Luts Kid Delf Discussion part 17

Jan 9, 2022

    1. I had tried to ask them about 2. too (if they will give a last chance to buy those sculpts after the event) and got this gem:
      "Hi customer,
We are responding to your inquiry.
Sorry I can't guide you on the discontinued list.
Please confirm that the event period is until June 16th and place an order.
The limited skin for this event has been released, so I recommend you to buy the limited skin! "

So yeah, they don't want to give information about how they will handle it it seems. Plus I am mad at that " why don't you just buy limited skin instead of worrying about your favorite sculpts"-answer :sigh

    2. Oh Luts. If only you weren't my favourite doll company. Totally threw my doll plans out the window with the threat of discontinuation. Kid Delfs might be their most popular line though. I have 15 of them and 4 more on layaway and everyone here seems to also buy them up like potato chips haha.

    4. It's been quite a long time since I have posted, but I received my Kid Delf BORY Half LB Ver. Bloody Mary Limited back in September of last year. I have decided to share him, for it doesn't seem like many ordered him... it's a shame, because he is so beautiful!

You can see a few more photos on his doll profile (by clicking his photo)~

    5. And if you'd like a close up of his beautiful face, here is a box opening photo. :blush

    6. He certainly is beautiful!:D I love this half-face concept and strongly considered getting one when they were first released but alas, I couldn’t come up with a viable character for one of these…and that’s my prerequisite for ordering. (Darned self-imposed collection rules anyway!):doh Congratulations on yours though…I truly envy you because he’s utterly adorable.

      • x 1
    7. Yes, he is pretty. The biggest reason that I did not consider buying one is because Bory isn't my cup of tea. (It's really hard to look at certain sculpts that many people love and wonder why you don't feel that way about it. I envy to be a part of it.) But, I think this sculpt looks better than the promo photos. Congrats on getting Bory; he looks beautiful.

    8. I am incredibly excited for aru elf version. I think I'm gonna get her in pink! Abadon looks so cool too.

    9. i like rabong! shes so cute and sweet looking

By the way, anyone who has Woori, can she fit 18mm eyes? I currently have 16mm and it’s definitely too small but I’m scared I drop a lot of money on 18mm eyes and they won’t fit. Don’t know what to do. I wish 17mm eyes was a choice :XD:

    10. Thank you! I was hesitant as well. It took me a little while to figure out what I could do with him... Thus, it wasn't until the last six, I finally caved in; for, feelings of regret would have killed me...

Thank you. Truthfully, I felt Bory was overrated--thus, he wasn't my first doll. It wasn't until LUTS released a Romance version, I hopped the train and... just somehow became intrigued by his mold~ Nonetheless, this one was extremely unique, I just couldn't pass him up!

    11. If possible, could someone share photos of his/her Kid45 Delf & Muse TOMATO or Kid Delf Muse SHALLOT? They are both next on my list~ thanks!

    12. Hello! Does anyone have any comparisons of the gray and gray mint colors??? im thinking about shelling one of my drow characters and wasnt sure which one to choose.....

    13. so how do we feel about the new vampire sculpts?

    14. I have a weakness for those, so it's bad for my wallet :sweat
I think I will get at least one of them

    15. I want one so badly!!

    16. I want to get Vampire Kai but at the moment with the shipping cost going up and the tariffs, it's seems even getting just one head isn't feasible...:...( maybe they will make a comeback one day :(

      • x 2
    17. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bunch of people who would like to order the new vampire heads and are in this same position. Doing a group order would lessen the blow significantly with the cost of shipping and the new tariffs if it's split between even just a few people.

Hopefully it's okay if I suggested that, even though it's MP related. I don't have plans to order any heads, much as I like some of them.

      • x 2
    18. Ughhh I can't even consider more dolls. I got 14 heads to work on, and 8 naked girls to clothe. But now I want a bory ugh. Stop releasing dolls luts please and thank you haha

      • x 2
    19. If there was an Aru I probably would have got a head :sweat but not interested in any of them. Ani is very very cute with vampire teeth though!

      • x 2
    20. I love Ani and want her so much but the doll budget is negative. hope they bring her back one day

    21. My Bory obsession is real, yall... :chomp: I caved in and got the vamp version in White after wanting a WS Bory for years :abow:
If they release an elf version with upturned pointy ears like these some time in the future as well, I might just get another one... :evilplot:

      • x 3
    22. I'm excited for you getting a Bory vampire! I already have a Bory and am not the sort to get more than one of the same sculpt, otherwise I'd badly want one lol.

      • x 2
    23. @Snow White Thank you for sharing your Bloody Mary Bory Boy! I'd had to turn him down when he was released... (only to get an SD Bory head later) but I think I'll be regretting that decision for a while. I love fantasy resin.
@Niel You'll have to share pics if you get him faced up! I felt the same about the Sweety Romance Bory head last summer (or spring?) and I ended up getting him, but the vampire is even better for the character I'd envisioned.

    26. They’ve released the list of dolls they’re discontinuing, and it’s pretty extensive. There’s a link within the announcement to view them all

      lutsdoll co.,ltd.

Looks like the sale on them starts 10/27 & ends 11/21.

      • x 1
    27. I'm honestly surprised there are few of the newer sculpts among the discontinued ones too, I was pretty sure it would be older, no longer popular, sculpts only but I guess these are sculpts that never managed to get popular in the first place. :horror:

On a quick glance nothing I'd absolutely need but it's still sad to see all these dolls get discontinued.

      • x 3
    28. It seems luts only wants to make big male dolls from now on. I feel that is the main drive of the hobby now. The hobby itself is on the way out I feel. The dolls are overpriced now with how technology has changed and so new companies are offering cheaper dolls that are just as nice. More competition and a smaller fanbase spread out over it all.

      • x 1
    29. So sad to see how many Kid Delfs are getting discontinued :( Even though there’s a lot I have never personally wanted, I’ve loved seeing others get them.

There are a bunch of larger dolls that I’ve really liked for a while but I figured they would be on the chopping block, it’s not as much of a surprise. Kid Delfs still seemed to be popular? I dunno.

Glad I got Lemon recently, she’s the main one I would have been absolutely crushed to have missed out on.

    30. sad to see how many are leaving! i had a feeling mocha would be on there.
mocha and aronia are 2 sculpt i always wanted but never ordered, but i dont feel like i absoultely need them anymore

    31. Nooooooo, not brownie! There's just too many. I am surprised, as well, how many recent sculpts are getting discontinued.

    32. I am sad to see Ttori go, but I am happy Ani will be sticking around.

      • x 2
    33. How are y'all able to tell who is staying and going? I've been trying to figure out which sculpts I can't pass on.

    34. lutsdoll co.,ltd.

Here's the link to the archive!

I'm kinda sad about Kid Delf Annamarie going. I used to want to make my Rika and an Annamarie twins, but I started to prefer larger dolls. Although part of me wants to maybe get her before she's gone.

    35. Yikes that is a lot of classic KDFs. Time to get on that Coco bandwagon. Is anyone considering buying just heads to hybrid? I've always liked Apple and Peach, might get them as heads to hybrid.

      • x 1
    36. I feel like recently they started focusing on getting the same few sculpts out in every size, with very little innovation or interesting new faces. I like some of their newest molds, but most were a bit meh. And when it comes to bodies, compared to some other companies that offer new, more detailed designs more often...:sigh
The hobby is nothing like it used to be. And Luts, I feel like, used to really focus on their Kid Delfs, but shifted towards 70-75+ size due to Switch's popularity, at least in Korea. It's such a pity. Imo, they have their own charm. But it's probably not that profitable anymore to support so many unpopular sculpts. Maybe we'll see some of them return in limited runs tho?
They have also started supporting many independent sculptors (which is great!), helping them get their works out in Luts skin colours, so maybe they want to try and go that route instead?

      • x 2
    37. I wouldn't say so much Switch's popularity as Idealian's. And Voices. Some of the new big boys Luts makes straight up look like Idealians. Just being blunt with my own opinion here, Luts has definitely lost their creative edge and what makes them unique (and their new bodies look like ten steps backwards, it's very strange, especially the lanky kid45 and muse). They aren't willing to take risks or do their own thing much anymore. This amount of molds is probably difficult for them to keep and I understand that, but retiring these sculpts is a huge loss. I miss the days where Luts made the most amazing fantasy Kid Delfs. There's been a shift in the market and in people's tastes and that's only natural, but this discontinuation is a huge loss regardless. I'm also hoping they rotate re-releases someday in the future, but they don't typically do that so I'm not holding my breath. Just going to try and afford a KDF or something and cherish them

      • x 7
    38. Luts is who I mainly collect from. I have a few fairyland, dim, and volks too. Dim is gone and fairyland's quality is bad. So I guess it's volks for me from now on. It's sad, I'm watching the hobby die.

    39. There's a few I had on my "maybe" list (muhwa, basil, yeondu, a few others) but I think I'm safe this time around. Scrolling through a few more times to make sure though....

    40. Jamong was one of the first KDFs that caught my eye... (and @stelladolls has a really cute one!) It's sad to see her go, along with Pudding/Choco, Muhwa and some strikingly unique ones such as Pepino/Papaya/Aronia :(

      • x 2
    41. The hobby isn't dying. It's bigger than ever and getting bigger every day and in some cases oversaturated (mostly in part thanks to 3D technology being easily available. I'm not bashing, it's just a neutral fact of the changing mediums over time). The way the hobby used to be is definitely changing and in some cases ending, but the hobby as a whole is not dying. It is bigger than it's ever been. I mourn the way it used to be as well, but it's going strong. Just changing. A lot.

I wish that Luts would have did like 1 or 2 size groupings at a time so I could space out some purchases rather than having to choose from all of these categories at once. Not that it would make it less easier or less painful to see them go :( Litchi, Basil, Yuz, Kiwi... this is so sad. I've been in such a low mood since the announcement because of it. Really hoping I can pull together some funds for someone.

    42. the amount of dolls on the discontinued list that I own is so funny to me. it seems like i have bad taste :XD::XD: hahaha

    43. Is Luts even going to let us buy just the heads of the dolls they're discontinuing? I haven't bought a doll in years, and part of that is due to companies not offering just the heads, or being shipped unstrung anymore. :\

      • x 1
    44. No way, I love your dolls! They are all so pretty :D (You are legally obligated to take a photo of them for us now :abambi:)

Good point. I've been eyeing the standard Bory for years now, but would only buy the head separately. Good thing they're offering heads only for all of their dolls because of their 25th anniversary. :cheer
Upd: Nevermind, I think I'm blind and missed it AGAIN, ugh. I just hope I won't have to wait another 25 years for the opportunity.:sigh

    45. Muhwa has been on my "some day" list for years and now i'm pondering if I can justify it or if I should just let it go. I've been trying not to buy dolls this year because I haven't got space left to display them you know? and I have all these heads that need bodies anyway.
      but eugh.

These big discontinuations are so stressful

      • x 2
    46. I'm in the same boat. The Muhwa is such a unique sculpt and was always something I considered getting, but with no space for it atm, I'm really frustrated. Since I don't need a faceup I think I can get by with buying it secondhand eventually, but I want it in the brown skin so I don't know if I should just go for it now or wait and see if I can find it later.

To be honest, I'm surprised it was on the list. I always thought it was pretty popular.

    47. It saddens me that KDF Hodoo, one of the classic KDF sculpts and my first BJD since 2008, is also on the chopping block (open eyed, dreamy-eyed, and HDF version). Although I already have the open-eyed version along with the additional dreaming head, yeah, still a bummer. :(

    48. I feel this way too about Lemon. She was my first brand new doll since 2010 (I’ve had some other second hand dolls though) and I’ve loved her since her release in 2009.

When I got my first Luts doll, KDF Bory, she came with a promo catalog and Lemon is featured in there, among others. Lemon always stood out to me. I’m really happy I managed to get her before her discontinuation, but it’s still so sad to see her go.

Seeing all these old sculpts get discontinued is really hitting me pretty sorely. It was nice to come back to the hobby after a long hiatus and still see so many of their old sculpts around — so nostalgic! But now they’re going away :(

      • x 3
    49. My plan is to get Coco and Woori and if possible get some heads to swap around. This is such a blow to the hobby.

    50. Hopping on here since I'm considering grabbing a Kiwi before she's gone forever and was wonder if anyone here had input on the pretty body (7 and 9) and their poseability. I have the discontinued type 3 classic body on my Nana and the type 2 boy multibody on my Bory and they both have the leg post engineering so I was curious about the active body technology. Other than the wider leg motion is there any difference in how the dolls poses, either positively or negatively?

    51. I have the active version of the pretty body. I don't find it very helpful honestly. The legs are pulled together by stringing so close, you can't stand the doll well. (the strings pull them so close you can not change that the feet touch each other)
If you re-string (change the over cross stringing to straight) you can stand them nicely, but can hardly get them to sit anymore. Because then the strings don't want to go into the slits for sitting. They can sit but it's a fight and fumbling.
I don't know if it can be made better with sueding or such but I was very pissed to have that been called "active body"

Is there any kdf body option that moves okay? I need some information for the discontinuation sale :sweat

      • x 1
    52. The problem with the pretty body is the shape of the hip joint socks. They do not really allow for the legs to be spread regardless of the hip bars. That's why the 'active' version just doesn't work *_*. On the other hand the KDF muse body was specifically designed so it can spread it's legs.

I own almost all of the different KDF bodies amd none of them are amazing posers. Tbh if the KDF 1 girl body had double jointed legs it would be my favorite by far. But unfortunately she doesn't. So I guess KDF muse is my favorite when it comes to posing.

      • x 4
    53. Honestly I feel that, I really kind of dislike the torso piece being cut directly under the breasts, I like the cut at the waist which is why I have the type three body on my Nana, but having single jointed arms and legs was a bummer.

      • x 1
    54. I just ordered a KDF type 1 girl body, as someone who's restrung a lot of dolls, I couldn't see the logic in the other lines jointing. I own a muse body, and it's okay. Honestly most my MSD's pose kind of awkwardly. The good old type 1 + double joints in most companies renditions seem to do the best in my experience.

    55. Luts has just posted on X here that they will be selling discontinued heads separately!!!

      • x 12
    56. It's so tempting but I have 16 floating heads and 3 floating bodies as it is haha

    57. Hi everyone! Hopping on this thread after the recent news, it’s so sad to see so many lovely sculpts going at once. Personally this news has me picking up a Pepper, he was one of those ‘maybe someday’ dolls, and it looks like today’s that day lol. I know times are tough and the news is relatively sudden, but I hope everyone’s able to get their ‘must haves’ from luts :3nodding:

      • x 5
    58. Does it say when it starts and how to order? I'm not on twitx anymore and it won't translate for me.

    59. It already started. Just search the sculpt name to find the head listing and add that to cart and purchase as normal. The discount only applies to full dolls.

      • x 2
    60. You can find the discontinued heads if you go to the Limited Edition Menu, and under the 25th anniversary there's an option for 25th anniversary sale and they're all listed there. The 20% discount doesn't apply to the heads though, only the full doll
