Meme: Some confession sharing?

Jan 19, 2015

    1. I feel this one pretty hard. Six months waiting for a doll to be made? No big deal. Five days in transit? Nervous wreck!

And so I'm not just piggy-backing, my other confession: For 2014, my New Year's resolution was to stick to a set monthly doll budget. There was not one month last year that I actually stuck to that budget. Not one. :sweat

    2. I don't like having faceless dolls! But no money to get them done...

I'd like a Leonard doll from the Big Bang Theory...but won't do it.

I'd like to sell most of the crew but when I look at most of them...I can't!

    3. Oh my gosh yes. We should be friends haha. Adding a confession of my own, there wasn't a month last year that I wasn't waiting on a doll from Soom. I was not planning to buy so many dolls, but their new SOs are my weakness. Whoops!

    5. So many confessions that resound with me too. OTL

Anyway, I have some to make: I like browsing the marketplace even though I have no intention to buy a doll at the moment. And then I feel like 'saving' all of them. *lol* Fortunately, having no money in the bank is stopping me. XD

      Sometimes I feel like selling my first doll because I seldom play with him, but then when I actually take him out, I just can't bear to do it. ^^;

    7. I actually have no idea what I've named... at least half of my dolls. I can, 99% of the time, name their sculpt, but as to the... name... I've, at some point, given them? Nope. Wouldn't have a clue - and if it wasn't for the fact I'm actually quite dedicated to keeping my DoA profile up to date, I'd never, ever be able to remember them on my own either...

I also have a couple that don't even have names, and... well... I kind of don't even have the inclination to rectify this.

      Oops.

    9. I guess my confession is that I don't do much with my dolls (Unless absolutely everyone is out of the house) I have spates where I will sew and sew and sew but mostly the sit on their shelf looking pretty and canoodling one another. (there's not really enough space up there).

    10. Ok, here's one. I'm thinking of getting a new body for my SD boy because I can't stand his current body's nipples. He poses fine and the resin match is great but those dang button nipples. They look like little googly eyes that someone glued onto the chest and airbrushed to match the resin color.

    11. I confess that there are certain sculpts with smiles that creep me out to the point I will actually avoid looking at photos of them, even though there are other smiling dolls I like just fine.
There are also several companies whose style I don't get the appeal of, but I'm sure that's true for most or all of us.

But the one I really wanted to say is - I'm still seriously tempted, every time I see a sculpt that reminds me of them, to shell a pair of characters from an anime I loved years ago, even though I've sworn all along that I would only spend that kind of money on my own OCs.

    13. I confess that whenever I see Ringdoll's Air Force Wolf I feel a strong need to buy one... even though I already own the doll :doh. This happens very frequently and I fear that if the full set ever shows up on the marketplace my wallet will be doomed ;)

I also confess that the first time I saw this doll I said to myself "he is very cool but not for me and I will not buy one"... I was wong :XD:

I dont want my boys to be by a beautiful girl so they dont see how old and ugly I am.

    16. Me too! I'll also purposely order at friends' houses so they'll enable me to buy!! Then I don't feel so bad ordering another doll!

      Some others of mine:
I treat other people's dolls a thousand times better than my own. And I'll do the faceups on my dolls in the worst weather (rain, sleet, windstorm, snow....) then complain when they don't last or get ruined while I'm doing them...

I have a handful of dolls that would break my heart to lose, the rest are totally expendable.

I also read the bad transactions for the drama - I actually read a lot of threads for the drama....because I'm usually at work and bored.

I buy new dolls just because I want to try a new faceup or style on them and don't want to mess with the ones I already have - I am waiting on a MNM for that exact reason right now, and have spent quite a bit on a wardrobe for this thing, and it's not even here yet.

I have never forgotten any of my dolls - not their names, or molds, or anything - until last year: I won a Doll Family tiny in a faceup contest, put it on my shelf and totally forgot I owned it until a month or so later when I saw similar online and was all "Oh my god. I have one of those." *shame*

    17. I am now scared to take my BJD's outside to photograph them after my Breccia fell out of a tree and broke her fingers and another doll scuffed it's face-up! I love outdoor shoots but can't seem to get myself to do one. So traumatizing!

Oh and I read Problem Transactions threads too! I'm glad I'm not alone!

    18. For one of my classes, I did a presentation about BJD's and brought my dolls in. Morgan fell off the table and took Alma, Chalco and maybe a few others down with him (nobody was hurt, thank goodness!). He is obviously an inanimate object, but he totally fell over because he's an unruly little trash baby and wanted to make some drama.

    19. Both of these could very well be my own confessions, too. :)

I know my dolls are inanimate objects, but sometimes I talk to certain ones as if they can really hear me.

One of my guilty pleasures is to put one of my dolls in my bed with me when I go to sleep. I can only do this when my dog is at my dad's house for her "access visit" because I'm afraid she'd kick them out of the bed at night if I did it when she was at home.

I like to cuddle my dolls.

I'm guilty of what many doll owners would probably call "irresponsible behaviour" with my dolls. I love interesting photos, and so my dolls have been up in trees, perched on tall objects, placed in real water (including the ocean), and touched by real food (including caramel pudding).

    22. I'm a lazy dollie owner. Chulyen, Qwill and Hannah desperately need to be restrung, but I've been too lazy to order the string and do it. Qwill's is the worst, he's almost as floppy as a ragdoll. What's weird is I kinda like it, makes him cuddlier. It's really bad, though. I keep expecting to come home one day and find him in pieces.

Pepper's needed a faceup for months now, and I haven't gotten around to it. I also want new faceups on Leo and Mattie to better match their characters, but haven't gotten around to those, either. Though Roane has a big chip under his lower lip that's pretty obvious I've delayed getting his faceup redone. The faceup delays are partially due to currently being broke, and partially to being indecisive about who to commission, but a larger part is straight up laziness.

I read the Problem Transaction threads too, to know who to avoid doing business with. The drama is a side benefit, admittedly an entertaining one.

I do have a favorite, Chulyen, but don't mind admitting that. One thing I don't like admitting is that I sometimes go through phases where I actually dislike some of my dolls. I'll think about selling them, but various things stop me like laziness (I'm seeing a trend here), or fear of finding myself dealing with some crazy buyer or scammer (thanks, Problem Transactions!). Whatever the reason, I'm glad I don't, because I usually end up falling in love with them again later and wondering what was wrong with me to ever think about selling them.

I'm an individual who normally prides herself on her strong work ethic and ability to make firm decisions, so this laziness and vacillation bothers me.

    24. I thought of a few more that I do.

I keep buying clothes in black. The other day I realized that I didn't even have a white shirt.

I impulsed bought a doll because he looked exactly like one of my OCs.

I love my work at first whether it be clothes, face ups, or anything really. Then I look at other people's work and then I feel that my work isn't good enough.

Those are it for now until I think of a few more.

I spend WAY too much time lurking in threads, looking at dolly photos on here and in flickr!

I love to talk about BJDs in public in a way that can creepy people out: talk about buying one but use a name, state I only want the head and if the other person want the body or the opposite, say names and values they are being sold, talk about taking their eyes or them apart (for stringing or customization).

If I have a doll out or am planning to handle my BJDs, I will not eat food that is greasy (like popcorn, corn on the cob, or other greasy/buttery foods you eat with your hands) until I put them away because I'm super paranoid that there will be some residue still on my hands even after washing with soap and it will ruin my doll's faceup or their clothes. I've though about eating popcorn with a spoon or fork to avoid using my hands but always end up eating something else like yogurt just to be safe LOL.
