IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread 14

Sep 24, 2019

    1. Lighting will be terrible. It's so grey and dark right now that I'm considering turning a light on and it's 8:30am. I'm getting a new-to-me doll delivered today (OT for this thread and ironically one of Lyinenn's partners) so I will have the camera out.

    2. I'm feeling cozy today, though not a cloud in the sky, it does get chilly in the evenings :D Congratulations on a new dolly even if it's not an Impl :D :D @Iron_Dog Ugh, I need to re-order my Plaice's body, but with Xmas coming I should use the money for other things :( But I really want his body, it's driving me nuts! Ugh!

    3. @IngieBee So life happened at me today and photos did not. The post didn't deliver the doll because I owe Customs fees on it and I need to pay that at an outlet. They also sent the doll to a post office that is not my normal, close by one and I can't pick it up until after 1pm Saturday. The walk there is 2km. I'm going to need to Uber home at the very least since the doll is a big one and there's no way in hell I can (or will) walk that far luging a 7-10lb doll in a huge box.

    4. Oh that sucks, @Iron_Dog , man, that takes the fun out of it.... almost :vein Maybe you can recapture some sort of fun after getting home, pouring yourself a cup of tea, eating a cookie, then opening the box?? Make sure you're happy and relaxed because that's part of dolly therapy :D

    5. @IngieBee *shrugs* Life happens to the best of us. It just means that tomorrow will be a full day as I also need to do groceries (that's a 2km round trip). I could put groceries off until Monday but it would be pretty lean as I'm low on everything. I wanted to have the day to make eyes and maybe a wig but whatcha gonna do?

      • x 2
    6. @Iron_Dog Aw, that's rough. Hope you can get everything done you want to and rescue your doll! <3

      • x 1
    7. @Iron_Dog I have a preference for in-betweener SD heads myself! I guess I simply got sick of having my dolls' noggins being eaten up by 8-9 wigs, and yet not all 7-8 could stretch enough to accommodate, either. I totally sympathize with having to go to the Post Office just to pick up a doll, though. *hugs* If I'm not ordering through one of our local go-betweens (who sends parcels directly to our door), I usually have to make a "pilgrimage" to the main customs office which is on the other end of the metro, a distance of around 20km. I got so tired at one point, I practically fell asleep with my head over my Iplehouse Violet's box while on the bus back home. *_*

@IngieBee Sharing the unit 24/7 with the spouse mandated strange adaptations for our home living, too. Our "hobby" room (which is more of a "storage-for-whatever-you-don't-wanna-see" room) had to be converted to an office of sorts, because I couldn't focus on my work if he's at work in the same room. :sweat I do hope his colleagues don't mind the mess of my dolls' cloth/stands/unfinished projects in the background during video calls!

    8. @AntarelNefertili Yeah, because I don't drive getting things in other places than they usually are is sometimes a pain. Tomorrow will be the first time since January that I've been on any sort of public transport (bus/train/taxi/uber). If it isn't within walking distance (4km round trip), I don't go. Technically I could walk it as it does fall into my acceptable distance, but if I go grocery shopping, too, that puts me at 6km for the day and my leg with the CPSP will scream blue murder at me for the rest of the day and Sunday. I'm not into that. Not to mention how my neck/shoulder/back will hate me for a 2km walk with a heavy box.

I think I'm actually more annoyed at having to pay for an Uber than I am over anything else.

    9. On the one hand, I feel so sorry that you all can't just jump into a car and take care of things, and on the other hand, you can walk which is something I've lost the ability to do, and walking around to take care of things is obviously very healthy, so... I say... You Go Ladies/Gents/People :D Think of me, who can barely go 50 feet (maybe 12 meters) I'm preparing to get the knees fixed though, but I'm trying to balance my age and life expectancy of artificial knees, blah! :D

      • x 1
    10. I've had both friends and family get knee surgery and they've all been very happy with the results. Hopefully it'll work well for you, too, @IngieBee . I used to be able to walk more/further but CPSP (central post stroke pain) has drastically curbed that. I can walk long distances if I'm willing to pay the pain piper the next day and effectively be couch bound. Usually I'm not willing to have my movement that restricted so I very rarely do that.

      • x 2
    11. Ah, you're not 100% either, sorry to hear that :( I forgot it was a stroke that gave you the face recognition issue. But heck, it has multiplied your amazing costuming and character creation skills!! Love your dolls :D

      • x 1
    12. Can you use a wagon type thing and ibuprofen as soon as you get home? I'm 71 with foot and sometimes knee problems but if I needed to carry a doll (and groceries too) I would use a folding shopping cart like everyone from my grandmother's generation in the Bronx used for groceries. They were everywhere I went as a kid. I looked up grocery carts and found one for less that $30 free shipping.

      • x 2
    13. My husband bought me a shopping cart and it's a god send. It can also double as a dolly (the bag is removeable and it's actually called the Dolly Trolly) but I don't have anything on hand that I can use as straps to hold the box on the dolly. I'm fairly certain the box itself won't fit in the bag but I do have a Soom box I can test fit. Assuming that the box I've been sent isn't significantly bigger than the Soom box.

Or at least I don't think I have anything I can use to hold the box on the dolly part *scratches head*. I'll need to take a look around the house. Possibly some shoulder straps from bags can be jury rigged to make do. Or I just say F it and Uber both ways and call it a day.

I have plantar fasciitis as well but I generally wear my Docs when out and about and they help a lot with easing the pain there. However, because my body is a jerk, the one foot is really bothering me today because I want to go do things.

      • x 2
    14. Ugh, did you manage it today @Iron_Dog ? Hope it went well??!!

      • x 1
    15. got my doll today, yes. Photos? No. I was playing around with wigs and eyes and by the time I was done with that the light was gone and I had supper to make.

      • x 2
    16. Glad you got your doll! Hope you are feeling okay. <3

      • x 1
    17. I decided to Uber it both ways so I'm fairly good. The barometer is shifting around (we may get snow tomorrow) so some things are starting to hurt but not hideously.

      • x 2
    18. More important that you have fun :D Yaay, congratulations :D

    19. New dolly! Yay!

    20. This new doll is more or less my Xmas present, which I'm totally cool with. There's mods that need to happen to complete the character as well (and I have to find a damn name *grrrrr*) but I might wait until the new year to send the parts out as the Xmas rush is starting with regards to packages and it's not critical for me to have the mods done NOW! I'd like them done now but that's Dolly Brain talking and it needs to STFU for a while so the wallet can semi-recover before it gets horribly abused again in the name of dolly stuffs.

In a couple of more days I'm going to poke Impl to check on the status of the Ziv they needed to re-make. They initially said 2 months from my last inquiry for completion of my doll. That was nearly a month ago. I perfectly understand about how the pandemic has screwed up production for a lot of companies (not just doll ones) but they did tell me 2 months so....

      • x 1
    21. Yah, I think Impl is really messed up lately. Regarding mail, I think you really need to fear covid + Xmas rush in all the postal services. Wait it out for certain. Actually, I hate to say it, but I wouldn't want them to send Ziv out until after the first couple of weeks in January!!!

    22. I got Kulfi in the first week of January 2020 so they likely sent him out right around Xmas. But that was also pre-Covid so....

    23. @IngieBee I have found some rings.

[IMG]Untitled by Vampire Angel13, on Flickr

The only problem is I haven't done a neck mod (yet) so they do absolutely nothing for me XD

    24. I bought some too now, @VampireAngel13 , now I need to try it out, but I'm in the middle of a frustrating project. I bought a camera to repair and a screw that needs to come out was so jammed in there, I couldn't get it out, then it stripped, so I tried a screw removal kit and it just dulled on the screw. Now I'm waiting for a carbide tipped drill bit, all this for a $&+#@_$ rottin screw!!!

So I'm wary of another project until I successfully replace this shutter!!! LOL

    25. I just got a late night email from Alice's saying Impldoll has just shipped my Lenora head, so I have something to look forward to for Christmas :)

Also, I just noticed we're on page 50 so please watch out for a new thread and don't disappear :D

    26. My spoons have been low lately but I'm finally commissioning a FUA to do Tony...which means some time in the new year I'll be getting Max done! I'm really excited.

      • x 2
    27. Yeah, I feel you @A Wee Tiefling My spell slots are constantly in danger of being completely used up before I hit the end of my day and I've hit max level so I can't get more slots. Running around doing Xmas stuff (especially since I don't drive) is a slot heavy mission. I've completed the mission for today but I've only got cantrips left and gift wrapping is a level 1 slot.

    28. Does anyone have a Daphne at all? She really intrigues me!

      • x 1
    29. This is the funniest thing I've read in a long time!

      • x 1
    30. Somehow that's also so true. I've taken a level of exhaustion on the exam season, so I'm rolling my "is this a real sentence" checks at disadvantage.

On a more related note, I might actually be getting a head, and possibly a body sometime!

      • x 3
    31. A head AND a body, that's a novel idea (for me at least!) I need so many bodies at this point and it's driving me pretty much nuts!

      • x 2
    32. I feel the same but I just keep buying heads! Aaaaagh!

      • x 1
    33. The problem for me is that I can't share bodies. I have two rainman sculpts who have very small slots, a impldoll Crystal and a feeple65 for one body, but the feeple requires a neck mechanism. In the end, it is just too much of a pain to switch out heads for me. If I feel inspired to take a photo, I'm not going to switch heads.

      • x 1
    34. I used to be able to share bodies but I got tired of it even when I could. So floating heads is floating heads. Now I have too many different neck sizes. Although I did open a neck hole today.

      • x 2
    35. @KittyOrochimaru I haven't seen a Daphne in a while but I know the older sculpts aren't common on these forums. Someone on insta has a lovely Aigne and that's the least common smaller lady I know. I hope you find your Daphne. She's so cute.

@IngieBee I hate having floating heads! I've managed to stop at one but it's very much pressing on my DOLLY BUY button.

@Iron_Dog It doesn't help that I'm a skill monkey not a caster. If I were I'd be spamming magehand and prestidigitation constantly.

    36. Ahahaha! My dolls' RPG is pretty much a niche market so they use vastly different terminologies. :P While they can have a crapton of spells and skills at their disposal, if it generates too much strife they will get compromised anyway.

After having two failed body-sharing dolls, I'm pretty much resigned to buying a body for everyone now (except Adhara and her two sculpts, of course). :sweat

    37. Yup, I hear ya, @Mahgiep !

LOL, you guys are so funny @A Wee Tiefling

Yah, my goals for 2022, yes that's 2022, because I have huge layaways for 2021 that I just started, so in 2022, I will get bodies. In the meantime, I will make clothing and try to keep my mind off the floating heads. I hate to do it to my feeple65 Lora, but I'd really like to get my Rainman Veronica head on that body for a while. And poor Crystal, to whom it rightly belongs hasn't been on the body in a year and a half!

Except Lora just got a cool new wig, which is inspiring me to make a groovy jump suit! :D

    38. @Iron_Dog and @Chameleon I'm on death saving throws myself but I'm passing them and I'll pop up soon! :)

Next year for sure, I'm grabbing a Impl body for a floating noggin (Luminol Studio Xantheon), and potentially getting one for my John head! He's just yellowed so I'm hoping for a used one but no luck so far, but there's another company's body coming in on a layaway that I'm hoping will work for a hybrid. I love him so much I want him bodied again!

Also I wonder how Impl's brown will match with my Xantheon's tawny. It's supposedly close to Dollshe copper oriental but I have absolutely no frame of reference for any color matching. I'm just going to go for it and hope for the best!

    39. I am so sorry, looks like I talked right over you! I'm glad A Wee Tiefling caught your question. I have never seen a Daphne myself. In the pictures, her head seems to me, a bit small for the newer star body, which makes me wonder if she was initially designed for the slimmer star body? But yes, she definitely has a unique look!

    40. Yes, i'm interested in the Star/Model Muscle body but i figured why not get a full doll with a head too but Daphne really stood out to me xD Her head DOES look small though you're right. I might email see if they have blank/other images.

Thank you, yes she is. Her face gives me very Luts Juri i think that's why i like her alot.

      • x 1
    41. @Thymeseer Yes, overcome your death saves!!!
For colour matching I think I'd risk getting Impl to match with your head. They might be busy lately but they are still offering colour matching and you don't want to be surprised by the orangeyness of Impls usual dark colours.

@KittyOrochimaru So I have a Star muscle woman and she's got badonk in her tronk, if you get my meaning. A small head/neck will be a big mod to overcome and make work. But the slim older bodies I think are still on offer and they fit really nice clothes (looking at you, Volks). Getting Daphne on her body will open up all sorts of fashion possibilities.

    42. Hummmm good to know, @A Wee Tiefling , is she super tall? Or only a couple of cm over 60?

    43. @IngieBee methinks due to her bulbous head she is about 65cm. She looks tall!

    44. Oh i did not been here so long that I think so everyone forget about me. Stupid, but it is just for me or it is real that MGB female body one leg bit shorter for other? i did some silicone sueding, so her hands can have more posses.

      • x 1
    45. @Anita2006 , I have not noticed that on my MGB, but it could be. So many of my dolls are like that, including my new Fairyland65, that I got to where I don't notice or remember anymore :doh They just favor one leg or the other when they stand. Often times, it's caused by the joints in the hip or thigh being twisted differently. I'd check mine out, except my back is out today and I can barely move, ugh!

    46. A new discussion thread: Part 15 !

      :)
