Loongsoul 1/3 doll discussion Part 4

@Girrl Loongsoul do reissue limited beast sculpts sometimes, but only as blanks and possibly only for China market - both Daughter of Dragons and White Dragon had blank-only reissues last year. I wasn't able to get my hands on Daughter of Dragons, but I do have White Dragon on layaway right now.

We still have Crimson/red dragon and Yinglong to look forward to in the coming years, and my theory is that they might time Yinglong's release for Year of the Dragon in 2024. However, once this current series of dragons is complete, I'm not sure when they'll do another dragon release, or whether dragon releases will be as regular as before. They only reason this current series of dragons has been fairly consistent with releases is because the theme is about the Five Dragon Kings, which are arguably among the most famous dragons in Chinese folklore/myth.

 

Am I still too early or has anyone found owner pictures of Yu Ze?

I'm new here so I don't know if this has been asked before but does anyone have a photo of Loong Soul's skin tones? I currently only have french yellow and am curious how it compares to white and light rose. Sorry to say but I can't trust the accuracy of the promotional photos so real actual photos are the best.

Did you order the company face-up? If so, which version (Style A or B)?

 

I haven't been paying attention to my LS ZhuZhao as much as I ought to, but it's primarily because I've been poking away at his "skunk spots" wig. I normally Photoshop the edges to blend the wig better with the forehead during image post-processing, but I decided to just let the "roots show" for this one, so to speak.

Most of my boy dolls are hybrids. I have about 30 boy heads now, only one LS! This year alone I have ordered seven 73cm-2 bodies for various heads. I already have four of them. I keep trying to make myself buy other bodies but I always come back to this body. I can get it to pose in so many cool ways and I can’t find any bodies that stand so solidly that I can run and fetch a prop without worrying he will fall. T
My only complaint is the little feet. But I just keep them in larger shoes and I forget that this is even an issue! Is anyone else using these boy bodies for hybrids?

 

I actually like the little feet! Mostly because I like to knit my boys socks (not so much now, I'm between elbow surgeries at the moment) and most shoes for 70cm boys fit perfectly over their hand knit socks, no praying/swearing required. My big Ringdoll boy, who does have larger, more proportionate, feet is another story
I really miss the B-B73-01 body - the less ripped/bulky one. I really should bit the bullet and try the B-B73-03, but I don't think it comes with the ankle height extenders, and I really love my boys being a full 75cm
And since we were on the subject of socks (well, feet) old photo of one of my boys showing off his socks

I’m with you on that. I wonder if they could use the ones from the 02, but I’m thinking probably not. It’s a shame, cause otherwise it’s a nice body!

 

Wow! Do you have a light rose? I have a french yellow now and I am planning my next boy to be light rose but worried that he would be too pink for my taste. And do you know if their white is paper white?

 

I know nothing about the white but I do have a pinker body. It bought secondhand last year (it’s not very old) and the owner didn’t know exactly what the color was called. I saw an LS color they had called rouruo that looks closest. I think it’s a beautiful color. Lighter than any other pink I’ve seen and very delicate. It also came with jointed hands. I posted a comparison at one point here so I could show you if I still have it/can find it.

 

LS reconfigured their color names, and possibly tinkered with the colors themselves, since I ordered him, but my LongYi (Decimus) is Normal Pink Skin, which I'm pretty sure is now offered as Light Rose

Decimus (LongYi) on the left is LS NPS, girl in the middle is old (old) DZ NPS, and Julius (Ivan) down in the right corner is LS NYS

I have a white doll from LS, but she's MSD, has full body blushing (white tiger), and is from 2013, so LS may have changed their colors a bit since then, but I wouldn't call her paper white. Just to clarify my standard for "paper white" - ResinSoul's white is bright, paper white, LS' white is more like very cold nonfat milk white (link to picture)

All my LS dolls, most of my dolls in general, are French/environmental resin - if a doll doesn't have visible seamlines it's french/environmental resin. LS pink is very pink right out of the box. I can't tell if mine has mellowed, or I've just gotten used to it, but he doesn't seem so jarring pink to me now. If it is mellowing, it's completely even, and he still matches his extra parts that have been stored in a box.

 

How about white? Do you have a white one? How white is it? When I got my french yellow LS, it really didn't match the sample skin tones LS has in images so I can't really trust it anymore.

Based on my understanding it seems to be a special edition Miao Jun. They will also have a limited amount of sold with the collab artist faceup.

 

Hi, I bought Chu Mujin bloom fullset with limited wig last year. The wig is super fancy and came separately in its own box. But the nude colored netting extends past the hairline. I'm sure they don't mean for the netting to show. But if I cut too close, the hairs will fall out. It came with a piece of tape. Has anyone experienced this? Thank you.

 

@Melly123 I don't have one for BJDs, but in Cosplay there are also those kind of wigs, and you pretty much 'fold' the extra net on the inside and use it to attatch the wig better to your own hair with pins. I'm assuming the tape is double-sided and will aid you to fix the hairline in place where you want it.

But maybe someone else actually got one of these wigs and has better first-hand experience.



On a side note... Might I request more fantasy or ancient-china dressed pictures of the pretty Loongsouls?
I totally admire LS's style - like their new one - but most of their dolls are way to tall for my collection... but I like looking at them...
So... pics plz?
Also would like to specifially request any Farkas pics if anyone happens to have one :3 I'd like to show my friend what else LS used to get up to other than the chinese-styled gods (and I know she'll dig Farkas). -^3^-

I own a ShenLuo with the big ol' tiger paws for feet. She was styled in ancient-chinese clothing for her promo pics, but my girl is styled after one of my characters. I also decided that she is a lion instead of a tiger, hah!


I still need to get new pictures of her with her new wig... it's been years...

 

@Melly123 Yep, you need to cut that fabric down, leaving a few centimeters. I use nail set scissors. Then, cut pieces of the tape and affix around the head--namely the sideburn ares. Put on wig and tweak as needed.

@IzabethS Oh wow. That tail and dress are really amazing. The fluffy wig also helps with the 'lion's mane' thought I suppose as a lioness she wouldn't need to worry about that.
Would you happen to remember when she was released? I've stalked LS for a while and I can't quite remember her except for the feet to be honest XD

@marci12 OMGAWD you have some of my favourites (ok, who am I kidding, I love all as good as all of their fantasy creations T^T but always 70+... T^T). And really lovely pics too. I know a lot of what's online, but always eager for new pics ^^ Also I like to see what people do when they make the one or other adjustment or simply what kind of pics they actually do with these pretties. I'll dive into your links now and be happy in some new LS pic heaven now -^3^-
On a side note... do YOU have a personal favourite? And/or a concept you'd love LS to put into resin and pretty fabrics?

 

@Snowy : Thank you! She was released in 2016. I ordered her in 2017 and received her in about 3 months. It was amazingly fast! Now I am waiting on a Black Dragon (XuanLong) as well. I absolutely love her, and her giant size. In the world she exists in, she's a species called Umbra, which are loosely based on lionesque people. There the women have the poofy manes while the men have flat hair.
For a smaller fantasy doll from them there was a 58cm girl named Chloe who had hooves. I still kick myself sometimes for not getting her as she was super cute (here's her link from bjd collectasy)

 

@Snowy You're welcome! Hmm... favorite...that's hard. I like them for different reasons, but maybe Fox Xin Yue . I really don't have a particular character I'd love LS to make though. I think them releasing the dolls they do is a great way to showcase Chinese myths and such to the international community.

Wow, that is super fast. Can't remember a time where LS was that fast tbh XD I have a few of their MSDs and of their SDs so far I only have bodies for hybriding purposes. But I do have Jiao Mu Jiao (human version thought) ordered (expecting her in Nov/Dec).

Oh yes, that's true. I've admired chinese and japanese mythology for many many years, so stumbling into BJDs and then encountering Loongsoul's creations...
I think their Naga (the old god of water XD) was what stunned me the most - before they came with the Black Dragon this year.

I even have two of their outfits (still waiting on one) for my other dolls, because of their amazing quality, details and style~

 

@Snowy I did get him in tan, but blank as I am gonna do my own faceup! I am planning on giving him scales along the face much like his stepdad (OT for this thread) as they are both creatures called Flame Hearts (basically dragonesque people).
I need to repaint Lily (my ShenLuo) since she used to have a grey wig and is still painted for it from 2018. I just got her the white wig not even a month ago.

 

@IzabethS Oh! That sounds great! never heard of Falme Hearts, but know Dragonesque races from various games and rpg systems What colors will the scales get? And when do you expect him to come home?

Personally I think the current face-up also works with her wig :3

 

@Snowy flame hearts are a species my wife came up with, but they are essentially dragon people. His scales are gonna be red, and he’ll get golden eyes! He’s actually gonna be my wife’s character as I own his husband already (one of my characters and actually Lily’s younger brother), but he is OT for this thread too.
Black Dragon is perfect for him, and I am excited to get him. I suspect I won’t see him before October, at the very soonest. I ordered him in mid January.

Anybody else nearly checking at least twice a day in hopes of more news about Gingko boy? I also saw it's a collaboration with some game. Looked up some pictures of it and I totally wouldn'd mind if they made more of those characters. Pity it's probably once again a game that will never get an english translation T^T

@marci12 ginko guy is a collaboration doll with the Chinese game IP Swordsman 3. I don't know which character he's supposed to be since I don't play the game, but that's why the costume is a bit more stylized vs Loongsoul's usual outfits.

And it's likely this doll won't be available blank, as their most recent collaboration dolls like Su Huan Zhen and Onikori were also released as fullset only.

Spiritdoll has released several collaboration dolls with this IP before as well.

Oh, so it’s swordsman! I wondered about the title.

I guess we can expect the fullset to be also in the price range of the other fullsets, what do you think? 1000-1300$ I believe Onikori was? Gotta check the other one you mentioned. That one doesn’t ring a bell.

Hello! I hope I'm in the right spot to post this ^^;

I have a Loongsoul Bai Jue that should be here in the fall (maybe?? I ordered in Feb and I was told about 7 months) and I'm trying to get his outfit together so it's ready when he gets here. It's a custom hanfu that I've commissioned and the artist needs some specific measurements that I can't give without the doll body.
If anyone has the Loong Soul 62cm Boy Body (B-B62-02) and willing to measure for me I would greatly appreciate it!! This is my first Loongsoul and I don't have any close doll friends to ask personally.
