Iplehouse Fashion Doll Discussion - Part 11

May 21, 2020

    1. I don't know when I will order my FIDW if it is going to take that long for my order to arrive, sheesh I am still waiting on my Dollshe order that is over 1yr wait time, almost forgot that I ordered that too!

    2. ah! I thought you needed someone to ask FOR you lol oops lol

    3. derilan85 event that its off topic here but my fashion Diana (which i wished to put beside my FID Mari and Raccoon Nana) took 3 years to arrive and i thought about getting a big Diana as she is a great fit in with the big iples- but a friend of mine is waiting over 2 years for her now.

BTW- the new outfits are online

    4. @Hmac58 Thanks! It's a monique actually. They're my go-to for wigs. :)

    5. Lawrence's temporary new look...
I have him on a JID body because that's a better scale to go with the two old art dolls he will get photographed with.

    6. I love it. He looks just like Sam Neill from Jerassic Park. One of my favorite movies of all time.

    7. That's great, because that's who he has to pass for in my photo shoot.

Twenty years ago my sister and I made the two kids, and they are posed for the scene where they come across the nest with empty dinosaur eggs. We never did make Dr. Grant, and the two kids have been in the back of a cupboard for the past twenty years. I thought it might be interesting to sort of 'finish' the project by dressing one of my bjds as Dr. Grant and taking photos. I made dinosaur egg shells back in the beginning of March, but then the whole project came to a halt when my husband ended up in the hospital for a month. Dinosaur Eggs

I finally got back to it this week. The thing is the kid's scale required a JID size guy, but with the smaller FID head. I made the outfit this week.

Now I have to create some kind of jungle setting on my patio table for the pictures.

    8. I can't believe you made Lex and Tim, too. Your work is wonderful. Can't wait for the photo shoot with the egg shells and dolls.

    9. Those two are leftovers from when my sister and I made polymer clay dolls decades ago. They were supposed to be for a scene with Dr, Grant, who was never made, and never will be. For some unexplained reason I wanted to finish the piece, and try have one of my bjds temporarily stand in for Dr. Grant in some photos. Of course none of my three guys actually look like him, so the outfit will have to carry the scene.

    10. @Olga Borontova Very stylish! For me it has such retro vibes ... another really wonderful creation :)

    11. Ashemanu
Thank you for your wonderful words!!!! It's so nice that your point of view is supported!!!!

    12. @MB Lilac - Lawrence doesn't look bad on the JID body. The outfit is so well done--from the perfect pockets to the in-scale belt loops to the dirt on the sleeve. I can't wait to see the finished scene with the two children. (I saw them on you're blog. They're phenomenal.)

@Olga Borontova - Your girl is so pretty in pink. I love the short jacket with its delicate pattern of open stitches. The touch of white is a lovely accent.

    13. @vermont chick - Thanks. I agree, but I think it helps that with the wetting and dirtying, the clothes now look perfectly in scale so an FID head works great on a JID body. Unfortunately, the opposite is not true. My JID Owen's head looks awful on Rex's body, where he still is because I just couldn't make Lawrence's black knight body suffer the indignity of having a big out of scale head on it, even if it was just temporary.

I'm hoping to create my Jurassic Park jungle on my patio table this afternoon, and take photos when it's shady.

In the meantime, I did a 'wedding' photo shoot after trying my JID Kassia's white gown on Grace. Kassia has lent out her dress as a wedding gown a couple of times before, but never to an FID - which it fit just fine. It's so handy that my JIDs and FIDs can share clothes....

    14. Beautiful bride MBLilac, it'd funny how the FID head will work on the JID body but not the opposite. Lawrence makes a very handsome archeologist!
My Allegra went to the beach, but it proved to be a very windy day and she had to hold on to her hat, lest it blow away. [IMG]windy day by Sisen, on Flickr

    15. Wish they would have some new FIDM clothing on the website, oh well guess I stick to Etsy with Sartorial J for my male clothing needs.

    16. vermont chick
Thank you for your appreciation of my work :)

      sisen
I love your Allegra!!!! One of the most beautiful FID girls!!!

    17. That's a great photo of Allegra, @sisen. Such a summery boho vibe! :3nodding:

    18. @sisen - I find that the FID head works great on the JID body. It just makes for a little shorter guy....

    19. @MB Lilac Superb! He fits perfectly with the kids!

    20. Jurassic perfection. What a fun project, @MB Lilac. Your 'behind the scenes' is eye-opening. Those belt loops!

    21. Martha, amazing photo story , as always! Loved it!!!!

    22. @MB Lilac That´s so very very lifelike! Love it! Now you just need some kind of dinosaur :)

    23. I love all of your photos of lex, Tim and Dr. Grant. You did an awesome job on the kids.

    24. Thanks everyone. I was thrilled with the photos, and almost didn't want to change Lawrence back to his proper FID self. But I did, even though I really liked him that way.

    25. I LOVE all the Jurassic Park photos!

    26. I just got my FID model body boy, and he's perfect and gorgeous and... none of the clothes I got fit him, oof. Shirts and pants and the like I can handle sewing myself, but shoes I'm never sure what will fit. Any recommendations for black dress shoes or boots that fit these guys? I have discovered he fits the old Dale Rae SD girl heeled shoes and boots I have, so there's that.

    27. I'm not looking forward to making pants... I'm contemplating whether it would be easier to buy pants made for the muscle boy and just tailor them a little, rather than working from whole cloth. At least his shirts will be easy to make-- I might just start off by making him a nightshirt so he can be decent, before I worry about pants.

    28. Sartoriaj's pants made for the FID guys fit both. I've had the pants on both the model and muscle and it works out well. The fabric in the pants seems to have a slight bit of elasticity.

      • x 2
    29. Ooh then I know what I'm doing for pants!

    30. That's interesting! I think I have already posted the response from Sartoriaj on the earlier page here, I asked this very question - would their FID man clothes fit my FID model body. The answer I got from him was:

"All FID clothes are made to fit on muscular body so it will be big on model body especially around the waist. Unfortunately we don't have a model body so it will be hard to offer model size in the future too."

Could you show some images on FID model body when you have a moment? Oh, it would be such a relief if Sartoriaj's clothes fit both body type!

    31. @Anneko, I think you'll find that the size difference between the two body types is very small (waist difference 1cm, hip/thigh differences 1.3cm.) As I said the pair of pants I bought was made of a stretchy material and the fit on the model body is not skin tight, which it is on the muscle body. Infact, on the muscle body the fit was so tight over the calfs that the pants seemed to bunch below the calf a bit. I like them better on the model body as my model guy can sit as well. That can be an issue with jean type pants. (At the moment the pair I bought is not on the etsy site.) I picked them because they were a lighter color and might not stain the resin like the darker colors and denim can.

The Sartoriaj shirts are large on the model body, infact I think the tshirt types are also large on the muscle body. I hope you can find what you're looking for.

    32. I know Chewin (chewingallapa.com) makes a suit for model FID because I got it secondhand from someone with a muscle body who thought it would fit her doll.

    33. I ordered some things from Taobao for them and was lucky that some seamstresses were willing to work with measurements. However, they really are few and far between, and some of the stuff fits but the scale is still hilariously off because they take regular MSD heads into account (next time I should probably mention the head size too).
Which means regular T-Shirts I bought fit on the body but have HUUUUUUUGE neck openings

Anyway, I had been looking for coats and such for my guys too, but uff. Not much to have there, and if it's usually too small I fear.
Does SD10 or SD13 stuff work on the FID guys?

    34. Does anyone happen to have an FID Gentle Tedros they can share photos of? I'm interested in purchasing him and having him on layaway with my other two FIDs. Even better, does anyone have him with the company faceup? Any and all photos of this sculpt would be more than appreciated. It'll help me make my decision. I've been debating for days! Thank you in advance!

    35. I ordered jeans for Arvid FID, model body after double checking that Chewin had both muscle and model bodies. He confirmed that he had both, so, I went ahead with my order, but it was all done after we e-mailed each other a few times to confirm that we were talking about the same thing. He was very helpful and thorough, order is on it's way to me in UK now, took him only two weeks to make it. Now, just hoping TW post service wouldn't have any hiccups.

    37. You and me both! :) Jeans will be with me way before the boy, I have only ordered him three weeks ago. Iplehouse waiting time is not as depressing as Dollshe's but it is still a few months I expect. Will definitely share images when everything arrives.

    38. I have ordered mine in February, but he still hasn't shipped sadly. However, Komorebidolls on Instagram had been so kind to share pictures with me of her Gentle Tedros head, here is one of them (sadly all blank):

I don't think I have ever seen him painted before? He doesn't seem to be very popular.

I personally like the gentle version of him waaaay more than the regular one, because I always felt regular Tedros has very big eyes. Both FID and EID. Gentle makes him look more moody and smug.

      • x 6
    39. Thank you so much for getting that photo for me! I love him. And, I also like the gentle version way more than the standard. I'm going for a smug and snooty look for the character I have in mind and he was like the perfect mold for what I had imagined!

    40. Aaaa he's lovely.

I'm waiting on the regular Tedros but gentle Tedros is still high on my wishlist-- with styling, there's so much potential to get such very different looks out of the same face, and I love the half-lidded eyes on him.

    41. Lawrence, back where he belongs, with his own kids...

    42. Thank you everyone for the Gentle Tedros photos! I ended up putting one on layaway today. I can't wait!

    43. @petiteballerine - @Anneko - @Sirens4Ever - Thank you so much. :XD:

And congrats Sirens4Ever for putting one on layaway! What resin tone did you get him in?

@MB Lilac - Love Lawrence...and all those outfits are beyond amazing! Wonderful photo!

@Anneko - Regular FID Tedros is divine also...I have one of those too. :)

    45. Does anyone have Aaliyah? I think I'm going to get her!

      • x 1
    46. I ended up getting the Normal Glow skin! My other two FID dolls are Special Real Glow and Peach Gold Glow, so I wanted to have some varying tones. I’m looking to do a Light Brown next!

      • x 1
    47. That sounds most logical and a great choice! (Not that there is any 'bad' choice!):whee:
And the Light Brown is wonderful...which reminds me...I've been meaning to get a FID lady in that tone....hmmm.

    48. @skyealloway I have the FID Aaliyah (and would love more of her!)

    50. @LyanneNZ thank you! I order her yesterday in dark brown, so excited for my first Iplehouse doll!

    51. Nice to know that JIDs and FIDs can share clothes. Are they looser on one body than the other?

    52. My JID clothes fit my Model FIDs - both guys and girls - although the pant legs and sleeves are a bit short. It won't fit Muscle bodies though.

    53. So, I’m sure this has been answered somewhere.. but I’d appreciate if someone could answer this for me here: what eyes fit FIDs? I’ve ordered a few pairs of 6mm oval-shaped eyes from Dollmore. They arrived today and they’re nice and I think they’ll do the job, but I wanted brighter, more vibrant eyes if that makes any sense? I feel like most eye creators put out regular round eyes as opposed to oval; oval-shaped eyes seem limited when it comes to color variation. Do round eyes work in FIDs? And if so, what overall size and what pupil size?
