I honestly think he might be blushed as well. He doesn’t look like white skin to me tbh. Or they have changed their white? Thinking blushing is mire likely thought. Personally would have prefered a not paper white myself, but I like him as shown, so it should be fine.

Or maybe you could hit up the retailer of your choice od LS directly and ask uf they could make him available in rose too?
Might amount to nothing but if mire pol ask maybe they and tgeir collab partner will reconsider. If not for this obe perhaps for future dolls.

 

Has anyone tried hybrids with the big Loongsouls yet?

I've done some research for bodies that might fit the 2nd head I'm getting and surprisingly found a shorter body (65cm with default head of the company) by Island Dolls that has a 11,5cm neck. The whites are supposed to be close and I like the aesthetics, so I decided to give it a try and ordered one.
Hope it works out, but I won't be able to tell for a while XD

The order of Ye Ying has had some side effects as well. I'm pulling two SDs I intended to sell 'out of retirement' and will style them anew. I only wanted to sell them as I thought I'd let go of most of my SDs in the first place or limit myself just to four particular precious ones, but... Back to collecting it seems XD

And I'll probably need a(nother) display for the tall guys. The space I originally dedicated to SDs is... a little low. And getting full ^^°

I’ve had a really rough couple of months but I’m happy to report that my XuanDi has shipped! I’m super excited to get him, it feels like it’s been both a long and short time (about 7 months so pretty much within the 6-8 months range Christina quoted me ^^)

My Xuandi has shipped as well, and I know several other people have received the same news. I think a few people in Asia have already received their Xuanlongs.

It's actually a lot sooner than I expected; I had him on an 8 month layaway because that's how long Christina said it would probably take, so I had to scramble to make the last payment. TTvTT My wallet may be crying but oh well, I'd rather bring him home ASAP! I seriously was preparing to wait for over a year given what I've previously heard about Loongsoul wait times. Not to mention Xuandi/Xuanlong was super popular. I guess they must have hired a lot of people to help get him out this soon?

 

Question, how much are you guys paying for shipping for the Black Dragons and human versions?

 

@Snowy I got him as the fullset with the faceup, blushing and in the normal skin ^^ I only got his human version so no dragon parts, but I’m really excited to see for those that did so please post pics haha

And I also had to scramble for the last payment but I was so happy I was like there was no way I was going to wait longer! I am really excited to see him in all his glory. I am pleasantly surprised they have gotten him out relatively fast considering how popular he was. I also was expecting a year. Hopefully this doesn’t mean a dip in quality but even as I say this I highly doubt it, lol. LoongSoul’s quality is amazing! Wish they would include some instructions for their detailed outfits though…it’s probably going to be a nightmare for me to set him up

It is my first time ordering from Christina so for those that have, how is shipping by Yanwen? It was the free shipping option she had and since I spent so much already…lol…but how long does it generally take?

 

Yanwen is cheap but takes very long and in my experience, is very unreliable. I've not had something come in not broken when it was shipped by Yanwen. Most Chinese doll companies won't even offer Yanwen as an option, probably because of that. It's definitely more attractive now given other couriers are charging at least double what they were before but... yeah I'd probably still not choose Yanwen.

I get nearly all of my dolls from Christina with Yanwen and ti really depends on the current shipping situation in my case. The last order was out of the country super fast, but then needed a while to be loaded up a flight and then there was a lovely week of nothing and then he was suddenly there without pre-warning.
Only twice had a crack or breakage in the last years and each time I got replacements. (But that's not a Yanwen problem, it's a general shippment problem, cause there are too many packages for the few underpaid people handling them and required to handle them fast - not carefully).

@bickazer Yay! Congrats on the shipping note!!! I always prefer generous estimates and then getting pleasantly surprised when they arrive early, opposite to getting a shorter waiting time estimate and bein gall grabby handed mentally wanting my packige XD

@Snowy This is the Swallow boy. And so happy at least one got the Ginko guy; just couldn't make him work with all the layaways I have open. Yeppp, lots of pics will be incoming, lol.

 

Ooh I got him too, with a long 12-month layaway, since production time is going to be 12 - 14 months anyway… I think from now until I receive my Ginkgo boy, I really need to unfollow LS as I seem to want every doll they release but can’t afford to order all of them (from their Weibo, looks like they will have a new doll released very soon )

I‘d have A LOT of their fullsets separated in two large displays (godly realm for fantasy sculpts and emperor’s palace throne hall for the other beauties). Alas Time, space and money is limited and so Ginkgo boy is likely going to be the knly one in that price and size class ... At leadt I fully hope do.

I did want to get him myself but it’s not even necessarily the wait time for me (even though it’s super long) but I just don’t have space I also was hoping they had a normal/yellow skin option for him rather than the white. But he looks amazing, looks like it will take hours to put on his outfit though i am just guessing all the time with LoongSoul’s outfits lololol

Yes, being limited in space is also an issue I can relate to. Well. I have a year to figure out where to put another display cabinet and to find said cabinet ^^°°° I sure hope I won't sit hours on that outfit XD I made similar ones for other dolls and hopefully with the fullset pics to guide me I'll figure out how to dress this one up - in UNDER an hour. Thank you very much XD But yes, LS outfits are... elaborate *coughs*

I don’t know if it is just me, but it seems the Ginkgo boy is not very popular outside of Asia? I don’t see lots of us here getting him, other than the 2 of us obviously , maybe because of the super long wait time? Also wondering why neither Alice’s Collections nor BJDivas have him listed? Anyway, I know I like him and can’t wait to have him with me in 2022

Hopefully I will be purchase-safe from LS too, at least in the next several months. I am currently having a ZhuZhao on the way to me and also waiting for my Xuandi to be shipped (hopefully soon ) so I hope those 2 new guys will have the power to keep my wandering eyes away from those beauties that LS is going to release in the next 6-12 months

@fate_xo I have had several dolls/doll clothes shipped to me from Christina by Yanwen and all were good. It was not super fast but it was not really slow either. The last package I had was for an Angell Studio SD doll in early January this year and it arrived at my door in Canada in 2 weeks, perfectly safe… But I’ve heard that Yanwen is a hit or miss these days, so maybe I just got lucky? Anyway I hope your Xuandi arrives safe and sound, and fast. Please do share pics once you get him

 

@bluebellaen XD I already got caught in the 'gorgeous dolls' trap by LS with Ginkgo XD The bar is set up high for another.

I think the cultivation thing is not for everyone and the fact that you can ONLY get him as fullset and can't choose between the heads AND only can get him in the one color that's offered is a big turn-off for a lot of people. By now collectors longer into the hobby shouldn't be too surprised by a waiting time like this for a doll like that. Curious to see when they really ship.

I think it might have to do with the game being unknown outside and with the price scales, which is tricky to post on a webpage.

@Snowy what you said totally makes sense… I feels like with the Ginkgo boy, LS’s main target is the fans of the game, rather than the bjd collectors in general. As much as I love him, I do wish he would come in normal yellow skin though…

I am having troubles with space right now LOL. Those guys take up so much space, especially in their fullsets. I still have a 73cm LS doll in fullset that arrived exactly 1 year ago in his box down in the basement since I haven’t found a decent space to display him yet… Need to win a lottery as I need a bigger house for those dolls … and not to mention if you want a nice, spacious setup for all of them, like the one you have in mind for your emperor

 

@nancy_schroeder_ca I could be wrong as I wasn't focusing that much on the big guys back then, but if I remember correctly, the Onmyouji BJD also wasn't listed by any retailer (except jeeryama on ebay).

I also noticed he's not up at their homepage. (which seems to be not quite up to date in general tbh?)

@bluebellaen Yes, i feel so too. As mentioned above, it seems similar with other character dolls, where the origins don't enjoy a larger fanbase outside their country...

Oh my. I... probably will move some stuff around again, do some re-locating. Also always a good excuse to sort out stuff. Only real concern I have always is that I need to make it cat-secure. Love my fluffies, but I don't trust them with my dolls witout me present in the same room XD

I mean. Not that the money would help much, since one would still need to be lucky enough to unearth someone actually selling one of these sets, but... it certainly wouldn't ... hurt... XD

I didn't get a LS doll from Christina (Clover Singing), but another SD doll.
It was securely packaged and nothing was broken.
Due to the size of the package, my doll delivery with Yanwen took about 7 weeks.
Smaller packages can always be obtained faster.

I'm really looking forward to all of your Black Dragons in beast and human form.
Sometimes I would also like to have instructions on how to put on these beautiful outfits.

 

@Snowy Thanks! I am going to think positive! It makes me feel better that most people have had good experiences. I am the type to worry before something happens if it even does. Mind you, it’s not a good habit I’ll try and post pics for everyone once I get him ^^ I’m so bad at taking pictures Thats so cool you can make outfits! I have tried my hands at being crafty since I was young and I seriously suck at it, lol. I don’t think I have an artistic bone in my body

I just love all adaptations of MDZS! JC’s performance is a bit underrated I think, the voice actor was in another show and I had no idea it was him because he sounded so different, lol. Not sure how much I’m allowed to talk about it here but if you ever feel like rambling about it once season 3 of the donghua comes out or whenever my inbox is always open

@dragoneye1300 I think I will get the accessories before the doll because even though it was sent out after it’s tracking is showing it was picked up and stuff already. My box with the actual doll still shows no tracking information at all Well, it’s fine because I am not in too much of a rush to get him, though I do hope he arrives soon Christina said it would take about 15-30 days to the US so I am hoping! At least the shipping situation in China seems to be improving somewhat?

Also this is a general question but how do you all deal with lack of space? I honestly want to display my LS boys and dolls in general rather than box them up but it’s difficult, lol, because I’m into the SD sized sculpts/designs. I have a few detolfs but they really don’t hold many. I keep telling myself “this is the last doll” and that never seems to be the case….so

 

I also more or less only go for SD+ sized dolls (dudes are all over 70cm, and most of the girls are 65cm+) and I have them hanging out in little clusters around our apartment on various scale appropriate chairs and couches. Except for my RD Frankenstein (only available as a full set), I've gotten most of my dolls nude and blank so I'm not concerned with displaying huge elaborate outfits and I don't keep any of them in their boxes. If I'm spending that much money on something, it's going to be out where I can see it, touch it, and enjoy it. Nobody's kept in display cases, I'm not interested in living in a museum

 

@fate_xo Hahah, I know, it's easier said than done "thinking positive" I'm trying to stick to a neutral 'it comes as it comes' as I can't really influence it anyway and only make the best out of it.

I'm sure you'll do fine on the pic front ^^ We just want to oogle him ;P

Outfits are a long learning progress. I started with the most basic stuff for dolls under guidiance from my mum and granny and then we had some more basicas at should from the young age of 6. I then got into cosplay and my skills grew with my adoration for elaborate outfits, so I had enough drive and practice to keep getting better. Now I can escalate on my BJDs, thought not every attempt actually works out and I do keep making mistakes that sometimes makes me throw several days work in the bin, cause it's unsalvagable ^^° Those are frustrating moments. But it saves so much money and gets me what I truely want, so... Sticking to it. Unless an outfit is just perfect and reasonably priced. Then I'm so TOTALLY gonna be LAZY and let someone else take my money, while I enjoy the fruits of their work -^3^-

As for space... I started out with cleaning out stuff. I admit my flat was pretty empty to begin with when I started out, so I could arrange things a little bit.

For starters, I'd check if you have furniture that need replacements anway. Chest of drawers for example. You could easily 'upgarde' a chest of drawers for eg a wardrobe with drawers at the bottom and glass doors and shelves on top. Still got space for what you originally stored there BUT! The top is now you display cabinet! Wardrobes with glass doors have the advantage that they not only come in various sizes, but they also have a certain deepth, that allows you to to put more dolls in (some at the back, some at the front).
Other ways to gain storage space is to check bookshelves if you got any. Do you really need all the books there or are there some you don't want/need anyway? Maybe make some bucks from it as you get rid of them and with some re-arranging you might just have some space for dolls
Hanging cabinets are also an option for 'empty' walls. (I have a small one for MSDs over my sofa for example, but could have used the taller one and would now have space for SDs in those).
If you don't have pets that are a danger to your dolls, if they stand free, shelves are always an option. Maybe even just 'sit' them down, if you really have a 'hight' problem.

... Now that I list my own ideas, I'm suddenly sensing a lot of ... unused potential... ^^°°°

I'll admit my biggest 'doll storage' gain was when I switched the small storage/working room with my rarely used guestroom. It's still comfy for guests and I gained A LOT of space for a new display cabinett (Ikea PAX custom configuration) and to spread out dolls I'm working on and properly storing my crafting stuff easily accessable upstairs, rather than in boxes in the basement ;P

... Thought I'm curious, does that mean you display them undressed until they are dressed (if ever?) or in generall simply enjoy the... ahem, well sculpted bodies?

 

Nice! My husband is not doll friendly so only a few dolls get to stay out. Most sleep in custom made boxes wrapped in baby blankets where they are easy to pull out when I want them!

@Snowy I have converted a low, wide chest of drawers to a display case! I did that many years ago before I got into BJD's and it is still filled with some of my pre-BJD collection!

 

one of the groups, my HaoTian, Cesare, is back right - chatting with his sister. Aside from Yggdrasil, who's a MSD, Sirroco (C's sister) is the shortest of the group at 65cm

@Snowy - I very strategically stick to dolls that have similar measurements so everyone can share clothes, or at least close enough so that they can borrow something until I can get them something of their own. Having... 7... large LoongSoul boys, 6 of them on the same body helps with that quite a bit
@nancy_schroeder_ca - Luckily the Hus doesn't mind the dolls at all, and even if they did bother him, he'd be out of luck because I've always earned at least 2/3 of our income (100% the last 2+ years that he's been unemployed) and we both feel that anything as beautiful and expensive as my dolls deserves pride of place

 

I also have many 73cm LS bodies so they can share clothes and stories. I have 4 more coming.

They used to lounge around in one room together but I recently emptied several shelves in a metal cabinet in my office for them. It’s open so they can sit or lie down. It’s nice having the floor of the other room back. My partner doesn’t mind them but won’t engage like a doll friend. He helps me choose eyes and tolerates me showing him photos.

XD That actually isn't a bad idea at all. It certainly helps having the same body as an incoming doll home already to get some clothes prepared in advance.

I wouldn't even try that right now. My main collection is MSD sized and variates not just in shapes, but sizes too XD (and I love how different they all are ^^)

Unfortunately the only place I can really display my doll is in my bedroom since I’m still living with my parents, but I’m definitely like the idea of having them everywhere once I get my own place I suppose it is also to each their own whether they want to store them in boxes or keep them out but I just like to look at them, how can I not when they are so pretty haha

I wanted to post one for my other LS but I forgot all about taking pictures once he was in front of me haha. I think the wardrobe idea and the hanging shelves is definitely something I will have to look into! I actually moved my chest in my closet LOL but well I do have a small space I can put a few hanging shelves at and then I think I do have room for a shelf or something in one area. I love the larger boys but they take up so much room! But I guess it’s good for my wallet? Sort of? I have had to learn to curb my impulse decisions a bit lololol and well I also collect figures so

PeiHou-ShiZe looks good. I like him a lot.
But as always I have to think a little longer (due to lack of space and money) whether I should buy this doll or rather wait for another beautiful one. And since it is LS, it will surely be that time soon.

I sometimes wish these boys could be a bit smaller just so I can buy and fit more of them, but I also like the size at the same time haha. I think 80cm might be too big for me tho. 68-73cm seems to be the sweet spot for me ^^

Although, in all seriousness, having a couple hefty lads at home makes you think harder about each release, and it's easier to resist oooh pretty!! when one already has a few giving you the aren't I enough for you?? eye. At least for me. But then again... I'm 2 dolls short of my only 1 new LS a year rule, although depending on how you define that rule, I'm either only 1 off (include my MSD White Tiger) or 3 off (only count the big dudes)

I think I'm going to be safe. I have two SDs from another company about to get a face-up done in August and I decided on lightly altering my plans for them. Won't look anything like THAT particular Loongsoul, but... One of them might just give off a similar feel if my vision for him can come true ^^

Really jealous of those of you who got ginko boy. I'd love to buy him but my wallet refuses to cooperate since I'm still short one payment for Xuandi/Xuanlong and Goumang SP.

Loongsoul is the only company where I feel the urge to buy everything they release. If only the wallet (and the available space) could accommodate that many dolls though.

I used to think French yellow was their nicest skin tone. When they switched out the French pink for French light rose though, it seems to me that the light rose actually photographs better than the French yellow (in low light conditions or indoors lighting without a ringlight that is).

 

@fionvarre He's still avaible until the end auf August and a lot retailers offer 6-12 months layaway. Not wanting to tempt you, just saying, there might be options

@marci12 Congratulations!!! Wow, I feel he looks entirely different (better) on your pics than the offical ones. For some reason i was also convinced taht he had an open mouth. Huh.
Also really like the pic on insta where you put the mask over his face. I didn't even think that was possible and looked so good (I thought it was just decoration ^^°)

Fresh yellow seems really nice on swallow fairy! I only own doll in light rose and I really love the color (but I pretty much love the environmental resin look so, probably would love all of them), but I mind try get a doll in fresh yellow in the future. Currently I have little bit of LS resin obsession, I think if I would have to choose LS light rose as my favorite skin tone out of all of my dolls. The light rose looks really in in low light conditions too like fionvarre said above.

For anyone who cares haha the accessories box for my XuanDi arrived! Everything looks pretty amazing, the only thing I’m rather disappointed in is that the paint job on the armor pieces just seems really messy to me….like it’s missing paint in some areas or not painted fully. I don’t know if that’s normal but I feel like for the price I paid it’s a bit The pieces themselves are so cool though

Cant wait to get my actual boy now, hope he comes soon

Hey guys, Ive been looking at Loongsoul's dolls for a few days now and I'm wondering if buying direct is the best option if I don't want layaway? Location is USA if that matters?

 

IMO it's always best to buy direct if you don't need layaway. If anything happens in transit, which is unfortunately more likely now with everything going on in the world than before, you're guaranteed that they'll fix it. LS is pretty good about addressing issues with orders placed through dealers, however there are shops that present as an official dealer for LS but aren't actually, and it sucks to find out the hard way if you have something broken during shipping and LS won't do anything about it because you didn't order through official channels. If there's a dealer offering a deal you really like, i.e. free shipping, double-check with LS first if they're an official dealer. LS is pretty responsive to e-mails so it isn't too much of a hassle to be safe.

 

My favorite official dealers are Clover Singing and Alice’s Collections. I lost a 73cm body early this year when shipped (first of 10) and Christina of Clover Singing had it replaced in 2 weeks! Must have been from her stock.

 

My Xuandi arrived today! Box opening here. The accessories package still doesn't seem to have reached my country yet, so it'll be a little longer before I can show him in all his glory. But he's great just as he is now, too.

Since he's my first Loongsoul, I'm wondering if any Loongsoul pros here might know what that weird plush thing is supposed to be? XD

Since many DoA users have bought Xuandi or Xuanlong dolls, hopefully there will also be many, many pictures of the Black Dragon later from the other users. I would be very happy about it.

 

I’m still waiting on a shipping notice for my blank Xuanlong… Christina of new clover-singing is hoping for august for a shipping date!

 

since it's been ages since I've been able to take new pictures of any of any of my dolls (boo, elbow surgeries!) I thought I'd share the most recent of Mari (LainPian) who got pictures because I finally finished knitting her sweater

I was trying to get shots of her in natural light outside our apartment and the building's new resident manager dubiously asked if I was planning on leaving her outside(???) I guess she's never encountered BJD before
