Luts Kid Delf Discussion part 14

I love Darae~ Obviously. But for some reason, it just doesn't come to mind when someone asks for my favorite sculpt, like...I love my Aelic, he's my baby, but I wouldn't get another one, y'know? It's like one of those sculpts that's perfect for your character so you love it, but it otherwise doesn't really fit your aesthetic... DZ Carter and Darae don't necessarily go together. (I kind of make it work though, I guess.)

Another boy Darae? Is your friend on DoA? I'd love to see her boy! I've never seen another boy Darae before.

 

I wouldn't really get doubles of doll heads unless I have a reason for them. Like summer '14 is my favorite and I recently bought a second head ,but its only for faceup practice reasons. It won't be molded into another doll.

And my friend is not on DOA. She rarely does much with her dolls, but I have a photo of him when he first arrived ((I'm her only BJD friend, and he was shipped to my house, so I got to play with him. Lol)

@KiyoshiSenshi Thanks! I think that's what he still looks like. xD my friend doesn't like to change things up. But he's pretty standard... and cute. His name is doctor because he's a young 'david tennant' 'Doctor who'

 

That's so cool and cute! I love Doctor Who, especially the Tennant days. So classic! And his tie is very Doctor-esque.

 

OMG, a brown skinned Darin girl is on my list next and your little girl just makes me want to order her NOW, NOW, NOW. Alas, no money at the moment. She is super adorable, though!

I think Darae's are not only happy dolls, but can also look very thoughtful as well. I like your girl.

Favorite sculpt? Gah, how can you decide between all of them. As someone who is a little (those of you who have seen my Kid Delf army, hush please ^_^) obsessed with Kid Delfs I find it hard to narrow it down. I can tell you which all of mine are my faves but I'm not sure that really says which is my favorite sculpt. I mean, I love them all so much and become obsessed with them at different times. But here is my attempt to narrow it down some:

Lior was my second Kid Delf and from the moment he arrived was the favorite. But then I have had others I think are so gorgeous. Like MoonSong once I finally found the perfect wig and eyes for him. Then recently I just got Wren, who is developing a whole world all his own in my home. And I can't forget about cute little Yuki who is just so shy and adorable. Or Izzy, who arrived and decided I needed to learn all about Fairy Kei because that was all she was ever going to wear. And there is Touya who is so bold and loud and demands so much attention. Gah, and how can I forget about Lee, the first Kid Delf and the one who started the trend? I'll have to add a pic of him later. But honestly, how can anyone choose just one?

And because each sculpt is so versatile I have quite a few multiples. Mostly because, besides Izzy, once a doll has chosen his or her wig and eyes, I tend to not change those at all. So if I think this wig might look good on that sculpt, I ended up buying another of the same because the one I have refuses to wear any but the wigs they have already chosen. It would be so much easier on my pocket if I could just have one of each sculpt and change out their wigs and eyes when I got bored. But no.... they have to be difficult.

@Fate Forgot to say, but your friend's Darae is super cute, too. I love his eye/wig combo.

 

@Fate I'm actually using blue and teal-- I started with a ball of rainbow yarn, brushed it out and have been making wefts, and I'm using mainly the blues and purples with some pops of other colors to make him a galaxy-palette type wig. I'm hoping it turns out, since it'll be my first yarn wig, but I think it'll look good on him if it goes to plan.

 

@Anneko Just make sure you share! I was making a yarn wig too! then realized I can't brush out a long wig for Rapunzel so now I have to buy 60CM fibers from somewhere... I know formydoll has them in stock, I just have to figure out how many I need to buy. (Is 50G enough? I don't know. ;-; i'm thinking of just buying 2 just in case. I actually want the normal fiber color, but I want the heat resistant look x.x; I can never get exactly what I want! Lol!!)

@ShadowMist I understand how hard it is to pick. xD Bory was my first MSD, Though he's not exactly my favorite anymore. :\ It is definitely my summer 14, but my pine is really freaking close. Haha. She's pretty damn adorable.

@ShadowMist What an amazing crew! They're all so beautiful and styled nicely. I really like Lior's ears. And I know what you mean about making it hard to change wigs and eyes on them. It's like you just can't change them anymore.

I wonder if the wing parts only are for a limited period. So far it just says "coming soon".

My guess is that they'll probably be a limited event thing, like the bunny ears at Easter, but I'm really not sure. I wonder if Luts is going to release some new KDFs with them. Or some new fullsets. I hope so! They'll probably have an announcement about them soon.

 

Ugh if they release Maska again I'm so screwed Lol. I don't have the money and will cry if I miss out.

 

The wings look like the ones from the winter Bory fullsets, just a different color, so I doubt they're doing new fullsets with the same wings; could be some other kind of interesting event though ^^



those wings are really neat with how many joints they have, but they're pretty heavy too

Saameeee, I love Maska... I don't really have the money for any new guys right now, but if they head in the same direction as the most recent Yul releases I might be sorely tempted.

Ooh, good point. Maybe they'll just release them to buy seperately? Or release a new body with somewhere to attach the wings like Dollzone does. (Also, unrelated to KDFs but I've seen your Lilon on Tumblr and I just adore him! I had to mention it. )

 

Those wings look really cool. Not sure I can order any of them though... I have a limited IH YID boy to order soon.

 

At the very least that transparent grey is a cool color; I actually won one of the grey Borys during the winter event, so I'll be very tempted to get him a pair if they're selling them separately. It would be cool if they release a body the wings attach directly to, although I'm sort of torn. On the one hand, they'd stay up way better (the strap harness does a good job but the wings still slide around a little) but it'd be harder to dress. The straps show over clothes, obviously, so they don't match everything, but of course then they can go over whatever you want, instead of having to make/find clothes with holes ><

Ah, thank you Actually, they sent a cute little note with him, like "please share pictures of him so those who are interested in our grey skin can see" so I probably ought to have posted one here before. He's a very nice grey. I have FL Ria wings on him right now, but it would be cool to have wings that match my white one, since I ended up with the same sculpt for both.



The default faceup is kind of goofy on grey since it's all warm brown tones, so I'll probably get it redone eventually, but I do really like the lips.

 

Wow, He looks amazing all the same. Yeah I think they're just getting acquainted with the grey so it might take them time to adjust and find the right faceup style for them.

NOw I'm requesting more spam: Does anyone have a romance Kiwi? I have one coming in and I can only find regular Kiwi pictures x.x; (I have a winter '12 head, so .. I know what that one looks like Lol)

 

@Cennie He's very pretty and I think the Ria wings are working for him.

 

I want to like the wings... but for whatever reason, the transparent resin is a big turn off for me with these designs. Now I want to find them in white though!

 

Speaking of wings... they look really lovely but like @Tonboko I wish they had it in white too. Then again, maybe this is better for my/our wallet(s) LOL!

I love Bory's. It was between the Bory and the Hodoo that I had to make my first choice for first MSD. Lee, my Hodoo, won out and while I have never regretted that choice, I love my Borys, too.

Aw, thank you so much. And yes, once they have found their "perfect" wig and eyes, I just can't change them again unless I fall out of love with the doll.

OMG, finally another Summer '15 head!!! I was starting to think I was the only one that kept the head and made a full doll out of him! Your boy is gorgoeus! If anyone else has the Summer '15 head, please, please share them!

OMG She is so adorable! I love her look! And are those freckles? So cute!

I came really, really close to selling my head because I couldn't find something that suited him. Nothing looked right. It wasn't until much unhappy exchange of eyes and wigs that I finally figured out what he wanted and my little merboy was born.

 

Thank you @ShadowMist . I knew I wanted her once I saw her. I was already ordering an Arwen and a Tiny delf kai (Along with a second arwen as a group order with a friend), so I was destined ot have her. And I thought some freckles across the cheeks/nose would be hte perfect look for her. She's on a five stardoll body, so she's a nice, lanky, awkward teen Lol. She's also a favorite of mine -sigh- The poor summer '15 head has no appreciation! It's actually one of my favorite event sculpts after the summer '14.

@brightberry the funy thing was, I was sick when I decided I was keeping the head, and felt like I was making that face. Exhausted eyes, partially open mouth, droopy. xD so I was like 'yep, that's me-- so I must have this head'. :P

 

@Fate that's hilarious! Sounds like the perfect reason to me. I love how you styled her too. Her eyes are quite pretty.

@Fate I'll definitely share pics when the wig is finished... hopefully I can also get his faceup redone soon so that I can show him off with a whole new look! I want to try and bring out his mischievous/playful side a little more... (I wish I knew how to figure out how much hair to get, for working with nylon/saran hair and such... I've got a bunch of random hanks for customizing fashion dolls but I know I wouldn't have nearly enough to make a wig for a YoSD, let alone Vince's melon head, from any of those hanks...)

Lol! She doesn't really break hearts: At least not on purpose. My sister has a winter '14 head she's 'friends' with, but he has a mega crush on her. The photo I shared is actually from a photostory i posted of them a long time ago. xDD It's HERE if you want to read it.

I actually have a help thread up right now for wig making! Lol. I bought two 50G hanks from Formydoll, since I was told one should be enough, BUT to get 2 just in case. Check it out here . We can just bounce questions ourselves now .xD

@Galileo xD Thank you! It was pretty funny swapping Frost and Skyes heads/bodies. Skye does NOT look right on a big beefy body.Lol! I love making photostories but they are time consuming, so I don't do them as often as i should. ;\

@Fate yeah photostories are time consuming all right! I think in the 7 years I've been in the hobby I've done less than 5 photostories and all of them were pretty short ones LOL, nothing elaborate like yours!

@ShadowMist, Yes! I'd never have thought of that, I love how you pinned it up! At first I was wondering where you bought it from if it was an original style from some company!

I was looking at my Summer boy's photo album and like LOL I really need to stop neglecting him and start taking more new photos of him! *bad owner*

 

@Fate oh, that thread sounds like a lifesaver! I'm really enjoying working with yarn right now but I definitely want to try... pretty much every technique and fiber there is, just to see what I enjoy most. (and to wind up with a huge pile of wigs for my dolls, haha-- I'm definitely going to spoil Vince on that front)

I haven't gotten my supplies yet so I haven't asked further questions since I haven't gotten to it. xD I didn't even finish my first yarn wig. :\ I might do one when my model delf arrives. Not sure his wigs are going to work with him. But if I manage, all of my kid delfs will be getting wigs, I swear Lol!

@Galileo Yeah I make some pretty long ones. When I'm done, I sit back and go 'what did I do..'. Then I have to resize them, edit them.. It's really time consuming. XDD But my kid delfs have such a wide back story behind them, I should do it more often.
