Iplehouse Discussion ( YID, nYID, SID, EID, HID ) Part 11

first Keep Luna as is... This sculpt was discontinued a few years ago and you can't get 'her' at all. And as was mentioned Iple when through major changes in resin formula so matching would be difficult in the extreme if possible at all. And yeah ONLY the chimera body had magnets for the tail.
Some body details have been redone mostly for aesthetics...Like more elegant hands etc. Frankly GreenTeaSlug is right... log in and start snooping... Look at the site like you have never seen it before... start from scratch... you have missed a huge amount of changes that happened with iple. and nearly to much to succinctly cover in one or two posts LOL.

That being said they have a new FID size Luna (fashion doll size... think a bit bigger than JID but slimmer body... just go look lol) She IS definitely not the Luna you know... but she's still gorgeous.

 

What clothes fit the new SID girl? While I wait, I am buying stretchy clothes but can someone direct me to a list?

 

@Ryuichi Sakuma 13 - I like the red hair on her! very cute. ^_^ Just to add to what the others have said, when they upgraded the joints it was a noticeable improvement, but unfortunately the ankles weren't part of that. Like GreenTeaSlug said, the HID body is better. Maybe if the FID version sells well enough, they'll consider making a renewal version like they did for a couple other sculpts? It wouldn't hurt to let them know if you'd be interested in that! (Part of me still regrets not getting a Luna head in LB in that last sale, myself.)

After looking at the IH site, seeing that most of the changes were aesthetic and hearing that the gray has gone from rose gray to lilac gray, I don't think I want to give her a different body. For me, poseability is the most important thing. It doesn't sound like they did much to improve that. I'm glad Twyla came with the mobility joint, it helps her poseability. And thank you for the link.

Twyla was my grail, so when I came into a little money back in 2014, someone was selling her human self, so I snapped her up. I had also been watching a number of feline parts, so I contacted all the sellers and bought those as well. I feel so lucky that I was able to do that! I wasn't able to find her outfit, but I put together something similar, so I'm okay with that.

I've already wired her, and taken out her elbow components as back then, people said that it improves her elbow movement. It seems to work. She doesn't need washing, but perhaps she could use fresh sueding, its been a while since I've been able to do that. Fortunately, the hot glue sticks I ordered came in the mail yesterday, so I'll suede her sometime soon.

@Lady Tiku, I was more wondering if it would be worth it to give Twyla a newer body. For me, its not worth the hassle since poseability hasn't been improved very much. I suppose I'm spoiled by having mostly Luts Cerberus Project BJDs. Twyla's my only Iplehouse, and will more than likely remain so for the foreseeable future. Not to mention the hassle with me trying to put in a magnet for her tail. No thanks!

I've been snooping like you suggested, and wow! There is a lot of sculpts that I don't recognize, not to mention the HID bodies. They had just started coming out when I last took a really good look at the site. And now they have FIDs too! I'm glad to see that Luna is still around, she's always been one of my favorite sculpts. She looks a bit younger as a FID, but still has those wide, gorgeous eyes. Now I really want to get Twyla new eyes, for both of her heads!

@Sianserais, I love her with red hair! But her feline self will more than likely have purple hair, since in her universe, everything changes when she changes.

I do have a Luna in RS, actually, I just was tempted to get a second one. I'm not sure if I've ever seen the sculpt in LB, though. I keep meaning to take some photos of my Luna in her new outfit and eyes and not getting around to it!

 

I have a similar question about finding clothes for Twyla's EID butt! I need to find someone that I can afford that's willing to make 1950s style clothes for her human self. Her feline self wears more modern clothes, so she can wear stuff off of the IH site in that instance.

Heck, do what I do. Plop her down on the nearest chair and snap a quick pic!

I'd love to see another Luna, and I'm curious as to what an owner's pic of a Luna in RS looks like. That's "Real Skin," correct? I'm still getting used to IH abbreviations.

I actually had boxes and stuff in the way of getting to some of my dolls for a while there , but I've finally cleared most of it out. And yes, Real Skin or "Special" Real Skin as Iplehouse still calls it - if you look at the options on the dolls you'll see it listed as "Special Real" and the Glow (slightly translucent) version as "Glow SR." So in other words, SRS, RS, SR, gRS and GSR are all acronyms you might see for (practically) the same color! (I can't help but think of "Gun-Shot Residue" for GSR myself... I've watched too many crime-dramas/true-crime shows. ) We were using RS a lot in the waiting rooms when I joined, so I tend to default to that, but obviously Iplehouse prefers SR. I suppose I ought to switch.

Recently I've been feeling a bit disconnected from my dolls and I realized today that my taste has just... shifted. Right into the Iplehouse alley, of all places XD I think I'm about to sell some dolls so I can splurge on a couple of Iple boys... *sweats*

A new EID man is going to be unveiled - Dylan!


Looks like its a continuation of the Death theme, since he is named Hades ruler of Death. He will be coming with a skeleton spear and a Kynee? I dont know what that is, and google is correcting it to Kanye and when searching for the correct term, Im getting snow spot equipment (maybe to go along with Camille's hockey stick?!) lol. I dont know what that is but im curious!

His sculpt, based on the preview looks very promising, he's like a mix of Lawrence (those beautiful full lips and jawline) and Chris's cold stare. I hope he has a thin face with a V shape chin like Bane.

I got Kali in grey, and the interesting part is that you get the points instantly when the order is confirmed, not like they usually do (after its delivered). I wonder if maybe Dylan will have the same sort of promotion, but I really doubt it. Im a sucker for anything dark themed.

@Hakari-chan they are addicting! Its like having a model agency filled with beautiful faces. I was like you, got Volks as my first doll and then I got attracted to realistic sculpts lol, its like starting the doll hobby all over again when you get your frist realistic doll! Which sculpts are you interested in?

@Mahgiep It took me a bit to recognize that sculpt, I love how you customized him so differently than the usual Evans, I must admit, I wasnt big on that sculpt but you make him look so trendy, and attractive! Ive noticed your talents have grown significantly since I first started following you. Hope you had an amazing Christmas with the family and friends

@Sianserais Everytime you use that backdrop, I want to start playing kingdom hearts again - its that beautiful stained glass backdrop! Your Luna is beautiful and looks like she was popular this year, 3 presents! Unless, those are gifts she's giving away?!

@Lotte Rotten you definitely want the mobility joints.... it makes them stand easier, and rotate their legs better (I dont use it for that sitting position tbh). I have only one doll without the mobility joints, and cant help but feel regret whenever I handle him. The mobility joint is worth every penny for the stability and ease of movement it gives.

 

@GreenTeaSlug thank you but I didn't do the face up on Evan. I modified the eyes to look smaller/more Asian. Pepstar did it. I bought him secondhand from her. But thanks for the compliment on my progress! Happy New Year

 

So they're doing both Death (Kali/Thanatos) and the ruler of the Underworld (Dylan/Hades). I'm a little surprised they didn't go for Persephone, but maybe that was the point of making Thanatos female. Or maybe Persephone will be next. They could definitely do something interesting for her outfit - say, a combination of green and orange textures representing Spring and Autumn?

@GreenTeaSlug - She's probably giving them away, since she's already wearing her gifts. Her dress is made of two different SJ outfits plus an overskirt from an etsy seller, and after months of failure I finally found a pair of eyes that work - which happened to be antique hand-blown ones from Germany. I'd say she's spoiled, except that this is the first time I've specifically bought anything for her in years.



Edit: Does anyone happen to remember what month those Special Edition SRS versions of Jessica, Luna, and Yur were offered? I think my Luna is coming up on ten years old, but I haven't been keeping track of dates, unfortunately.

@Lady Tiku - There are a lot of great FIDs, but honestly after having so many MSDs in the past I'm definitely craving some of the larger dolls! I'll probably get one and see how that does for me. Plus it's so much easier to find a range of mature clothing and shoes for the larger dolls which would make for a really nice change. I own mostly minifees atm so finding good quality 'mature' clothes that fit slim minis is... a struggle I am quite tired of 8'D

@GreenTeaSlug - Gosh they really are like models though, so unfair, ahah! I just love how striking their features are and the wide variety they come in And oof, I've got quite a few that really want (SID Eric, Shane and Vincent, EID Rex, YID Chris), and others I'd very much like to have (SID Grace, Mari, and YID Justin and many more 8'D). They're all just... so pretty, dammit ToT

I keep seeing posts in Iplehouse threads with people mentioning they got a doll with a different doll's faceup, and I was just wondering, is there a reference thread or something for that? It sounds interesting, and I'd really like to see all the ways they translate faceups onto different sculpts.

 

there is no special thread ... it's just ppl getting custom face up work done. There is no 'refernce'

 

I think the databases on DoA where that information could be located has not been used in a while. One thread looks like the last post was 2015 and the other in 2018 has quite a few broken photo links. Here are the links to them, if anyone is interested in posting and/or viewing.

When I ordered my Doria I asked for Aileen's Limited Edition 'B' make-up. Because of the resin color, I had to order her through doll choice. They also allowed that make-up choice to be just 'make-up' in the doll choice area rather than custom or special make-up (which were the two options at the time). I think now they have dropped special make-up and only have the custom option.

Ah, no, I didn't mean reference thread like "here's where you get references", I meant a thread like "Show me all your dolls with custom faces by Iplehouse!" or something like that. Sorry, might have worded that wrong...I just think it's an interesting concept and I haven't heard of any other companies that do it.

And Luna is used to 'odd things'... she lives with a Trinity (dollmore) lol. And I'm two weeks away from my BID Mo-a order being 3 calendar months. I'm thinking mini boys will be happy to borrow some flintlocks! But the bonus points for Kali mean I can get Oscar home faster... I'm at 283 points now! XD hoarding is good lol

I've been i really rough shape this year... I have not toched my big girl much unless to just move her around what im doing... I really went to FID's so i'd have dolls easier to manage lol... I haven't been able to play with them even this month (too afraid of dropping right now). If I can get my pain meds I hope to have some doll time... but they fall ino opiod catagory so doctor being *insert horrible word here* and making me jump hoops instead... which is part of the reason i wish my BID would show up soon >< I have some pics thru facebook (Alzora Lucinda)...

 

@Sianserais Where did you find that glass? Haha, a Trinity could probably wear FIDs as earrings...

I used some of my wool oddments to make sweaters...

 

@Lady Tiku - Ah, sorry to hear it. It's almost funny how doctors were practically pushing opioids on people like my mother for years and now they've done such an about-face. Ridiculous. I hope you can get that sorted out soon! I'm not on Facebook for personal reasons, and it won't let me view your photos without logging in, but that's okay.

@ResinRapture - I believe I got it as a free gift with an order from tatabjd.com earlier this year. I don't see them being sold separately, but it looks like it was part of a set sold here. The sweater looks nice! Love the colors!

@Vivian Nguyen - No, she was being offered as an EID, and I went with that because I didn't want her to be as tall as my HID Carina. (Of course that means she still has those old-style ankle joints, which is the one thing I really wish they'd update on that body.) Oh, and just to clarify, she's in LB resin, even though it looks like she could be RS in this photo!

@DollInk - Well, Camilla just took 3 full months to get to me, but first-offering LE dolls aren't generally the fastest to ship. Of course, neither are Doll Choice orders for that matter, so you may be looking at a similar wait. It's the slow time of year, unfortunately.
