I came across the preview of the next doll, a SID woman of the carved heritage series. I am not too sure what to think about her... But I personally don't really like the carved heritage :/ Quite curious about her face though. Maybe a custom face-up would make her look more beautiful? But I can't get warm with her so far :/

Carved Heritage_SID Woman Harace par Iple House doll, sur Flickr

vermont chick, it sounded like the designer wound up changing the design as the doll's story evolved (I do hope they make that dress someday, as a stand-alone item, because *I* want it -- but I think that Herace's amazing Turkish dress is brilliant!), because they posted pictures of her costume on their Flickr, and it's totally different.

It's a little hard to understand the English on the "Iple BJD" page for this one -- but as far as I can tell, they scrapped the big-dress design and went with this instead, since these are the photos they're posting, and Herace's preview pic on the Iple front page has the veil and headdress.

Wow. I don't need Harace, but I am drooling over that dress. The colors, the style the fabric...I want it!!

 

I'm kind of relieved they changed her outfit too. Her new design looks great, but I LOVE that concept dress and would probably have zero chance of finding one in a split. lol :: Crosses fingers for something similar as a non-limited release ::

OMG.... me too! I must get it! But I'm reeeeaaallly not feeling her at all. I don't like that her eyes are so droopy. I guess it's good for some people that like moody female characters. I for one prefer moody boys. To each his own.

 

I had to re-read the costume description about 3 times before I realized it was talking about a different dress than the big period gown pictured. The Flickr photos of the new dress are just awesome. Want this outfit!!!!! I still need to see Harace's face without the veil before I know if I want to buy her. So far I like what I see. I'm really looking forward to reading her story.

I'm with you on that one! Moody boys are mysterious, but moody girls? Meh, all I have to do is look in a mirror on a bad day. But that dress! Guess I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and haunting the MP for a Harace split...

But Kazegoroshi in the waiting room had a novel thought about the story line... what if Harace is actually Edan's mother?! That was kidnapped and sold off or something? I think it sounds really interesting!! I'm excited to hear the story! I think this has been one of the best story lines so far.

Maybe with a custom face-up you could make her seem very soft and gentle... but she would still look like she holds some sort of tragic past or secret. Like she's secretly dying of some fatal disease, but tries to smile all the time. At least that's just the vibe I get from her. But face-up artists are magical - I'm sure you could make her look as beautiful as Helen or as evil as Maleficent if you wanted to. Blank heads are like blank canvases

Right?! I want a badass girl! I think I'm going to have to get the dress through DC. Maybe we'll get the option for two like with Edan? Then I'll hook you up with a split

 

Our worst fears are confirmed: Harace has 2 dresses!

 

Apparently not! Not sure I need a froufrou wedding gown for my girl, but from what I can see it's gorgeous - and clearly Iplehouse hates the idea of any of us having so much as a dime left in the bank. They are evil!

Oh, I didn't see this. It does sound like a possibility...maybe she is Edan's mother, and maybe his father is also Bliss's father...? Then again, maybe not - but I wonder. I mean, at some point all of these stories have to fit together into Bliss's 'carved heritage', right?

Oh I seriously hope Iple makes a new badass girl! ^^ One that kicks ass and takes names! A strong girl who doesn't need a man. Someone like Motoko Kusanagi from GITS. She is my ideal badass. I think that's why I'm drawn to "Assassin Mari". She looks like she could be a badass.

Yes! Yes! More Yes! I really would love to see some SID woman with an attitude like Fem-Shep or Samus! The EID woman have really strong bone structure but I would like to see more SID or even YID girls with that strong face. Hot and almost evil, where their faceup clearly says "I don't give a ****!" Yeah Mari is kinda lame because her family is killed or whatnot (I can't remember) and that's why she becomes an assassin. I just want a girl that's just like "#$*! you. I do what I want." A girl like that looks good in anything, imo. But I still love the Assassin outfit. I will have it one day.

LOL I saw it when I checked my Flickr!... for a second I thought it was the new IH CH wedding dress! Until it realized it wasn't even snow white >< You got a good friend to part with that bit of pretty fluff ^^

 

Haha I wish I had the money to own ALL of Iple's wonderful dresses
She bought it for her YID Rexy but it didn't fit her right in the bust and was a little too long, so she sold it. Fits the SID body perfectly like it was made for it. Strange considering she said it was from the late 80's early 90's.

 

Harace's placeholder page is now up! The 2 dresses together are $330 @.@

Argh she's so beautiful it's breaking my heart. I've had her pretty face staring from my screen all day at work.

 

She did come out a lot prettier than I expected, but I think I'm safe. I would love to see how she would look with a little more color to her face(Can't see too much difference between faceups A & B ), but it really wouldn't fit her character for their story anyway. I'm just glad they're releasing her beautiful Persian outfit in the fall as a basic outfit!

 

I'd love to see more women with stronger face structure who aren't white. Maybe Bliss can meet Ching Shih on her travels! (I actually think Harace could look quite strong with a different face-up... she's got the jaw and cheeks for it)

Also, I just keep hoping against hope they took our request for serious consideration because I'm stuck. I can't get the female doll I want because I keep hoping they'll actually make a more powerful-looking female body. There's just no way I can really get Joan on the current EID. It'll be like FemShep all over again, with me spending way too much time distracted by wondering how she ever gets around with those wrist-sized upper arms instead of paying attention to the story or the rather awesome character.

 

I want to see an SID or EID girl with a body like Linda Hamilton's in the second Terminator movie...not bulky, just incredibly well defined and strong. For that I would break my own no-more-girls rule.

Speaking of, my Rebecca came back home today sporting her new tatts! I'll share better photos over the weekend, but for now, here are closeups of her tatts. There were done by a friend.

 

That's exactly what I was thinking! She did turn out actually pretty beautiful. The only difference I see in the faceups is the lips and the cheek/nose blushing. It really isn't that drastic. But I think they were trying to keep it down to one faceup for the limiteds anyway so I can see why they are so similar. I saw they are releasing the Persian dress later... I think I will have to convince myself to get it later.

I'm glad I'm not the only one out there wanting some strong women variety. I'm with you celga, I don't want an Amazonian woman... I just want a kickass woman. And Lelite, wouldn't it be awesome if the "Red Flag Fleet" was who was coming towards them at the end of Harace's story!!

 

I think it would help if more people ask them about making stronger females, so they know that there's a market for a doll like that. Maybe they think it wouldn't sell very well, but from the looks of the comments here, it seems like the opposite is true!

Adalwolf: You've pretty much answered your own question.

Not saying that Iple won't release a muscled female in the future, but it's just not their aesthetic and if they were to do it, it would take one heck of a long time, especially since their sculptors like to get sculpts exactly right. I think it's fine to ask them, but given that there's already a thread for this on the IH forum, and that people have already asked them about this before, more people asking them on Q&A isn't going to change anything and would just delay the rest of their work.

 

I just want wider shoulders and slightly thicker neck. Something like what the nYID boys already have. They can literally keep everything else the same, just give her arms that look like she can do some pull-ups and a neck that can balance out a stronger bone structure. If it was me I'd keep the lower body the same and thicken up the entire upper body (just a bit), so all of the pants and looser tops would still fit while the nYID/SID men's wardrobe selections could be pilfered for the rest. Not like too many people interested in buying the more imposing body would get upset that they can't cram it into a wedding dress.

But, sadly, I think you may be right, Adalwolf. I mean we've only asked them less than a year ago so it would probably take longer, but I fear that they won't do it at all because it's not something that appeals to their sensibilities, not with all of the frou-frou stuff they've been putting out and I guess they do have to balance business with making things they like (I mean the EID has already been sort of described as "Amazon").

But it just makes me kind of sad. I have nothing against girly girls or petite, delicate women (with 3 nYID women in my purchasing history and an eye on a Supia Rosy, clearly my interests do lean that way), but sometimes I feel like this pathological aversion to women who look like they can take of themselves stems from fetishized female weakness and dependancy, which sort of makes me twitch in an unpleasant way. ETA like a day later: obviously this is waaaaaayyyyy bigger than Iplehouse's sculpting decisions here. 'Cause, well, it's endemic in this entire hobby, which is, of course, heavily influenced by the world at large.


I think I will actually go and ask them on the QnA, but only because it affects my actual purchasing plans. I guess if they say no, my next option would be to consider Raiden-ing the crap out of the existing EID female body.

 

Adalwolf, I completely feel you on this. As much as I enjoy their photostories, they definitely aren't taking advantage of everything they could with this storyline. Personally, if I were to, say, roleplay in the Carved Heritage setting, the first type of character that would come to mind would be a pirate queen. Historically, there were several amazing pirate queens (Ching Shih, who was mentioned by someone else in one of these Iple threads recently, Anne Bonny and Mary Read, to name the most prominent) who helped define their historical periods. It's right there in history and it's so badass and it would work perfectly with a muscular female body.

(Plus I am biased. My Anora, who's currently on the wide-shouldered and slender Feeple65 body, is a martial artist. A small or medium bust musuclar body would be absolutely incredible for her. I'd buy it without hesitation.)

Exactly! You hit the nail on the head. There's nothing wrong with girly girls and sultry boss women, but it would be nice to see even more variety. Iplehouse is the company to give us that, in my opinion, because they're already delivering realistic body types that we don't really see elsewhere in the BJD world.

I don't want to critique the story too much, because I know it's meant as a minor, amusing, supplementary part of the doll buying experience, but they do love their dead moms and sexualized girls. It'd be nice to see a girl who's like a female Leonard. Someone's dad could be killed off to give her more angst, and then she could spend a few nights with a sexy selection of men in tiny underwear to let off some steam. She could be older than 25 with no love interest on the horizon. Maybe, here's a crazy thought, she could even be someone's mom who isn't dead!

I agree with the last reply: it's awful when women over-exploited their femininity and weakness. This meanness, in my opinion. So, basically iples girls - fine examples of womanhood, not passing into vulgarity. Strong, sensual, cute, but not Amazon or spiteful... But it will be nice to see more exciting new dolls - like female Leonard version or something else

 

I'm glad they'll be offering the Turkish outfit later -- I'll still totally go in on a split if I get the opportunity (I am not the world's most patient person, LOL), but that takes a lot of the pressure off.

Ditto, ditto and ditto! I can't wait to get my hands on that outfit...and I'm glad they decided to do something a little different. Much as I love the European period pieces and all of the hunter stuff, I also love seeing their take on some 'traditional' international styles.

 

My hubby thinks Harace is gorgeous, but if I did not pass up on another higher paying job( and being in more pain because of it) I would totally buy Harace at a drop of a hat. I will admire her with through owner pics instead.

Adalwolf, I'm totally with you. I think they should have a strong female option. And I visited your Q&A post on IH website and wow! 14 pages... there's a lot of people interested. I wouldn't consider the EID woman "Amazonian" by any means. She just looks like a taller, bigger SID woman to me. In fact, if wardrobe was an issue... I wonder if they could alter the SID woman so that she could wear EID woman clothes as well as "SID strong woman" clothing line?

 

I am with both of you... now I don't have to order "Grace" to get the outfit I want lol... Sorry Harace just doesn't do it for me... I think she is too "mood" specific... for me. But the dress >< I have no use for it really but oh I do love 'international styles' a celga put it.. As for patience... I used to be... until I got into these dang dolls O_O wtf? Heh I was getting ready to poke you Ash, to watch for our Leo splt LOL....

It looked like most of the non-face-upped Leos have shipped or are about to ship . . . and then there are a few ahead of my order, he'll probably be toward the middle of the face-up pack.)

Harace is really lovely! I'm very interested in both her outfits -- but, if I had money, I think I'd get an SID Aurora through Doll Choice instead, and get the dresses with her. (I like happy dolls, cranky dolls, and fierce dolls -- but sad/melancholy is less of my thing.)

In other news -- missed the local BJD meetup yesterday because I threw my back out spectacularly . . . so, didn't get to see Animerockstar or bring a couple of my Iple crew, as I'd been planning. Today has mostly been spent being totally flattened out by pain/pain meds/muscle relaxers. Boooo :/

Optimistically keeping an eye out for a shipping notice on Leonard, but I'm not really expecting him until mid-August or later.

Firstly... blowing a back and missing a meet sux royal! A.R.S sounds like a total gas & I'd be mad at the missed chance to meet her too ;p I don't have any 'local' Iple ppl either. Well there are one or two that come to the big con if possible (I can't believe I forgot to take pics last year >< ... too majorly distracted by the dolls lol). As for the Spunk gals ... and guns. I guess I am lucky since I am very genre/time period oriented. I much more relaxed about the 'fashions' which is bad news for me lol. But I have to be able to see my regency(ish) era guys with the weapons... having 'old guns' would not be odd for pirates but the modern ones... eh not so much ;p. I am just happy dancing that I can avoid "doll" costs this month (I'll do the harem dress later too ;p) ^_^... But I DO love steampunk too lol. I just have to stay focused... as much as possible?

Some local guy cashed in on a 50/50 thing at a sport game here and the usual question of 'what will you use it for' popped up... I think it took .005 second for a half dozen dolls to pop into my head at the same time as 'pay bills'... which for me is almost the same thing ;p. Most of my expenses I do cash payments... dolls live on my Visa lol. I'm still thinking of Tata's if it's still around later (the guns I mean) later for any 'extras' ^^.

A somewhat better photo of Sierra. She's a sleeper agent, so she's seen a lot of action, but she does have her girly days. I'm getting my new camera soon for my trip to Japan, so hopefully, I will have better photos of one of my dolls at least when I bring 'em for the trip.
