@SapphireStargazer You make excellent points again about skin. I want a tanned Tony and I kinda like the Anti-UV colour, even if its just good company photos. But I love the tone on Sapphire Rose. She looks so fierce! I love it!

 

@A Wee Tiefling - Thanks! She doesn't usually look that fierce, though lol. The regular real skin is my favourite among the IMPL skin colours that I've actually seen in person. I've never seen the anti-UV tan in person so I can't say if it's actually tan or just another shade of orange. I'm planning to get my Tank in the anti-UV brown skin colour. IMPL released the anti-UV brown not long after I Zera, my Alma, in a custom brown colour, and from pictures I've seen of the anti-UV brown, the colours are very similar although the non-custom one may be a bit warmer tone. In person, Zera is the colour of cocoa

 

@SapphireStargazer that orange tan was DZ, right? During their carrot phase? Maybe just having him nearby could improve eyesight.

@Girrl to be honest, I do detest Instagram, but shit cellphone shots are all the rage, apparently, because all the random crap I post there gets way more interest than anything I actually put effort into for Flickr. I have a great disdain for that fact in particular. To think that something which requires no effort, thought or skill whatsoever is apparently more valued than something that does require time, thought, effort and skill is infuriating to me. But I'm on there because my best friend wouldn't leave me alone about it, so... *shrug* I find most social media annoying in one way or another, if I were to be perfectly honest about it. I've given up entirely on Tumblr, and I never had accounts on FB, Reddit, Pinterest, or any of the other usual suspects. Flickr and Twitter are about it for me, and I hardly ever tweet, either.
But...gotta keep this on topic, right? I gotta say, I looove Lucie's jewelry!

@chalyss I'm not sure about DZ, but I can tell you that IMPL tan is decidedly orange. I had a tan IMPL doll from 2013 that was so far from what I would consider "tan" that I nearly cried when I unboxed her. lol...I think it'd take more than carrot orange resin to improve my eyesight, but that's a whole other story

 

I´m so happy right now! Found a female star body for my Azaela on the marketplace within the EUsaves save me so much on customs that I imediatly put it on an one month layaway and don´t order from them directly to get an event item. I have no use for rolling heads anyways and now everyone have a body Time to work on their outfits and I thinks I invest in more alpaca fur wigs. I got one for my Iplehouse FID and it´s a dream.

@SapphireStargazer, I hear ya! I am on IG but so very very rarely. I have a hard time keeping up with FB which I barely bother with. (And so many people just assume if you put it on FB that the world will see it... so I never know what's going on.) Flickr is my main thing too. But EEEEK! Wow! Impl's tan shifts now and then but I had never seen it that orange! How very sad! I'm glad I didn't buy tan from them that year! The tans I've gotten from them are all a nice caramel, like DZ's old tan, DF-H's tan, Dika doll tan (that one if a bit redder though) and old AoD tan. Very pretty colors.

Anyone have pics of a muscle girl body with a head on it? I have seen no owner pics but have heard that some have them!

Okay, so I've been lurking and pawing through old threads and I thought it best to finally just ask-

I want to order a Nicolas before the sale is over but I've been waffling about the TGB body as the neck looks too thin to me. @MaryamDN mentioned something about them developing a thicker neck for this body? Has this happened? Does anyone have pictures? I want that if I can figure out how to get it!

Secondly, I would really be grateful if anyone could provide unclothed comparison photos between the TGB body and some other 70cm guys, be they Dollshe, Resinsoul, Idealian, etc... even the older generation bodies would be fine as it seems the size is comparable... just something I may have seen in person! x_x I may have to order a different body if I can't get a thicker neck.

yeah he made 12 cm necks for them and now it works fine. mine is on the Souldoll terra zenith body though. he'll look great on SOOM ID . not so much DS in my opinion. i mean it's not BAD but i do prefer the smaller heads on DS28M even though it really is a lovely body. couldn't really say about resinsoul.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to thank you all for answering all my questions previously. I've finally decided to go for the Idol body for my Chad head. =D (Decided against the Miro one). So excited that all this is finally coming together.

Now, my question is, had anyone tried putting the Soom MD fantasy legs on the Idol body? I think I saw it done once... But I'd like to hear some more advice, and possibly see some reference pictures. I'd be hybriding the newest male Idol body with either the Chrom, Wolf, or Phonolus leg parts. Hands too, but those aren't a high priority at the moment.
I'm cool with some modding, and I'll have to do blushing regardless.

I ordered a Nicolas on the TGB in WS through Alice's Collections because I picked up some jointed hands from Doll Legend as well. Still had some reservations about the body itself, but I couldn't miss the sale. The site photos looked terrible to me, (shiny resin is so not my thing) but every time I saw owner photos I changed my mind. Hopefully that bodes well for me liking it more in person. A coat of sealant should kill the shine, I'd say, and blushing will bring out his details...

At any rate, though my wallet is hurting due to the exchange, I'm very excited for Nicolas! I've been keeping my eyes peeled for years for such a manly realistic sculpt, and seeing him was an instant fit. He's going to embody two characters; a handsome finicky modern businessman and his alter ego, a flesheating warlord who lives in the underground ruins of an abandoned castle. Not sure how I will do both justice with his faceup, ahaha...

Thanks for your help, @MaryamDN! Your Diego is so very handsome! I keep saving pictures of him as an example of the sculpt because the sale photos do not do him any justice. Are those 5mm Snowbars irises you have in him? I'm going to need to go the custom eye route as well and those look like a good fit-- I'd almost consider 4mm because he's supposed to look pretty freaky/unstable. Do you think that would be too small?

You can also make the doll more matte with magic eraser (a microabrasive) or very fine sandpaper.

I've used it a bit on my Nicolas' face (only works for light skin dolls, and I've confirmed for Special Brown Anti-UV, but perhaps other Anti-UV browns would work; usually you avoid sanding tan because it ends up lighter)

 

I had magic eraser green my old tan head... it's powerful (and that tan was known to be unstable, I just didn't expect it to bleach!) so I am saying, yeah, it'd probably matte the shine down! As would some matte spray.

 

Thank you for the suggestion. I hadn't considered a light sanding. He'll be getting scars and body blushing, so a less slick surface might even help with the longevity of the sealant too.

I'll be sure and come back with pictures in ... ah... several months.

i'm really hoping impl will make more like him. the new guy they made is the same style but not really my taste. i hope he makes a few more guy for the model line
i think the impl body is nicer in person personally. i'm not using impl for nic but you're absolutely right, a coat of sealant does get the job done. the DL hands are just a touch too small for the Impl bodies, having said that, i have the clawed version on my Impldoll chad :P again a matter of taste more than anything :P my grail jointed hands are Soom ID hands and i would love to get a pair of spiritdoll Herculean hands for my bigger boys.

 

Hm, and I'm one who prefers fairly large hands... Well if they are too small I suppose my Saint may inherit them. I couldn't resist that extra thumb pad joint. Roughly, what is the length of the hands on the male Idol bodies?

ignore color missmatch...i was in the batch that got the replacement neck and upper arm piece so the chest is closer to their new real skin....the DL NS matched Impl's old real skin better.
the size isn't terrible...it's just kind dainty :Pin hind sight i would have paid the extra $30 + shipping and got the Herculean hands

 

That does help! Hm... I like the long spindly fingers, but it IS rather dainty for what I want. Looks like the long nail Soom Idealian hands are about twice the price and don't even come with seam sanding and assembly... and it doesn't look like Spiritdoll makes theirs with a long nail option. Definitely open to any other suggestions, otherwise I may may have to mod.

 

those are the largest in the market as far as i know (soom and spiritdoll) but i'm pretty sure a long nail mod is quite easy it you're patient ^^ SOOM ones are insanely pricey and they only role around every once in a blue moon.

 

I knew I had seen a tutorial for doing long nails somewhere... Pinterest never fails me. She uses drinking straws.

Drinking straws sound like a great option! I was just about to suggest cutting down acrylic nails, but drinking straws sound like they'd work better scale wise.

I jumping into this thread again after a bit of a break. I owned and sold a Vanessa on the original 65cm Star body with the hidden thigh slots. I had bought the head separately and then the body after, both grey resin and unfortunately they didn't match so I set about spray painting the entire doll in grey and then applied heavy blushing and detailing. She was a lot of fun, but I didn't want to keep up the spray painting with every chip and rub of paint soooooooooo I sold her and now I've ordered a second in a custom resin type but this time on the idol body. I'm really hoping that impl pull through on my custom request as the resin type I've selected isn't something I've seen them do before. Either way, sorry for babbling and I will be back to share her once she arrives!

 

He has good taste - I've got a pair of New Rocks (not those) and while they weigh in at around 15lbs, they are the comfiest boots I've ever owned. 10 years on, and they still look almost the same as when I bought them and still feel like walking on marshmallows (heavy, post-apocalyptic marshmallows, but still. And I can walk through 4 inches of standing water, no worries about my feet getting wet)

 

What type of resin is it?

 

I'll be sharing that once she arrives. I don't want jinx myself by blabbing too much about it and have it turn up and look nothing like I hoped, as I know custom resin can be hit and miss! I have had a look elsewhere though and can't find anything like what I have requested

Hey guys! I'm managed to scoop up one of my grails from the MP. He's a Miguel the Demon Hunter in grey resin. He's actually en-route to me right now *bounces*. He's been spray painted black so I've got a LOT of scrubbing in my future to get him back to grey resin, but I'm insanely excited to finally get my hot little hands on him. I'm still working out his name but I do know that he fits in my Divine Worship world and is the God of Destructive Transformation and fraternal twin to Ra-Sui (SD Azrael skull head), God of Decay & Guardian of Souls.

I did see on the Impl site that his head is of a size to take an 8/9 wig. One of my questions is whether his bone horns (or whatever you want to call them) interfere with him being able to wear a wig off-the-rack, so to speak. I have a couple of dolls who's ears make it hard/impossible to wear a regular wig and I've modded their wigs so they do work. I was just wondering if that was also going to be a thing for this guy (I hope not as re-working a wig is a pain).

I also went looking for eye size and it appears he might wear 14mm but I couldn't find anything definitive on the site that said he wears X size eyes. He's coming to me with some very nice eyes which may or may not work for his character and I have the requisite Bag 'O Eyes (tm) that every doll owner ends up with. Given that he's still in transit and may be held hostage by the evil Customs Canada, I figure I have some time before he actually ends up on my doorstep and I'd like to be able to sort through the eyes I have to see if I've something suitable for him.

 

CONGRATS!! He has always intrigued me! He sounds like a blast to work with and I know he'll be stunning! Can't wait to see what you do! I found one pic of him with a wig on and not sure it needed adjustment ot not: Miguel, the demon hunter.

Maybe a 9/10 would work over the bone ridges? How awesome for you though! YAY!!

 

When he first was released I fell in love with him but I didn't have the money to get him. I would sometimes see him pop up on the MP but I either lacked funds (again) or he was in the wrong resin colour for me. He no longer has his human arm (the original owner replaced it with an RD mecha arm) but I'm working that into his character. Originally, he was to be a character called Orajin and his partner was Ivriah (Unidoll Ark). However, since the chance of me ever getting an Ark head in WS with his fantasy ears intact is pretty much zero (I haven't seen one in the MP in years), he gets to be somebody new. Oddly, after writing their story (Slip Of The Tongue), I kinda feel like I'm done with them as characters. So, perhaps it was good that I didn't get him then *shrugs*.

The wig thing... I have several SD sized wigs I can try out on him to see just what fits (and the same goes for his eyes) but I'm the type of person who likes to have everything ready for my new doll when they arrive.

I know the one you're talking about! He looks pretty wicked cool in his black paint and mechanical arm but that won't work for everything. Sadly, this doll hasn't been sold for 7 years or so and those who have him are limited. I wish I could tell you more but I have never had the pleasure of culling one into my tribe. Great that you got one!!

I had thought about emailing Impl to see if I could buy just a human arm in grey but it was 7 years ago and changes may have happened between now and then with their grey resin colour and despite the protection of sealant and paint, it's highly likely that new guy has had some mellowing just due to age. I've been toying with a way to incorporate his mecha arm into his character and I'm liking the way it's going so far.

he's going to be a fair sized project doll (at least to me) and I'm pretty chuffed to take this on even if I've never done anything like this before. Depending on how well/poorly the paint can be removed from all the crevasses, I may throw some metal leaf at him to hide what refuses to come off. That's time consuming, too, but I've done it before so whatever.

Well, you could get a new grey arm and blush to match, but it sounds like you have a good idea of what you want and you're willing to go for it. I think he'll be awesome and I am excited to see what you produce! Putting time into mods just means you'll (hopefully) love them more.

The 2nd one with the jawline teeth (and the 3rd one for a... softer look) has really caught my eye. I've been thinking of who will be paired with new guy (I really need to get my butt moving on finalizing his name). I saw a head that I really liked in the MP (I have a Miro body just waiting to be used since the one I bought it for said nope to it) but I didn't like the price at all. That 2nd head is just... *wallet makes whimpering noises while curled up in a ball, rocking in the corner*.

That 2nd one would make a most excellent sculpt if I decide to go with the partner being a general serving under new guy. If I go with the greenie-recruit idea as the partner, the 3rd sculpt would work beautifully. Why do doll companies tempt us so with the gorgeous?

Fortunately, this other guy is a standard sculpt but his company is currently having a summer event where I can get him at a bit of a discount. Considering the hideous exchange on the CAN$, I'll snatch at whatever little savings I can.

I'm gonna hope that if they are limited, they're still several months away from releasing them as I can't afford more unexpected doll purchases right now *sigh*. I really need a money tree....

I love it when a company is willing to make that leap of faith and do something so unique with their sculpts. Even if it is just for a limited number/time, at least they're giving those of us who are drawn to the more... unique look, options (beyond modding the heck out of a standard sculpt).

The excited collector in me hopes that the new heads are of a size suitable to fit on the 60cm Miro body I have that requires a head. The stingy miser side of me says they better not be or else I'll be perpetually broke. I think the stingy miser needs to shut the hell up, right?

 

Wow, I have a mighty need for this guy already. Luckily, I can always write in another horned character as I'm not finished with my series, and have in fact just come up with an idea while writing this reply. He'll just need a name =P

I love the cheekbones on that one sculpt but the lips are a turn off for me. I don't like full lips on male sculpts. So I'm safe from purchasing him. Whew! The other two... I, or my wallet more accurately, may be doomed.

would love to see a human version of this as well! he seems to really be experimenting with the fantasy sculpts and doing great too. did anyone else notice all the stuff in the background of the mad max style one....he's definitely up to something there!
i don't know if i can commit to this many fantasy parts but i'm loving the variety and i find all the sculpts super beautifully done!
