Iplehouse EID and SID Discussion Part 15

Hmm... you know, that outfit IS a bit expensive for only having a coat, a simple shirt and a small vest! If you buy the armored EID coat, it is $110--and has lots of details. Technically, I suppose a shirt can be 30-ish and a vest can be 30-ish... but buying an outfit is different from buying each piece separately--or should be. Maybe the materials cost more? Hmmm...

But I DO need a long coat for my SID... so I think I will buy it... and feel I am paying too much, too, but what can you do?

It warms my heart to see such an amazing response to a doll, a god, and a project that is so intensely personal and special to me. And I'm just thrilled beyond belief to have him complete!)

A Sekhmet doll is a dream of mine, as well -- I may have to sculpt her myself, if it comes to it, but She *will* happen someday!!

(I have SOOM Ignim as my Bast -- she's lovely and serene. I considered trying to put her on an SID or nYID body, since I prefer Iple's body sculpt/posing, but Ignim is a small head, and the proportions weren't right. I was willing to do the major neck mods that would have been necessary, but it just wouldn't have worked.)

PAVILioN.K, a Japanese artist, makes amazing lion heads that are intended for 65-70cm bodies, and I actually miraculously managed to get my hands on one, but he's very masculine. Haven't decided yet if I'll try to modify the head, or use it to create a sexy Beauty and the Beast-type lion-man.

Yes, I do like my animal-headed gods and anthro critters ^____^

Edit: Would have started the thread off with pics, but I haven't had a chance to edit them yet - my Zuul-kitty needed dental surgery on Friday, and I've been taking care of her and dealing with household/family stuff. More Anubis soon -- and thankfully, Zuulie is recovering well and enjoying the treat of fancy wet food whenever she wants it!

I've never seen those heads by PAVILioN.K before. I'll definitely be looking forward to what you do with it. I had Ignim for a short while, but ending up rehoming her. It may have just been the way she was painted, but I just couldn't get used to those big pouty lips. lol I did keep most of her parts in hopes of eventually reshelling her to another pretty tan girly. I really loved the cat head and shoes they designed for her.

Back to Iple stuff~I'm currently finishing up the linework on some Norse tattoos for my Victor, so hopefully I'll be able to post pics of him soon. Just trying to decide if I should leave it black or add a little color.

I love coming to this thread and admiring all the eye candy. Some day I will have a EID or SID in my collection.

 

I know what you mean. No matter how I try to reason with my self, no matter how I try to look at it in a new positive light.... I feel slightly jipped. It's truly the first time by Iplehouse. I feel they produce such quality items that I don't mind paying $30 for a shirt and another $30 for pants because I feel like I'm getting more than my money's worth. I can't even remember how much I spent on the Dark Knight outfit or the Fairy Pure set - because I love them. They are so amazing and so gorgeous that I don't care!
On a slightly positive (but doesn't help the cost issue whatsoever), in an attempt to put the damn outfit on in an easy way - I stuck the shirt inside the coat first, and then put it on him.... only to realize I had forgotten to put the vest on too. BUT... I will have to say... I like it better without the vest. I have never seen the Le Roi Danse vest in person... but I like that pattern better than the Dark Garnet vest. I'm going to try making my own vest (I've only made them in SDF size) and see if it looks any better.

Again... if you don't have some long black coat... it's a cool black coat... but I'm thinking of snipping the lapels so I can pop the collar.....

 

On the subject of clothes - I seem to remember Iple used to have denim hot pants with lace "accents" for SID girls, right? They're gone from their page, but does anyone happen to have them and could possibly maybe show me a reference pic or two (or point me towards some)? Katie and I would be very grateful indeed

Dude... I can usually find anything on the internet... but you have stumped me. Granted I've never seen these shorts before so a better description might help me, but I can't find much of anything. Only thing I found possible is that Troublestar put some SID denim shorts on her nYID girl back in Jan 2013. Maybe they are the same? Scratch that. I just found her Flickr and it doesn't look like your shorts.
Was it lace around the leg holes or like lace appliques on the shorts? And do you remember what color lace?



And BTW Mir Ra your picture is fabulous! I love how her dress matches the rooftop!

 

It was rather light denim with off-white lace ... the lace was on one of the front pockets' tops (what's it called, the visible upper part of the lining?) and there was some in the back. I don't think it was around the leg holes, but I'm not 100% sure.
I'm starting to believe my memory is playing tricks on me But I'm positive they used to be there.

What, if any, BJDs look like proportionate children fore EIDS? I think somebody said BIDs are too much smaller than them for the age they appear to be.

 

KIDs work as kindergarteners, but I think you'll need an old fashioned, childlike MSD to be a slightly older kid. JIDs are the right height but the wrong shape!

 

@ericac: What age did you want? I think Luts used to promote their Kid Delfs as 6 year olds (although they've been leaning toward more mature types lately). The regular Kid Delf bodies should work well as a child that age for EIDs, if you go by realistic average height. Same with Soom Little Gems, which have similar body types.

 

Good to know. I was thinking more about toddlers but it's not written in stone.

 

This is my SID Claude and my LUTS Honey Delf Choco. She's supposed to look like she's in kindergarten. (At least I hope she does... my mother says she looks like she's in second grade ) So for an EID she might work as an older toddler. The HDF is 26cm which is similar to the BID size.
EDIT: Actually cut off in the picture on the right is a BID Bonnie... I believe. It's a BID something. You can see the head is slightly larger than my Choco's. I think BIDs look more like first graders to an SID imo... compared to the cutesy HDF. But sidroq is right - if you figure the average human kindergartener is 43in or 109cm tall then compared to a 6ft+ man (I don't know how tall EID's are supposed to be) a KID size would be perfect. So if you wanted to stick with IH, a BID would be good for a preschooler.

I actually only have Ignim's cat head -- the human head wasn't my style, either. Since I was making her into Bast, I didn't need a spare head

Looking forward to seeing your tattooed Norseman -- maybe black with a little bit of red and blue? Those are the colors I tend to think of in conjunction with Nordic tattoos and body paint

Ooooookay guys! I finally finished Sage's body blushing! ("finally"...tch, I've spent two days on it) But I'd really appreciate it if you faceup and customizin' gurus out there would take a look at him whenever you can so I can get some helpful feedback on him. It's my very first attempt to body blush and I've only dabbled in faceups - fixing previous ones - I've never done one from blank - so this is newbie work... FYI. I think I did a pretty good job, but I'm also bias to Claude's sculpt and I don't know some of the tricks of the trade. Good job on the blushing, animerockstar! I'm no guru, but I know what I like. I love how you did the veins. They don't jump out at you, they simply look natural. It's all very subtle. I like it!!

 

Thank you so much! That was the one thing I noticed when researching other people's blushing. Some people blushed all the veins which made them look.... weird. Because he's in his 20's, not my grandmother. So I wanted all the blushing to be very subtle. IH dolls look so realistic that I wanted to make him look more "real". I like the way he turned out so thank you very much

 

He looks great animerockstar. Very natural, I hardly noticed the veins at all, which is a good thing. However, those nipples. Maybe a shade darker toward the brown? So it doesn't look fluorescent pink? I dont know, it's either my RGB setting or the way that colors reflects when you take pictures. I googled "good looking men" and all these dudes with ripped bodies popped up. But their nipples are darker in color. Just a suggestion. Good job!

 

Yeah I wasn't sure about that either... Since he's more peachy and not so tan like those models. Ha, I had to google "male model" to figure out what veins are actually blue! But his right nip is actually lighter than his left so I have to fix them anyway. I will try adding more brown to my color and see if that helps. Thank you so much! I don't know why, but I feel I had to seek ya'lls approval before he was deemed worthy....to put clothes on. Even though I think he looks great. Thank you so so much again!

 

Oh, I like what you did there *v* The veins are really well done, and the muscles? rrrr~ I wanna touch them XD I prefer the pinkish nipples, by the way...

 

I love how Sage turned out! My Felix has company-blushed hands and they look overdone in person ... you definitely nailed the realistic look. (dem muscles ... ! Yum.)

Ok so Im calling out for help - Ive been looking for a mid, intense colour blue wig, preferably with no bangs for a few weeks now and Ive come up with zilch I checked formydoll and Leekeworld and even the marketplace here. Ive looked on ebay and found two, at a push that would do kind of wigs but I know they're not right. Can anyone suggest somewhere that might have what Im looking for?

 

@Ishtar: Have you looked at Happy Camille wigs? Ersa Flora does pre-orders for them (currently closed), and you can select the color/mix and style you want. The pre-order is currently closed, but you can follow the site for updates. The color chart is not exactly accurate though, so I'd ask Shelly for a recommendation on what color might be closest to what you want when you order.

 

Do you have a particular style in mind? And something like this blue? If you can't find the right color you could always dye it. I've done it on synthetic wigs before via Speedball ink & Iso. Alcohol method. If you spray them lightly with fabric softener afterwords they become really soft again. I bought some of Leekeworld's hair wefts and wig caps on my last order and I plan on making some of my own wigs ~ I just need to decide on some styles

 

Can you show us a couple of the wigs that are close to the color and style that you want? Long or short? Center part?

and, just need to say I'm doomed! I love Lawrence, although I'm not keen on those beetle brows they're too thick for my taste. But otherwise - he's gorgeous

 

I am finally going to cave and order a male EID. I know he's big. I know he's heavy. Still, Lawrence is giving me good vibes--all except for the black shoe polish eyebrows. I sure hope there's an alternate face-up! That uniform is giving me the shivers all over. It reminds me of the Horatio Hornblower TV series and Lawrence himself reminds me of Ioan Gruffudd. Oh, golly, I'll have to sell at least two dolls to be able to afford him. Trouble is, I'm running out of dolls that I'd care to part with. If only I hadn't ordered SID Vincent...
