Iplehouse Waiting Room v35

Feb 3, 2020

    1. Did you get an email from Iple with the confirmation?
If so, you have the order number on it, and you'll have an email address.
If not, try using this email address: [email protected]

    2. I didn't get an email (hence my alarm) but the webmaster reset my password today! Also apparently the Iplehouse website does not play nicely with Chrome...

    3. Soon out of the waiting room. My FID Tedros is now on its way to me. It took less than 2 months since I ordered, I am really (and happily) surprised by how fast Iplehouse completed my order !

    4. My big kitty is shipping already! That was super fast! I ordered on Friday, February 23, 2024. Just checked the website today, and there's already a tracking number! WOOO! BIG KITTY! :dance:dance:dance
I ordered a blank puma, which is still available for sale.

    5. Beginning of May ordered my Doll Choice HID W + Scarlet head (that one from Carved Heritage). Now it's time to worry how will she travel, when will she arrive, if I'll be home to receive her, it's summer travel time and I go to see my parents. Maybe I should ask my daughter in law who is home with a baby to get her at their address. How big the customs duty and tax will be, how technically I can pay it - by the door in cash, how much, or online. Looked up customs tariffs for South Korea for dolls, looks like it's 0% in UK, so only VAT. Fingers crossed.
Knitting is my way to calm my stress, have knitted hats for every member of the family and obviously some doll stuff too. A sun hat and handbag set in gold and lilac. Hope the size will be ok. Plan to make white cable knit sweater, brown skirt with ruffles. I have some sky blue mohair, very beautiful, wonder what I should make from that.

    6. So my Benny arrived... and I'm honestly kind of upset. Please keep in mind this is my third Iplehouse doll; I had a YiD Real Skin boy for quite a while before I realized I'm just not as excited about boys.

Benny is dirty. She has whiteish residue all over her; she's smudgy, she seems like someone maybe tried to roughly sand her? Her entire head is full of smudges, the white stuff--it's just a mess. It doesn't seem to be marbling inside the resin, it's on the surface? This doll has no customizing on her so there should be no sealant either. I left a message on Iplehouse's Q&A board because honestly, if she had not come directly out of a box straight from Iplehouse, I would be thinking this doll is either used and poorly cared for, or a recast. Am I crazy?

First I noticed these spots on her tummy.
      Then both her heels...
Her headcap is covered in dirt.
      [IMG] [IMG]
See how there's a whiteish shadow like old sealant? But there shouldn't BE any sealant on her, she's blank.
I don't know what this is supposed to be.

    7. @Honooko - You know, that kind of looks like someone maybe had a mishap with the glue when they were gluing her headplate on? Have you tried testing to see if rubbing alcohol/Winsor & Newton removes it or not? If it doesn't, maybe it's glue and not sealant? Either way, that's not okay. And the sanding/grinding inside the eyes looks pretty rough, so yeah, that would be disappointing as well. Some sanding on the heels is normal, but it does seem like the person wasn't very careful about keeping it minimal. The mark on the torso looks like ones I've seen on a few of my dolls, but since it's usually only visible if the light hits it right, it's never been bad enough to bother me. I've been guessing it's from a small drop of water/cleaning fluid left on the surface of the mold while casting, but I don't really know. I'm sorry the arrival is so disappointing for you in any case. Please let us know what Iplehouse says.

    8. Iplehouse responded:
      Hello.

We would like to tell you that it can stand out easily in darker color even if there is a little dust on it.
It may be caused by sanding to remove marks during the production process.
Please wet the magic block with water and wipe it lightly. We are truly sorry for this inconvenience.
However, please kindly understand that these are not eligible for refund or exchange.

      Thank you.

I'll wipe her down tonight, but I don't see the headcap or eyewells improving with a melamine sponge. I want to at least ask for a replacement headplate, since mine is gouged. When I got my Tania, she didn't even come with a headplate, they forgot it entirely and had to send it separately. Maybe they'll replace mine. If it's superglued on, then a little while in the freezer should make it easy to pop off, right?

I'm just... disappointed. I have been saving up for her for years; not being able to enjoy her straight out of the box really hurts.

      • x 3
    9. @Honooko - You have the right to be disappointed. Having all of those on the same doll is not normal in my experience. I suppose whoever did it assumes it's all going to be hidden. Sorry to hear they don't see a problem, but it's probably a good thing you told them, anyway. I assume her face is all right at least? I've always liked Benny's sweet expression.

    10. The thing that infuriates me, is that they have shut down the possibility of an exchange. At least they should exchange the head cap with a new one, if their solution fails miserably. Thank you for sharing this. I will make sure to steer clear from iplehouse darker skin tones. I am extremely disappointed to see such poor quality control and costumers support.

    11. If you don't see results on your end (magic eraser) and you're not happy with the doll and their response, do a dispute with either PayPal or your credit card.
I got a dark brown EID in March last year and there were no issues with her.

    12. @Honooko
I got to admit to being surprised at seeing how your doll arrived. Like @ Sianserais stated, their heels do get sanded but usually they are more careful than that. Looks like a new hired did it and either isn't familiar with their work very well or didn't care. The spots are something that a couple of my Tan dolls have had, but you can't really see it unless it's viewed at the right angle. Now the headcap and eyes, wow. can't say I ever had a doll received like that.

I'm so sorry to hear that they think, that's okay. Iplehouse usually is better than that. I've seen other companies dolls look rough and crappy inside, but Iplehouse dolls have not been like that. Not sure what's going on with them. Your disappointment is understandable.

Ps. I would not use magic eraser on the tan doll. It's like microsanding it. See if you can get a soft towel, wet it and see if that helps.

    13. She is practically knocking on my door! 2 months since ordered. Got the notice about tax payment, paid. My google search was correct, in UK there is no customs duty on dolls from S.Korea, only had to pay VAT (50£) and handling fee (12£).
I hope she will be ok, no surprises like @Honooko just had. Mine is NS. Fingers crossed.

    14. After selling all my dolls and taking a 10 year hiatus from this hobby, I have just purchased an Iplehouse Reese. I have continued to lurk the Iplehouse website every now and then, as it is my favorite BJD company, but never felt justified to spend the money. But recently, I have been on a journey to accept myself and heal my inner child, and felt this was an important step on this journey. I LOVE dolls, and I am so excited to have one of my own again and re-join this community. To be able to enjoy an ‘odd’ hobby without shame and judgement from loved ones is a true blessing, and the ability to afford these beautiful works of art is another.

      now the wait begins…:D

    16.
    17. She is in my hands! She is absolutely perfect! :love
Was quite an adventure, she was almost sent back to Korea. :horror:

So the full story: ordered 2nd May. Ok, it will take 2-3 months, I can go on a vacation. Actually already before the 2 months there was a letter in my post box saying I have to pay customs duty but the person keeping an eye on the house didn't open my letters (mistake to correct for next time). Then there was another letter. Both on paper by snail mail, nothing on email. 2nd July I'm napping in a hammock in a garden in far away country. Suddenly there's a phone call: "Are you going to pay or shall we send the box back to Korea?" What! Obviously I know there's only one package coming to me from Korea. Fell out of the hammock in my hurry to get it all sorted. On pine cone covered ground. Had to pay fast so that the money rolls in the UK courier's account the same day. My Luxembourg bank does foreign transfers only next day. No good. My husband paid from his UK account and set the delivery date as late as possible, on the 19th, closer to our return. All good. I didn't worry till then. Turns out she was delivered already on the 10th. Luckily my friend took the box inside the house almost immediately.

After I returned I walked around the box for a few days getting ready to do the big box opening video. I have it, will post here too when i figure out how to post videos. For now I'll try to post some photos. Made a squeaky new Flickr account specially for that. Let's see how it goes. Photos of her straight out of the box, threw on a beach clothes set that I had just finished knitting on that trip. Took the measurements solely from Iplehouse webpage and their body photos. The skirt could be longer and the jacket sleeves a tad bit shorter.

Nope. Photos don't want to work. Can anybody please tell where exactly do I get the correct url from Flickr?

    18. You need to set it on BB Codes and copy.

    19. This is all I get:
      [IMG]doll1[/url] by Ilona Lablaika-Williams, on Flickr[/IMG]

    20. I can only get BBCodes on my laptop, not mobile. What are you using?

    21. Desktop computer. I'll try on iPad, maybe will be different.

    22. Use your desktop.
Click on the photo. Click on the share arrow on the bottom right.
Look at the options on top. Chose size. I think I usually do medium.
Chose BBCode on far right on top.
      Copy address.
      Paste on DoA.

    24. Yesterday I ordered a JID Daniel. This is not my first Iple doll (I have a JID Boris I bought second-hand years ago) or even the first time my household has ordered direct from Iple (that honor goes to my spouse's JID Colin) but it is personally my first new Iple doll. I'm so excited! I've already got a character set for him, and I haven't done many doll purchases in the past few years (aside from one at a con and another with tax money).

I'm anticipating getting him late fall, early winter, especially since I ordered with faceup, but seeing people get theirs in a couple months, maybe it'll be at the earlier end of that!

    25. I ordered a bunch of shoes as a gift for my husband today! It still says before payment, but I’m assuming that is just because it is the weekend.

Either way, I’m looking very forward to the (hopefully) quick arrival!

    26. Anyone else experiencing longer than usual delays on their doll orders? I'm about to hit 15 weeks for my FID Rania even though I ordered on the day she was released.

    27. Nobody else? just me then:(

    28. Did you order her with makeup?
I was told a few weeks ago that they are backed up on makeup orders and there is a delay.
If you ordered without makeup, just drop them a Q&A with your order number and ask if they know when it will ship.

    29. It's a little quiet in here...

I bit on the Holiday Sale and just ordered Mari in Real Skin on the YIDG body. :whee:

    30. You have "Iple-itis";)
      There is.......no cure:eusa_sile:)

      • x 2
    31. The only thing I can do... is buy more Iple dolls! :D
I contracted Iple-itis when I first got into the hobby... almost half of my collection is Iplehouse. I've got 16 Iple dolls at the moment, and Ms. Mari is no. 17. And I've got 15+ more Iple dolls on my want list...:whee:

      • x 2
    32. @Quirked and @susieagent99 - I can plead guilty to Iple-itis. I have so many...I wish they would come out with something wonderful and new. I have to admit...Christmas seems different when I don't have an Iple dolly on the way...I also miss that some of my beloved faceup artists don't do faceups anymore.:( I used to love to see a sculpt's possibilities with other faceups by artists and owners.

So, while you wait for your Mari...let me show you mine.

On the left RS Mari with a faceup by Cristy Stone, in the middle a PG with a faceup by Lyn Raftis and on the right RS with the Iplehouse faceup.

    33. @luluna: I miss the days of new releases! BUT since they've slowed (if not stopped) on that, I'm able to get the more basic-ish dolls on my list. ;) I love all of your Maris! I love that they're distinctly different, even being the same sculpt.

I'm so excited for mine to get home! :D

@Mahgiep: Your Mari and Soo are gorgeous!

    34. @Quirked - Thanks so much! Sad to wonder if Iplehouse has stopped making new sculpts! :atremblin It is a good time to get anything that was on a 'someday' list.

      • x 1
    35. I wonder if they have many sculptors left? Because I'd seen on DOA years ago that the sculptor for Raccoon Doll was from Iplehouse (not sure if that's true?). I've also seen that SartoriaJ's sculptor is from Iplehouse, which I believe, because I see a lot of similarities in some of the SJ facial structures.

What worries me about my long 'someday' list are mass discontinuations like they did in 2016-2017. I ended up ordering 6 dolls in that timeframe (Luna, Andrew, Giorgio, Tatiana, Tania, and "I"). And I just got faceups for 5 of them within the past year. *_*

      • x 2
    36. Yes...I'm aware of the sculptors going to Raccoon and SJ. (and maybe Dollits too? There was another company, I think.) Lately I've purchased more SJ dolls...but I still love the Iplehouse bodies better overall.

Discontinuations! Yes...I fear they will just slide sculpts off the lists. Sometimes when I've gone over there it seems like some are missing...I know they have limited the sculpts in DC...and I had asked them why they didn't have Raffine there...and they put her back. (So, I felt obligated to get her. :XD:). But if a sudden massive list of discontinued sculpts came out and we had one last chance to get one...it would be a frantic time for my wallet.

I look forward to seeing your newly faceupped crew! :)

    37. (LOL!) Most definitely you, are infected! ;)

      • x 1
    38. I love seeing your dolls, you have such a wonderful, beautiful collection.
I too feel the sadness about Iplehouse and not having that "new sculpt" feeling if the past years. I'm also, like you, I prefer the Iplehouse "body" over SJ, and I only have 2 of their dolls (1/3 size) And lets not talk about faceup artists:...( I miss buying a blank doll, and sending the head to an artist here in the US but now, I only know of 1, (that I've used before) I have used an artist in Korea a few times and recently (this past summer) I wanted to send her a head but she told me she is booked up for a long time. I didn't ask "how" long but, I'm assuming at the time she told me, her slots for commissions was full till after the Holidays and then some (sigh)

      • x 1
    39. @luluna - Creature Doll was the third, but it shut down. Shame, because the artist was doing some really nice 1/4 fantasy designs, but they just didn't get much attention at the time.

And yes, the possibility of discontinuations concerns me a bit as well! Still want at least a couple more IH dolls, but you know how it goes...

      • x 1
    40. @susieagent99 - Thank you so very much for your kind words! :)

I miss seeing examples of various faceup artists on owner's sculpts...that we used to see. I used to look forward to seeing how certain artists would interpret a sculpt. It seems like that part of the hobby isn't as diverse as it used to be.

I still have several blank heads that I've wanted to dabble with myself...but any faceup I do can't compare to some of the artists I used to send heads to.

@Sianserais - Oh thanks for that! I guess co-vid hit the bjd business hard. It's a shame. I now wonder how vibrant the other companies are?

    41. So... I ordered nYID Mari in Real Skin via Doll Choice on December 03 with no faceup or extras and paid in full, and as of December 26 her status is now marked as 'shipping'! :o

I was expecting her to show up at the end of January at the earliest lol

      • x 1
    42. @Quirked - Wow, that seems super-fast...but I guess with no faceup really speeds up the process. Congratulations!

      • x 1
    43. She's home! :D Now to get to work on an outfit, styling her wig, and getting her booked for a faceup. She has eyes on order that I'm not expecting to show up until February or March.

I'm out of here for now, but with as many Iple dolls as I have on my 'To Buy' list... I'll be back. ;)

      • x 9
    44. I just ordered a FID Leonard with the type "A" face-up in normal skin on the muscle body!!! I do love those cheekbones!!! My resolution this year is to NOT buy dolls (yet to see if that's a resolution I can stick to) as I went a bit crazy last year, but this boy is the exception - I really wanted a boy on the muscle body so I could sew for all the body types in this size. I have a Sartoriaj Ath boy (well actually one on the way and one I sold that hasn't left yet, so that evens out to one I guess), and a FID model, but not this one - that, and I have a whole lot of girls but hardly any boys and wanted to even up the gender balance a bit!!!

So now the long wait starts!!! Or I presume it will be fairly long, since I ordered a face up? It would be nice if it was quick though!

I was a bit disappointed that practically all the wigs were out of stock though, I'll just have to hope that something I already have suits him, or do a separate order later, if they ever restock - that wig sale has been going on for ages, I'm kind of worried they might be phasing out their wigs and trying to get rid of stock, or something? Which will be very sad if so, it's hard to get nice 5-6 wigs that look good on the FID size!

    45. Hello everyone! This is my first post on DOA. I recently bought a Iplehouse S.I.D. Edan on December 3rd with the standard A-type face up, normal skin tone and muscular body. Would anyone have an estimate of when he will arrive?

From what I've read, there are a lack of face up artists with a combination of the holiday season which would make things a bit slower. I even checked the old waiting room where people would post their purchase dates and arrival dates and there was no information on any bought in 2024 (which I would have used for a general estimate). I'd appreciate any help! Thank you.

    46. @queenzektra101 - Welcome and congratulations on your incoming SID Edan. He's a fine choice.:)
I haven't ordered from Iple in awhile...but usually they ship out in within 90 working days...usually. Like you said it can depend on facup artists and general order intake. But they have seemed pretty consistent.

While you wait...here is a photo of my twin Edans. :XD:

    47. @luluna

Thank you so much for responding! Also omg yours are so awesome! I love the face ups on both of them! I guess I'll sit tight while I wait haha.

I've just been buying clothes and accessories for him meanwhile. Buying stuff for him has been such a hassle since he's in between sizes for a lot of things. He's going to be my first resin doll so I'm pretty excited for him!

      • x 1
    48. @queenzektra101 - You are welcome! :) And thank you. What resin color did you order your Edan in?

And this hobby teaches us patience that's for sure.

Yes, it's a bit more difficult to find good outfits for this SID size. But not impossible. Happy hunting!:evilplot:

    49. Congratulations!!! I’ve also just ordered a new boy - FID Leonard in my case - and was wondering about the wait time. I know it used to be about 3 months but I don’t know if it’s still the same. We’ll just have to both be patient I guess!!!! :D

    50. @luluna - I ordered him in normal skin! Oh yes it does. I don't mind the wait though, it gives me something to look forward to! Also yep!

@morganatron - Thank you! The Leonard sculpt is such a good one! I was considering getting the E.I.D. version of him at some point. We'll just have to sit tight though. Make sure to post pictures when he comes!

    52. Sorry for the double post but I just got a shipping notice after only a month?! I ordered a face up and everything! Unbelievably speedy!!!! I’m so excited and pleased, can’t wait until he’s here and I can post pictures!!!

    53. He's here!!!

And he's so handsome and wonderful!!! Happily, this wig I bought for another doll looks just perfect on him, and although I was thinking of getting him brown eyes, I actually don't mind these more intense ones I put in as a placeholder instead? I'll have to think about that one. But I'm so excited he's here and that he shipped out so fast?! Almost instant gratification right there - I love it!!!

It's June, which means it's my birthday month. AND Iplehouse just started their Summer Sale. So I went ahead and ordered my birthday doll: Aria on the nYID body in Light Brown. :D
