Seems I missed so much since my last visit here. I am sure I have posted in Part 5

So here we are again. Let me remind Mia, a bit updated one xD I have changed her body from original to slim type, managed to sew some clothes for it and what is very important - she's got this stunning alpaca wig by BJDArtHouse instead of that oversize one she was wearing for all that year I am plannning to sew lots for her but my sewing skills are to poor to implement all my fantasies xD But I am still trying

Oh! So I totally forgot to mention that the eyes I ordered came~ They're SO TINY XD. I think these are the smallest eyes I bought lol. They're so cute, though I'm beginning to wonder if I should get an 8mm just in case lol. I'll show pics when I get home =3 (at work right now but our servers are down so... welp~ lol)

 

Thank you @LyanneNZ and @Patrice S. It was very fast fave up, little bit sloppy. I ordered her 6mm eyes for more natural look. Right now she looks like an owl with her 8mm size eyes.

Still waiting for my Isabella. I ordered her with her dress and face up, i guess this will take a while.

 

@Duches91 Pretty girl- and I like the name, haha.

I took this picture for the latest blogpost about fabric shopping for doll clothes, and I wanted Roux in plain white underwear to make her look as undressed as possible. She didn't have any, so I made them first. I like her in underwear, even if she is apparently waiting for me to change that..

@ResinRapture I am envious of how well organized your fabric stash is. Mine is jumbled willy-nilly in an 80L tote bin.

No new sculpts by the look of it though.

 

I wish there was a more general place for me to ask this so I can get the widest opinions possible. If you know of such a thread, please point me to it!

I need help with finding a size-proportionate sculpt.

My Wang So is an alternate universe So and in my AU, he's gay. (Because no one's ever turned a canon straight character gay, amirite? :P) I need help finding a sculpt for his boyfriend. I have a RL person pic plus two doll pics for what I want the BF doll to look like.

I know who Doll1 and 2 are but they're easily bigger than my FID Bichun Wang So. Does anyone know of a doll with this same sweet sort of obviously-Korean face who would be a similar size, even a tad shorter, to match? I know SoulDoll has the Vito series Liam but he's not quiiite right, at least not in company photos. I need that face/eye shape but with a sweeter expression/look.

Any ideas?

 

@Iron_Dog Mine was just several piles in several boxes. But I used a day off and reorganized everything, and now I wonder why I didn't do it before. It would have saved a lot of time- and space.

 

@Bishounen_Hideto A lot can be achieved with paint, light mods and a talented face-up artist. You may have a more difficult time finding him a size appropriate BF due to his size as while there are more companies making this sort of in-between size, there aren't a lot of them. I can't help on the whole face thing because I'm face-blind, but I can point you at companies that make this size, more or less.

It would be tough to get just an FID head since Iple still won't sell just heads of any size but have you looked at any of the girl heads to see if it tweaks you?

SoulDoll SoulKids, despite the line name, are actually quite nice bodies and are on the larger end of the MSD scale at about 47/48cm. Their heads are also close to the size of the FID's where FID's take a 5/6 wig, the Kids take a 6/7. A couple of posts back somebody (Vermont Chick, I think) posted a comparison shot of an FID, ID51, Vito and SD Kid and they looked good together.

@morganatron I asked Iplehouse and they told me that the new FID-woman was delayed and would be ready for the next release in August. It's Harace this time.

If you want him a bit shorter, you might look at the Souldoll Kids on the NL body.

That's a great list! I toyed with Jae Jin being gay since he didn't like any of the girls until Isabel arrived. I also lusted at the very same Asian dolls but saw their sizes wouldn't work. I am having an Asian face up done right now for Isabel. We'll see how that expands the possibilities...

 

Finally got a shipping notice for Isabel (with full set)! Unless she gets on a plane in the next few hours I probably won't see her Saturday, but Monday is looking like a distinct possibility. I only wish I could have afforded to order her beast this month, but he'll have to wait until later in the year.

Do we know if there will be a new FID male in August?

@Bishounen_Hideto - I was going to suggest a Model Delf boy as being younger looking and shorter than FID. (He's about the same height as a Raccoon girl.) Unfortunately Luts doesn't have an Asian-looking sculpt unless you fake it with paint, as previously suggested. There are two head sizes among the Model Delfs--most are 6/7 but there are a few 5/6 as well. The trouble is you can't always tell which is which unless Luts tells you what wig the doll is wearing in photos.

Alternatively, you can search the Marketplace for a Lumedoll Tyl or Kwan. Both are lovely Asian male sculpts. Unfortunately, Lumedoll has moved on to another project and is no longer making dolls. Her final pre-order period was in September of last year.

@ResinRapture - I think Roux is telling you she wants all the fabrics. And oh boy, do I ever need to reorganize my fabric stash! Thanks for the reminder.​

Got a lot of clothes today. Turns out the Raccoon clothes fit my Isabel body (red short dress, grey denims, peach trench coat, although the grey leggings tend to slide down off the hips). Yay!

My tall he-meife red brocade heeled boots are a bit big and hard for standing but very beautiful in photos.

I had to take the hands off for the trench coat. Even with 2 hemastats and a hook, I managed to stab my left thumb with an s-hook. I had to be careful not to bleed on any clothes! Anyone have tips for me?

 

@Mahgiep Ouch. My thumbs bare the same scars . I have a self made hook-ring thingy for that, but before that I pulled the hand down and stuck a large safety pin between the elastics. You can pull sleeves over it but the hook doesn't go up the arm. Bit fiddly though. If I don't want to pull clothes over the arm a metal knitting needle between the elastic strings for hand and foot-changes works fine.

I hope they bring out a new dress for the girls, but I guess it will only come with the new doll. bummer.
the pink outfit for SID Horace is gorgeous, but have to admit I'm not so much a fan of the short skirt in front. dance hall girl or something.
wouldn't we all love shoes like that for FIDW. ones that really fit.

I'm already committed to two layaways elsewhere. I am so weak.

Did so few people order FID Tedros? Where's the rest of yours? He looks so boy-next-door and sweet with Iplehouse's styling and default faceup until you tilt his head down.

@Saphariel Haha! I can't not take photos of my dolls every day, with heads or without. My characters have such strong personalities, they want attention NOW! I can't imagine waiting for her head to post photos. Hat's off to those with self control. The older I get the less self control I have.

Tedros definitely has the Jekyll and Hyde thing going. Actually Bichuns also look like they have anger issues (or at least are too serious) and then that young sweetness shines through. Jae Jin is pretty innocent. Lots of lessons to learn about women, specifically Yoona, the super model. Will she devastate him? I won't let her!

 

@Saphariel - I got them from Denver Doll Emporium, they were labelled as GuessDoll SD13 Girl. They had them listed as 7cm so I took a chance and ordered them. They fit brilliantly.
