I will never buy a doll with my credit card if I do not actually have the money to pay it off immediately. (I had to get a Granado Lucifer while they were available in mature tiny size! Even if I don't really have a paying job)
i will never plan for more than one doll... ok i wont plan for more than 2 dolls.. alright maybe i will never plan for 4 dolls damn it fine i will never plan for 8 dolls.... oh noooo..
I will never buy clothing, I will sew it all myself I will never get girl dolls, I will only have boys I will never do layaways, I will always save the full amount I will never spend over $100 on a set of clothing - but then FreedomTeller came along I will never spend over $30 on a pair of shoes - hello FreedomTeller! I will never have more than 50 dolls - oh yes you will, and you will have over 100 one day, and get your complimentary cake from your friend, which they promised you xD
So when i first got into the hobby, the HUGE trend was effeminate, or cross dressing boy dolls, done up with tons of cutesy clothes and accessories and i didn't want to be a sheep and follow the herd of owners with such pretty boys. I loved the idea but i swore i wouldn't be a copy cat, but my newest boy, reagan, is turning out to be just that. I feel such a strong effeminate/cute personality from him that ive already looked into getting him some cute playful clothes
Volks is too expensive, I won't buy it before I find my job. But now I am going to buy my second volks......They are too pretty!!!!
Oh god, yeah. I will never get a vinyl doll. Now I have 2 And I will never buy more then a doll a year. I'm at 2 soon to be 3
I said I'd never buy a BJD as way back in the day they were mostly anime style & I'm not fond of those. But a friend's doll changed my mind & I've been hooked ever since. I also said no child dolls but here I am with 2 Little Fees, a Peak's Wood FOF & another one the way.
I never thought I would own a volks doll.... because I either didn't like their sculpts or they were too expensive, I now own 5 and I'm happy to say I think they are worth the investment. They really are nice dolls with beautiful resin.
"I will never buy two identical sculpts." (I was sure I wasn't going to break this one but here I am seriously considering it. Even in matching skintones. This hobby is killing me.)
After going slightly over the top with my other collectables I was only going to have one BJD, then only one Tiny BJD then only one of same sculpt ..............I have now given up and having what I want
I will never want either a Delf Shiwoo or El, way too many people had them when I started and I just didn't see the appeal... The day winding like dreams by vicemage, on Flickr
Tbh “I will never get Minifee!” Yeah I was one of those people haha. Now I own only Minifees and I’ve got 3 of them :P
I will never own an MSD/"young/kid" doll... then I saw a Soom Ace & Grey that stole my heart. I will never spend more than $100 on an outfit... blew that one just this evening, but it was worth it.
I never thought I'd be interested in a Doll Chateau doll, but I started liking some of the facial sculpts. I also never thought I'd get an MSD sized doll, but some of those are looking pretty good.
"I will never have a white skin doll". I had nothing against then, just didn't see the appeal nor had a character who'd require paper white skin color. And now I'm anxious for my girl to be ready and sent home.
"... buy a Doll Chateau Snowborn. He looks like someone I hated." > after seeing a different design of him than he default one, I fell in love with him. Now I have two, but I had a 3rd one last year... ^^'
I've never really liked the idea of a white-skinned doll, but now I have my second one on the way. I kinda wish I had gotten the first one in peach or pink. It was a case of wanting it to look like the promo photos.
"I will never have more than one!" Yea, right, past me. "I will never buy one on impulse!" I once bought 4 at once (on sale) purely on impulse, and both of the ones I've purchased this year were on impulse. "I will never buy them clothes, only sew them!" Yea, another one right out the window.
That's easy. I liked looking at other people's BJDs, but, "I will never buy one of my own." Which is kind of true when I think about it, because I left "one" behind over twenty dolls ago...
Order an Amadiz wig. They are insanely expensive it’s ridiculous to spend that much on a doll wig ...but somehow I ordered anyway.
I will never buy a human doll... hahahah my Iplehouse Leonard is snickering at me from inside his box. I will never buy a doll before I've done the finishwork for the previous sculpt... wouldn't you know, it's the same doll laughing about that one!
Me in the past: ugh, Doll Chateau and Co (Dollzone, Dream Valley...), they have so weird dolls for me. Me now: *waiting for Dream Valley, wanting DC dolls, DZ dolls...* Oh no, no more. Maybe just DZ pretty pets... *DC unicorn coming in dreams* Ookey, let's see...)
When I first started collecting dolls I was dead set on never owning any girl dolls, and that I thought that Dollfie Dream/Anime Styled Dolls were the scourge of the earth. Now I'm literally swimming in girl dolls and Dollfie Dreams!
This was kind of almost an attempt (no purchases have been made), but I told myself I will not have my first doll as a girl. And then...I fell in love with a girly I saw. Although, due to priorities, I decided against buying her. I was suuuuuuper close to getting her, though! Maybe...
I will never buy a smiling doll. Smiling dolls are psycho.... So I must apologize my boy, because he is a smiling sculpt, and I fell in love with him in that moment when I saw him on IOS's website...
"I will never buy a fullset doll" and now I have one fullset at home and a second one on the way. "I will never spend more than 500USD on a single blank doll" and I don't think I even need to comment about this sentence XD.
...own a Fairyland (now owns a Sionna, which is one of my favorites). ...own a YoSD (now owns a Dream Valley Ann and adores her). I've been in this hobby a little over a year. Wonder what else I will "never" do. xD
I will never own more than 5. ~Currently ownover twenty with 5 more on the way (full dolls and floating heads) I will never own anything smaller than a YoSD after my awkwardly sized cherishdoll faith. ~Currently own 2- 16cm, 1-19cm, and 3- 10cm dolls. I will never have more than one YoSD. ~Have a second one on the way and plans for for three others in the future. I will never buy another another SD doll. ~Bought my third for Christmas. I will never own a doll bigger than an SD. ~Just bought a 65cm boy to go with my new SD boy. I will never make doll eyes, I'm content with sewing and wig making. ~Currently make both polymer clay and resin based doll eyes. I will never buy shoes, I will only make them. ~Can't make shoes to save my life.
I told myself that I will only ever own 3 dolls at most but Im already at my 6th. I said I would only ever own SD sized dolls but cuttently I am on layaway for 2 YOSDs.
"I will never buy more than one doll!" Before my first even arrived, I'd bought a second. "I will never impulse buy again!" Did that, shouldn't have lmao "I will never buy a carry case, because I won't take them anywhere!" I have one for each doll. "I will never get a custom faceup, it's easier just to get a company one!" Ahaha yeah right who was I ever kidding, customs are the best.
I was never going to have more than one doll....and I was never going to buy an 1/4 doll, I wanted to stick with 1/3 (65cm) But now I have 3 dolls with two more coming later this year....one which is a super cute Xagadoll 1/4 boy
"I will never own any dolls but SD!" ...Yeah. I had quite a few minis in the beginning (Serendipity dolls and a few Volks mini dolls) but firmly decided that SD sized dolls were for me. As much as I liked how big they were, I never did much with them. I shopped quite a bit for them, but I never tried my hand at making them things for whatever reason. Within the past year, I got a DC Queena, and since then, I've acquired some other mini heads. As a whole, I've been so inspired by my 1:4 dolls. I'm seriously thinking of letting go of all of my SD-sized dolls except for 2 and focus on keeping my collection. Decisions, decisions... "I will never own floating heads!" I have turned into a huge proponent of floating heads. In the past, I wouldn't view a doll as complete until it had a body. Now, I'm collecting quite a few heads and am 100% more than happy for them to share the 2 bodies I'll have for them. The thought of getting all the heads a body is just so off-putting to me.
"I will only get 1" I currently have 6 and one on the way! "I will just get one of each size" Currently have 2 MSDs, 2 tinies and my 2nd YoSD on the way. "I won't get obsessed with the hobby" Wishful thinking - (#autismissues)
@Gintsumi My YoSD is a boy dressed as a girl. I do have a Harucasting smiling Adori coming who has a genderless body and I'll be swapping them. My son is trans so I have no issues with cross-dressing dolls! lol
"I would never buy a bjd, even though I awfully want one"-Well... my parents are buying one for me when I graduate middle school (Which is in like less than 50 days)
I had friends in the community and I was a lurker for a long long time. I was adamant that I would never: 1. Own an SD --My first two dolls were SD 2. Own male dolls --My first two were male 3. Treat dolls like people --Yea..most of us are guilty of this I'm sure 4. Spend more than X amount on a doll --....lol. I won't disclose what that amount is but I surpassed it over 2x on a single doll 5. Have dolls based on real people --Again, first two 6. Have more than one doll --2.5 years in the hobby and I've surpassed 20 7. Have a doll in a non-skin tone. --Planning on 2 thus far, one already ordered in purple, another is gray
"I will only get 1" Oh, yeah! Now there are three, and i can't tell that it's all. Mostly likely it's only beginning.
@svc16 AAAH First of all, thank you so much! I'm thinking of shelling one of my OC's, and if I do, I'm thinking of going with Rhea(Charm Dolls) Joyce (Charm Dolls) or Bellis (MaskCat Dolls) But then I'm in love with Dream Valley's Mia, sooo... Hard decisions come with this hobby, I suppose!
I never thought I’d wipe my first girl’s factory faceup. I definitely never thought I’d repaint her myself. But I’m glad I did both of those things, since she looks like how I wanted her to look from the start.
"... will buy blank heads" I bought two already (on second buy, no less) , want to buy at least three more. Justified by: - One head was on discontinued list, and I wanted that sculpt badly. - I really disliked original body of second head (this one does fave a face-up, actually). - I need a head for particular body (which I didn't order yet, but it already has a character) - I want to try to make a face-up, so I need more heads for practice. ... Here I go floating heads!
"I will never buy doll shoes, too expensive and the dolls don't go outdoors anyway!" Then I ended up buying 2 pairs of boots at a time and a bunch of clothes as well
i said i would never buy a doll over 1000 usd and then i said i wouldnt buy another doll till the following year but here i am with 9 dolls in 1 month and 3 orders over 1000, rip me
I literally said to my wife, "I will never buy a BJD ever, please do not worry". Well now I am waiting on one and she may want one depending on how mine arrives / how my experience goes. So much for that promise, lol. At least she's on board....
1. I will never tell anyone (all friends know). 2. I will never buy tini (she sits on the shelf). 3. I will never buy a doll for the last money ().
I will never buy an SD sized doll... but I fell in love with one at a con, and now I have one on the way. I will never put a doll on layaway... well.
