LatiDoll Yellow Discussion part 27

Jun 28, 2021

    1. lati has stopped including extra hands with basic dolls. this is a strange choice to me. unfortunately i feel like i have completely moved on from latidolls. the new basic look is just bland and samey :huh?:
what does everything think of the new basics?

    2. I can't even tell the new basic sculpts from each other any more. Except Yomi who's very cute, but I have too many Lati dolls anyway and I don't like their new basic skin tone (too pink/orange).

    3. I don't like the new sculpts either or the new skin colors. I love love love the old sculpts and releases. I am just hoping one day they re-release the old sculpts again. My wishlist is Polar Bear, Kong, Aabie, Lulu, Lina, Kuroo, Benny, Lami, and maybe Lati white Ari.

    4. I really think they should do a revival of all the older sculpts one day for long time fans. I was a fan of Lati since early 2010s, it was the first BJD I ever loved and still my #1 favorite. At that time I was an elementary school student so my mom did not let me buy any. I continued to love Lati and I bought my first Lati in 2021 when I was an adult. I am a huge fan of Lati's older releases and I think they have the best, mysterious, classic, nostalgic feeling. Just wish I could time travel:(

    5. Sometimes you can find older sculpts from the marketplace.

    6. I did buy some but they are all fairly yellowed and really stand out compared to my new white dolls, even though the owner kept it in good condition so I gave up on secondhand and just wait for re-releases.

    7. I got my first Lati in 2012 and I remember the magic of waiting up all night to see the new releases back then. It was so exciting and the dolls were special and unique with big 5-6 doll releases and beautiful costume. I really miss those days too. My first doll was Lea and now I never see her.

    8. I love the new spruced up basics - I have 9 on my wish list! Some of them are quite similar but there are enough there for me to like. Although I had a few of the old sculpts, there's only a couple I'd want to return. I think the face-ups and colours are better now, but I've not got a ns yet. I didn't like the old tan asmuch.

    9. I haven't bought any in a long time but was surprised to see all the old sculpts gone when I looked the other day. I have just a few but still love them.

    11. I love the old sculps. Mis the magic of receiving a box. It started for me when I saw flower garden Coco. Never managed to own her. Hoping they do a rerelease someday and all the older dolls.

    12. I recently received my third Lea from the MP. She's a Bloody Moon Mystic Lea. I already owned a Unicorn Angel and a Hellkid.

She's currently in the clothes she came in - I need to find her some shoes, but I actually rather like the Goth look for her. LOL!

I do miss the elaborate costumes.

    13. Her lips are beautiful. I love old Latidoll and old Customhouse faceups so much

    14. Cubie, Gabie, Aabie are sooooo cute and I also lovee Laches/Pury/Lina. I wonder why they don't sell them again? I believe Laches and Pury are the same sculpt and Lina is also the same but with human ears but I'm not sure.

    15. the open eyes bloodymoon lea was my first bjd :love i loved the matte lips they gave her

    16. I also have three Lati Leas, two of them came from the Marketplace.

On the left is Ratatosk, the Nutcracker. I got him directly from Lati. The other two came from the Marketplace. The middle one is Kopernikus, he is also from the Nutcracker release, but I don't know if he is the Nutcracker or the Prince as he did not come with the original clothes. The one on the right is Kalypso, the Pirate Captain. She does not have her original outfit either.

    17. @spih - Your Leas are lovely. I really love the nutcracker outfit, but the pirate outfit is cute, too.

I have 3 Leas, 2 Sunnys, a Sophie, 2 Harus, an Ellie and a Mia. I'd love to find Miel and/or Belle one day. I'm also hoping for more fantasy colors... Maybe that's just me, but I would love a yellow or green Lati...

    18. There is at least a green crocodile Haru and a yellow foolish monkey Sophie but they are probably very hard to find.

    19. lati has a green Yomi in stock on the no waiting section of the website ;)

    20. Ugh. I just missed it. Just like I just missed the yellow Sophie they had on the website earlier this year.
I just hesitated too long, and got the dreaded "sold out" message. :doh

I guess it's not just me who likes the yellow and green, then. :XD:

    21. I know that Bat version Haru (vampire) was rereleased a few years back. Did Lati rerelease any of the other older designs too?

    22. wizard of oz sophie and arctic friends mina (i think) came out with haru for that rerelease.

    23. Thank you.

    24. I just put in my orders for a tan and peach-white Little Match Girl Happy. Love her sweet confused look. I needed me a Happy and I am glad they came out with a tan version too.

      • x 1
    25. Congrats! Have you seen any photos of her in tan or the event head?

    26. Dollaxy has a facebook with pics of the event head, but I did not see a tan version. I always wanted a tan Happy though, ever since the Princess of the Underworld. I also really liked the faceup of the Mushroom fairy version, that was not tan.

    28. Does anyone else have trouble buying glass eyes for Lati yellow? For some of the sculpts with bigger eyes, 12mm can be too small and you see too much white around the iris, but when it comes to shopping for 14mm it's so hard to find one that aren't too big. 14mm irises can be HUGE sometimes even too big for my MSD dolls. It's so hard to find simple 14mm glass eyes with irises on the smaller side.

    29. I have trouble with eyes on most of my BJDs I think, especially when it comes to iris size. I have resorted to trying to make my own. It's a work in progress but I do believe there are sellers overseas that make eyes with smaller irises. I hope someone can point you in the right direction :)

    30. where are you all buying clothes from these days? i would like to get some nice outfits for my few remaining girls but i can't find anything that stands out to me. my favorite shops have sold the same clothes for so long and i feel like ive already owned most of what they have. i just dont want to buy the same things ive already bought and sold off in the past. i need something new!

    31. I have bought a few things from daily doll shop, it is the platform that the seamstresses in Russia use now. I find sellers on there that make that size by searching Lati, Pukifee, irrealdoll, and meadow twinkles. They ship registered mail and it takes 2-4 weeks for shipping. I also have bought multiple times from Carla’s Couture on Facebook and Gugu Moda on Etsy but I guess it depends on what style you’re looking for.

    32. Doll Peddlar is having a sale on Lati Dolls, some newer and some old stock.

    33. Oh nice they have a Lati white I’ve been eyeing for two years lol I’ll pay attention

    34. What does everyone think about the new pigs (adorable) and Lea re-released as an SP? I'm kind of excited to see Lea again but I do worry about clothing. Does anyone have any SP dolls they could share photos of?

    35. Lea looks kinda weird and the body is strange with those tiny hands lol. I don’t understand the direction they are going in lately

    36. I compared the new Lea's face to my old Lea. The mold seems to be the same except for the teeth, but the face up is so totally different that it is hard to recognize it as the original Lea.

I have several old Lati SPs but they are very old, from 2007 or thereabouts. They have very big hands, but Lati reduced the size of the SP hands later. They still looked reasonable size, not as tiny as the new ones. The SP version originally had only one pair of hands, but the new one seems to have several different hands.

I'm not sure if a photo of the body would help much. The size is fairly close to that of Fairyland Realfees but not exactly the same shape. I'm not sure which doll would be closest to the shape and size of the Lati Yellow SP.

      The pigs are adorable.

    37. I'd not really noticed the hands, I'll have takd a closer look. Thanks all.

    38. As to the body size, would a comparison photo of a Lati SP and a Fairyland Realfee be of any help? Luts Zuzu Delfs and Pipos PI are about the same size, too.

    39. Is the sp head
Yes please, I have a realfee so it would help gauge proportion sizes. Thank you.

    40. OK, here's a quick comparison picture. The main difference is that Lati SP has longer legs. The realfee has a bit wider hips. (Realfee about 12.5 cm, Lati SP about 12 cm). Feet are almost exatly the same size, Lati's feet are about 1 mm longer. This is an old Lati from about 2007, and she has the original large hands. The hand size appears to be much smaller now.

I'm not sure what you were asking about the head, but the Lati Yellows and the Lati Yellow SPs use the same heads.

    41. Thank you so much, that's really helpful! I didn't realise the head comment had posted, I meant to delete it.

    42. Since there was mention of older sculpts just popping in to share my Lati Yellow Lumi who I just wiped and painted again. I've had her quite a long time now (11 or 12 years...doesn't seem like that long!) and she has yellowed so I wanted to refresh her with nicer face paint and add some pink blushing to refresh her.

    45. Honestly I didn't even realise that they have changed the bodies. I have a little group of Lati Yellows and then didn't add any more so had got out of the habit of checking in there. I will have to learn about the changes. I do remember having a wait time of about 9 months each time I ordered. They are so cute though. I need to find some tiny doll stands for them. I have Latis and one little Crobidoll.

    46. I think there are at least 4 different body styles for the Lati Yellows. The oldest one is single jointed. And the construction of the knee joints has changed several times.

    48. The new sculpts and faceups seriously remind me of Chicabi. Personally, I'm not a fan, but it is very different. The image of Lati has changed a lot. I wonder if maybe all the old artists, sculptors, and seamstresses have retired and these are the new artists.

    49. its kind of unsettling.. little creepy. im really not a fan.

    50. I have some old lati yellows (I guess about 5?) and i think im gonna sell them cause i'm not really a fan of the size

    51. I thought she’s similar to Yomi too, with a smile rather than the pout.

    52. I kind of like her. She's really cute in the photo. I don't have a big collection of this size at all though.

I just got some stands from Amazon and they almost work but not perfect. What type of stands (if any) do you use for your Lati Yellow dolls?

      • x 1
    53. For posing or just for display?

    54. I don’t use stands even though they would be easy to edit out of photos. I just struggle to pose them and deal with them falling over but eventually I would like to get something like these.

    57. Thanks @flornosertao and @NineOneThree sorry that I didn't see your replies until now. Yes, I meant just for display as mine tend to end up being laid down because I'd hate for them to fall. The Kaiser stands don't go down to the right size from what I could find (maybe I am not looking in the right places.) I bought a similar style but they are a bit cheap looking and the waist part doesn't really come up high enough. They do work and it's nice to see the dolls all standing for a change :D but I'd love something a little sturdier. I really like the little hidden stand thingies for photo taking! They look very useful.

Love your lineup of cuties @Dollquest I don't have a Lati with the darker tan - love that skintone. I do have an older Crobidoll in that colour though.
