Ohhhhh... My wildest dream wardrobe ideas for FID ladies? I second the call for some classic movie inspired fashions, I think the FID girls would pull off those styles really well. Same with fantasy archer-- though I'm biased because my girl is usually a fantasy ranger, and she needs weapons. I would also LOVE to have some different regency fashions, ball gowns or horse-riding outfits... and I think there's always room for modern casual. Like, I LOVE the set that's shorts and a camisole and a mint green plaid shirt, my dream modern wardrobe for an FID girl would be a lot of things in line with that-- jeans, button-up shirts/flannels and maybe a cute cropped hoodie or something for layering over tanks/tees/sundresses, or an athleisure look for a sporty girl. I'd love to see pieces that could be put together with the modern clothes that already exist, so that outfits can be changed up a little. I would also really love to see cute lingerie sets for the FID girls-- could be a bridal trousseau look, or just something that has a cute and girly vibe. Or maybe a bathing suit and cover-up/sun hat set? I could still use a bathing suit for a little modesty under a short skirt. Both options would allow for more photo-taking that shows off more of the beautiful sculpting on the body without putting my girl in the nude-- I have a girl on the athletic body and I'm SO in love with her sculpting but I want her at least a little covered up when I take pictures. The current lingerie sets aren't quite her style (though I love them for maybe my next girl), so a little more variety there would get me excited.
Maro, I love the idea of old Hollywood fashions, maybe 40s and 50s styles. Also Regency fashions would be fun. As to everyday clothing, perhaps some items a little more high fashion, with lovely suits and gowns. And lingerie would always be welcome. Thank you so much for the opportunity to chime in with our ideas.
@maro Can the ladies have some of the beautiful uniforms like you do for some of the FID guys? I'd be all over something like that! +1 to Greco-Roman styles and maybe while I'm dreaming, we can have something like Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra...?
Finally finished Miho's new gown. She was feeling left out since she didn't have anything appropriate to wear to events at the castle. I still need to make her a new wig, and some wings for when she's a sorceress, but at least her gown is done....
Ooops, I fell off notifications and I was too busy this week or so to check, LOL Your Edan is a cutie there @JinCIncy Oh my goodness @MB Lilac , your work just gets better and better. Maybe it's just at the top skill level any human can achieve but the new style makes me mesmerized as if I'm seeing your work for the first time, LOL
@nancy_schroeder_ca - Thank you. It did turn out rather well, even though it fought me at every stage. Sometimes I just have to let an outfit decide what it wants. @IngieBee - Thanks. It was quite a struggle at times, because I'm slowly going blind, and it gets harder and harder to see what I'm doing - especially when beading. So I'm in a race against time to make the costumes I've always wanted to, before I can't any more.
@MB Lilac she is very lovely and whimsical looking. I'll have to go to your blog and see more details, such an inspiring look.
Is it myopic degeneration? Ugh, that's a bummer, but hopefully as one window closes, another will open! I sure hope so! In the mean time, everything you do is incredible! You're a true Master at your craft!
Thank you so much. I was diagnosed with macular degeneration eleven years ago, and it had been progressing slowly up until last year, but it's gotten a lot worse the past year. I also have cataracts and uncorrectable astigmatism. Once the cataracts are bad enough for surgery, I'm hoping that will help a little. I've always had a deep need to make things, and can't even imagine not being able to see anymore. So I'm concentrating on making costumes and taking doll photos as much, and as long, as I can. But there's so many things I've always wanted to make, and then it's hard to choose which to do next. I'm hoping Rococo. Although I still need to make Miho some wings, and that may send me down the 'Fairy' path again. Who knows?
Ah yes, macula, I got mixed up. I'm sorry to hear that. It's tough to adapt to something like that, but I hope it will slow down for you . Gosh that's a tough one for such a talented visual artist! Fairy options would be really cute
@MB Lilac You are Indeed, a Master of Creativity. I've been in awe of your work whenever I find it. For you to lose your eyesight would be truly tragic. Keep us posted, remember to rest those eyes sometimes, and know we are all hoping for the best for you.
@Valdemagra - Thanks. Here's hoping. I have so many things I would still like to make for my FIDs and their friends. A rose for Yvette.... (Yur & Eden)
@LilyAndRuby - Thanks. I love them together. But then I ordered Eden specially to be her beau. @IngieBee - Thank you. It was taken for 'Red Rose Day'. I had made a nice single red rose for the photo, then ended up cutting a tiny bud off of a real rose bush instead. @Kaname Kimura - Thank you. I love my dolls - esp the Fashion sized ones - and am always trying to take the nicest photos I can of them.
Just playing with wigs on my new Edan...............and seeing how he gets on with some of my other FID's. I originally bought him with thoughts he might pair well with Maeve, my NS Mari, but after putting them together I'm getting more of a brother/sister, best buddies vibe from them. @MB Lilac oh I love photographer Baron! The details on his outfit are very convincing. I could see lots of fun ways to use a photographer styled doll, I'm excited to see what you do with him
Thanks. I managed to get him into my JID Dr. Grant outfit, since it's the only contemporary outfit I had. But it's just for temporary as I shoot his new girl's back story. She's a SartoriaJ Naomi..... The two of them were in different timelines, and I decided to make him join her in hers first. I need to make her a new wig, and then she can join him in his time line. Or maybe I'll make them both go Rococo? Then she definitely needs a new wig.
I tend to make clothes a bit roomy, and Baron has the Model body, so he fit my JID's outfit just fine. The pants were a bit tight in the waist, but I did manage to do up the snaps. They were also a bit short, so he had to wear boots to hide that. However the Muscle body would not have fit at all, esp not the pants..
I got my FIDs a week or so ago, but only just got around to painting them. Here is Castor, my Lawrence. (He's had a slight eye and lip mod 'cause I can't seem to leave my dolls as I get them DERP ) first shot by Ban, on Flickr
Ooh he looks amazing!!! I love the mod and face up you've done - he looks so good, and so different from any other Lawrence I've seen! And that hair is great too! You seem to have solved the eternal struggle of trying to get boy wigs in that size that don't just puff out into a big bouffant and actually look good!
So I've only just noticed this line of Iplehouse dolls... Is there anywhere I can see what the bodies of both the males and females look like? Photos of them don't appear on the sales pages... (Apologies if it's somewhere obvious - I'm in the middle of a house move and only have half a working brain!! )
Well I decided to join the fans of Iplehouse FID. I am buying a Vincent and I already ordered clothes for him. Oh my this is going to be a lot easier on my hands. Hopefully the big kids will get used to seeing less of them and more of these.
On the Iple site, click the tab at the top for "Iple BJD" on the next page you will see a box for "Body Review" (It's a black and white image of a female body) click that and you will be brought to another page. There you can choose the size/gender body you want to look at. At the very bottom of that page you will see a comparison of all the bodies PS: you need an Iple sign-on to view these pages.
I finally finished the faceup on my Elle! This is the take two because the first attempt was just not a good painting day for me. I've been chipping away at this one for a long time so I'm just excited to have her together again. I wanted her to look older and friendlier than the company faceup.
@Glace Leau she looks perfect. I would have sworn she was real. Love the eye positioning as well. Stunning lady.
Oh wow @Glace Leau , she looks wonderful! Elle is a wonderful sculpt! A close up of Maeve, my auction Mari, I thought it showed off her freckles nicely Just Maeve by wizgerg3, on Flickr
My guy while he is light brown I worry about stains from dark clothing esp. his one outfit I ordered. Does anyone know where I can find a stain guard suit for him to wear under his clothing? I checked Iplehouse as well as Etsy.
You and me both LOL - I had to repaint my Isabel 3 times before I got her right! Your gal is LOVELY BTW - I would not have have guessed she's an Elle. You did an amazing job styling her! Now let me introduce Saira, my picky gal - and for good reason, my prior attempts to capture her were just 'fail'! LOL FID Isabel by Ban, on Flickr
@BanSidhe, Love both your Lawrence and your Isabel! A new shot of Edan and Maeve (Mari) Friends First by wizgerg3, on Flickr
I am slowly recovering from a work related burnout this Spring, and a good sign of getting better is that I got my sewing mojo back Here’s my Liv (Mari) in her new shirt, she also has a new faceup by Rakeru Sensei
@Maria Great face up! Especially how the lips are done, I really like that. That shirt looks very good on her!
I never intended facial hair, but you know how things go with BJDs... LOL Anyway, happy accidental chin scar FTW - now I need to add it to his backstory... #1 by Ban, on Flickr
