Iplehouse EID and SID Discussion Part 16

Double-posting this, since I posted after animerockstar closed the previous thread (thanks for starting a new one, btw!)

Both Ringos are now showing as sold out - but my order has vanished! On my order page, it was showing the word "CANCEL" next to 2 orders, including my Ringo one. Now they are both completely missing! I guess that means my order wasn't valid....but we'll see what Iple says on Q&A. There's nothing I can do about it now.

What head did you get, Raven?

 

Same thing happened here, my shipping cost was $0 and I clicked ems shipping zone 2. The page was loading sooooo sloowwwly though.

My order shows payment payment completed preparing to deliverer. I asked them to ship the head together with my Scarlet order which they have not
shipped yet.

I got no.21 : Edan normal new $130.

 

I didn't get one this time. Was thinking about snatching a lisa but I don't really have plans for her... and the only other ones I wanted were kassia and Leonard... but I can get kassia later since I want her with a faceup... and leonard was gone by the time I remembered about the sale. Lol. But not too bummed... plan on getting him later if they put him in DC. I really wanted a douglas scar head... but there wasn't one this time around... missed it on the last one

to close.... click the report icon on the last post and instead a message reporting a bad post just request to have it closed ... say that the thread is at 1000+ posts and the new thread has been made and linked.... make sure you make the new thread an link it before reporting it ;p
and in case of deleting a post just say I made and error or 'the poster requests the post be deleted'

ppl are afraid to 'report' since it seems bad... it just flags a post that needs attention. And I've requested the thread closure already (and re-posted the link to the last post just to be safe)

 

I have to admit I completely miscalculated when the event started so I was slightly asleep when the event took place... ops

I still wish Iple would let us order any head we wanted as the event since the head events are so very limited. However it is nice of them to release some heads even if it's disappointing to miss that one head one might be looking for. I still regret not getting an extra NS Chase head that was available a year or so ago since it was available and I thought about it a bit too long and then there was no head to purchase anymore.

Let's hope that there will some day be a "choose any head you want and we'll make it for you" event

EDIT: Hmmm the Carved Heritage dolls are not on the website anymore. Or at least I can't find them. I suppose that's probably because of the upcoming event to buy them. Ack... I wish I could win the lottery in the next few days I do wish I could buy Leonard but I think it would be irresponsible of me to do so right now so unless something changes a lot in the next few weeks I will have to wait and meanwhile enjoy seeing owner pictures of him

 

me not getting a head just means I don't have to trim my clothing order lol. But I really was not too keen on the only head that would work with my spare body anyhow ;p.

 

Congratulations on not having to cut down on the clothes order Lady Tiku I don't remember if you sad what you were planning to order previously but I hope you can get al the clothes you want and that they are all in stock.


I was thinking a bit further about Leonard. I have done a layaway once before and I really should remember how this works but I have honestly forgotten. The layaway page states that one payment first meds to be done and the layaway can be 3 months. How does this work? Do I pay a deposit, and after that I have 3 more months to pay? or does the deposit count as the first month's payment so that there are two months left to complete the layaway afterwards?

 

if you choose the four payment option, then the first of the four payments is due upon ordering. The remaining three payments are due within 30, 60, and 90 days after that. I love that they offer that option: I've done four layaways now and it works great for me!

 

I wonder how can we know if the order is valid?

I guess I got the D.Akando. Everything went very smooth until payment....
But I notice that the shipping is also 0 just like princesspink .... so apparently I only pay for the head.
A few minutes later I get email from Iple about the order, but it keeps saying "before payment"
Is my order valid or not... I wonder?

Last time I was so heartbroken because I didn't even know that there's a head event until the next day!!

And it is true. I am on time for the order but the Leonard and Rex, and some of the girls' heads are already gone by the time I order the D.Akando.
I guess the demand is quite high for Leo and Rex.. welllllll they're both hot~

(But since Iple knows they'll get more money if we don't have any other options beside buying a full doll... The chance will be little... T_T)

Congrats to everyone here that snagged a head!! The only one I was really interested in was Bianca but when I read her head cap was a different color...I kind of lost interest.

 

It was me, who got a Leonard, I guess.... I hope to find a body for him in next Carved Heritage event, than wig, some clothes, shoes. So one male doll is all my plans for the 2015 year!!

Yeah, I know how that goes about buying a whole doll just for the head. I'm really fond of the old body type and was fortunate enough to find one on the marketplace after the surprise "not going to sell the old style of dolls anymore" thing that happened a few years ago. And for the longest time I had this poor EID girl with no head until I finally gave up on finding the right head and just purchased a whole doll from Iple to get the head. Most expensive doll head ever I imagine

And of course I was back to square one after that since when the head was put on the old body the new body was without a head. I ended up doing a hybrid for that body with a head from another company which is almost completed now. But still. It would have been nice to be able to buy just the head

On a completely different note I was quite surprised at how well the old EID woman body can sit. My EID guys with the old body all have issues sitting down which has made me wonder if the new body for the EID man can sit better. Of course it would be insanely expensive to switch parts on 3 whole EID dolls. Because I would like them to be able to sit properly which has somethign to do with the design of the hip joint, but at the same time I would like the old type of joints (at least on the arms, but preferably on the legs too).

I'd really prefer to see them merged -- keeping up with three separate discussion threads and two photo-spam threads for "large dolls with interchangeable parts from a single company" gets kind of ridiculous.

I think the wisest thing to do would be closing the nYID thread and this one (EID/SID) and just having one thread for all three (nYID/EID/SID) + the photo spam thread for all three as well. That way all who have bigger IH dolls could talk in one thread, it'd be the easiest to find all the info and there would not be the same images cross-posted on every single discussion thread.

 

Yeah... I think having just the one thread for all SD sized iplehouse is good enough. And one photo spam thread for all as well. Because nyid, sid and eid girl heads are compatible. It would be ridiculous to post in all 4 threads (2 x discussion, 2 x photo spam) just to share something.

 

Hopefully a mod will merge the threads, it would make it easier.

And yes to merging threads! One-stop shop for sources, more room for discussion, and less inconvenience for most of us (this is my personal opinion, though) who collect across all the big sizes.

If you know everything to go on the order for him...to have a crack at the outfit you should literally order the moment they open the sale up... (you are competing for 10 world wide..) Treat it like a head event. Get the page filled out (option choices) and then right on the dot.... hit 'buy'

... no I meant the 'entire' order... dollar exchange rate for me is getting too close to 20 cents on every dollar... you get a 10$ item I pay 12... and so on... Im ordering Leonard in RS with shortsword brushed x2 & guns x2 brushed... tally that up and add minimum 17% to that (and that's before shipping)... I don't even blink at shipping anymore $1355 USD means I pay $1684 CAD and that is before the shipping costs or if I add anything else.

I asked Iple about the DC and was told Leonard will be available there after this event. That is a good thing. I have looked at things and with the current exchange rate there is no way for me to place an order even with layaway (the prize for just the doll with no outfits, extras or shipping would equal more than half a months salary right now). And the exchange rate is even higher today so buying a doll now sadly isn't an option. Speaking of exchange rates: I seriously regret not purchasing the underwear set I want for my Annika (Luna) along with the extra string and S hooks for my boys before Christmas since things were still ok with the rates back then...

But hey, let's be positive about this . At least the pretty, pretty doll will be available later on as well so that makes me feel that I can be patient and take the time to save properly. That and I imagine it's not completely impossible to find the right kind of string for my boys in some stores.

Sooner or later things might work out again and I honestly do keep my fingers crossed for "basic Leonard" eventually Or "Christmas event 2015 with DC at basic prices". That or the more unlikely "Yay I won the lottery!"

Anyway, for those of you who will buy the dolls during this event. Please share lots of pitures of them when they arrive!

 

The exchange rates are really horrible right now, I am glad I bought Lawrence in September, when it was quite normal, I counted that if I bought him now I would have to pay for the doll extra 2618 CZK (= 104 USD now, with old exchange rate it would be equal to 117 USD).

 

Yep ... that's why I'll have to pass up Edan. AGAIN. I'm darn glad I paid Yur off when I did! I have one more doll purchase coming up that I hope I'll be able to swing, after that it's either a doll-buying hiatus or heads only ... which implies a temporary good-bye to Iplehouse either way.

 

My Leonard is looking forward to see more of his sculpt in future posts! I'm glad many will get the opportunity to have him as well as the other CH sculpts thanks to the event; I ordered mine on the last day of his original sale after realising I simply could not resist.

boudica, I know how you feel! I used to work for an Aussie company that struggled with client retention due to the falling Australian dollar.

 

boudica: I am very happy to hear you were able to get Lawrence before! Let's hope things go back to normal so it will once again be possible to purchase the dolls without spending so much more extra money.

Jany: I'm so sorry to hear that I hope you will be able to get Edan later on and that the exchange rate goes back to being more favourable. I know the feeling! I had a layaway from an event going on around Christmas. For some reason I decided to pay the layaway a lot faster than I had intended. At the time I felt crazy for doing that but now when looking back I am so grateful I managed to pay all the payments when I did.

I'm going to focus on getting the makeup and wigs done for my dolls. And meanwhile save so when the exchange rates hopefully go down again I will be able to buy Leonard (and the underwear if it is still available).

Since the topic of merging threads has come up again:

DoA allows multiple discussion threads for companies. Some members prefer smaller threads with focused information on a narrow topic. Some people only want to hang out in one thread in the entire forum and want that thread to be everything. Some people want to spam up every available thread because they love to share and they love having more threads. All of these people are DoA members and a more relaxed approach to thread organization allows members to interact in the way they feel most comfortable. Hundreds of members read these threads, so please do not assume that they are all here for the same reasons.

Some people believe that all Iple heads are interchangeable, some people do not. Some people only care about pretty head shots, while others don't want to see hybrids. Some people want threads about clothing fit for a specific body type and don't want to wade through 800 posts to find that information. Every member is allowed to start a thread. If it is quantifiably different from an existing thread, it is allowed to remain separate. You may choose to make a thread more or less relevant by participating in it or not.

If you believe that the mega Iple thread that contains all sizes is the best place to be, then only post in that thread. If all of the myriad threads about Iple dolls is too much to keep up with, then pick the one you like best and don't cross post; unsubscribe from the others. If you have no interest in the other sizes and only want to talk about nYID, there's a thread for you too! If you don't care for nYID and only own the bigger sizes, you have a place to stay.

I was looking forward that head even in hopes that they would have the Demon Claude head in Grey, but they just had in normal skin so I had to pass this time. I wish Iplehouse offered the option to buy heads separately, even as a like, once a year event kind of thing. I can understand that selling full dolls is more profitable for them, but I just want an head DX

 

I've never understood how the economics of the "full doll vs. head" worked out--there is a lot of labor in a full body, it seems to me the profit margin on heads would be greater than on bodies. Also a steady supply of genuine heads might choke off the recasters somewhat. And I don't know about anyone else, but once I get the head the damn thing starts pestering for it's proper body almost right away. Pesky things!

it's not just profit margins... it's the mechanics of how the mix and pour the resins ... they mix amounts to make full dolls and they pour into molds in full doll sets... It's the casting process that is the bigger issue... Think if it as muffin tins that have the parts for a whole doll... would you put 10 muffin tins in a oven if only one or two spots were filled in each tin?... obviously not.... They way I have understood various comments by IH THAT is the bigger reason.

 

They also cast heads and bodies at the same time for resin matching purposes... I dont think they like to sell products that are less than perfect... unless of course it is through the auctions where they clearly state all of the issues and expect less of a profit. So casting bodies/heads then having left over resin that just gets wasted is not very good either... you cant just mix another batch into the first one because if the pigment ratio is just slightly different, it can throw the whole batch off.

 

I just put Pamela on Layaway too! YAY! Also... when I went to figure out the shipping bumps, the black pair of shoes was sold out RIGHT after I submitted the order! I got dang lucky!

lol wow you are fast lol... and grats! you deserve it! I finally figured out what to do to protect the 'white' uniform pants from the 'black' boots (now Dex just crackles when he moves ... tissue paper!)... If I am lucky I can do a few shot of him in the preview outfit WITH boots ... they looks slick btw ^^...

As for my Leo... I am waiting as long as I can to order since I will have to start paying back my uncle the money he loaned me soon...

finally someone with the words I couldn't get to make sense.... this is my 'cake batter' explanation since i couldn't think in the other terms... lol

That's when I got my confirmation email too! Lol. I had everything set in the boxes and as soon as she was available I threw her in my cart, put in the address info for shipping and submitted the order! Took me less than a minute XD

Edit: and right after I sent the first layaway payment my internet died.... I'm on here on my phone now. Lol.

omg... I did the same thing! Although I had my other stuff in the cart for about a half hour to an hour before the sale started XD I'd been practicing all week/weekend to make sure I did it right... especially because I knew I was going to start shaking/have a mini panic attack like I almost did during the head sale for Douglas when i missed him... and sure enough right on cue I was shaking so bad I could barely see straight! I kept having to stop myself from double checking things since I KNEW it was correct since it had all been filled out since well before the sale started XD Plus I typed up the shipping address (my Gran's) in a note pad so I could copy paste it this time. There was no way I was missing out on that dress for you!

 

I see nothing the least bit wrong with your methods! (I'd be the same lol) Even the E-net cord... especially that for me ><. And not insane .... giddy with happiness ^^ (after all are crazy ppl not usually thought of as happy?)

And ya I got 2 outfits and 3 sets of weapons lol... I've been laying in stores for future dolls actually. When you get to 'Mad Jack's story' the scene on the beach has many of my major characters I want to do. Edan = Dash ^^ I'd loved to have been able to snag an Edan head to do up as his 40 yr old self ;p ... "Something About Emmaline" started a bit of a dreamers avalanche with me lol.
