I already want to add my next doll to keep her company! ;_;

    32. I just got a male msd body from mystic kids, the new one. The posability is amazing! Quality is really nice too, with no seams at all. I really like the sculpt of the body and hands too! Would recommend the new body from them for any floating heads around ^^

    33. Reviving this thread a bit. I have a question for those of you with the 1st generation girl body. My Evelyn's right wrist kinda... scratches against the s-hook a bit when I move it. It doesn't have quite as much mobility as the left hand. I'm not sure why but I suspect that the elastic channel might not be as large as the other side?

      Does anyone else have that problem?

      • x 1
    34. That's such a good thing to hear, since i just ordered oscar with that body, Would you be able to post any pictures of the body and its posing?

      • x 1
    35. @Hyakkiyago I'm with @Zymi00 I'd also like to see pics of that body. Especially since I've been waiting for about... 3 months now to get mine for a hybrid I'm hoping will work out.

      @HoushiChan Not sure if you still are looking for an answer, but I do have that body. What kind of of movement are you talking about? And where does it scratch? I've just tried both wrists, but it doesn't really do anything - except sometime snapping back into the default position and not bent, like I wanted it. So perhaps your assumation isn't too far off. Alternative I can think of is, that maybe the S-hook is slightly bent outwards somewhere, thus scratching?

    36. I'll see what I can do once I have free time! I have myou /daydream msd bodies to campare, so I can tell it's a great body to hybrid with ^^

    38. Day 103....still no Lillian for me:(. I'm so sad because I just want to start taking pictures of her. That said - your Lillian is STUNNING and makes me even more excited to see her.

    39. I just ordered a full set MK Natalia (45cm) from Alice Collection! :celebrate I'm so happy- this will be my first BJD- and so worried!:atremblin They estimated it to take 3 months to get to me.... :(

    41. I just bought a boy three part body for my floating head. I'm really hoping it works out well. My little redhead needs to run amok, and make his older brother's life more interesting, if not raise his stress level.

    44. Glade is charming and i love his shoes :)

    45. Heeey all! I mentioned this in my Intro thread but it relates, and I'm so glad I found a Mystic Kids thread, since they don't seem to be talked about as much as someone like Resinsoul, ha.... Anyway I ordered a Gene with his faceup, and he'll ship in April! I plan to turn him into Ciel Phantomhive, based on an image Toboso painted ---> https://static.zerochan.net/Kuroshitsuji.full.1883558.jpg here! (The resemblance was uncanny and it was so easily in my price range, I HAD to finally buy my first doll.)

      It'll be a while before he comes though. c: So for the time being, I'm compiling things I'll need like eyes and a wig. For now, finding blue/grey wigs that are nylon and not mohair is kind of a pain, so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know! I have no idea how to do my own wig from scratch, tho I'd considered it. DX So the search continues.

    46. I also ordered a Gene last month through Alice Collections. Where did you order him from?

      If by nylon you mean the thick plasticy fibres, you could try looking at the 6-7 wigs at Leekeworld, they have a lot of colours and have cool unique coloured wigs in the art wig section. Though the sizing unfortunately varies, I ordered two wigs from the 6-7 section but one fit my Tremmel sculpt and the other didn't (it was actually more 6 inches than 6-7) but I'm not sure if the head sculpt size vary amoung the 1/4 Mystic Kids.

    47. I found him on an Etsy listing. c: I checked it over and over worried about a recast, but I didn't see any red flags. I checked out DoA's red flags list, I didn't seem to spot any. I'll be checking his head plate as well when he arrives just in case. His price was around the same as the main site, and their reviews are near-spotless. gene MK mystic-kids Doll 1/4 46cm Boy MSD mini super dollfie BJD | eBay

      I ordered quite a few outfit pieces from Etsy too. There's a lot more listed there than Amazon, which surprised me. Two things shipped, so I should have most of his things before he ships. c:

    48. Haha, amazon is not really a good place to find a variety bjd clothes I've found. Etsy much is better than amazon in my opinion to find bjd clothes. And of course dedicated bjd sites that sell clothes like Alice Collections, TTYA.com, Nine 9 Style, Rrabit, Tree Design, et cetera.

    49. Huh, I haven't heard of the last 2. I'll have to check those out later today. LOL I have no qualms with backlogging other outfits from what I ordered. May have to wait a while to buy some tho, haha my wallet's yelling profanities at me. XD

      I have a little Notepad document I keep tinyurl links to places of things I'm interested in. It helps me stay organized, and prioritize what I needed more than other things. Dunno if anyone else does that. XD I'm kinda doing it right now tho simply because it's hard to remember, since I'm starting with nothing at all. But I'll browse those and link some stuff into it if I find anything!

    51. Just got a Mystic Kids Ophelia via Junkyspot. Eyes weren't installed but included in a little bag and while putting them in, they look really too big, in that they don't show much white, just the dark green. [IMG]

      What's the standard size for eyes?

      • x 1
    52. Mystic Kids usually sends 14mm eyes, but I've found that Kendra (my Lillian) looks better with 12mm, and Quinn (my Illy) needs 10mm to look her best.

    53. Thanks for the response! The eyes she has, the pupils just look way too big, so that all I see is black lol.

    55. Has anyone ordered a Mystic Kids from Alice's Collection? I'm wondering how long it will take for me to get an estimate on my Evelyn's arrival

    56. @angelwingstodust - I did. I got my second boy from there. I think it took around 2 to 2.5 months (only option I got was with faceup, no clothes / shoes). Though when I asked them around 1.5 months after I ordered it they said the current waiting time was 3 months. So I would send Alice Collections a message and see what they say.

    57. I bought my Nicole from them and it took around two months! Very fast considering most companies I see have a 3-4 months wait time, try emailing Alice she's very quick to respond! ;)

    58. Hey everyone,
      So i just stumbled across the gorgeous 1 part torso msd bodied, and they are so fricking beautiful!!! :D:D:D
      I'm considering ordering one at some point (not sure if male or female, i want both lol) but can't seem to find any owner pics or anything about them.

      Anyone have any nudie pics and reviews???
      Does having the 1 piece torso terribly effect their posability and sitting???
      Any reciews and pictures would be very much appreciated. :3nodding:

    59. I have this body! I can't seem to post pictures here but I have some on my IG and can take more if you need to. I don't think the one part takes away any poseability unless you want poses that have to "twist" the upper part somehow, like laying down while looking up, etc. she sits straight and stands very well!
