IpleHouse JiD Mini Discussion Part 19

Nov 26, 2017

    1. Now I can share a photo of my JID Owen, Henry.

I sewed him a shirt and jeans, he will need a wig and shoes. Socks I had already so I'm glad they fit him. :)

    2. @xaya Nice! He looks great in his new clothes.

      • x 1
    3. Wow, a real pro job on the clothes, very nice @xaya :D

      • x 1
    4. Thank you @Lillith and @IngieBee :) I've been sewing doll clothes since I got my first doll at 2005 and I have studied as a dressmaker long time ago. :D Lots of practise. I'll try to have some photos of him with my other dolls, there are some in my Instagram if you want to take a look of some basic comparisons with other brand dolls. (Mainly FL Minifee and Bimong Narae).

    5. I have to get off my bum and rework my minis. I want to give them new characters :D @xaya I just followed you on instagram, your dolls look adorable together. I love the way you have them interact. You photograph them so well, I have a hard time, but then I don't take my time like I should :(

    6. @IngieBee Thank you, I'm glad you like them and thanks for the follow. :DDoes all of your dolls have a character or story? :) Mine actually doesn't have a big story, like with some that I've made little stories it started just casually when I had photographed clothes I received. I just take many snapshots with my phone and then post even tough I try to get good angles, they don't always work. I want to keep my instagram so that it's okay if I post not well thought material, it should be fun. I do enjoy seeing better photos from everybody but it's somehow tedious to take the real camera and work with that. I hope I'll get into photoshoots with Henry soon. He needs shoes and wig. But I'm in no hurry, it's nice to find new stuff for him too.

    7. @xaya noooo :( I have great difficulty coming up with characters and that is my current challenge. I'm handicapped with the inability to act, come up with characters or write storied, LOL. My challenge isn't even to come up with a story, but some kind of background and character for each of my dolls, even if the character is from a book (a little cheating I suppose, LOL) So I'm very envious of people who can do this, LOL

    8. A while back I had a failing photosoot due camera adjustments which I didn't check before beginning. So all the photos became really grainy, but I had photographed my dolls with my phone too, so here's a photo comparison from JID Owen with my other slim mini size dolls.

      In order from L-R:
      Iplehouse JID model boy
      CP/Fairyland B-line girl, large bust
      Fairyland A-line model boy
      Harucastin E-minor body
Fairyland A-line (old) girl body, F-bust, cutie legs
Fairyline A-line (old) girl body, large bust, model legs
      Bimong New Narae body
      Fairyland M-line, cutie bust

    9. Hello everyone,
I have a question, is there any way to buy a seperate chest part from Iplehouse? I have a JID Cordelia with the glamorous chest and it is too big for my taste. :/
I can already tell, the answer is probably "No", since I already checked the parts section on Iplehouse's website and they only seem to have feet and hands. But maybe I missed something.

    10. Probably yes, you can. Few years back I bought a pair of upper leg part for my boy. I emailed Iplehouse and they said, that they'll prepare a custom order for me. I still have this order in my shopping account listed as "custom order". Just try to ask them about the bust part.

    11. Maybe you can. Post on Q&A and include the COA number of your doll.

    12. @ilia @MB Lilac Wow, I didn't expect that, that would be wonderful, thank you both for your help.

    13. He looks perfect!

@xaya what a great comparison shot, is your boy realskin?

    14. You know your Iplehouse dolls, yes he is. :) I really like this colour a lot.

    15. I've had a blank Cordelia for months now. Jay Searle did the face up, so luscious and romantic. She models her new lace undies made from vintage textiles. As soon as she has an overgown (the seamstress has been notified!), she'll fix her hair and model that too!

    16. @Frillseeker she is so pretty!!!! Will she get an outfit as vintage as her undies?

    17. @IngieBee
I am going to try and do a Regency overdress that features her lingerie as part of the bodice. Her knickers will be hidden modestly of course!

      • x 1
    18. @Frillseeker A regency dress sounds cool, layered looks are pretty awesome imo! Hopefully I'm thinking the right thing too. Her underdress is very cute, I like how delicate it looks!

    19. I asked Iplehouse about buying a new chest piece separately and they replied with this:

      "Hello,

We do not offer the body parts separately. We are sorry.
Purchasing body parts are only able as the AS service and it should be same size/skin options from your previous order.

      Please understand it. Thank you.

      Iplehouse"

Does anyone know what they mean with "AS Service"?

    20. @Amadiel - A/S is "After Service," which makes the word "service" in their message sound redundant... but it's the Support - Hospital section on their site, I believe!

      • x 1
    21. I think that is their after care, thing. I don't know what the AS stands for, but it is to make it possible to buy replacements for broken parts and such, I believe.

    22. Just wanna show JID Jud who lived in my place for some time by now. Don't see him often)

    23. @Darlin He is handsome! Is that company face up or custom? :)

    24. @Darlin He is very handsome! And he looks more mature than most of the JID boys!

    25. What a gorgeous face! He's such a cute boy!

    26. I have an Iplehouse Ryan, Strongman Partner. Poor little Ryan's right foot has come off - the ring on the foot is broken off and long gone. I was about to order new feet for him when I realized I don't know what skin he has. The COA doesn't say. Does anyone know what color replacement feet I should order?

    27. We'd need to see a photo of him. But to be sure you could ask Iplehouse in Q&A. Give them your COA number and tell them you aren't sure what colour he is. They probably have records.

    28. Did you hear me slap the side of my head? Of course, that's what I should do. Thank you.

That's such a pretty face-up. Her knees look pink - is her body blushed, too?

    29. @Violet Kidd
You know what, I am out of town away from her for about a month, and I'm not sure. I'm going to bring her up to Seattle to live near my granddaughter. I did ask Jay to body blush her, so you are probably right. She needs a hairdo and a wardrobe, too. A girl can't just run around in her undies, no matter how pretty they are!

    30. My Ryan, Strongman Partner was feeling left out - everyone else had new clothes. So today was his day. I need to restring him and probably buy him new feet (one foot lost it's hook and has a metal replacement hook screwed in - but it's not great for mobility). He is showing his age, but he was my first Iplehouse doll - so he has a special place here.

    31. He's gorgeous @Violet Kidd . I love my Ryan. He was my first boy doll except for Ken, Barbies boyfriend, LOL:)

    32. Do you have Ryan's gauntlets? My boy lost his before he came to me. I'd like to try to reproduce them but I'm not sure how they fastened.

    33. Unfortunately, I got my Ryan blank, no full set @Violet Kidd :atremblin I really love that outfit though!!!

    34. Love his hairdo and outfit!! I believe you were asking for his skin colour on an earlier post? He looks like he could be special real skin to me :)

      • x 1
    35. If he is older he could be the original "real skin" as well, before the "special" was added to the name. I could remeber it wrong, but I think it had a slightly colder hue and it was one of those skin colours that sometimes changed a bit strangely over time wich is probably why they canged it and why it can be hard to find reliable pictures of it.

      • x 2
    36. Yes, the original Real Skin is different than what it is now. It had French resin in the formula so was more translucent. It also had more 'green' or 'yellow' undertones depending on what the weather as like when the doll was made. Iplehouse changed their resin formula after they started having trouble getting the French resin, so took it out. After that the real skin resin became very matte, and with definite red undertones. Most of my JIDs are the older Real Skin. The only two who aren't, were ordered in Glow Real Skin in the hopes that it would match the older Real Skin, but it did not.

But getting a replacement foot for an older real skin doll wouldn't be a problem. The colours will be close enough, even if not exact. People claim that the Glow Resins are more translucent, but I've not found that to be the case, and in fact the Glow Real Skin is even darker and more red than the standard Real Skin (which I have many BIDs, KIDs, and FIDs in)

    37. Thank you. This is great information. I'm going to keep the screw hook foot as long as possible, but should probably go ahead and order new feet - it takes so long for an order to arrive that he'll probably be footless by then. And yes, he is a little green. I didn't notice it so much until I set him up for a picture near a window and thought he looked a little like the Hulk.

    38. Thank you. I'm such a terrible wig maker, so I was surprised when this one came out so well. I bought some wonderful fabrics from a woman in LA who buys old kimonos and deconstructs them. The silk she sells is wonderful.

      • x 1
    39. The original Real skin did have a tendency to 'yellow'. or 'green' a little, but some even started out that way. My Kyle from 2012 always looked like he was 'green', right out of the box, yet it never showed up in photos. Same with my KID Lisa. Iplehouse even said back then that the real skin could lean towards 'green' or 'yellow' undertones depending on the weather. Which is the main reason that I've never ordered any doll in PG, as it makes the old RS look even greener. if two dolls those colours are photographed together. Now Special Real Skin is quite a bit more red, so there's no problem with that. But most of my JIDs, KIDs and BIDs are the older RS.

      • x 2
    40. Yes. I noticed that the green tinge didn't show up in pictures and thought that was odd. Still think it's odd, but I'll take it.

    41. It wasn't just the real skin either. I have an old (like, very old) white skin Tania and she also have a hint of green in certain lights. I've also noticed that is doesn't show up much in pictures and her rather yellowed colour even looks a fair bit more natural than it ever does in real life.
I put it under a spoiler, since it's NSFW

    42. Oh, she's beautiful! I would not have thought she was white skin. It's funny how these dolls photograph.

    43. Thanks! She was my second BJD ever and I bought her second hand. She was already yellowed quite a bit then and she realy hasn't changed that much since. I bought a NS JID Boris new several years later and right from the start she was actually a shade darker than him, albeit a lot more on the yellow side. He then went on to actually fade a bit and is still a very pale doll, many years later.

    45. That is very generous of Owen! Great picture!

    46. @MB Lilac Owen makes a great job! :)

I'm finally gathered the courage to make Henry a wig, I'll need to finish it but I'm quite exited and hope I'll be able to show more of him soon. (Henry is JID Owen).

      • x 3
    47. Thank you @nancy_schroeder_ca , @IngieBee , @xaya
I have two Owens, since he's the most mature looking of all the JID guys, and I find a handmade wig helps make them look even older. Owen and Steve (Owen #2) are both working on the road....[IMG]

      • x 8
    48. That's so cool @MB Lilac

I started a wig several times and failed to finish. I need to do a bunch of boy wigs, but I get a mental block and fear sets in which is stupid, LOL

    49. I also hate making wigs, so just force myself to start...and so far they've always turned out.

      • x 1
    50. My wig had way too high hairline in the front so I did my best to save it and glued more material to lower it. I still had to let it dry and hopefully I'll be able to finally style it tomorrow so that it will be OK and Henry will finally look like he is my doll and what I wanted him to look like. I'm going to buy another JID boy next year, this years dolls have basicly bought/decided.

    51. I just wish IH would release some more mature looking JID guys.

      • x 2
    52. @MB Lilac I definitely wish they would do that too, with jaws and great noses like Owen has. It would be great.

I finished the wig I was making for Henry, I'm quite pleased with it. He will need better shoes or boots so I can go out to photograph him.

    54. He's splended!! Love the wig, it looks perfect!

Thanks for the pep talk @MB Lilac I need that! And of course another amazing photo. You do what I want to do!

    55. I've just redone the face up for my JID Boris, named Samuel.
Here he is together with Matilda, the previously mentioned Tania (really old JID with new hands).

    56. @MB Lilac Your photoshoots and stories are amazing, it was a pleasure to read once again. Your Owen is a great Archbishop.

@IngieBee Thank you, I'm very happy he finally has a wig. Now to play with the dolls more to learn his best poses and angles. I've mostly had those repetitive photos but hopefully I'll have a chance to do something with him today. :)

@Lillith Samuel and Matilda look fabulous together. <3

      • x 1
    57. @Lillith I really love those hands, I wish I could get some for my Tania but she's in the original real skin :( Ah well :)

Looking forward to updates, @xaya :D

    58. @xaya Thanks!

@IngieBee I have blushed these hands quite heavily to get them to match and even with that, in some light they look a bit different. The yellowed white of her body has an almost slightly translucensy to it while the hands are solid white. The match now is close enough that you usually don't notice the difference if it's not pointed out and I often put bracelets on her as well and that helps too, catching the eye before it starts to analyze the colours.
But I'm very happy I got the new hands. I never really liked the old ones, they never seemes to fit in with the rest of her.

The original real skin had a bit of translucensy too, right? It's not impossible that you could still get it to work if you could get the colour close enough. At least good enough to photos.
