Iplehouse Fashion Doll Discussion - Part 11

May 21, 2020

    1. I just did a thing...

I ordered Lawrence and Isabel!!! I didn't want to shell Amy's guy as he is just too specific in my mind and no BJD will ever work for him aaaaaaaaaaaaand, I know their story and don't feel any motivation to photograph it so I'm going with two unknown characters from a story I know VERY little about. I'm hoping to learn about them as I go.

I opted to pay up front, as I had the $ from two doll sales, but I can't remember - will Iple send me a paypal invoice if I don't use layaway?
      Thanks <3

    2. It's been so long for me, so I don't really recall. Don't you pay at checkout?

    3. I clicked the option for Paypal, then got an order #, but nothing else...

    4. Gosh, I really can't remember, I'm so sorry @Ban Sidhe ! :doh

    5. @Ban Sidhe - Usually the site will direct you to Paypal. (There might be a button to click on...that takes you to the Paypal site.)

Since you didn't get that...you can still go to Paypal and use their PP address and write the order number in the notes when you pay...then...send them a message in the Iple Talk section and reference that order number and tell them you just paid through Paypal. :)

    6. Thank you - I did that now ;)

    7. @Ban Sidhe - Yeah! Congratulations on your new purchases! :XD:

    8. Thank You! I'm excited - already trying to figure more about the characters. Had my daughter help me with names last night LOL

    9. Dane as a vampire is pretty gorgeous! Thankfully I don't do vampires and I'm safe from this heart throb, hopefully :D

    10. Rex and Bianca at the dessert table...

    11. Yum. And the desserts look good too. ;)

    12. Oh man, so beautiful @MB Lilac and the sweets are amazing, I think I just gained 10 lbs looking at them! LOL

      • x 2
    13. Oh, they look great! And that peacock cake is beautiful, too-- love how perfect your sets and props always are, they very much exist in such a world of their own!

    14. That set up is wonderful! And I've always meant to ask, but keep forgetting... do your characters have names or do you just use the sculpt names?

    15. Lol, @MB Lilac, Rex doesn't look happy that Bianca got the larger treat. I do love your photos. The mini bakery treats are wonderful and would be the envy of any Pastry Chef.

    16. @petiteballerine - Thank you. I have made quite the collection of treats for my dolls, so it's become easy to cater a party.
@IngieBee - Thank you so much. Everything is guaranteed non-fattening
@Anneko - Thank you. I made that peacock 'cake' specially for my Monica's birthday. Something suitable for a Queen.
@Ban Sidhe - Thank you. I'm terrible at naming anything, so usually stick with the sculpt names - unless they come with a weird name like Yur, who became Yvette. I have a couple of duplicate sculpts in other sizes and then the second one needs their own name. Same with boys, whose sculpts have girl names.
@oriscany - LOL. You are right about Rex. I hadn't even noticed.

    17. LOL, @MB Lilac somehow it doesn't look non-fattening to me! LOL

    18. LOL. It's non-fattening since it's inedible.

My five guys. From left; Lawrence. Baron, SJ Jude, Eden & Rex....

    20. Your crew always look like they are having fun and living in a wonderful world, I want to come live in that world with them so badly! LOL

    21. Gorgeous photo of some very gorgeous men!! I love all of your scenes, MB Lilac, there's very inspirational.

    22. Thank you everyone.

And now for all my ladies, except Miho who doesn't have a suitable costume to join them - yet.

From the left; Raccoon Rosie, FID Yur, Raccoon Monica, FIDs Grace and Bianca.....

    23. Oh, they're all so lovely!

    24. Men's night out is a great photo. SJ Jude is just a bit taller than the other guys which is a nice change to the Iplehouse guys. I also like that I can see the resin tones of the "normal" resin with Jude's Amber Beige. They go beautifully together.

Ladies at the Pastry table and Monica showing off her beautiful Birthday cake. Monica better not brag too much because Grace looks like she could start a food fight. I love Grace! Yur looks so sweet and that resin tone really is beautiful on her.

    25. @Anneko - Thank you.
      @Kaname Kimura - Thank you
@oriscany- Thanks. My four FID guys are all Special Real skin, not 'Normal'. Jude's Amber Beige has a definite yellow cast to it, as opposed to the Iple SR which is way more 'pink'.

    26. MB Lilac, what a feast for the eyes these GORGEOUS pictures are! Like IngieBee said, I so want to join their party too! (and to wear one of your beautiful outfits!).

    27. Thank you so much. I'm really inspired by these beautiful dolls, and they do photograph so well.

    28. Even in the Special Real resin there is a slight variation when photographed. Unless some of the guys are the "glow" resin. Anyway, they are all really gorgeous and look very natural together.

I also love how all your outfits are very distinct one from another. The guys on the left of Jude look to be dressed as knights and seem more mature. The ones to the right look as if to be pages..... (even in the facial hair on the knights.) Beautiful.

    29. Even though all four FID guys are Special Real skin, my Eden arrived with a sheen, so he always looks like he's hot and sweaty. I contacted Iplehouse about it when he first arrived, but they just brushed me off like usual.

There's three guys in similar costumes, just different colours - inspired by Boromir in LOTR: Lawrence, in black, is the King, while Rex and Baron (whose outfit is the most like Boromir's) are his knights. Eden is one of the lady's boyfriends, and his outfit was inspired by Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. Jude's outfit was inspired by Mel Gibson's in the Braveheart movie poster. I'm not aiming for any particular period, just a Fantasy 'historical' look.

    30. Amazing work @MB Lilac.
Did you happen to see the Prince Philip's funeral? St.George"s Chapel was gorgeous with all the banners. The whole thing was beautifully done and I kept thinking of your castle with the banners. The tunic worn by the man who read Prince Philip's "Styles and Titles" was stunning.
Anyway, your photos should be in a book.

    31. Your pics make me so happy *sigh* this is so beautiful! I am completely obsessed with miniature food so I love that they are all having a historical get together with some treats. I don't stop by the forum that often anymore due to being back at work, but when I do, its such a treat to see collection pics like this!

      • x 1
    32. @oriscany - Thanks. No, I didn't see the funeral.
@Lelm - Thanks. I'm glad you enjoy my photos. I really enjoyed making all the miniature food, mostly for other projects. The nice thing is that it lasts forever so gets used over and over, in both contemporary scenes as well as the Fantasy ones. I never worry about anything being 'historically correct' since my dolls live in a Fantasy world, so anything goes.

    33. Since I had everyone out for Monica's party, I thought I'd take a photo of everyone....

    34. There are never enough words to describe the delight your portraits bring. They are always a feast for the eyes!
If the shine on your guy remains a problem, spray him with a light coat of MSC matte. Just remove the eyes and wig, then protect his eyelashes with some painters tape.
I never see the shine in your pictures.

      • x 1
    35. Thanks. I don't trust myself to spray him myself. I have a really hard hand with spray - plus I ran out of sealer - so am going to wait until the pandemic is under control enough that my friend can do it. Quite a few of my dolls will need body blushing and manicures at the same time.

    37. @MB Lilac - you are an inspiration. I have three Battat horses I'm trying to repaint, and it's more difficult than I expected! (Link because I'm on my phone)

      WIP Battat 1

Question for all Iplehouse doll owners - what do you do with those goofy hand rings? Every time I set Mari up for a picture, I have to fiddle with the hand rings to get them to stay in place. Is there a sueding option you'd recommend?

    38. I put my girl's wrist crescent pieces away in my hand box. I don't feel like they improve the look of the hands nearly enough to justify worrying about them. I know some people put clear rubber bands around the wrist though.

      • x 2
    39. The wrist crescent THAT I FOUND (after they both popped off) is back on my girl's wrist, but I like the idea of keeping them in the box. I wanted a couple of other things from IP so I added 10 crescents to the shopping list ('cause I'm a klutz).

    40. @MaleficentMrsofEvil Have you tried to turn the hooks? The open part of the S-bow that goes through the hands needs to point inwards, basically a mirrored S.

    41. There is NO WAY I can compete with the marvelous outfits and professional photography that I see here, but (luckily) I'm not competing. I'm just enjoying my dolls. I have a stack of doll clothes patterns that I've hoarded for about 40 years now. Here is my FID Vanessa wearing a dress made using one of my 1958 patterns as the base. 42. @ResinRapture uh - do you have a picture or something? I am aware that there are S hooks, but I have no idea how to thread the hand rings through them.

@Violet Kidd - I know you aren't talking about my pictures, because I am an atrocious photographer. Your Vanessa is gorgeous! And I'm itching to bust out my sewing machine, so I can make clothes for Mari. I like to jump from project to project, but I need to finish the, um... 3 that I've already started!

    43. I know what you mean. I have a pair of jeans that have been sitting so long I've lost pieces. What I sew is a lot less complex than most people. I just can't see that well anymore.

Can anyone recommend a really good (but not too hard) bra pattern?

    44. That dress looks gorgeous!!! I'd love to see a full shot of it to see the rest! I do love 50s style!

I haven't tried it myself but this lingerie pattern you could probably make into a bra pattern without too much trouble by just not making the bottom half! Bewitching Lingerie Pattern for 45.5cm Iplehouse FID dolls | Etsy

    47. @Violet Kidd I love the dress! The pattern is perfect scale. The finishes are so nice too!
