Yes agree, they should not have got rid of Ashanti. She was divine. She was my grail and luckily I was fresh back at work from maternity leave so just managed to scrape it together to get her. When I've add my pics to Flickr I'll post some here. Hopefully they don't get rid of Asa as well!
Miho in the FID range is nice too, but that's for another thread! ; ) Aaliyah DC is tempting I'll admit but not part of my dolly plans. its so inconvenient how you can't layaway dark brown or ebony resin, they're so costly yet my fave colours!
After going bananas and laying away three big girls end of last year I'm not buying anymore dolls for at least another year!!!

 

I did get my Alayaha in dark brown on layaway, so maybe that rule is gone? I actually didn't hear that before!

That was my new year's resolution, LOL

I did buy a couple of heads now, and I'm thinking of getting a body for an event head ordered last year so basically I'm already cheating! LOL

Just want to ask you about shoes. Where do you usually buy shoes for your EID\SID girls (except Iplehouse website)? My Dollmore Model doll shoes are too small and narrow for EID. =\

 

My SID girl has on a pair of black ankle boots that were made for SD boys :d I've a lot of dolls & a ton of shoes - so I generally try on shoes to see what fits. Dollmore & Impldoll shoes do fit SID girls (don't know about EID). Also I've a pair of Soom Supergem sandals that fit all my girls w/big feet (IH SID, Dollmore Model, Impldoll Star)

I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to. I've seen quite a few people put a female EID head on a female SID body, but would a female SID head work on a female EID body? I purchased an EID body and am having difficulty finding any heads I like to fit. :/

 

I have found the female EID and SID heads to be interchangeable without modification.

I do think that some of the smaller heads (original Luna, Asa) look better on SID than EID, but they were originally released as EID -- it's more of a personal aesthetic choice.

Do you have any particular sculpts in mind? I have quite a few EID and SID girls -- here's a link to my Flickr doll gallery: Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls

I could probably do a head swap if there was a specific combination you wanted to see.

 

I'd love to see Stella on an EID body if you're able, thank you! Also is your Carina originally from a SID body?

 

My Carina is the original non-limited (not Noctarcana Circus) EID release, so that's the body she came with. Carina is a larger head and works really well on the EID body!

I don't have another RS girl aside from my Stella, so it won't be a resin match, but I can swap them out and take some pics for you

 

Verdict: Surprisingly, not bad!

Carina has a wider jaw, and I wasn't sure how the narrower Stella face would look on the broader EID shoulders, but the head/neck fit fine (as noted, they're all interchangeable without modification, the EID neck isn't noticeably thicker at the top), and I don't think she looks terribly disproportionate.

Putting on a wig with more volume would also make the head look visually larger (as seen in the last pic -- that black braided wig fits very close to the head.)

Thanks so much! The wig I have for this character is actually pretty thick so I'm feeling much better about this "hybrid" option. I have an incoming EiD body and was worried about finding a head since SiD heads seem to pop up more often on the market. This will make things much easier! >u<

Is there anyone else expecting an Sid boy? I’ve just ordered edan and he’s due mid March, do you have any suggestions on clothes and shoes to fit Sid boys? There isn’t many I could find....

 

@dollfan - I was told that SartoriaJ pants that fit Granado will also fit SID men. I have a pair on order...but haven't received them yet so I can't completely verify the fit.

And about 'bonding' with your doll right out of the box...I wouldn't put that pressure on yourself, rather when I open up a doll...I find it a wonderful challenge to 'find' their look...with the right eyes and wigs....Sometimes it takes various combinations to really 'click' and know what their look should be. I must say Sid man shoes selection from Iplehouse are not that great are they..... clothings also hard to find especially for muscle type

@dollfan Alice's collections has a bunch of clothes you can custom order:
Custom Size : BJD - Alice's Collections - BJD Dolls, BJD Accessories here you'll find the ones that can be ordered to size. The more measurements you can give them, in my opinion, the better. Don't forget shoulder width, and specify, is that to the farthest outer edge of shoulders? to the ball socket (not helpful) but tell them exactly where you're measuring, and draw a picture if possible. Inner leg length, arm length (outer inner) etc...

Second hand market is so helpfull, she arrived to UK from Sweden, had long trip and was all thought Europe. Meet SID Grace on normal skin, last owners face up. She is amazing. Love her. Now she is in North East Scotland, and I called her Bella.

Okay, I have a few questions.

Twyla is a 2010 Noctarcana Circus Luna Tamer EID girl. She is 65cm, according to her original stats that I found online...somewhere. I just measured her in her heeled feet and she is 67cm.

But the newer dolls are all listed as 62.5cm tall. I'm not sure if that's in heeled feet or not, tbh.

So, did Iplehouse make the newer EID girl bodies shorter? If they are shorter, is that in heeled feet or flat feet? If so, what are the measurements for the new EID girls vs the older EID girls?

Bonus points for anyone that has both the older and newer EID girls, and doesn't mind doing a few size comparison shots in both heeled and flat feet.

Mind you, this is just to satisfy my curiosity as to "did IH shrink their EID girl, or am I going crazy in thinking that Twyla is taller than the newer girls?"

@IngieBee just looked on the site and yes, it showing that eid woman is 65.5cm tall. so I think so she is 65 cm when on heel feet.

 

I just got my first EID this week. It's an old Jessica and she is so beautiful.
But she's arrived very loose so I tried to restring her today. There are still some issues so I am not sure if I need to tighten her string some more. One she can't sit and two her feet can't seem to stay in place they tend to point weird directions. It looks like she broke her ankle. Do you know whether this is just the result of a bad restringing job? Or is the EID body in general bad with sitting poses?

 

Honestly, I think that the older bodies seem to be pretty bad at posing, but then again, maybe its me. I would try tightening her string first. Twyla's feet do seem to point in weird directions sometimes, unless I put them in the groove of her ankles and turn the mobility joints in her thighs. She sits okay, but her hips and legs don't always meet when she does. They kind of pull out a little, or sometimes need to be pulled out to get her to sit right.

@IngieBee, it says "62.5cm" under Asa's description, which is why I'm confused.

I wish I could remember where I saw that she is 65cm at, it was probably on her original Luna Tamer page, but the information is gone now. I took size and length notes when I got her back in 2014 so I could get clothes that fit her, so that's another reason why I know she's 65cm tall.

Do you mind linking me to where it says that, @Anita2006? I've searched and can't seem to find it.

Thank you for the advise. I've restrung her now and I might have strung her too tightly now. But it's way better than before. She can kinda sit now but only when I use her hands as support.


Currently I do not trust her to stand without support at all though.


Regardless she is absolutely beautiful and I am super inspired to sew lots of things for her. I've already cut out a basic white top that I plan to sew together tomorrow. And I definitely need to get her a proper wig and shoes.

 

@laquaza she looks beutiful, i have sid old body Grace and don't have any issues with passing. she can sit properly and stand as a rock, but I'm waiting now two new dolls from iplehouse and one of them is EID bibiane and hope so I will not get any issues as well.
Yours doll is beautiful. Clothes fits her perfectly.

 

As far as the older bodies go, I only have the JIDs and those seemed solid as a rock. my worst standing doll is the Supia 60dj but I'll still get her to stand...eventually, LOL. With all my dolls, though, I have to make sure their legs are properly lined up and that gets really hard when they wear pants :P

Maybe I am just really bad at restringing. It's also possible. Fingers crosses your's will be a good poser. But I think the new EID body might be better than the old one.
And thank you very much. I am just glad they actually fit her. I made them before she's arrived. That's also the main reason I chose a gathered style around the bust. Then it doesn't have to sit perfectly.

it really is! I have EID, HID, SID and nYID girls on the new body, and I actually quite like their poseability--the old EID man body that I have on the other hand, stringing him was an experience, and it barely stopped his butt from perpetual dislocation. my goal is to make him an okay poser (through kind of extreme modding). The old EID girl I've handles was better than him, but the new bodies have definitely fixed some issues!

 

Oh yah, I forgot, on my old JIDs and I know it was the same for the EIDs is that the peanuts would not dislodge and it would be a royal pain to use the double joints! Someone did a mod involving watchband pins and I bought some, but never used them, as I got too scared, ROFL, I really should do it now, I've become so much more brave lately

 

Not a problem, happy to help! I'm wondering if you are right, that she may be too tight. Twyla sits fine, even with me having to sometimes pull her legs out away from her butt sometimes.

You're correct, your Jessica is "absolutely beautiful!" Congrats again! Does she have a name yet?

@IngieBee, I was told to take the inside arm parts out to improve arm movements, and I've not had much trouble since. I'm curious about the watchband pin method you're talking about, what is it supposed to do?

I just finished a cape for the Kids, but it fits all sizes. On Solovet it's a Brianna style cape.

I will restring her again next week. Fingers crossed it will all work out. And I am tempted to take the inner armparts out as well. It took me a while to realize she's technically double jointed .
