Iplehouse Discussion ( YID, nYID, SID, EID ) Part 06

I'm honestly tempted to order a couple of those SWAT uniforms, and my characters don't even wear modern clothing! No. Bad Serai.


artisticadelle: Zombies make great monsters, but I wouldn't have any (or at least much) use for such a theme. I'd rather see more steampunk style, myself.

Adalwolf: Oh gods, Granado Gaston? Don't give them ideas!

sno4wy: Just to warn you before you get in deep - Iplehouse dolls have a way of convincing you to bring all their family and friends home too....

VampireAngel13: Aww, congrats and belated happy birthday! Glad to hear the newer body made a good impression too. ^_^ I find that the newer, basic resins have more tooth to them than the older RS dolls, which helps the posing as well. Hope to see pics when he's ready!

 

Not entirely sure where to post, but since my question is EID hero and SWAT outfits related.

Directing this to people who owns both the Super Hero EID and HID man since HID SWAT-A's tempts me in a RE6 China stage Leon Kennedy cosplay kind of way.

- Would HID clothes (semi-loose clothing would be a good enough comparison) look overly baggy on the EID Hero? I'm aware it would be long in the sleeves and legs, that might need taking in. Visual comparison if available would be much appreciated.

- I'm not even gonna mention the vest since I'm not sure if those Swat buckles could be tighten. Would have to ask again if anyone ends up getting the HID SWAT.

Failing which I'll just stick to the RE4 and Mafia version.

Thank you!!! You, know you're right. There is more tooth on him than my old one, who was very smooth and plasticy. He was ebony, tho. And the new one is NS. He looks so pale to me lol since the last time I saw one it was the DT.

Also in the "good" pile: Bane is even better in person than photos.

 

I ordered an Aaliyah on the 1st and she shipped yesterday..... What kind of sorcery is this?! Then again, after waiting six months for my Dollshe boy I guess anything would seem fast. XD But holy crap, that is fast.

Does anyone here have comparison pics of the new glow resins vs the original ones? I'm looking at the difference between glow real skin/regular real skin and then the glow lb/vs regular lb. I'm sure someone has pics

Personally I don't think I'd mind having the SWAT set be baggy either, it'll be fun to try it on my EID boys if I end up getting the HID size for my incoming Drake.

There are a few owners there that have both sizes and they may be able to try something of the HID size on an EID for you to give you an idea

I can pop Drakes full set vest on my EID's (I have both body types) but it will take a day or two as I just got him ready to go to a doll meet tomorrow >< I think the more important size issue would be body length.. and the HID's thighs are ridiculously enormous.... huuuuuge big... I also have Falcon's set so I can try the tight pants on the EID's also...

 

Hi everyone! I'm definitely new here and still trying to learn everything I can so I figured I'd try asking a burning question! My first BJD ever is an Iplehouse Soo gifted from a close friend.. I don't have any close up photos of her face-up yet (she should be arriving tomorrow!) but my friend mentioned she thought the face-up option she chose was "romantic." She purchased her many years ago & when I check iplehouse's website, their options are only designated by letter. Unfortunately it's been so long she doesn't recall much more than that.

Does anyone have any idea what option this could have been? It's not a close up so it's a bit difficult to see but she doesn't believe it was a custom. I'll definitely take more photos when I get her tomorrow!

 

I'm not really well versed in the older sculpts, having only come into the hobby with the recent Carved Heritage range dolls, but if I'm not mistaken that's actually Freezia. If I'm right she was probably the limited version 1 Freezia that has a similar outfit (but obviously not identical) as the limited Soo. Is she a YID or SID? That'll likely gauge what sculpt she is for sure, unless she was ordered through Dolls Choice of course.

If I'm wrong (and apologies if that's so ) then possibly it's the limited version of Soo, a SID, with maybe a muted version of the face up or custom... ITEM VIEW : S.I.D Limited - Woman - Soo - Tokyo story

^ Thanks so much for your reply! Neither of us are BJD collectors (this was the only one she ever bought) so my poor girl needs help with identification! I did find this photo of her that my friend sent me before shipping: unfortunately still not a close up of her face but perhaps body-wise it could help (?) She believes she's an SID.

 

that's never an SID body. SIDs have a joint right under the bust, not in the middle of the torso like she has, and her hands are slimmer than the old SID hands, too. Sculpt-wise she looks like Freezia to me, but I could be wrong (I don't own a Soo or Freezia, but I think her eyes are larger than Soo's).

 

She does look like she has the old version of the YID body before they revamped it a few years ago, but not having an older version myself I can't say for certain. I do believe it had the chest piece seperated that way on the YID, not sure about SID. Anyone here have an older model Iple who can weigh in here and confirm?

 

If I recall I THINK she purchased her somewhere between 2007-2009 if that helps, at all. Looking through doll body types and not having too much luck.

 

That does fit with the older body YID. The new body wasn't released until about 2011-2012. Here is a screen capture from their 'Making story of new YID body'...

On the far left is the old YID body, which looks like your girl to me. I can't find anything on any older SID version so I'm assuming either they didn't have the size back then or they had sculpted the SID body with that shape from the start with the intention to change he YID later down the line.

 

I agree that this is most probably an old YID Freezia on her own old-version YID body... the faceup that Forever linked to seems comparable in every way that can be seen from the photo. Although her whole body isn't visible, her hands and elbow joints are exactly like my old YID girls'. The new YID (or nYID) body is much different than the old YID body.

I don't remember how Iplehouse used to designate their faceups, or what names they used, but there was not always more than one choice on a single release. However, "romantic" does sound like them, somehow.

Although she is not a Soo, your incoming girl is very beautiful and looks to be in wonderful condition.

Edit: After seeing your photo of the nude doll, I have no doubt that she is an old YID Freezia on her proper body. Even the bag with the extra feet and changing tool is old YID.

Thank you so much everyone for your help! Her hands definitely appear to match with Jill's gorgeous hippie girl! I'll post a more detailed photo tomorrow but this is very helpful especially before I buy wigs, etc!

 

Freezia is a beautiful sculpt, she's probably my favorite of the old YID lineup. Looking forward to more pics of your girl, polarisu!

 

Congrats again on your incoming beauty! She should fit an 8-9 wig just fine and as a bonus, she is much more likely to fit standard SD13 clothes than a SID would have. Although it looks like you might be getting some very nice things with her already.

IPLEHOUSE - ENGLISH

 

I have a silly question. I have my one and only BJD who happens to be an nYID that i haven't had for very long. I've been having fun with her, but I've been messing around with posing and I have such a hard time getting her feet to stay put, they are so slippy (I know, not a word, but still the best description i could think of). Anyway, I just wanted to know if this was a normal BJD thing, or a normal Iplehouse thing, or if I'm just being a newbie and haven't figured something out? To be fair, the poor girl doesn't have shoes yet, and I imagine that could help a ton. I couldn't find anything about it in forum search, and I figured a bunch of you probably have other dolls and could tell me if it's normal and not just me.

 

sorta normal? depends on the surface she's standing on too. I have trouble with my hardwood but am fine with carpets... and I have a 'weird' trick... if you put her 'heel feet' on and just put them so the balls and heels of the feet it the surface it seems to help mine... no idea why but it works? It also take practice to get the balance 'just right' you can put some rough medical tape on the bottoms of her feet to give traction or I have 'glue dots' (for photo mounting).. like sticky silicon which might help.

So, when I say that her feet are slippy, i don't mean slipping on the surface of whatever i'm trying to stand her on, but more at the ankle...she just seems like her ankles won't stay put, but i don't really have any problems with her otherwise. I just wasn't sure if i should worry that she needs to be restrung already, of if i'm just not getting the rest of her stable enough when i'm trying to stand her up.

 

My nYID girl has had the same issue so I sueded her ankles with moleskin, here's a tutorial on how to do this!

 

Mine does that sometimes. I didn't bother sueding her ankles though since she can still stand just fine and is wearing shoes most of the time, which helps too.

 

Thank you all, I think I may have to try the sueding thing, it looks like something I can handle! And it's driving me crazy.

 

Here she is! My friend had named her "Amelia" but I slightly changed it to "Ame" to fit her wistful nature. More photos later but she most certainly looks like Freezia! I also have a bunch of wigs, clothing, shoes etc she sent me!

Jennifair: That's not unusual for Iplehouse, unfortunately. The ankles are the one joint that could still really use some re-engineering. But as artisticadelle said, there are ways to make them better. ^_^ Good luck!

^ Thank you everyone! I am absolutely in love with her! She's my very first BJD that was literally given to me as a gift. (I'm a huge toy/fashion doll collector but being a broke chick, BJD's were pretty much a pipe-dream for the future. This was entirely random and unexpected!)

Here's Ame chan actually dressed and wearing one of her wigs! Please forgive the messy hair.. I hadn't had a chance to style or brush it yet!

 

@polarisu congratulations--and what a sweetheart to get for a first bjd! You don't see them around much because I think people just keep them-- she's such a great size, too--she can wear most of the standard SD clothing you can buy from places like Alice's Collections, and those older Iples are sweet posers. I like how you've styled her!

 

I can definitely see why people would be hesitant to let go! Honestly I could never see myself selling her for any reason ;;; (I'd rather let go of my toys first!)

I've been meaning to ask if there are any reasonable stores people like buying from, specifically that sell cute styles (like lolita, fairykei, etc). I've been poking around for the past week but regarding sizes, it's all so new to me!

Hm... not sure about fairy kei, but have you tried Dollmore's SD section? They have a pretty good variety of styles. Is there anything in particular you want to find?

 

@polarisu Try here--they have a huge heap-o-loli dresses; all a bit short waisted, but that is a look:

Blue Blood is based in the US so shipping is cheaper for us.

 

Just going to jump in here with a tiny bit of wardrobe advice... Old YID Iplehouse girls are a bit taller and more long-legged than the average SD13 girl sized girl. So although SD13 dresses may work perfectly fine, fitted pants are often too short. However, if you want Loli style things for your girl, dresses will be what you are looking for most, anyway.

One very GOOD thing is regular SD and SD13 sized shoes will generally fit her, and since you got both pair of feet, your shoe possibilities are simply wonderful.

Congrats again on getting your girl home - and kudos to your generous and thoughtful friend for passing her along to you.

You might also look at Alice's Collections if you haven't already. Some of the stuff isn't cheap, though.

 

Thought I'd put it here too:

Iple have announced they are discontinuing a whole range of sculpts. Some great bargains to be had if you can jump right in and order. Sadly there are a couple of names there that were on my 'one day' list that are going.
