IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread 14

@chalyss I'd be getting them to go up a full cm in neck size (9cm to 10cm) to accommodate the head (BiDoll CS) I want to put on the body. I'll also need them to colour match, too. They quoted me a price of $60 to make the neck thicker and $20 for colour matching but of course you'd need to ask them what the costs would be for your purposes. In my opinion though, that's criminally reasonable for what I'm asking.

 

@Iron_Dog WOW! that is incredibly reasonable! I've heard of them doing all kinds of mods for customers, like 4 arm mods and double neck torsos for two heads... always wanted a 4 armed doll. Maybe I'll ask for that for my Joshua head! A thicker neck and 4 arms! That sounds kind of fun! And of course, the color matching! (Anti UV Real, which they don't make anymore, BTW... just the Real skin, in that lovely golden color, is available now. It's also ant-UV.)

So I did talk to Impl about their tan, as their new tan is that carrot anti-UV tan. They don't do the caramel tan anymore. Most of us, I think, don't want carrot skin (however, it might match the new Granado Sunshine, so maybe that's why they did it? The old tan matched the old sunshine), so they'll be taking opinions about it. I have some Impl stuff coming in soon I hope and I asked for resin samples, so I'll know better how the color really looks. I'll throw up a comp here when I get it and we can all tell Impl how we feel then.

 

@chalyss I'm almost positive that if SD's Shiva sculpt (pale lavender/blue resin & 4-arms) had been a male, I'd have been insanely tempted to get it and might've even broken Dolly Rule #1 (no doll comes home that isn't already a character). I have a DV 3-armed body on order that I'm really excited to get. Yea! for odd dolly.

If I'd ordered a tan doll and gotten the oompa loompa orange that is their new tan, I'd have been very upset over it. Please do share the resin samples you get from them. Impl seems to be pretty accommodating so maybe they would like to hear feedback on what people think of their colours.

 

Yah, my Dylan is pretty... Or rather was pretty oompah loompa orange. I wonder if he mellowed outor if I just got used to him? I think all my dolls are mellowing out, as the pinks don't seem so pink anymore??

Anyways, I took a picture of my Nick , now a modern man. He's so cute, but his hair is kind of geeky?

 

Nick looks so handsome! I rather like those light gold curls!

 

I'm afraid he's noticed he gets the most attention, and he is getting A bit spoiled!

 

@IngieBee those hairs looks so natural, i like how he looks :-) almoust all my dolls is curly hairs, still need body for poor saly as she dont get face up... looks like inspiration disapeared till she dont have body, but impldoll muscle body fits my erica snow head perfectly. I just finished one custom order for Xena costume and body is amazing with this head :-)

 

@Anita2006 , I wish I never got the idol muscle body because they gave me regular legs. It kind of ruins what I wanted to do . But your Erica does look fantastic there! And the costume is amazing!!!

 

@IngieBee it is amazing body, and yes, if you hafe some character ideas where is women warrior or strong women it looks amazing, but i hide those muscular parts on fantasy or royal costumes so she usually wears dresses :-) it was my first try for that kind of clothes to do, but looks like it worked well.

 

Hopefully those new muscle Idol legs will be out soon. It's been a loooong wait time.

Anita, your Erica is soooo stunning! I love white hair so much and curly hair especially, so white and curly is my FAVE EVAR. You did an amazing job on the outfit!

 

Aiee, I fell out of this thread! I know it's pretty late to the party, but @chalyss your female Chalco evokes Azalea! It may be just me, but then again, I also think Soom Dia could work as an Iplehouse Stella (who is obviously off-topic for this thread under normal conditions).

 

@chalyss you right, blond hairs fits her and she looks very nice, I'm happy how she turns on. i need to redo her face up as the small spots come out, but till spring she can be as she is :-) thanks for nice words about costume, customer was impressed and i did not charged too much.

 

@AntarelNefertili Oooh, she does! I just compared a pic to my Avatar, an Azalea, and front-face, they look a lot alike! And I can see your other comparison, yeah! I hadn't thought of that before, honestly, but you're right!

@Anita2006, I'll bet she was super happy! Congrats on that!

 

Impldoll said they would send new muscle legs, but it's been so long. Do you really think they will 1. Make them or even 2. Remember their promise to me? Or 3. would the legs even match her body anymore?

 

They are making them, I keep bugging them about them. A December release now, though. Remind yourself to them! And remind them what color you need and insist on it. You deserve to have them match! Or they can send a whole new doll... you can offer that fix, too. I am lucky that the ones I need match their new real skin, but not all may be so fortunate.

 

OK, I'll contact them again. I need a body for my new Leona event head that is incoming, so if I can afford it, they could send the legs together with it.

But I buy through Alice's so as not to pay for shipping. I wonder if they'd send the extra legs? I'll have to see.,

 

I'd hope Impl would pay for their own mistakes. The legs are not replacements for ones broken through use, but an error on their behalf. I think (??!!) they'll send them free, though they'd prefer to add them in with something else, of course.

@chalyss Your Marti is just *oof* (fans self) I'm super excited now that my Aurora is on her way. She's apparently being processed in customs so I'm prepared to feel a world of customs fees and pain but it'll be worth it.

@Anita2006 Love the costume, love the look! She's still royalty, she's a warrior princess now, not one of those bookish indoorsy princesses who do needlepoint.

@IngieBee He reminds me of baby Peter Capaldi when he was the Angel Islington on Neverwhere. I kinda wanna muss those curls a bit. Bet you do spoil him.

@GreenTeaSlug He does look good, they're giving Loongsoul a run for their money. I love the way they sculpted his eyes and mouth, it'll give a lot of expressiveness for someone to face up. Though I doubt they'd purposefully make a female doll like Fan BingBing...she's apparently caused some controversy in Mainland China. It'd be cool, but I wouldn't expect it.

 

Okay I'll post the proper excitement in here lol. I realized I replied to the news thread lol. I am curious if how an Idol male head looks on a female idol body. That sculpt new is quite feminine and I'm tossing it around lol. He's amazing otherwise! I'm so happy Impl is going in this direction! It makes me excited to see what other dolls they have planned too since I know most of us are eagerly waiting for the African pair. I'm slightly glad I don't HAVE to have PeiYing right this second XD so I might have time for him later on.

 

Wow, the new costume is AMAZING!!! I want that!! I need another TGB anyway for Marti, so I may grab him. I like the wig too!

The Idol male heads do tend to be big and their neck holes are at least 2 cm wider than the girls, possibly more. You could try asking for the neck hole to be modded to fit on an Idol woman, or just fill the gap with hot glue. I've done that with 12cm head holes and 10 cm necks. I'd also suggest the wider shoulders of the mobility female torso (the Star does fit on the Idol) to balance the bigger head.

Yeah the neck was an issue i thought about. I guess we will have to wait for a proper female version XD I bet they will do it since an Asian woman would sell so fast as theres not that many around thats proper Asian. I'll still keep an eye on him. If we can see a blank photo without the face up and all the wispy hair and effects. That could push me to fly after him since currently he looks pretty but I want to see what I would be working with in general.

He's def the right direction for the market! Also is this a new sculptor thats doing this new line of rather realistic faces?

 

I just saw the new Idol Asian doll. He is exquisite, really outstanding. Impldoll outdid themselves with everything. I am soo looking forward how this series will be continued.

The outfit is what really gets me. It looks so hyper detailed. And I think it would go well with several of my characters...aargh. I will ask Sean. Maybe we can work something out...

 

They have, or had, 2 sculptors. One did the more realistic faces and one did the bigger-eyed faces. Not sure they still have one of the sculptors, who was the one that did the more realistic heads.

I think they'l bring out a female Asian, but if they're following a theme and story line, which they are, they may keep it to all males. Still... 16 new dolls? At least one must be a girl, right?

This outfit is one of their very best!

 

oh wow 16 new dolls? Yeah surly a few will be female. I love male dolls and I tend to go towards them! But I have a couple females who would love to be shelled one day so here's waiting until that one sculpt gets released lol. If Impldoll keeps this up then one of them just might make it! Back to staring at the new guy lol.

 

Well, if they go with the 16 young generals/soldiers whathaveyou from their explanation about their theme. I wonder if they'll really do that many? Plus those other sculpts they have to bring out, Josy and Seth, some of those fantasy heads... quite a few for them to juggle.

 

That is true. Theres a chance (its kind of sad and disturbing) that they will discontinue some dolls to keep it fresh and better manageable. Plus they also might of realized that they could possibly fill in a long over due gap in the doll sculpt markets of the more desirable sculpts types. But we actually do not know what direction they are planning overall. Maybe they are able to hold so many different dolls which is why so many are planned. Also the newer sculpts are a great advertising tactic too for them. It brings more attention to the company.

 

@A Wee Tiefling thank you, costume already with customer and she is so happy with it, i don't remember wich doll will wear it, but think so one of imploding Cornelia or another beast:-) My impldoll doll she hybrid now wears some fairy godmother costume now and it turned out so beautiful, she is really magic, when i want to look her as royal it hides her muscles, when she is on brave women she shows it :-) universal doll and character.

 

Impl is really upping the ante with the new releases! It's nice to see the styles diversifying; I remember how difficult it was to find more realistic sculpts! I just hope they won't go the LoongSoul way and suddenly do a mass discontinuation out of the blue, and without prior notice.

Anyhoo, missed the lovebirds? They took a backseat because I had a new doll arrival (off-topic for this subforum), but now they're back to showing off how well they jive together.

On the flip side...I may have...purchased...the absolute ugliest Model girl I have ever seen. The owner pics were a bit blurry but as far as I can tell she is hideous. But I really wanted her for some odd reason and she was an absolute steal (like sub 75 bucks) even if I just keep the body. I'm hoping a new face up will help though. I have no idea what her sculpt is, but she shipped today so hopefully next week I can post some id pictures.

 

I am very curious as to which one you got! Can't wait to see the pics! I am thinking maybe Mandy...

 

@Thymeseer I always found the old sculpts a bit odd and owlish. I'm betting it's one of the discontinued ones.

hello! I'm thinking of changing my idol girl's body into the star body but I'm kind of iffy about the bust since the medium and small bust kinda looks awkward to me. Does anyone here own a star body with a large bust? and if so, may I see some pics please?

@Yangire811 I never got the small because they looked so weird to me, then finally got a small busted star (and MGB) and I love how they look in clothing. I don't do nude photos except to show the construction of the dolls I have, so it's not much of an issue for me. Also, the chests don't bother me in person.. just IMO

Actually, I'd like a runway model body with a small braless look so I can make a deep cut slinky dress for it.

 

Adding to the chest info discussion. I only have ever bought the medium chest in all the incarnations of my girl (more for character considerations than anything), but it's not as weird-looking as you think. Even with, errr, more cleavage-baring clothes. Certainly her boy doesn't mind!

Agreed! In clothing, all of them look pretty good! and I never ever tire of seeing your gorgeous girl, @AntarelNefertili! I haven't seen a small busted Impl in clothes though, only nude. Anyone have one of those? dressed?

 

Well....my Bernice's previous Star body was the small bust. Here she is clothed in a photo from a while back:

The small bust is rather nice actually. I've had both the small and medium busts for the Star, and I have to admit—I kind of prefer the small bust. And another note: the busts on the Star body in general aren't bad looking. they're certainly not cartoonishly silly looking like the balloon boobs on my large busted XM-doll/Magical Angel 60cm girl body. Now those are goofy and awkward

The new Bernice I ordered on the MGB will also have the small bust, so I'll have to get in a photoshoot with her after she's arrived and I've had a chance to complete her.

Oh @chalyss , you are already blowing me away with your ability to come up with cool poses! She looks fantastic, and I really love those shoes!

 

@chalyss would be the very reason for which I chose to upgrade my Bernice with the MGB—those poseability options. And damn—she sure looks to be very versatile with the different postures she can achieve

 

@chalyss Congratulations! I'm pretty sure you'll have a grand time with the MGB, cos I sure do with mine!

I confess I was even able to pull off a shibari photoshoot gracefully because of her poseability, but of course, the photos are a little too risque for public consumption!

 

I also don't do nudes except this character kinda always wears an armor (kinda like Xena's ) and I find it easier to sculpt stuff on large busts. But thanks anyway

@chalyss thanks! just what I needed I thing I'll opt for the starwoman body after all since the size difference between her and my other dolls kinda bother me since she is an elf thank you so much!

 

Oh, don't think I'm trying to get you to buy a particular chest size, @Yangire811 , I do ramble on! My point was supposed to be that they all look good in clothing, LOL

Only reason I never get large bust is because I was one of those "lucky" girls who's chest wouldn't stop growing and ha chronic back pain until I had them removed. I literally feel PTSD seeing very large busted dolls, ROFL. My eldest has to have her's removed this summer as she also is in constant pain . Too much of anything.... LOL

 

The MGB reminds me sort of like a 'husky' DC with the slender grace. She's a lot of fun! I did restring her a bit tighter in the arms and body, sewing the ends together for the arms so the knot stopped slipping into the shoulder joints. I tend to sew string ends together a lot for Impldolls. And others now, too.

@Yangire811, I use the Starwoman body for my elves too! While I'd love to switch them all over to Impl MGBs now, that simply won't happen. *LOL* I am still reeling from scaling UP. Not all my dolls/characters need to be super poseable, but some do and I'd like those few to get the most poseable bodies I can get!

@AntarelNefertili ...I had to look up shibari. Now I know what that's called! I didn't know before. Yes, she could do that easily, I can see! Actually, this particular character would probably enjoy that.

@IngieBee, egads! I have never had that problem, but know of ladies who have. Does not sound enviable, but what a terrible trigger!

 

...is it really worth it for me to share here anymore?

I admittedly haven't been feeling motivated to do photoshoots with my girls, much less the rest of my crew honestly. I sometimes wonder if it's even worth it to go through that process to share photos of them. I don't know what'll even get me motivated again; I've been feeling so disconnected with the community lately—especially in the sharing department. Any suggestions, and is it worth me sharing them here again in the future?

I'm so sorry if this seems to be coming so out of left field. I just...feel like I need some kind of advice/suggestions/etc.

 

@jade-eyed-cat, Maybe you need the new body to feel motivated..? Sometimes a big switch makes thing feel new again. Is that what you mean? I would love to do real photoshoots, but I have little time or patience, so on a stool in front of my bed is where it happens! But I love to make reference shots for others for hybrids and poseability and such and that gives me purpose.

I would say YES! It's worth it to share! We need as much of a pool as we can get and i LOVE seeing other peoples' dolls!

 

Ugh, do you feel ignored? I have learned that for some reason, there is an eb and flow to activity on the forums. I often feel like a thread killer, LOL. Anyway, I see and have posted myself photos that don't get comments, and it's always a downer. I just take the attitude that I will throw it out there in case it helps someone.

But aside from an ebbing tide of inactivity, at least this thread has always been happy and friendly

LOL, Everyone feels like a thread killer at one point or another, is my point. After 14 years you just get used to it, but it always is disappointing when you want to share or talk and you get no responses. Especially to newbs or sensitive people

 

I do understand this. I used to RP online and got ignored a LOT, and yes, it hurt my feelings. More, I think it was boring. *L* I still get this here too... sometimes when we get such an influx of posts all at once (or like me, miss 1 million and am playing catch-up), I do overlook a number of posts I'd like to respond to. But, while people may not appreciate a picture or information at the moment, it doesn't mean they won't later on. Even years later you can be beneficial for someone struggling for info or a pic.
