I can't believe Chicline got a new thread Yaaay! So I had to go out and do a few shots of my dolls, this time Ineffa with Rou. Rou needs some real clothes, but what he is wearing are old Ken clothes that my grandmother made for me, so I'm partial to seeing them on him, LOL. Reminds me of her

IngieBee, those clothes on your Rou are very well made! I wish someone in my family knew how to sew, it wouldn't be a struggle for me otherwise.
Those clothes must be treasures to you, not only because they are wonderfully made, but also because of how meaningful they must be to you now. (:

I can sew, but all these years later, my Ryu still has no ‘real’ outfit. I’ve tried so many times, lol. I’m getting the nerve up to try again. Love my guy, but he’s destined to be naked I guess, sigh.

I can sew as well, I just don't know what I am doing half the time. Regardless, it hasn't stopped me from sewing all my dolls' clothes (though I procrastinate).

IngieBee, aww! Thank you so much for your incredibly kind comments! I mentioned in the contest thread that I was inspired by Caravaggio's lighting techniques in his paintings,
but I certainly am a huge fan of the three great masters of Renaissance, I think they were the most influential when I first vegan painting more than thirty years ago. ^_^
I agree about Rou always in the nude not being a bad thing. I love the CL male body so much, I wish FL had made their 65cm version the same exact proportions.
Though I have such weird taste, I am probably in the minority in being disappointed that their 65cm body didn't have the same exact proportions as the CL male.

 

CP makes the loveliest bodies with the shapeliest legs in the doll world.
Alyx takes a few minutes to relax in the fitting room while trying on costumes for the coming season.

 

Well, when you speak of lighting techniques and drop names, I know saying "pretty" or "cool" won't fit, LOL, But my lack of edumacation allowed me to go no farther @Enzyme, LOL. Cool!

@petiteballerine , I have no idea what it's like to set up a new ballet, but that looks pretty much on the nose, with costumes strewn everywhere! It reminds me of when I was looking for my wedding dress, LOL. And back stage always seems dark to me as well!. She seems bored. But you created a beautiful "moment in time" there

 

IngieBee, lol! No problem, cool is always cool I think, even when talking about classical references one might not know (I am a huge art-nerd, so don't worry). The funny thing is that I typed "vegan" instead of "began," like I let my auto-spellchecker do all the work for me lately, and don't even proof-read anything anymore. How sad to rely solely in technology like that. Lol!


Pettiteballarine, that is a very nice set up, I love all the sparkles and tulle. There was a brief time of my life when I wanted to be a ballerina, but it was a very short lived dream with no fond memories to speak of. ^ ^;;

I was looking in my EL's box and he never came with a COA, did any of the ChicLine dolls come with a COA?

 

I don't think so, that started, I believe, after all the recasting stuff got out of hand. Thankfully I dropped off DoA during that whole debate because when I came back, and saw how ugly the fight got, I was really dismayed! I'm glad not to have been here during those fights! Ugh, ugly! But yah, I don't think any of my minifees or chics have CoAs but I'd have to dig up their boxes to know for certain...?

 

I got one with my Chloe, but I ordered her during that very last period that they were available. My others don't.

 

I think I read on another thread that Fairyland only recently started sending certificates.

 

I think 90% of my collection doesn't have a COA. A few of my dolls do, but they were all purchased in the last 2 or 3 years (or alternatively have a Luts limited edition certificate). I can't say for certainty that any of my Chiclines have a COA.

And I have one of the old gold plates.

 

I didn't get a CoA with my Rou only a restringing manual, I received him in September 2010. I am not sure how long the Chicline dolls had been out by that time, but I am guessing only the very last Chicline dolls got one.

 

Ah okay I just wanted to make sure, sad that they may never release these lovely doll again. I sure would like some different clothes for my EL to wear.

 

My first dolls (Elf Lishe and Elf El in 2004) were from Cerberus Project, and none of my rather large collection of CPs have certificates. I do have a digital copy of my purchase receipts from the later years, but I've only sold a few of the dolls over all that time.
Nowadays, you really have to judge who the seller is, look at detailed photos of hands, etc. A recaster might make a similar doll, but who can replicate that complicated engineering without spending lots of money?
I'd love more chic boy clothes, but the girls haven't made a dent in the Tonner closet. so much stuff!

 

Yes I hear you, I was looking at my EL's box and it is so fancy like, the instruction booklet was very interesting to read. I just hope to find some more clothes for him to wear.

I got the Ineffa sculpt with the small bust

 

Oh, I love Ineffa. Her original picture reminded me of Stevie Nicks I have her, Soo and Lishe, but Ineffa and Soo share a body I don't like to have to share bodies, but .... that's how it is :P

 

@IngieBee Do you have pictures of your beauties? Oh that they have to share a body is a shame. Hopefully, someday you will be able to find a secondhand body for either Ineffa or Soo.

 

I took some icky pics. Just got her a new wig though, so maybe tomorrow I can??

 

Sorry I haven't been participating much. I was offline for quite a while. But I had the best of luck and was able to snag my first ever chicline! She's a Lishe. Her name is Lulu. She's a main character in a story I've been mulling over for about 20 years. I'm hoping she'll give me the motivation I need to actually write it down. Anyway, I fell completely in love with her. She's so incredibly precious. I can't wait to get her a new face, though her default face up is still quite lovely. I'm just so excited to have her!

I’ve decided to try and create a character for my Rou, again. I ordered a custom Hakama for him and will be making a custom yarn wig. Years on and he has been stubborn and rejected everything I’ve tried. I have a good feeling this time everything will come together. These dolls! Love him to bits, but being naked isn’t all there is, ha.

 

@kurogane You say again, does that mean you tried and failed before?

 

@Subzerolover yes, many times. I’ve had my guy for four years and I still haven’t gotten him a decent outfit. It’s not him, it’s me. I have difficulties dressing my dolls. I should stick to fullsets.

@petiteballerine What size board is that, it looks perfect! Glad I saw this thread pop up, I got my girl a new wig, and need to try it out! I almost forgot!

 

Hi @IngieBee - it's 4 inches long. I bought a set of three from a doll friend a few years ago. Don't know where she got them.
has a tiny screwdriver and optional flame painted wheels so tiny skateboarder can change them out.
two other sizes fit 51-ish dolls and the big guys 68-70cm.
I don't see a name on the boards. they look just like the real deal.

@petiteballerine, I sold you the skateboards! I still have a few but I have to find them! I'm trying to remember where I found them. I'll see if I have a record of them. It was a few years ago and even Walgreens sometimes had them in the toy department. They are called finger boards.

 

Hi, Nancy. glad you saw my post. the big one is more like a hand board. larger than my foot.
the biggest one has "Tech Deck" on the top. a search of that brings up lots of 'finger boards.' wow, people are really into that.

Well at least if little boys are playing with finger boards, they shouldn't break many bones! They make ramps also so you ca design a mini skate board park.

Tech Deck was the major manufacturer.

 

@petiteballerine and @nancy_schroeder_ca I thought they could be finger boards, but they seem to be slightly bigger than the ones that were everywhere not long ago! Looks fantastic though! Oh yah, Tech Deck also makes a hand board that's great for larger SD dolls

 

In just a couple days I will be joining you all in the chic line owners club!! I just bought an El, and I'm hovering here in this discussion to try not to go mad waiting for him to ship! Your dolls are all so beautiful!

Congratulations, @TrashKing! My first ChicLine boy ended up wearing a bunch of clothes made for Unoa girls - which worked out pretty well, actually, and he's still wearing the jacket.

 

I finally have a sleeping face for Alex! Yay! Now he will be so much more versatile in photos.

@TrashKing Thank you! I commissioned it from SophyMolly on Etsy. It is one of my favorite wigs.

 

My boy finally arrived!! He's an El in NS. The previous owner was kind enough to include some extras so he isn't totally blank! I borrowed a friend's minifee clothes she has for her boy until I can get some just for him. His name is Ignatius. Eventually he'll have red eyes and silver hair, and a different face up, but for now, this is him! I'm absolutely in love.
