Hey guys, I got a question to the SID male owners with model bodies.

I want to buy an Edan and since hybriding and getting a single Iple head is a nightmare, I somewhat accepted a SID it is for him.
I prefer 70cm bodies, so I was glad to see the SID model was a tad taller than the regular body.
However, the wrists and ankles are really thin on pictures and I've heard some heads might look odd on the body too.

Now my question:
How apparent is this in real? Especially the thin limbs? In some of the Iple pics I get serious Doll Chateau feelings at times because they look so thin

 

You tell me .... I love the body, mostly because he poses so much better than the old SID:

Edited to add: I feel the body is a lot more realistically proportioned, unlike the beefcakes that are old SID and EID dudes. Each are amazing in their own right, depending on how much muscle mass you want.

 

not a fan of the long neck O_o...and I had wanted the SIDm model... will have to see more and with different wigs I think. And Omar was shortlisted as my choice This look just seems so young even for Yur . But Kali is on the new SID body and seemed right.... boy I hope i find a sculpt for the SIDmm lol. I will admit fully covered is better. And I have to tell you. Half the guys in high school when i went... were built like the original SID boys lol and more than a few you could tell would end up like HID... like two of my cousins lol They were MASSIVE... But I'm used to small and packed.

 

No they are VERY thin. I briefly owned one - sold him immediately after he arrived. The ankles and wrists do have a DC vibe (which I love, but not for a non-DC doll if that makes sense?), and the sheer amount of popped out veins all across the body is super creepy.

 

sorry I just had to share my thoughts too lol and omg doll chateau lol.... but i can see what you meant @Ara lol they really do seem thin limb'd. I think I'd always have to add something at the wrist if i did short sleeve's it might help?

 

I prefer the original SID boy body...at least for the characters they currently reside in.
The body still has slim lines...more like the EID Model body...

Oh how I wish I'd seen a lad like this back in high school. LOL

I guess it depends on the mix in your crew. In mine, compared to the other guys (and gals), the old SIDs with their bulk and smooth faces look like teens on steroids ... the new SID fits in much better. But in a crew of ripped dudes the new SID probably looks like a stick insect by comparison.

 

I hear ya, if I would had a boyfriend that looked that good in high school, he would be my hubby now! I do love the original SIDM body, it is truly drool worthy!

Honestly, if there was a way to get the head on a regular 70cm body without much drama I'd be happy, but alas...

Only other sad thing is that I doubt he can still wear his outfit with the SID Body. Was a nYID one, Imperial Guard. Need to find something similar then.

well "I" like him!... i like the ones who can be broody or not and he fits the bill. Only my EID mens needs are filled ?\>< or if i had the 'extra' $ I would have lol I think he's gorgeous by the way.

 

@Lady Tiku Thank you! I am happy I am not his only fan ^^ It took me a year to decide to buy him, and I am so glad he didn´t disappoint me. I love his darker features, and especially his nose - which is rather big and very manly

So I heard that Asa on the EiD body might not work/look right? Does anyone happen to have those and can check for me?

Also I got my EiD body in and I'm in love. She needs a head.

Omg after two months my Evan fiiiinally arrived. XD; I don't have a thing for him to wear because I was afraid to get him something and jinx it.

Holy heck, he's MASSIVE. I knew they were big but wow. XD;;; He's so loose he can't even sit up so I'm going to have to try to restring him soon which is kind of scary on something this big. XD;;; Right now he's just draped across my desk wearing the only spare 9/10 wig I have. XD;;; (Iple... These buttflaps tho. What were you thinking? XD)

Also, does anyone happen to know how Iplehouse Special Real Skin looks in comparison to Impldoll Real Skin?

 

Haha yeah he predates that a lot. XD; His CoA is dated December of 2008 so he's very early. I think he's the old real skin tone? He's gorgeous. Fortunately he came with his instruction manual for stringing so that'll be less of a scary thing lol.

Congratulations @Cap'n Also, I just took this picture, using a bright white LED lamp (very much like sunlight)

The legs on the left are Impldoll Real Skin, the ones on the right are Impldoll new Brown skin and the arm is an Iplehouse FID in Real Skin (non- french/whatever they call the transparent kind) Personally, I have found it pretty easy to match a darker tone, and even once matched a pinker tone to a yellower tone "normal) with pastels. Good faceup artists will do an excellent job matching as well. Anyway, my point being, I would bet it'd be easy to match Impldoll's brown from a real skin head (head to match body, as it's painted anyway, and much smaller real estate to match) Only issue is, if he already has a faceup, then I don't think either color is close enough Though Impldoll will match resin color, you'd have to send them something and risk it getting lost in the mail

Thanks so much for the reference! I know Impldoll is notorious for having orange-tones resins and that's not as bad as I was expecting. Do you think Impldoll real skin could (easily) be blushed to match Iplehouse real skin? I have a real skin eid body and I found an Impldoll head I like.

 

@Cap'n Oh no, as far as I know, their tan is still orange. My darker girl is in their new "brown" color which isn't always updated as a choice on the web pages, though I'm certain they will do any doll in that color, as they've always been accommodating.

But beware. they do tend to confuse their own color names

Oh I know lol I remember when Cocori was new and exciting instead of nearly forgotten. XD; I had a nice trip going down memory lane looking through the website to find their old resin color comparison to figure out what color he is while I was waiting for him. XD (and then again to confirm once he arrived because Mandarake doesn't always take the best pictures color-wise) So many pretty long-discontinued dolls that I remember coming out, it feels so weird. XD; I was more into Volks and CP Luts then but I did have my eye on several. (Where's my FID Akando/Evan/Kamau, Iple? ;~; You did Tedros and Luna!)

 

So another question..... (I know I have a lot but I'm new to modern Iplehouse.)

Wtf is up with Iplehouse ankles? Or lack thereof?!? Like why is there no joint, just leg to foot. Has anyone managed to maybe sculpt an actual ankle joint onto theirs? Or changed out their feet?

For reference I only have a female EiD so I'm not sure if all of their bodies have these awful ankles. Once upon a time I owned an old YiD Barron and I don't remember him having no ankle joint like this.

 

it doesn't help that IH seems to be continually 'tweaking' their colors with 'advances' in resin. but I find it interesting that Cocori was like unique as a dark resin doll... They have not really put out an "ebony" as pretty in color as they used to and I wonder if IH's new resin formula's just can't match the old french resin ebony... not that I'll ever have one... a bit too rich for my blood. LB made my wallet want to shrivel up into nothingness lol. RS is the most i go now.

 

sorry for double post... the ankle thing is purely a part of their aesthetic thing... the new SID dolls have different ankles now (im getting my first one so i can't speak with experience yet). They tried to make up for it with the mobility thigh joint

 

@Cap'n - The female HID bodies have a new ankle joint. As is the female FID as that is the same body as a HID but...smaller.

 

The new ankle joints on the HID and the nSID bodies are sure *much* nicer than the original!
It's a shame that we can't retro-fit all of our gals with them. Especially the nYID who seem
the most wobbly on the ankles.

I wanted to share a commissioned wig that I recently received for my favorite nYID gal - Audrey.
@Erlif made this wig for me and it's quite perfect for Audrey! Audrey is also trying out a
Feeple60 corset made by Raouken (etsy) - the fit is pretty good too. (she has a small bust)

 

@Robyn_in_WA I love Erlif Mith wigs! Just got 2 new ones for non IH dolls and I love them.

 

Please everybody, I need help. After "forced" restringing my SID female body: (I was trying to change her normal feet to heels, made mistake and boooooooms) she is unstable because of this "think" for pose-stability in hips. Body is from 2019, old type, no mobility thighs joint. Elastic is original Iple. Is there some magic trick to put this strange thingy-chips in hips slots during restring? I am beginner, she is my first Iple (only have female DollShe26F). I welcome any advice or solution.

 

@susana789 the first thing you can try is looking for restringing YouTubes. Just watching them helps so much (how they go together, tools used, etc.). I don't have a ton of experience with restringing (Maybe 5 times) but the first time is the worst and it gets better. Once you have her back the way you should, you will have less fear when this stuff happens. In a way, it's good to get past the trepidation early on. But I know that doesn't help right now. I'm sure others can help with now.

 

@susana789 They also have the restringing guides on Iple directly. Link here but if that doesn't work, you will need to login, then go to the green tab at the top that says "Iple BJD" , go down to where it says "Body review" (usually an image link for me), then click the SID body, then SID woman, and make sure it goes to that page, THEN click the assembly manual.The hips and the odd piece throw me for a loop often, this is the only of my dolls I regularly have to have the instruction booklet out to understand which way everything should face.

Mahgiep thanks, I found one YT video with Iple man body, but there must be some trick because her moves are not so fluent. Ice Mutt, this is great info about Iple customer service - tip for assembly manual at Iple site is great. My body is SH from DoA. According assembly manual there is no secret, but maybe it is all about trying and putting correctly every little part of leg. I have trouble with this hook, so definitely must juts play with it little bit more.

 

@susana789 I removed those things in the hips when I restrung mine, used hot glue to suede her hips and she poses way better than she did with them in. Her legs don't flop around now because they fit better in their sockets, she's more stable than she ever was. I took them out of my EID man after that and he's a million times better too.

 

VampireAngel13, Ice Mutt, Mahgiep thanks a lot. I think I go for VampireAngel13 solution. I think about every part in doll as must-stay solution, so I just need to be more creative. My DollShe is under reconstruction so I just got one more body to do.

I've been contemplating getting my 2nd IH girl recently! Lahela has stolen my heart. My first girl was from 10 years ago, so things have changed since then and was wondering a few things.

• What is the difference between the EID Woman body from 2010 and the EID Woman body now?
• Can I request comparison photos of the EID Woman and HID Woman bodies apart from the company photos? What are the clothes/shoes that they can share between them?
• Can I request photos of Light Brown, Dark Brown, Special Real and Glow Special Real girls/boys?
• What is the difference between Special Real and Glow Special Real? That price jump between them is insane O.O
• Is the mobility thigh recommended? Does it help immensely in terms of posing?

Your Diana(Yur) looks very pretty there. It's nice to see the original.

I can try to answer some of your questions.

* some of the difference between new EID body and old EID body is that the newer one, doesn't have the slit on the front of their thighs. Their curves are a little smaller and their feet are smaller as well. Their hands are different too.

*not sure if I have a pic to share

* the difference is that back in 2014 they stop making the resin with French resin, so the skin looks more Matte. The Glow resin gives it that more translucent look that the French resin gave it. So it's more expensive.

* in regards to clothes. HID is more slender tho she has toned up and taller, but they can wear the same shoes.

* I know some people like it in their dolls to help with posing, but I personally do not. I find that it distract from the beauty of the leg, and at times drives me crazy especially with the boys, as it tends at times to swivel around inside their pants.​

 

@kagami- After reading Bren's above post...I was reminded that the legs not only don't have the slit but the old EID female had a different sculpt (nicer imo legs) than the new EID. The new legs are fine...but I do like the older legs.

Also you get different hands now also.

You are so right about their legs. At least I think so and totally agree with you. Especially about the knees, like the old knees much better. But to each their own.

@Bren Your point about the mobility thigh distracting from the beauty of the leg is also what's making me hesitate over that option.

By the legs/knees, do you mean the sculpting or the engineering? I do love the shape of Diana's legs, but at the moment, her right knee peanut keeps sliding back into her thigh once the knee is bent to or past 90°. It's quite frustrating because I am constantly taking off her pants to fix it. Is there a hack that I am not aware of? Are the knee peanuts still being used in the new EID/HID bodies?

 

I guess aesthetically it depends on how often your doll has bare legs. If their style is loose pants or long dresses it won't really matter. I got them on my Yur because she's pretty much never going to have them showing and I prefer more posing ability in general, we'll see how I feel when she arrives(I don't expect her until at least October, they've been taking longer with orders and I know it takes them longer to get the dark brown resin right). My Evan has them but I won't be able to see how I feel about them until I can get him restrung. XD;

Question, as I look at getting him some clothing, how does Sartoria J clothing fit on EID superhero bodies? Most of it looks like it's on the model body which is smaller and some of it is pretty tight. >_>;

 

@kagami The newer EID bodies don't have that frustrating issue with the knee peanut you will be pleased to know

 

@Ian-KunX You're getting a Yur in dark brown? That's amazing~ I can't wait to see her! I've been looking around for dark brown resin owner photos too, but have not had much luck apart from one or two. I'm so curious to know what that colour is like..

@kagami - Yes the peanut inside the leg is gone...but they also are a new sculpt on the outside. The old EID legs looked more athletic to me...the knee especially.

 

My second EiD body is out for delivery currently. First one's head hasn't even come in yet so looks like I'll have two headless EiD girls for a bit.

Edit: She's here! I plan to hyrbid the left girl but girl on the right will have her Asa head soon. This is Chi Chi (normal skin) and Sizzy (special real skin) and they're sisters.

 

Yes, I got to say that some of the engineering of the old EID knees was at times a pain in the butt. A few of the EID, not most of mine (thank goodness), did have that peanut problem that was most annoying, so in that respect the new EID has solved that problem. And yes. there is actually a tutorial here, to fix that problem with a watch band pin to keep the two pieces together. I bought a old EID male last year and he had that work done by his previous owner, it works perfectly.

In regards to sculpting or aesthetics, I do like the old EID knees better.


you were wondering about their Dark brown color. Now there I can help you out. I love LT browns color of Iplehouse and they did change the color for a few years, then they went back to their lt brown and changed their new lt brown formula name to Dark brown.

here is their now, lt brown Elle and Dark Brown Baron ( tho for a time, they used to called it the new Lt brown)

Your dolls are gorgeous and those are such lovely skin tones too.. Gosh, I still can't decide which colour I prefer! That GRS vs RS is super helpful too! I see that GRS is slightly darker? I can't really tell if there is a translucency though, they're both gorgeous nonetheless
