That's dress is beautiful! It looks really perfect on her. Which dress is it?

 

So lovely! Did you grab up that last Renoir gown? I contemplated grabbing it when Iple put up all those "1 quantity" outfits a couple of weeks ago but for whatever reason I decided not to. Now I regret it as it is beautiful! Great combination

 

Chameleon and Dusk, it's the Renoir dress. I wasn't planning to get another iple outfit so soon after she arrived, but when it showed up on the site, I just couldn't help but buying it. I loved the color and I've always wanted a big fancy dress in this style (with the large fancy skirts).

Hi guys! So, I have an Iplehouse Edan on the way, and I'd love some spam and opinions on eye sizes. I really like urethanes, but I'm thinking I might have to look into some of those small iris glass eyes for him.

 

If you want a realistic look, small iris is the way to go. I really like Masterpiece Eyes, they make soft glass (silicone) eyes that are very nice and there are options ranging from realistic to fantasy. Being pliable means that they can fit really nicely in your doll's eyewells, which makes them look really natural.

 

Both my Edans wear Eyeco 10-11mm eyes. Ewan wears Frisco color...



I have had terrible luck with urethane eyes in my Iples. Could be my lighting, though.

I took both her and her husband out for some "out for an early spring walk" shots today. I found my old Nine9style coat that was always to big for my delf boys and tried it on my Carina. It's a bit baggy, but it went well with his outfit.

nYID boy mobility joints, yea or nay?

 

i have it on ALL my dolls... you want 'mobility
' get it... you want him to stand pretty and never move and show clean lines don't... depends on how you pose your dolls.. but it takes learning.

 

I went with yea. I figured $20 wasn't worth regret if I didn't. lol

 

Wish I could do an order soon... Might be long before I can, or not. I have no idea. Got so many other non-BJD related things I need to get done. Waiting sucks

 

I've got three Volks boys, a BuddyDoll girl and a couple of minis who already don't look anything at all like each other, a Yur would look ridiculous with them.

And yet. On the SID body... Siiigh.

My Edan head got here, but I think his previous owner tried to sand his face-up off. He's covered in scratches. I've been buffing them out but some of them are hard to reach. D: Welp, guess it's a bonding moment. I hope it doesn't affect his face-ups.

 

Uh...so... I've been MIA for like, a year? Oops.

I really have nothing to contribute at this point, other than to weigh in on the nYID mobility cut thing. Neither of my boys have it. On the negative side, they pose like bricks (but ALL Iple dolls pose like bricks anyway, regardless of the "mobility" cuts, so no major loss there in my opinion). On the plus side, they can also stand as solidly as bricks, which has enabled me to take Tyler all over the place and stand him on numerous uneven surfaces without worrying too much about him falling over if I breathe on him. I think it really depends on what you want to do with your dolls in choosing whether you get the mobility cut or not.

I need help! Anyone who has Bane, does he really need a 9-10 wig if I bought him one from Iplehouse, or could he wear the 8-9?
Weirdly I've had mine a year and he's never worn a wig D:

Also, if anyone has Doria, I'd love to see pictures of her.

Bane has a smallish head for an EID male, and mine can wear Iplehouse 8-9 wigs. They are a bit tight, but he got full coverage with the ones I tried on him. However, since Iple wigs aren't very stretchy, any variance in size could mean an 8-9 might not fit. If you want an Iple wig for him, 9-10 might be a safer choice.

However, if you're not set on an Iple brand wig, Monique 8-9 wigs fit him very well, and that's what I have used on mine most often.

Thank you guys! your Doria's are beautiful! I am seriously considering her for Catwoman (she's it on my list right now), and this is so helpful.

I see @operadoll 's beautiful girl is EID, any SID? does she look ok on the SID? (I did look for photos, but I only found some and it was hard to tell). I'm ok with going EID, but paranoia makes me want to get the slightly smaller girl.

This is super helpful, thank you. I am pretty set on one specific Iple wig I should have gotten when I ordered him last year D:, so I think I'll up a size. Good to know, since I was hoping to get one wig and make two dolls share. That won't happen now XD

 

Iplehouse has done a photoshoot with Doria's head on a SID body. You can check out their black Leona dress set to see how she looks.

EID and SID ladies have roughly the same head size. There's a little variation from sculpt to sculpt, but any EID head should look natural on a SID body. Personally I think Doria would be perfect as a SID. The slim body would match her angular face.

She's gorgeous as an EID too, of course.

 

@operadoll Thank you! I don't usually look at clothes on iple's site (that aren't for boys), so it didn't occur to me to look there. You're right she does look good! And on the EID too :3
But I fear the large girls. I'm just not ready....so SID is a better size. Yay! I think I may order this weekend.

Justin was a sculpt that never appealed to me (based on Iple's pictures) but yours actually looks quite handsome & cute! May I ask what skin color he is and if that is an Iple face-up (if so, which option)?

 

New guy alert: YID Lucian. Teenage-y vibes all around.

 

Oh no... he works for one of my characters...though his body doesn't really work for that one... oh no.

 

@Jany - *waves* Hey! Things have been a bit crazy (some good, some bad). I got a new job and moved to another province, sold some dolls, cut ties with some bad people in my life and generally had an eventful year. Things are going well right now. I hope you & your resin folks are well, too!

Thank you! To be honest, I don't like any of the default faceups for Justin either. I find a faceup can make so much difference in the overall appeal of a certain sculpt. Michael is the Peach Gold skin colour and his faceup is an Iple faceup (just not any of the Justin defaults). It's Oscar's "B" faceup, so he and his brother match each other.

hmm...not sure how I feel about Lucian yet. Honestly, I'm more interested in his clothes. I really wish Iple would make some regular old casual clothes and basic wardrobe pieces for nYID boys. Jeans that aren't skinnies are especially hard to find for these guys.
