Iplehouse Discussion (YID, nYID, SID, EID, HID) Part 14

May 28, 2024

    1. I miss the creativity and new offerings as well. I have both the Claude Elemental Guardian and Addiction full set outfits, and the Tokyo Story Storm full set. They're all just amazing. The Claude sets are definitely used by my Claude (he's a fancy guy), but the Storm outfit is just hanging out in its box. I prefer a more casual style for most of my dolls and somehow that's always seemed hard to come by. I've had a slightly easier time with finding some clothing pieces I like from SartoriaJ for my larger ladies, but I only have a few things for my guys. It's pushed me to learn to draft sewing patterns and sew more often. I'm better for it, but being able to just purchase something that fits is nice.

I remember when it seemed like they were coming out with new things constantly and it was hard to keep up. I also remember rushing to purchase Claude, Isar, and Bliss when they came out in their respective series because I thought they weren't ever going to be released again. Claude and Isar are in Doll Choice, and Bliss is now a basic doll lol.

The only positive I can see for myself in Iplehouse slowing down/stopping on releases is that I can work on obtaining the dolls I've wanted for years that are still available without being 'ambushed' by a new limited full set. :sweat

    2. Wonderful! Thanks for the tip! have never tried this but have left a message, so will report back on what they say.

    3. Reporting back to let you know that Iple will let me order the outfit separately! I wish I knew this earlier...I'd have bought more outfits separately! Now to find some extra funds while Im paying of a GIANT two doll 4 oufit order with Sartoria...

    5. Your Pamela is so beautiful! She looks so intense. I really like her dress a lot, too.

      • x 1

    6. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!:love She is an unrated sculpt, great to see yours!

      • x 2
    7. @LyanneNZ - LOVE your Pamala! And I agree an underrated sculpt!

      • x 1
    8. Thank you! I have a second Pamela head and love her too. She has less intense looking makeup. I will have to take new photos of that one to share but here is an older photo :) She had a face up when given to me and then I painted a little extra over the top...I'd love to paint one from scratch. She has a really interesting sculpt with plenty of scope on the upper lids and mouth shape.

    9. This version of Pamela has such a soft, romantic look about her. I think her faceup is great, and whatever you did must've made it even better than it originally was. Very beautiful :daisy

    10. I've been in this hobby since 2006 and still surprise myself when I have happy accidents:abambi:
I bought this outfit for my SID Edan -> ITEM VIEW : SID - Man - SID_M Loose Fit Shirts Set
I did not check that it was for SID M - model body because I liked the set for him as it perfectly suited his character.

The outfit set comes - shoutout for Iple shipping within 24/48 hours :O - and it's lovely. The shirt fits but the pants.
My boy is the thick non-model body. The jeans got stuck at his calves. I never facepalmed so hard lol.

But they fit my nYID boy PERFECTLY so they won't go to waste.

      • x 6
    11. That's the great thing about having various sized dolls...nothing goes to waste and someone can usually wear it :)

      • x 4
    12. Very fortunate happy accident, I'd say :)

Indeed. When I was picking up the new old stock drops Iplehouse was doing about a year ago, I wasn't really too particular about the size because I have at least one of most of their sizes  Ironically, some things that wouldn't fit on my nYID Olivia (who I think has the large bust and not the glamour bust but now I'm not sure) actually do fit on my SID Eva (who I'm sure has the large bust and I made a point of not getting the glamour bust).

    13. Well my Ray and I are still struggling to come to an agreement on anything. He does look good in green eyes though. So while he and I are still not on the same page, my Mari (named Julianna) has totally stolen my heart. And all of my sewing time!

      [IMG]IMG_20250119_162809648 by hellsing365, on Flickr

Ignore my grumpy Myou girl in the background, she isn't used to another girl getting all the sewing time.

    14. Hello, Julianna! Your Mari is quite lovely, and her dress you made her is beautiful!

    15. @LyanneNZ Wow, both of your Pamela look great!! I always felt IH's face up in her promo is kinda underwhelming. It's nice to see what good face ups does for a sculpt.

@Hellsing365 Julianna is so pretty! Great job on the dress too, she looks so classy in it!

On the topic of IH's "not much new", I wish they'd also update their site's navigation. It's a confusing cluttered mess. I'd go back every so often to look at things and I wouldn't remember which links they were. Well, I finally checked out my cart of clothing last night and I'm kinda bummed the SID+ clothing section doesn't have nearly as much variety and things I like as say the FID section.

    16. @sageyufi My red lipped Pamela is a company face up but I changed her lip paint - I darkened and plumped her lips a little as mine were quite thin I felt. I'd love to paint a Pamela from scratch so maybe one day I will redo one of them :)

I will come back shortly with new photos of Kali. I tried a new outfit on her today - I just need to take photos.

    17. @LyanneNZ - Oh how did I forget you had another Pamela! :doh She is just wonderful! I'd love to paint a Pamela someday....but...her eyelids would challenge me! You did fabulous on yours.

@Hellsing365 - Ahhh Mari! Yours is lovely and very expressive. :)

While we are talking Pamela and artists faceups I have one paint by the talented Lyn Raftis. Sadly she's not currently doing faceups...but I LOVE this girl so much!:XD:

    18. Wow, your doll is incredible. Lyn Raftis did a great job on the faceup. It really complements the sclupt. I love the parted lips, too. It looks great when a faceup is done well.

      • x 1
    19. @Gamma Ray - Thank you very much! Yes Lyn did such a wonderful job on her faceup! It still amazes me how different a doll can look with a different faceup. I really miss seeing artists done faceups...

      Thanks again!<3

    24. your photos are SO beautiful @LyanneNZ and @luluna !!!

I wanted to share my Captain Jack Aubrey and Lt. Tom Pullings in their
undress uniforms. I just finished Pullings’ coat today. Jack is an EID Luo
painted by the amazing Lyn Raftis. Tom is a 71Ath SartoriaJ Demian.
I made all of their uniform pieces and their bicorne hats too.

Now to finish their wives’ outfits so they can appear together too….

    25. @Robyn_in_WA Wow!! Great job, they look amazing! I love the details! :D

      • x 1
    26. Amazing work on those costumes - so detailed. This Luo is so handsome :) You must be so happy to get these done!

      • x 1
    27. Thanks @sageyufi !! It’s been interesting finding all the bits I needed too.

Thank you @LyanneNZ !! It was certainly fun researching the uniforms too.
Didn’t Lyn do an *incredible* job painting my Luo?!?! He’s my favorite of all
male sculpts. I’m quite sad that I never managed to get a second one.
I will definitely be happy when the last dress uniform coat is done, sewing for
the guys is so much harder than for the gals and less fun (for me) too. The full
linings are always quite the job, aren’t they?

      • x 3
    28. Yes Lyn did an amazing job on your Luo. I have a Luo too and am tempted to give him a new face up but our summer hasn't been very cooperative for painting, or at least not during the time I had off work. I also enjoy the sewing for the girls more so my boys tend to just stand around looking handsome with what limited clothing they own :D I have a Luo and a Kamau in the larger dolls.

      • x 1
    29. Both Luo and Kamau were fabulous sculpts, weren’t they @LyanneNZ ?!
I had a Kamau in light brown back in the day - he was gorgeous too. I let
him go to someone who wanted him more than I did tho. This Luo tho, will
never leave. I’ve seen a few others who are just as gorgeous as mine too!

I hope that your weather cooperates soon so that you can repaint your Luo!
My guys spent a lot of time just standing around in whatever I’d found for them
too. Then a couple of years ago, I just got brave and decided to try more
garments for them. So much work tho!! The women’s clothing is SO much
more enjoyable to work on!! I’ve started a couple of Regency petticoats for
my Master and Commander women - just need one more dress too and
then they can join their men in the photos!

      • x 2
    30. I love both of those sculpts very much. I painted my Kamau a little too moody and I'd kind of like to paint him more easy going next time even though I like the actual paint work LOL...like literally wiping the frown off his face :D I also need wigs for my boys.

I am so impressed with your male clothing. I'd love to create some more one day for mine so maybe...I have sewn a little for my FID boys. Wrestling with the big dolls is more challenging now ;)

Let's see if I can find an old photo of one of my boys - I haven't taken new photos of them in a long time.

    31. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      That's one handsome dude :love

    32. @Robyn_in_WA - I'm still drooling over your lovely Luo! :D One of my favorite sculpts.

@LyanneNZ - Ahh...Kamau! Such a wonderful Iple sculpt! So handsome!

It's nice to see these classic Iple sculpts again! It's a shame they are discontinued.
While I'm in this wistful mode...here's one of my Luos...whom I call Mowgli.

      [IMG]Mowgli_2 by luluna33, on Flickr

      • x 8
    33. Oooh @LyanneNZ your Kamau is gorgeous!! You really did a great job painting him!
And his 5 o’clock shadow is spectacular!!! I hope that you keep that when you make
him a little less ‘moody’? His leather(?) coat is pretty dang sexy too!
I think you might find that sewing for the 70cm guys is rather easier than for the FID
dudes? But I agree, wrestling with them getting them dressed is not easy at all!!

Oh man @luluna your Mowgli is incredible too!!! Great wig for Mowgli too!
Who painted him? Another great face paint. I really do *adore* the Luo sculpt.

And you two take the MOST gorgeous photos of your dolls!!! totally jealous here! :)

    34. My big dolls have a place of honor on the display, but funnily enough I haven't photographed them much lately. That's cos their combined weights makes group photoshoots a backbreaker, even if I want to show off HID Scarlet's brocade robe that I spent so much time working on. :XD: Here she is with nSID Mari and their Granado Noah companion.

    37. Thank you @Quiet and Insane and @sageyufi -- I got the idea while browsing for doll clothes on LegendDoll. I do not mind buying pre-made doll clothes, but alas, sometimes the price tag is beyond budget. Since I still had some brocades and lace from my fabric-hoarding days, might as well put them to good use!

    38. Hi! I’ve recently obtained a big Iple girl (Wendy Vampire and Jessica heads) and was wondering if the 8-9 wig size was generally accurate. I’ve mostly owned anime-style and Volks dolls previously, and tried on a couple for sizing and none were even remotely workable- if I trimmed them and used a silicone cap, they’d still be very loose and visibly bulbous, even the new ones that had never been used. The single ancient 7-8 wig I had sitting fits much better. Should I just trust the process and buy wig(s) for her in the 8-9 size? For what it’s worth, most of my wigs were marketed for Volks/similar stylized dolls with bigger heads.

      • x 2
    39. @scorps - Monique wigs that fit the EID women well are size 7-8. But other styles...like Amadiz wigs the 8-9 size fits.

Enjoy your Wendy Vampire and Jessica heads!

      • x 2
    40. I find IH dolls have heads on the slightly small end of their listed size, not always but often enough to assume that most of mine are size 8 on the dot. I have some of mine in size 8/9 wigs and a good few in size 7/8 with a bit of stretchiness to the wig.
I mostly have male IH dolls, but Wendy Vampire is one of the girls I have and she fits into both 7/8s with give and smaller 8/9 wigs. I know that's a bit of a range, but based on wigs I've tried on my girl I'd say she's an 8. I'm not 100% without going and measuring mine, but feel Wendy is at lest very close to even 8 for size.. Jessica I am no help on as do not own her so can't even guess what would fit best.
      Hope that helps you.

      • x 2
    41. Would also like to add that Dollmore wigs for 8-9 size fit my Mari and Grace without looking too big, assuming those two sculpts are comparable in head size to Wendy and Jessica. (I haven't ever tried other wigs on Scarlet because her wig was selfmade.)

      • x 2
    42. It all depends on the company where you are buying from. It's a learning process (I know, I went through it in my early years of collecting the larger 1/3 ladies)
Monique wigs 7-8 USUALLY will work fine but, and 8-9 is "fuller" and may be easier to put on.
As for Iplehouse wigs their 8-9 is a bit large and a wig cap may be needed. Their 7-8 size really is too small/tight.
SJ has 2 size ladies wigs now, their 7-8 is a bit snug on the Iple ladies but fits well on their "newer" ladies as I think SJ shrunk the heads a little bit because my SJ older wigs are too big for my newer SJ ladies (and a tight fit on my Iple ladies)
My "Amadiz" 8-9 wigs for both my Iple & SJ ladies fit perfectly.
Bottom line, it's better to get 8-9 and you can use a silicone "cap" under it so that it stays in place or, buy from someone/company that allows returns.

    43. Is there anyone here who knows whether Iplehouse and Supiadoll have any compatible resin matches for their colors? I’m mostly interested in NS or one of the lighter tan colors but I’m not too picky

      • x 2
    44. Supia and Iplehouse NS are pretty close. I'd be more concerned about proportionality and compatibility, though. Supia heads are on the bigger side, and Iplehouse necks are tree trunks. Well, the girls, anyways. Don't own any boys by either company.

      • x 1
    45. im considering getting a 1/4 girl, with an FID head on a Supia minisup body, but to my knowledge there are more people collecting SD sized Iplehouse dolls, so I thought there was a better chance of getting an answer here rather than the group for small dolls

      • x 3
    46. The FID discussion group is fairly active to my memory, you'd be surprised

    47. :D :D:D
Just in case you wanted a "elf Vera" from Iple, her sculpt is up in Doll Choice, HID woman, EID woman, SID woman, YID woman.
I also noticed that "Fantasy Aaliyah" sculpt is available in the same categories.
If you want elf Aurora or elf Grace, ask on Q&A to put their sculpts in Doll Choice.

    48. I have never looked at doll choice before! Just looked now and I've completely fallen in love with Bella. Is doll choice available all the time? I can't get Bella now as I already have 2 dolls on layaway but I need to plan for her!

      • x 4
    49. Doll choice is available the 1st-15th of every month, and if you want ebony resin, if I recall, it’s only available every other month, but all the other colours are available anytime!!

    50. Oh, thanks! I honestly can't believe I've never noticed doll choice before :sweat.

    51. recently (last several months) "doll choice" has been available all the time.

    52. Doll Choice is honestly the best. That's how I got my gorgeous Leonard after pining over him since his initial release years ago.

    53. Bella is a lovely sculpt, very realistic I think. It took me ages to finally get one. She shares a body with my Raffine.

    54. @LyanneNZ she's stunning!! You're making me want her even more :D. Is she in special real skin?

When I searched for Bella on the iplehouse website only one version of her came up and it was a one off sale. Is she not a popular sculpt?

Also, I'm a bit confused by all the different bodies for the 1/3 size. Do they all have the same size heads? Is there a better one or one that's best to avoid? Or are they just different for aesthetic reasons?

      • x 1
    55. Usually, the HID,EID heads will look better on their HID or EID body, and the YID, SID heads are a bit smaller, and they look good on their bodies but, everyone is different and have put the HID/EID heads on the smaller bodies. It's a personal preference.
I can only speak of my experience=
I currently have EID Rania head on HID body, looks awesome! EID Carina & Bibiane heads I have had on HID (I currently have my Carina's on EID body, and my Bibiane head is on HID) I only have 1 YID, Rexy. She has a larger head for a YID and sometimes I put her on a small bust SID body that I have.
I have had a YID elf Vera on SID body, and because of the width of her ears, she looked good on that body.

    56. @Loganberry So the bodies vary in height and shape, and the SID model boys and girls pose differently. (I think nicer/smoother).
The girls can all pretty much share heads across the board no issues as their necks are close enough between body types. Though I'd says some smaller heads could be awkward on the bigger girl bodies. Than again I have an EID Aurora elf head on the male SID model body and I think that looks fine for fit and size so shrug. (He was last of that option in Doll Choice before IH stopped letting you order girl heads on the SID male bodies)
Also as I typed this it looks like someone already answered you. XD

      • x 3
    57. If I recall correctly, Bella is only available during the add-a-head sale or in Doll Choice.
Did a split with a buddy - I wanted the body, and they wanted the Bella head. I thought - cool. Not really a sculpt I want.
She is SO STUNNING in person. Now I want one!

      • x 2
    58. I'd also like to think that depending on the sculpting style of the female heads, there can be curious visual illusions when placing them on various bods. Here's an older photo of my Mari on the nSID body and Scarlet (another of those not-so-popular sculpts) on the HID female. Resin color aside, they could swap bodies if they wanted to, and even share wigs. But because Scarlet's face is more angular, it looks like they have different head sizes.
