Iplehouse EID and SID Discussion Part 15

Aug 9, 2014

1. it IS the old type resin but I can't say about the yellowing/greening... my one 'old' RS body was made during the renewal period when they modified the bodies which was at least 2 years after yours. But it will be the 'translucent type ^^ which IS nice. (I don't mind either but the translucent is prettier ;p)

And depending on the lighting it could definitely give a yellow cast to a doll ... I have to 'color fix' my pictures to make them look the same as the dolls irl.

THIS is an unfixed pic of NS if you go to my stream you can see the 'fixed' version beside it. that's more like what she should look like.

that is a good example of how my living room light makes a doll 'yellow'. Best way to check the doll is pop outside in broad daylight to check... natural light.

2. The two I had problems with were made in December 2010 and January 2011, which is the old RS. I only noticed the difference in my BIDs when I changed their outfits--they were noticeably darker under their clothes. If your doll's exterior is the same color as the inside of the head, it hasn't changed color. To be on the safe side, keep your doll out of the light--indirect as well as direct--when you are not playing with it. On the other hand, not everyone experiences this problem, so it could simply be that mine came from a bad batch of resin.

3. Thank you, Vermont Chick and Lady Tiku! I took a better look at my doll in natural light and compared his coloring to the inside of his head. It does appear to be just a smidge of a shade lighter (which I suppose can be expected of a doll made over 3 years ago). It is not something I can't live with, so I suppose he'll be staying with me here. He is in such minty condition that it would have been a shame to have to return him: besides, I think I unconsciously didn't want to!

4. So I haven't seen anybody anywhere mention this but, it seems that Theo is back?
i can't Quite tell if they've changed him much but it feels like they did. They toughened him up, squared him out a bit maybe?
I was so excited at first but now I'm uncertain. I need a body and I need a Theo head but he's gotta be soft featured....

5. Theo looks really good now with different makeup, but I am still trying to figure out what tweaking they did to his face?

6. They changed his eyes.... they are a bit wider now and I think his brow might have been tweaked by his eyes a smidge. Looks like they made his nose and cheekbones a little sharper and perhaps edged out his jaw a tad. Overall very minimal changes.

7. *sigh* thought so. I Loved him before but waffled too long cuz than I didn't need the body. I loved his soft angelic face. Meefle, so much excitement to so much disappointment.

8. Ah okay I see it now, if only I had won the lottery I would have gotten Bane as well. At least if anyone did get Bane I will admire from afar( goes to weep in corner)

9. The changes to the new Theo are subtle. The sculptor seems to have fleshed out Theo's features a bit so he looks more realistic than before. I think he looks soft and young. If he were on an nYID body I would be seriously tempted to get him.

10. really dumb question.... where do I inquire/request to get a commission done. (me asking for other to make)... I thought it had it's own area in the marketplace... O_o

11. Love how you photo-shopped his joints out...and look at those abs! Great pic!

12. I like Theo's new look!

I also like the fact Vincent has gone basic. ;) Both is exceedingly good news for my #1 plan: Find sculpts for them and bring the boys home! :)

13. You need to start your own thread in whichever section it belongs in. a bit like a W.T.B but instead you use the W.T.C tag. ;)

14. I'm still seeing a section under Forum Marketplace, Customizing Services...here.

15. The Handcrafted Goods subforum has a "WTC" prefix to use in your Want to Commission post as well.

16. Exactly what Christie said. Unless it's a faceup then go to the link luluna gave and search faceup artists. But if you need an outfit or something done post under Handmade Clothing or Wigs or Shoes and make your post WTC instead of FS or WTB

17. okay I found the Handcrafted section but not anyone that seemed to cater to what I want ;p
But I hadn't realized there was a WTC prefix in the selling(?) areas... at least my brain never picked it out. I am wanting Men's and boy's (technically all sizes) breaches both formal court and those lovely 'buckskin' ones for daily wear. And Skeleton suits for the younger ones. I'll also need britches for my zenith too. Ya the pirate coats went a long way but I need some 'courtly' items... mostly butt cover now lol... The buckskins are my 'really' wants, you know skin tight bottoms on IH bottoms ^^. I see something 'stretchy' in the boys futures... And I'm easy to please... I don't need 'authentic'... I'm a theater person. If it looks right but all the fasteners are Velcro or snaps... who cares ;p

I actually tried to get Freedom Teller to do it since they have the 'sailor' front button pants already... all they'd need to do is alter the pant leg... sadly they do not purely commission work. :(

I had planned to ask for all sizes at once but now I might just work on one at a time in the related thread ^^

18. Hi there! ::waves:: Just thought I'd pop in to introduce my iplehouse hybrid boy, Charlie. He's a louis, on an fdoll body.

19. Quick pic of this little punk showing off his arms and tats

20. Lady Tiku,

Have you thought about leggins?
You can get some amazing Lycra, even wet look or velvet.
I keep meaning to try but .....

Once the builders and plumbers have finished I AM going to get some fabric and draft a simple pattern!

21. Today I have gotten a bit of a workout by restringing two of my EIDs (pheew!)

I finally got around to finish removing the seams from them and thought it would be more fun to assemble them again to at least be able to try their clothes and such even if they still sadly lack any kind of makeup.

I know I have probably mentioned it a couple of times before but I purchased a pair of the EID man cargo pants that are supposed to be a loose fit on a EID model body. And I can not for the life of me get them around the waist of the guys. So just for fun I thought I would show you all the doll they do fit.

The girl modelling in the photo has borrowed her older brothers shirt (due to not having a proper one of her own yet...). The shirt resembles a tent when she's wearing it of course, but look at the pants. They are a little long but are they supposed to be that well fitting on a girl doll when they are made to be loose fitting on a EID model man? ;) I really don't understand what happened to the size of the pants but hey, it doesn't bother me since they at least fit one of my dolls ;) I think these pants are amazing and would love to get another pair that hopefully fit the boys too :)

22. leggings would be fine for the lower leg but I'm not sure they would look right around the hip and bum area... They'd end up looking like they were dressed as ballet dances I think O_o. And the waistcoats would not always hide that (some would be too short). One bit of 'authenticity' I won't go for is the saggy bum thing though which I am seeing more and more when I look at actual period clothing lol. I'd also kill for find similar brocade fabrics to better match the coats I have (or silk looking). I DO need legging tights for the boys though for the 'stockings'. I don't want to fuss with fall down socks under the britches (I keep wanting to order from swdoll but other stuff [Iplehouse ><] keeps getting in the way lol. Do you have any other suggestions for legging/tights for the EID/SID boys? (remember I don't sew)

23. Lady Tiku, maybe you should look through this thread. Additionally, the "saggy" bum in period clothes was so people could move, sit and stand comfortably without being cut in half and "falling" out of their clothes. :sweat It's much more practical than most modern clothing -- take it from a historical performer.

24. It's amazing how much stretch fabric changed fashion! I'm so thankful for stretch fabrics every day, rofl.

25. Actually stretch fabric didn't change anything -- it was the shift from tailored clothes to ready-made, or what we call 'off the rack'. As 'off the rack' grew in popularity, the demand for tailored declined. But that's off-topic, so I won't go any further into it. :)

In an attempt to stay on-topic, here's my (admittedly hybrid) EID, Locke. She's a oYID Mars head on an EID body and is by far one of my most popular dolls locally.

26. Never knew that! How interesting, and it makes perfect sense. And what a lovely doll. It's always interesting to see Iple's old sculpts and see how their style has changed (and how it's stayed the same).

Unrelated, but on-topic: Has anyone tried the SID girl hunter set and/or the SID sleeping beauty set on an nYID girl? I have some SID stuff that works just fine on my nYID girl, but I'm hesitant to buy either of those big sets without knowing it's at least a salvageable fit.

27.
28. I'm done my stella's face up+body blushing.
sorry about the wounds and bloody

29. Oh my freaking word :o

Stunning work LightLimner. So creepy yet beautiful at the same time. Love it! :aheartbea

30. LightLimner: Wow that's really cool faceup and blood mess! It's always great to see such different looking strong Iple dolls (especially girls), love how badass she looks :D post more!

sorry for Rony's finger and Shagrilah's boobs.. :sweat

31. Wow
I love your girls! So cool! Awesome!
Especially in the middle! Her style just wow.

32. I love the jointed hands Adalwolf. I've considered getting some but for the life of me can't think of how to get a resin skin tone match! Still the styles of your's are gorgeous :D

33. Oh I love your Stella LightLimner! She's gorgeous! And Adalwolf that is an awesome pic of your beautiful ladies! I LOVE their wigs!

34. Hehe, electric Nuit! Thanks, everyone -- for both the lovely comments and the suggestions!

I have some fine mist bottles that I bought for spraying dye (haven't used them yet, wouldn't want to dye the light cube, LOL!), and I'll give them a try with the water.

It's really dry and staticky in the house right now (we keep zapping the cats and each other!), so it may just be an issue I have to deal with for a bit, but I hope I can come up with a decent solution. (I did try rubbing an anti-static dryer sheet on both Nuit and the cube, to no effect.)

Eeee, handsome boys, both of them! :)

I'm wondering if a stretch fabric might not be perfect for a doll, so that he can sit and stand -- personally, I'd go for something like a moleskin fabric for the "buckskins," or a stretch twill for breeches.

Lady Tiku is looking for men's clothes, so I think the EID Woman thread may not be the answer to her question, although it's a great thread in general!

Maybe these have some useful info?

BTW, as an aside -- I tried two pairs of Dollmore Glamor Model boots on my new guy (!!!) yesterday, and they both fit. Here are the styles:

http://dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=6313

http://dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=12406

They zipped all the way up without much difficulty, and while the Iple foot is a little wider than the sole, there's enough room that I didn't have to force the boots on his feet. I may get another pair of Sabukle boots in black, since the brown ones look so good!

Wow, she is BREATHTAKING!! You did an amazing job -- her scars are realistic, the blood on her hands is beautifully-done, and she's a gorgeously sinister creation!

Her lips are especially beautiful -- love the face-up :)

Never apologize -- they're so awesome ^__^

I just called my daughter over to look, and she said "Whoa, they are BAD-ASS!" I totally agree -- love how each of them has a distinctive style, but they're all very obviously powerful women in charge of their own lives, and definitely dangerous to mess with ;)

You can always go with a fantasy element and have the hands painted like they're mechanical (as Adalwolf did), or like I did with my Anubis' hands (he has EID "beast" hands on an SID body, and the hands were originally white resin, from Magician Chase), where they are painted an entirely different color, but fade into the body color. Blushing can also do a lot to help with resin match -- doesn't have to be quite as extreme as these examples! :)

I'll try to get some pictures of the New Guy soon -- I finally have an Arvid!!

(Not the one I ordered from IH, who is still pending . . . a lovely person in my local doll community was selling her Arvid, and I pounced on him! It's going to be neat to have brothers/twins -- and they have very different face-ups and overall style. Magnus is already expressing a strong personality, and Ragnar undoubtedly will, as well!)

I've loved the sculpt for SO long -- can hardly believe that I finally have one at home! :sumomo:

-- A :kitty2

35. Adalwolf those girls are spectacular! Wow! Lightlimner she's beautiful and really scary! Great photos too.
Has anyone gotten Bane? I've had mine for about a week and he's driving me crazy. The sculpt is great as usual, BUT his head is too small. Maybe I'm being picky, but he looks so weird with the other EID boys. I even wrote Iplehouse and asked if I could exchange heads. Of course that was a no go. But I'm sure they know it. All my guys wear 9-10 wigs they have 23-24 cm heads. I have put 8-9 on a few times, but only a few will fit at all and that's tugging. Bane I can slip a 8-9 on without even picking him up. I don't have a SID boy, but this head belongs on a smaller body. I'm kinda crushed.

36. Awwww Lilsgirl! I'm so sorry to hear that!! Maybe they hid his small head with that long wig and it wasn't noticeable in the promo pics? Do you have a faceup on him? I would be interested to see him next to another one of your EIDs.

But I wouldn't feel too bad. Unfortunately a doll doesn't work sometimes. But feel free to vent and show us pictures so we don't make a similar mistake >_<

37. O.o... that is strange! I would love to see some pics of him because I planned on getting him at some point. It'd be nice to see what exactly you're talking about so I can decide if he will still work for what I want him for. At least he's not meant to be paired up with any other IH men I have planned... just Scarlet ^^

38. Sorry to hear about that Lilsgirl, but I would love to see a picture of him without a wig just to see for myself, since he is a doll I am considering getting once I return to working again.

39. Ok...so i ordered my first iplehouse today. Yes nearly had a stroke over the shipping alone lol!
Just a question tho...i set up a layaway and made first payment. Does it take a little while to show up as paid?

40. Iplehouse processes layaway payment manually, and it should show up after they have a chance to do that. Under normal circumstances, that will be the next business day, so it should probably show up for you tomorrow.

Congratulations on your very first order!

41. Thanks Ashbet for the advice, I love the blushing you've done. I don't think I'd have the guts to try anything so dramatic!

Lilsgirl, I'd love to see your Bane as I had been thinking of getting him. In regards to small head, maybe they gave you a SID head instead by accident?

42. Ok. Thanks Jill! I figured it would take a little while...I just plunked down a bunch of money so I wanted to be sure :)

43. This is a horrible grainy iPhone picture, but I think it's good enough to see the head size comparison. In this picture I think maybe Bane is passible. For some reason he looks more in proportion in a photograph I think maybe? Akando in looks much bigger not in the photo, but better here. But next to Victor and Arvid ?
What do you all think? Thanks for your help.
[IMG]Headcomp by lilsgirl2, on Flickr[/IMG]

44. He IS a small head! I would be tempted to save for a Doll Choice SID man and split the head with someone, or get an EID head to go on the Bane body. But what a lineup of handsome men! I love how different they are from each other too!

45. Is Bane the one without makeup? So does he look better with a long wig and not a short wig? How does he look bald?

46. Bane's head size looks OK I think - I had the same issue with my Bichun on an old Superhero body, but with a wig it looks OK. I think Bane's narrow features suit the new Model body better.

Also, could you please invite me to your house so I can ogle your gang of handsome dorries?! :D

47. It must be the faceups, but I don't recognize most of the sculpts, Lilsgirl. Would it be too much trouble to give us a left-to-right identification? Thanks!

48. Wow.... It's not so much that his head is small.... But it's skinny. I know they were going for the "sunken in look" but damn it's like they squished his head. It belongs on a smaller body for sure. Not to twist the knife, but I'd be disappointed. I'd feel cheated, like "I paid for more resin than this." Maybe with a faceup and long hair he'll look better, like your Bichan? I hate giving up too early on a doll.

Oh, and second vermontchick! I want to know the sculpts of your smexy men too. Esp the one on the right end. Is that Arvid?

49. My guess is that Lilsgirl's marvelous men on the picture are following:
Dexter, Bichun, Luo, Akando, Bane, Victor and Arvid

You have really great collection Lilsgirl. I wonder how Bane looks without the wig, his face really looks more slender. Could you please be so kind and post more pictures of him?

50. The blond is Arvid? Hunka hunka burning love! :love

51. Thank you all for the opinions and compliments on my boys! I really do appreciate it. Yes, Boudicca that is the lineup. Dexter, Bichun, Luo, Gentle Akando, Bane, Victor and Arvid. I can take some pictures of Bane without a face up, but it's too cold right now to do a face up. Mr. Super Clear is a no go until warmer weather.
I will have to learn to love him. I am hoping a face up might help and the right wig, you're right annimerockstar I'm not giving up on him yet.
chizzie-shark Australia is pretty far from Georgia, but you are welcome anytime.

52. Okay I gotta ask has anyone gotten a invoice from Iplehouse to pay off their layaway sooner? Because they just sent me one to pay the rest of the amount I owe for my Zera and I still have 2 more payments to make. I did send the second payment a couple of days early, but I don't get it.

53. if you haven't check out the wait room for the notice about Carve Heritage (the first run) ... and kiss your income good bye!

Link to notice post

54. I literally cried for about ten minutes because I don't have the money and had to back out fo a split to make this work. Thank god they did this before I paid though. Looks like I'll be getting my Bliss and Edan earlier than expected.
Man I hope they put the heads in doll choice because if not Ember might have to move to the nYID body so Lacie can be tall.

55. Eva makes a wonderful nYID though ;) Ember would still look great.

I so hear you, Adelle! Why they need to do this at the same time as the head event, and after I just bought Katie's body ... oh well. If they offer layaway I'll probably open an Edan split, offer all the stuff I don't care about, and put him on LA earlier than expected. :)

56. Oh man I would jump for the belts but I have ZERO money ahaha damn it Lacie needs her sword belt but no no NO dolls first ahaha someone hold me.

57. I feel your pain ... with Yur and Katie's body I wasn't planning any more dolls until, say, June :doh

58. I hope you're able to bring your Edan home!
Since I missed out on Bliss's sale last year, almost exactly one year actually, I'm going for it now. Who knows how long until they open them up for sale again if they do. Not risking it. Sadly though I will have some loans to pay off before I can order them wigs and proper eyes. My poor bald babies oh my.

59. They were going to put them in Doll Choice ... but there's no telling what will happen to that plan if they re-release the whole series now! Boy, I do hope they offer LA.
As for wigs, that's why I tried making my own. Faux fur is cheap as chips and sewing up a quick fix wig isn't that hard. Doesn't look like much but it's still better than no wig at all ...

60. Oh no, I had given up all hope of ever getting Edan, but now I want to try and gather the funds to bring him home. *_*
