Iplehouse Discussion ( YID, nYID, SID, EID ) Part 07

May 12, 2016

    1. looking through old pics... wanted to share Rex again because he is so ...:love:love:love:love I sure do miss my Iple dolls.... maybe someday I will slowly replace them... :) I found the EID and SID too big for my liking and wanted to try the YID but don't see as much available for clothing for this size as the others... and is it really THAT much smaller than the SID? Anyhow, here's my old guy Rex.... :)

    2. ELF Vera, Aurora and Grace were released together after Drake's original release and were all SID at time of release, although the original human version of Vera was YID ;)

Suok2011 you can still buy the sculpts in Doll's Choice as Fishcake mentions, but if you want to see the original sales pages, you'll find them listed under the Carved Heritage range :)

    3. A beautiful Rex, @wrxgal! I love seeing what others have done with theirs. :)

Here is a new pic of my own.

    4. Loving the Rex guys -- so handsome!

Enjoying some time with my three ladies today. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Lahela (fingers crossed she will arrive in February)!
Elf Aurora's ears can look so big (without a wig) but then just peek through the hair.
Zera's going gray, LOL, but only in her eye color. She has been green eyed for a long time, so it is a nice change.

    5. @LaurieESW did you make the dresses? I do so love Elf Aurora <3

    6. Cross posted from the Volks forum.
Here's a quick photo of my Volks SD17 Black Jack and my Iplehouse nYID Andrew.
I swapped wigs and I love how it looks on my Andrew (Liam). :O !!

    7. Yes, I made their dresses. :3nodding: I was thinking of purses too....white, but I guess they should be black to match the shoes...I do not have any white shoes for them. Well actually I do have one pair, but they are the white and black with the tassel...not quite the right style for these dresses. I wish Iplehouse would have white in each of the shoe styles these gals are wearing.
Hmm...I really need to get them some white shoes.
Thank you for the Aurora <3 I am so thankful to have her.

    8. Thanks so much! โ™ฅ All credit for the amazing painting job goes to my girlfriend @Adalwolf who did all the faceup magic on Undine's face~ I originally suggested a different way to paint the scales, but she wanted to try it this way... And I couldn't be happier with the end result ;3;

Also, thank you for your comments @Sianserais @LaurieESW and @Airike :D

Belated happy birthday to your boy @Airike ! โ™ฅ Two years go so fast in the hobby!

If you're looking for white shoes that would fit your girls, I recommend checking out Paul_zhangby on Ebay as they have pretty cheap, but still gorgeous pumps that fit Iple girls :)

@fishcake and @Forever already answered to this, so no, I didn't have to mod her ears as she was released as an elf version :3 I got mine through the Doll Choice, as I wanted the nYID body for her and the non-Doll Choice version was released on SID body.

    9. Thank you all for answering my question. I looked and looked at DC but didn't see Vera elf, maybe because yours looks so much different from the original version.

    10. I have a question regarding the wig size of female SID dolls. Do all SID female dolls wear the same wig size and what size would that be?

    11. @Shaddy Mostly the SID girls wear just a size 8...8.5 is a little large. The wigs that fit the best are the Iple ones, so if you can get a wig at the same time you order that is ideal.

    12. If you're looking outside of Iple's site, I've found that 7-8 work well for EID/SID heads, especially if they have some stretch to the wig cap. 8-9 tend to be way too large.

    13. @ fiscake and Verse, thank you both for your answer. :)

    14. SIDs have got some bitty little heads for sure! My SID boy wears a 7-8 wig, and it seems like that's not uncommon with the girls either.

    15. Wow, they're that small? :ablink: Glad I haven't ordered my wig for my Carina yet then... I was planning on getting one from Hannasu (one of Leeke World's old mohair wigs) and I was going to get an 8/9, but maybe I should get a 7/8 eh?

    16. @RamenDoodles Carina's head is actually 8 and 1/4 inches around, so the 8 wigs are right for her--she has one of the bigger heads!

    17. Oh, thanks! I can't wait to actually try things on her, she was supposed to be delivered today but no one was home to accept the package :doh

    18. Oh noes! Hopefully she will come in tomorrow then!

    19. I think it depends on the wig manufacture and stretch to the wig cap. Even at times it can vary just based on the style. I am a dealer for a wig manufacture and have seen there is not always a same fit, just because it says X size, not every wig in that size will fit the same.
Also 8/9 wigs do tend to have more hair than the 7/8, in a lot of cases. I have some 7/8, but I would say the vast majority I use for my SID are size 8/9. Like many things with doll collecting it is a personal preference, there will be many opinions and answers. :)

      • x 1
    20. That has been my experience, too (except for the part about being a wig dealer, LOL). Also, I prefer using an 8/9 over a silicone wig cap to take up the slack, rather than stretching a 7/8 to make it fit.

    21. If you're talking about a wig that is NOT elastic, go for 8-9", because chances are the 7-8" version will be too small.
When it comes to elastic wigs, 8-9" can be loose on Iple girls and sometimes puff out strangely, but as others have said, it's up to you what you prefer.

    22. LOL...me too, on the silicone wig cap. Much prefer having a fuller wig held in place than 'wrestling on' a possibly small 7/8 wig. However, the silicone cap helps with that too (wrestling on a smaller wig). I would be 'lost' without them.

    23. So after I took this photo I noticed it looked like Elf Aurora might be trying to send me a message with that tilted head...like...okay enough with these modern clothes. I want some fantasy gowns. Or am I the only one that 'hears their body language'?
Or do you think she has another message? I want to keep these gals happy. ;)

    24. @LaurieESW I like when dolls "express" things with body language. Maybe she's saying she resents being dressed like the other two? If I saw three ladies dressed similarly in real life, I'd think they were bridesmaids. You have a lovely trio. :)

    25. I had a similar thought, except I imagined a singing group rather than bridesmaids. As if she were saying, "Really? Who's the lead singer, here? I need to stand out from the crowd." The dresses are really well made, even if Aurora does want something different.

    26. @LaurieESW The Elf Aurora definitely has an attitude lol!

    27. LOL, you are probably right, that she resents being dressed like the other two. Aurora is very particular. Thank you, I really love my trio.

Oh that is good, I could see them as a singing group, or the back up singers. HID Lahela could be the lead ;). Thank you, I have enjoyed working on them for the trio.

Yes, Elf Aurora is not one to be trifled with. :) So for her next outfit, I will work on something more to her taste. She has been a good sport.

    28. Here's my dear Liam (nYID Andrew) with his roommate and "little sister". They have such similar temperaments.

    29. Hey everyone!

My husband ended up ordering his Iplehouse doll, but he ended up changing his mind about elf Grace and went for EID Asa instead. He actually still wants Grace, but he decided he would rather shell another character of his first. I may have created a monster. ;)

Could I request some Asa spam? :D

Oh and one more question, what type or brand of wigs do you all prefer for your Iplehouse ladies?

    30. Good luck with your monster, then. (Always fun when family members can share in the hobby!)
I think my favorite wigs I own so far are Monique ones (some of which are also found at Facets), but it really depends on the style/color I'm looking for. Is there something in particular we can help you find?

      • x 1
    31. Thank you for the link! Monique wigs are beautiful. I'm just looking for different options to show my husband. :)

    32. I second the Monique wig suggestion. However, I've only tried Iplehouse, eBay (several - the quality and feel is crappy on all the ones I've tried) and Monique. I will add that I didn't like ordering from Monique directly, I preferred looking at the wigs on Facets, I like the pictures better, and ordering from there or Audrey's Doll Gallery.

    33. I change the make up to my Tarja (Asa SID) lately and it is like new life :)

      they share the body unfortunately...

btw I love nYID hands, and I use them for other dolls...

    34. Well, in that case I'll toss you a few more. ^_^ I can't personally vouch for the quality on all of these, however.

    35. I love the way you did her face up.

    36. My first post, so forgive me if I do it wrong. Iove the variation in your dolls. My favorite is the far left. I only have one Iple; an Ashanti on the nYID body. So I'm just learning about this big world of BJD, but am loving it so far. Adding Mari to my possibilities list for next purchase.

    37. Sooo cute....off to Iplehouse to investigate Mari....

    38. Welcome to what some of us call the 'inescapable vortex' that is Iplehouse... they do not seem to like being alone and tend to force us to 'get them friends. Look forward to seeing pics of your girl

i suggest you also go to /threads/iplehouse-waiting-room-v33.735636/ and at least subscribe/follow the the thread... the first few posts have several Iplehouse related links and lots of helpful information. And we do a lot of chatter about what is currently going on in all of iple as well as keep the 'list'.

i can point out one error you made.... do not anser each post separately ... they will be condenced into a single post by a moderator.... your count will not increase doing this. Use 'multi quote'

    39. Thanks so much! And welcome to the world of Iples! And the sculpt Mari comes in two sizes now...the regular SD size like mine above which can be put on and EID/SID?nYID body or the newer FID size Mari that is of the Fashion doll size.

      All good! :)

    40. I keep going on Iplehouse website I soo want a YID Boy they look awesome

    41. So, to everyone who already has Iplehouse female dolls at home, which do you prefer, 12mm eyes or 10mm for the iris size. I have a pair of 10mm small iris eyes in my Kamau, but I'm not sure what'll look best in Carina...

    42. Eye size depends on the sculpt, as well as the overall look and/or expression you want to achieve. My Carinas wear 10-11mm Eyeco eyes, but some of my other girls wear 12mm.

    43. I brought Cherie with me outside today, took a bunch of pictures, but I can't post them all here, so one will do :) Looking so beautiful as a Fairy

    44. Wow she is very beautiful

    45. Your Carina is perfect! 10-11mm looks really good on her!

    46. Anyone here have Isis on a SID body?

    47. Really enjoying all of the lovely Iple eye candy in this thread! : )

Here's my Carina in 10mm Eyeco silicone eyes. I find that this type of eye and size works perfectly for her.

    48. Wow! Those blue eyes are so vivid! 11mm is definitely the right size for mine!

    49. Adding to the eye related spam, I've got my Iple ladies in 12mm small iris eyes.
      and another
      one more

    50. This question backfired so much, cause now I want so many more Iplehouse dolls just looking at all these beautiful photos... 12mm small iris is exactly what I have for my EID man, so I might grab a few more pairs when DollBakery opens up another preorder.. thanks so much!

    51. My Carina has 12mm eyes in this photo...

    52. The 12 mm also look very good! Is she in light brown resin?

    53. Thank you. Yes she is light brown resin...the original mix.:)

    54. Ah. It's a beautiful colour!

    55. Guess I should join in and show my Carina, Kimberly. She has 11mm eyeco eyes as I prefer a smaller iris in my dolls. She's also been painted to look mid forties in age :)

    56. She looks so real! Your faceups are always spectacular. I'm definitely checking out eyeco now!

    57. Aw thank you so much!! Eyeco eyes are the BEST, they reflect light super well!

    58. Sweet! I will have to check them out! And you are so welcome!

    59. To add to Carina spam. Here is my Brianna. I think her eyes are 12mm acrylic.
