Mature-looking Mini discussion

Apr 20, 2006

1. Naraes are very dainty and have several faceplates to choose from which makes them versatile. The wait is currently a little long for them but you also have the choice of getting one in tan/normal and also in french or korea resin. I thought it might be a good choice if you like Heeah who has a similar look.

Also, Unoas are now being sold by the Noppin company who has a Unoa annex. The girls are still being sold by lottery (unless you wanted the chibis) but there's going to be a lottery here soon. You could probably either snag one there or through a deputy service. Usually they're cheaper new than on the second hand MP.

2. Hi all,

I'm thinking about swapping out the DoC bodies on the twins for something more mature and am having one heck of a time pinning something down.

I'm looking for a boy and girl body that's basically a mini version of an adult body. I'd rather that the boy body not be too muscular, mor on the slim side and that the girl not have stereotypical anime breasts.

I'm looking at Doll Leaves and Soul Doll bodies, but they each have slight problems that I'd have to fix somehow. The Doll Leaves girl body is taller than the boy and I'd like them to be the same height or have the boy be a bit taller. The Soul Doll bodies necks are too thick to fit the DoC heads on, so there would be a lot of sanding involved or I'd have to send them out for modding.

Does anyone out there know of any other mature looking mini bodies out there?

Thanks in advance for the information! :)

3. I've been also searching for MSD boys that don't look too childlike - so far I'm very satisfied with my Iplehouse JID (and the Kyle sculpt is even more mature-looking than my Ryan).
He looks awesome with my Little Elva Airi.
I've been also considering IslandDoll and MiniFee but in both cases their faces look too 'anime' for my taste. Soulkids have interesting faces but the new body looks a bit feminine to me...

4. Hi, guys~

I've been in the hobby for awhile now. I have some SD'a and some tinies, but I'm unfamiliar with MSD's.

I would like to buy a male and female couple, but I don't even know where to start looking. I'm interested in dolls that have realistic faces and are mature adults. I've noticed that most (or all?) the MSD males have boy like bodies and I'd prefer that they have masculine mature bodies. The same with the female doll. I'd like a grown up body that's womanly. I'd also like them look they're at least in their early 20's.

Can anyone direct me to a company that sells such dolls? Are there any?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
5. have you looked at iplehouse? they have the most realistic sculpts i know of and with the right faceups the sculpts can look quite mature check out ban sidhe flickr to see some of the guys with more mature faceups

6. Fairyland ChicLine? Their boy has a muscular body to choose from. Check out the discussion thread here for info and photo:
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?543308-Fairyland-ChicLine-40cm-Discussion-Part-3

But you have to be fast. The re-open sale will end on October 22(Korean Time) and we don't know when will they be available again.

7. Bumping up this old thread in hopes of finding more mature msd boy dolls :daisy

8. Not sure if Withdoll has been mentioned before? They have both mature and less-mature looking face sculpts and very mature bodies.

Their more mature girls include: Rachel, Cynthia, Angela and Luna
And boys: Nei, Mai, Aiden, Kyle and maybe Taren too though he's much more boyish.

Minifees look like total babies next to the Withdoll aesthetic, so I'd definitely consider them very mature. :P

9. Oooh subscribing to this thread! I'm looking for a girl! Sort of an in-between the stylized and the realistic....if they exist at all.

10. I was looking for an MSD head and it REALLY annoys me that most MSD size heads/dolls look childlike. (Not that it's a bad thing, I just prefer smaller dolls that still look older) I mean, it was REALLY DIFFICULT to find a mature looking doll head on Alice's Collection. I literally searched every doll brand on there. (I'm not even really sure what it is I'm looking for, I just know that I'll have an extra doll body lying around sometime since I'm buying a Soul Doll and I only want the head.)
I'm about to go check out Mint On Card and maybe Denver Doll now, before it gets too late.
Can you guys maybe suggest brands you know of that sell really manly looking boy MSD size dolls/heads? I would REALLY appreciate it!
In the meantime, I'll do my best to find some on my own.
:|

11. Fairyland Chicline and DollShe craft 28M and 26F Fashion Pose lines are essentially realistic, mature, scaled down 1/3 dolls. You might want to try them :)

12. ...There's also Withdoll. Silk of Freakstyle BJD will soon cease production of her regular release dolls, but she has a thicker-built female MSD. And then there's Lumedoll as well. I know there are others, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

13. Thanks for your suggestions! I'll try to research them a bit, although right now I don't have time.
It didn't take me very long to get through Mint On Card, and now I'm working my way through Denver Doll.

14. On Etsy i found some pretty good heads!
I don't remember the shop right now.. but when i do i'll give you a heads up!

15. (Oh , hey, that actually didn't take that long.I just finished looking through Denver Doll. I think I found like 2 dolls out of the hundreds I just looked at that I like.)
I checked out the Fairyland Chicline dolls. They're really awesome and I really like them, but there are several reasons why I wouldn't get one. Firstly because they only come as full sets (Not to mention they're sold out!), and I only need the head. PLUS they are very expensive! Around $300 more than the MSD size doll I just bought! But WOW are they beautiful! I would totally kill to have one.

16. Great! Thanks! I'll be looking forward to it!

I just looked at Withdoll and OMG They are PERFECT... I wonder if I could ever acquire just a head. Regardless... I'll have to put them on my wishlist.

17. Actually, the Chiclines are sometimes available through the a la carte service, I think. (Might be wrong there, though ...) If you only need the head, you can always try posting a Split, once you have Marketplace access. Also, you might find just a head on the Market place, once you have access. However, if you want to use a Chicline head with a different body, you'd probably have to mod it since they have a quite specific neckhole (to fit with the neck connector of the Chicline body ...)

18. Chiclines are available ALC periodically as long as a certain amount of orders can be reached per sculpt (so fairyland can justify making molds to sell from). Withdoll doesn't sell heads alone but in either of these two companies' cases as well as any other you can just host a split for the body. I know a lot of people are often interested in just that.

19. Soenatte : Withdoll DOES sells heads alone :)

20. Darak Brad has quite a manly sculpt IMHO and the body isn't bad looking either.

21. Luts has their model delf line. They have 45cm tall versions of some of their larger dolls, plus other sculpts made for the line.

22. I know it's been awhile since anyone posted on this thread, but I am now looking for a mature msd boy for one of my future girls. I know, getting ahead of myself here but it took me forever to decide which girl to get to begin with, so I might as well start looking for her guy. A lot of the ones mentioned already in the thread that I could still find were not quite as mature as I was looking for. I love the look of the dollshe msd males but I just won't be able to spend that much. Anyone have any new leads?

23. Hi, I've never been on this thread before but just happened upon it. A new BJD company (new as of August 2015) will be releasing mature MSD male dolls sometime this summer. The company is Raccoon Doll. I hope that helps. :)

24. I am also waiting for Racoondolls to put grown up males. The will ruin me, when they do :D And I said "no more dolls this year!" Well... :P Man thinks, God changes. :D

25. Oh thank you for letting me know! I guess I nerd to start saving up!

26. So has Raccoon doll actually posted an announcement and some preview photos?

27. Hi, sorry for the delay getting back to you. I haven't been on for a few days. Raccoondoll hasn't posted any pictures of any male dolls yet but has confirmed his plans to myself and several others through Q&A on his website. He has produced 7 female dolls... My avatar being one of them. To give an idea of his style he made the sculpt for Iplehouse EID man Rex during his years there with that company. I hope that helps and I will let you know when official pics are posted :)

28. I am a primarily mature mini collector and I'm considering what my next doll will be.

I have a DC Bella, a DZ Gill, and a MyDolling HeeAh. They all tend towards realistic more than stylised I think, and I'm only interested in girls. What might you guys recommend? I was thinking maybe a darak-i girl, also maybe Doll In Mind, Narae maybe... I like minifee bodies but their heads don't really appeal.

29. Hi, I don't have much experience in many of the BJD companies or styles so I'm not sure how much help I can be...lol. I personally like the Raccoon Doll girls. The proportions are quite realistic. I own a few of those so I can speak with first hand knowledge there. I have seen some very nice pictures of Narae and also Bimong Meronica that look rather realistic. :)

30. Hi I'm so sorry... I don't know how I missed your post. I too had a "no more dolls this year" pact with myself but if the Raccoondoll males are anything like I'm expecting that promise to myself is out the window.

31. Lumedoll has also mature-looking female MSDs. They are quite realistic. ;) They suffer from bad promo photos, though :/ I've seen few of those in person and I was like "oh wow, they are beautiful!" But their company face-ups are not my cup of tea.

32. That's great to know...especially about the promo photo not doing the dolls justice. Thank you :)

33. I own an Angel of Dream boy, so I'm a little biased, but you may want to give them a looksie. They can look childish or adultlike, depending on the faceup and the clothes they're wearing.

34. I'm a slim, (more or less )mature looking Mini collector. My definition of mature looking is a more or less mature Body with right Proportions, Small Head( not more than 6/7) and small eyes. Details in Hand and Feet are Important too. What does it help, if you have a mature Body and chubby undefined Babyfingers.
So here's my summary:
Lumedoll, aGatti, Supia, Limhwa, Narae/Narin, Unoa, look especially at the 2.0 and the older Brother and Sisters, Souldoll Minis and Vito Size, Soom Idalean 51 and the Soom Rosette Pure,
Dollshe Craft and Fashion Minis ( there is a sale right now, so you can get one for around 400$, Arsene for 330$ )
Withdoll, Minifee Karsh and maybe 2 or 3 other Heads and the Chic line.
Iplehouse, but there Heads are rather big. But i can tell you that these Heads work great with Souldoll NL and Vito Body.
the old N-Doll Miru and Miso - Misu?
Fashion Line and Zaoll from Dollmore
Luts Model... i don't know. The bodies are ok but the Faces... looks still to childlike for this Body,
Angel of Dream.. is not so my taste, but why not.
Racoondolls - never heared of them... need to look them up.
Do we have all?

35. Jumping in here but I just got an Anna Dobryakova doll..actually two ...and her dolls would definitely fall into the mature mini category. Maybe more fashion doll-size. I'm not sure if she will be making mature guys but she does have several girls. Her link: http://www.tendercreation.com Here is a pic posted with Anna's permission:[IMG]

36. I had the EXACT same question - so thanks for all the suggestions

37. My vote goes for AquariusDoll. Their 43cm line is pretty realistic, at least in my opinion. :daisy

38. @PeppermintPocky You're right. They definitly mature Minis. I made myself a memo, they fit my collection:love
but i still need a Body for my Unoa Boy...this has priority.

39. Aquarius Doll for sure, but if they just made males to go with their girls!

40. Hi everyone. I'm hoping to purchase my first msd size bjd soon as it's the size I feel most happy with. However, most companies only offer very baby faced doll heads for these smaller bodies. My question is, are there any more adult looking msd size dolls out there at all?
Thank you to everyone who replies. I appreciate your help & kindness.

41. A lot of the slim MSD dolls tend to have a more mature look.

You might want to start by looking at Souldoll Soulkids, Luts Model Delfs, Withdoll, and Fairyland Minifees. These companies tend to have the mature slim MSD body and a range of heads to choose from, from childlike to very mature and womanly.

I'm sure others can add to the list as well.

I know that Sadol also has a beautiful and mature MSD body, but I am not sure if the heads are what you'd prefer.

42. You should check out Racoon Doll and Iplehouse, they have realistic and mature msd sculpts.

43. @Musume has some really wonderful lists for people who want less childish minis. HERE is their list of Mature Minis who have smaller heads than normal msds but are not super realistic and HERE is their list of Realistic Minis.

I myself have some Luts Model Delfs and some Withdolls and I absolutely adore them <3 <3 <3

44. I've been collecting 1/4 size BJDs for a few year now and my
intent is to have them be Late teen through young adult.
Women are easy! :) One of my favorites is Angel of Dream "Lan"
but as has been noted, some of the Iplehouse JIDs are satisfactory.

There are several "BJD"s that are best classified as Fashion Dolls
rather than classic BJDs in that they have much smaller heads than
classic ABJDs. My boys take 7/8 or 6/7 wigs. The fashion dolls such
as Iplehouse FIDs (Fashion Iplehouse Dolls) take 5/6. They are
arguably more realistic than the typical BJD so it's a matter of taste.
If you want maturity and the smaller head doesn't bother you then
you might want to look at the resin fashBut such as Jamieshow.men.

But I digress. Mature 1/4 size men. There are a few options. Some
of the Iplehouse JID boys make reasonable men, especially if you
have a custom face up with a bit of facial hair. Makes an unelievable
difference and that comment holds for all of these dolls. Look at
Luts Model Doll. Wonderful masculine bodies and though the sculpts
seem a bit boyish they work. Souldoll offers a couple of choices.
A few of the Soulkid sculpts have some maturity but do look beyond
the atrociously feminine attire that Souldoll poses them in. I have
a Soulkid boy Jonny that makes a great young man. Souldoll also
makes the Vito boy line. Very mature but at 50cm he'll sort of tower
over a minifee girl. Finally I'll mention Angel of Dream again. Their
bodies are nice and affordable. Some of their sculpts are worth
considering (Wang Zi?)

45. These ideas really help, all my dolls are msd size. Not comfortable with larger size.

46. I haven't seen truer words! Randor and Shaun would look so good if they weren't dressed in drag

47. They all are made by different companies but we do have threads for all three

48. That's a great idea! It would be great to have a list of all the dolls in this size range, as there are more all the time - many companies have started "shrinking down" their SD dolls to this MSD fashion size.
So far, here is my (probably incomplete) list of dolls in this scale - perhaps you could edit the first post to have a list up the top? I've only included dolls with a mature body and the smaller heads.

Iplehouse FID
Sartoriaj
Raccoondoll
Ringdoll (they only have three sculpts right now: Raymond 2.0, Zhou Yu and Anubis has just been released)
Telesthesia and Dragon (they have 6 different scaled down SD bodies)
Dikadoll (they also have several scaled down bodies at about 51cm)
For both Dikadoll and Telesthesia and Dragon, you can order the bodies from Alice's Collections or Legendoll, but you have to write and request the head when you order the body - a bit complicated, hopefully they make it so you can just order the doll properly in future! (Also you can order the heads separately).
Granado (I think? They have more and more dolls in that scale but I haven't seen any comparison pics)
Huajing have released a scaled down "uncle" body. Not sure what heads would work with it though.
Island Doll Hua Island Long Qingzi is 48cm and looks like he'd be in scale.
Dollzone have released a 51cm Special Boy Body (B45-021) but no in scale heads as far as I can see.
Dream Valley also have some bodies in that 51cm scale but no in scale heads either.

I should also mention in scale children: so far only Raccoondoll have released any, with the Girl line (33cm) and the Mini line (21cm) Sartoriaj have also done some "Teen" dolls but they are almost the same size as the adults, with slightly younger looking face sculpts.

And so this isn't just a giant wall of text - here is a comparison of an Iplehouse boy on the model body (left), a Ringdoll Zhou Yu (center) and a Sartoriaj on the 51Ath body. (right).

The Zhou Yu has quite a small head but someone who owns one told me the Raymond head is a bit bigger, so a similar size to the FID. No idea what any future releases will be like.

If anyone else has comparison pics, it would be great to see them all posted together in this thread, I think!

• x 6
49. Wow! Such a great comparison. This is so helpful. And I did not know, there are so many fashion MSDs out there. I think Luts Doll has one too, they have the MDF51. :love

50. Ooh, let me add the Fairyland Chicline dolls and the IoS UNITOT line to the list! I have both, but sadly they don't work well together - the UNITOT has a much bigger head, albeit not as large as a Minifee's.

I miss the Chiclines so much.

• x 1
51. What I would love to know is are there female adult MSD's where I can just buy the head? I swear, if Iplehouse or SartoriaJ would let me buy the heads alone, I would give them so much money.

52. Oh yes, I forgot about the Model Delfs!!! A few of the original Model Delfs have the smaller heads too - Lazuli is one, they say on each listing the head size - not sure about the others, but I've seen a picture of her that looked in scale, she was just a bit shorter than the FID. But the Model Delf 51 look much more in scale.

Hmm, I used to have Chicline and they were a lot smaller than the FID (etc), I don't think they'd really be in the same scale - although there is some smaller Fashion scale dolls that might work I guess, like the Granado 29/30 range? Maybe? They do have those proportions though, that's for sure!

Oh I wish they would sell the heads separately too!!! But good news - Raccoondoll do sell them! Only a very limited range unfortunately - just Sleepy Eyed Laetitia, Dreaming Gene, Smiling Gene, and Dreaming Lucy.

Which is why I own a ridiculous amount of Laetitia hybrids - every time a new doll didn't quite work for me but I wanted to keep that body type for sewing purposes (or just because I liked it), I'd buy yet another Sleepy Laetitia head to put on them - it's my favorite sculpt anyway! So lets see, I have one on a JID Glamour body, an FID curvy body, a SartoriaJ Aph body - and two on just the regular Raccoondoll bodies!

Dollmore FMD heads are sometimes sort of in scale for younger, teen dolls - only sometimes as the heads are vastly different sizes! The Thelma heads are size 4-5 and fit okay on slim Mini bodies like Resinsoul. (The other heads are mostly smaller). I've got two Thelmas out getting face-ups at the moment, I plan to make them teen dolls next to my adult FID (etc) dolls.

53. Unfortunately I don't think there is. As mentioned by @morganatron Raccoon Dolls have limited heads for sale. But it would be great if they sell heads separately; as there are many companies now that sell bodies only for fashion MSDs like impldoll and raccoon doll.

55. I am having difficulties in attaching photos, they end up broken. :...(

56. @morganatron: The Granado 29/30 boys are technically mature tinies, not mature MSDs - there's a whole thread for them over in the Tinies forum and everything! The Chiclines are the same height as the Minifees, just with proportionately-sized heads instead of the big ones.:)

57. Telesthesia and dragon has one, 7.3cm neck circumference.
