How long was it between getting your first and second doll?

Apr 17, 2007

    1. 6 years.
I got my Rhein in 2012. My second doll will be Minimee and the creation process began at the end of 2017. It's a long process, so I don't know exactly when I'll got the head. I'm not sure that this year. So I can say 6-7 years.

    2. Got my first bjd in 2011, ordered my second one...last month:kitty2. I fell out of the hobby for a while and now that my partner is into it as well we've gotten more involved in the hobby.

    3. I got my first resin doll back in 2014, and have only started to save for a second now. It'll probably be another year before I can afford her.

    4. there was a period of around 6 months for me in between my first and second doll, which i should be receiving soon!

    5. Dang, um..I have to say about a week? Because after I got a guy doll, of course I needed a girl doll to match him for photoshoots I had in mind...

On the bright side, I'm really satisfied with the ones I picked so I probably won't be getting any other BJDs for a while. Don't want to alarm the hubby by suddenly populating our house with (ethereally pretty) strangers. ^-^ Clothes and props, on the other hand....hmm.

    6. I bought my first doll in December 2014, and while I was waiting for him to ship a couple months later, a friend posted that she was selling one of hers... and the pictures of him were TOO FRIGGIN CUTE to pass him up. He actually showed up a week before my doll purchased from the company.

    7. I always had interest in Barbie dolls. Loved the accessory lines. But I think I had just 1 original barbie between age 6 & 16 & that was hand-me-down from my friend. So I grew up thinking of rarity of barbie & never looked into dolls. Then I moved out from my 3d world country & discovered Liv Dolls. I got 37 of those in 2009-2012...
I got my 1st bjd in 2011. Wow she is almost 10 years old already! She is still in perfect shape as the day I bought her. It was Resin Soul something. Cant remember what. Budged purchase just to see what is bjd & will I like it. I liked it a lot!
In 2016 I got 2 more bjds minifee Celine. I bought 1 I liked it & decided that I need a sparebody to test my sewing skills. Ofc new one came with different type of body :( So I got 2 same dolls with different bodies lol. I count them as my 2nd bjd.
And now in 2019 I just ordered 5 dolls from Pullip family. Big & super expensive but I feel like I need some beauty in my life right now.
I think the only other doll I ever consider to buy its only could me a doll made in honor of FairyTail character Zeref - I would kill for it!

    8. I ordered my first and second doll at the same time...still waiting for them to arrive because it was recently, but I just couldn't decide between them who to order first!
Edit: this is specifically in regards to my BJDs, in regards to my start of doll collecting with OT dolls, it was probably about 2 years.

    9. I bought my first a couple of months ago and a few days after, Crobidoll released a doll that was a sculpt I had fallen in love with but was only available in limited edition. So about... 10 days I think.

    10. I guess one month in between if I remember it right :)

I got my second doll from a friend. My Crobidoll Heidi, which I really really love!

    11. I got my first and second doll at the same time. Before ordering I couldn't decide between two dolls and purchased them both.

    12. several months. I got my first this year around end Feb, 2nd at April, 3rd at Jun, and I just ordered my 4th:dance

    13. A month I had always wanted a BJD and got my first then saw another one so had to have it

    14. Almost a year later. Six months after I sold my very first doll. Technically my boy is my second doll, but he is alone.

    15. Well... it's been a 11 years so far, but hopefully before I can make that Sirius Black joke! :XD:

    16. About three months; although both dolls I bought were impulse buys. :doh

    17. Two years! It would have been much shorter had my heath not taken a nose-dive right after I got my first boy. :doh

But now I'm back in the hobby and making up lost time, lol.

    18. My first doll was in 2014-2015 and my second I just recently ordered three weeks ago, so a pretty long gap. I guess mainly because I fell out of the hobby for awhile but secondly the cost just made me want to wait, but I plan on my third getting ordered around christmas time or sooner if I possibly can.

    19. I've thought about this questions before too!

I purchased my very first doll in March 7, 2019. While I "waited" I impulse bought my second doll March 21st, after I discovered a bjd seller in the USA (which meant, I basically got my doll immediately).

My second doll arrived within 5 days. My first doll arrived after 2 1/2 months :P

So literally 14 days (2 weeks) between doll purchases Lol However, it will be quite awhile before I can purchase another one. (And I already want another one!!)

    20. It was less than a month I think. I was trying to not buy another but the doll I wanted came up for grabs so I caved.

My friend commented yesterday that since March I have got a new doll every month lol

    21. I think of Foxen as being from 2017, because that's when I ordered him, or the day after New Year's, but his COA says 2018, because that's when he was produced and when I received him. I also think of Athena and Rain being a year later, since they were the next year's Winter Holiday presents, but because they were ordered way before the holidays to anticipate holiday delays, they're from 2018 too! Looking at the spreadsheet I have (neeeeeeerd) it looks like none of my dolls are from 2019! The only exception is, weirdly enough this year's Winter Holiday present! Funny how that works out in the end, huh? The holiday I feel the most detached from is the one where the majority of my dolls come from, with literally only one out of my projected six being anything but gifts from that.

    22. I think it was about 1 or 2 years before I got my 2nd doll! The first one I got was a smaller cheaper doll, but because the 2nd doll was a 70cm doll I had to wait to save up and buy him on release day!

    23. I would say that it was a little over a month between arrival for my first and second full dolls. I got a head the month before that, though I’m not sure if that counts or not.

    24. Just over a year, but I’d been wanting my second one for 6 months before I got him

    25. It was ten days for me. :sweat Only because I bought one in stock and then the one I actually ordered first arrived quickly and without any warning whatsoever. I got my third two months later.

I knew I wanted more than one from the start because I get dolls to shell my characters. Not entirely sure how many will be “enough,” or if I’ll ever stop buying more at all.

    26. Exactly one year and six days from receiving the first one to my second.
I knew from the start I would have at least a couple, so it was only a matter of researching and saving enough money.

    27. The first time around I think it was a little over a year.
      When I came back to the hobby... Two weeks ^^;

    28. I ordered my first doll from Souldoll and then found an a doll second hand, with original box and certificate. Technically my first doll was my second purchased.

    29. Wellllllllllll... I got my first doll in October 2015, and it’s now almost 4 years on and I have 21. :sweat

I don’t actually remember the time frame, to be honest. I don’t recall the order they cane in even. I could go back over emails to try and keep track.

    30. Not entirely sure, and I kind of wish I'd kept track now. My first two were both Dollzones, purchased through The Junky Spot months apart, but the second apparently turned out to be the wrong color, so they ordered me a new one and I had to wait. So... it must have been at least six months?

    31. It took me so long to pick another doll because I wanted it to match with my first one, so they wouldn't look strange next to each other. I think it was a year and, maybe, 3 months.

    32. I sort of impulsively ordered my first doll through their official site, then about 3 weeks later while I was still waiting for it to ship, I saw my grail doll being sold secondhand, so of course I had to buy it too before I even received my first doll.... I ended up selling my very first doll that I bought from the company right when I got it, didn't even take it out to look :sweat
Lesson learned right away to not impulsively buy dolls though!

    33. I bought my second doll while waiting for the first one! I received them within a month of each other, but then waited 6 years to buy a third doll.

I got so used to having two dolls that it hasn't really set in that I now have three - but at the same time, the new girl has brought a spark of inspiration and made me fall in love with this hobby and my dolls all over again.

    34. I technically bought my first doll(s) in May, but I'm not counting it because they're still not here
Once my first doll arrived, which I bought 3 months after waiting for my preorder, I only waited about 2 weeks before ordering a second, I just fell in love and needed more

    35. Four weeks and two days between the arrival of the first doll and the arrival of the second doll. I ordered the second before the first one arrived.

    36. I’d say about a matter of a week. I got my first doll and immersed myself in the forums. I got inspired to shell one of my OCs and suddenly I had another doll on order. Then less than a month later, I couldn’t wait anymore with my next doll several months away, I found a secondhand doll that I got soon after.

    37. I think it was a couple of months for me, if I remember correctly. I got all three of my dolls within a year of each other.

    38. My first doll I got in 2008. It wasnt until 2011 that I got my second doll. However I got my third doll in 2012, and my fourth/fifth dolls in 2013... I won't keep going. Let's just leave it at the fact that I'm glad I took a hiatus for three years, because my collection was growing exponentially

    39. I only waited a month before ordering a second doll. I probably should have waited longer, but I can't say I regret the decision as I enjoy him as much as my first doll.

    40. This is a weird story for me. It was about 3-4 years between my first real BJD and my second! I bought a second hand doll from an estate sale on Ebay, and I spent a long time trying to track down who she was. I had a hard time figuring it out, because she was kind of Bimong-esque, but not any brand that I could find online. So I gave up on her and put her in the closet, and gave up on the hobby in general for a while.

Years later I tried again. While searching for her brand, I became convinced she was a Unoa, and bought a second hand Unoa. Well, then I figured out my first doll wasn't a Unoa, either!

I eventually found out she was from a discontinued brand called N-Dolls, a sculpt called Miso, and she reminded me of dolls like Bimong's and Unoa's because apparently N-Dolls and Unoa learned sculpting from Bimong or something? But the confidence I had in my dolls gave me more confidence to keep buying more dolls... and here I am now.

    41. I ordered my second doll within 48 hours of receiving my first girl. I just jad to have one in sky blue!

    42. Less than a month... I ordered Yeon-Ho from Crobi at the end of November and then Ringdoll had their big winter sale so I picked up the fullset of Hui the apprentice.

My husband and parents surely thinks I'm nuts but at least I'll have a fun 2020 when they (hopefully) arrive!

    43. I got Murmur in late 2017, and ordered my second doll in October of this year. So, about two years between them, although I collected a few non-BJD dolls - it took time to both have extra money and see a sculpt that was perfect for me! But when I saw Xun, I just had to have her.

That said, I ordered my third doll this month, so not as much of a gap between 2 and 3 :P

    44. A few months, I ordered my first as an early xmas present and got him before December, then his partner followed may/june for my birthday... doll no 3 came while I was on my study abroad in the last couple months of the same year, followed by 3 the year after. I either get loads of dolls at once, or none at all! I had a gap of about 2 years buying dolls and this year got 1 full doll, 4 heads and a body (so I guess 2 full and 3 heads...)

    45. Hmmm I think it was a few months? I’m not sure, I was a beginner so I really didn’t know what I was doing haha.

    46. Years. I was lucky enough to be a teen who's father paid attention to things I liked. I was (and still am) really into photography and wanted one of these dolls for that. My father surprised me for my birthday with a Luts Kid Delf.

Being a teen, I wasn't in any position to exactly buy dolls willy nilly, so it was a good few years before I got my next doll.

    47. I just ordered my first and second doll roughly a week apart, but for a reason. The Impldoll should only have a wait time of 4 months at most, but the Dollshe, which I actually wanted more, I will have to wait for a year or more. So I ordered that one through BJDivas on 12-month layaway. That way, there's a chance I'll get the doll shortly after I finish paying it off, and meanwhile, I'll have the Impldoll to sew for to occupy my time while I wait.

    48. My first bjd purchase was just a switch head in early December of 2016 which arrived in march of 2017. My second purchase was my lumedoll rischa which I bought at the end of December 2016 and he arrived only a few days later. So by purchase date, 3 weeks in between and by actual arrival, 3 months.
If we are only counting full dolls, then my next purchase was a dollzone snow in april of 2017 and he didn't arrive until November. So in that case almost a year in between

    49. I bought my first bjd in March of 2019, i got my second one on layaway now, it's from dollshe so i might even get another one before receiving this one haha

    50. Hmmm I believe a little over 6 months? Not including wait time. Though my second arrived and I have him for sale before I even sent him for his faceup. So back to the drawing board for doll 2 xD

    51. Bought my second today! And my first around August or July I think

    52. Very little, just a couple of months. I wasn't planning to buy second one from a company any time soon, but I hadn't considered I could find a perfect deal as a second-hand doll owner...which I became very suddenly and it freaked me out a bit, as if I'd escalate from there and just keep buying more and more dolls. XD

    53. Quite awhile passed between my two dolls. It was largely down to a mix of expense, cycling between my many hobbies, and inability to decide on one doll to be next. My first doll was 9 years ago (wow, I had to look that up), and I just received my second this last week.

Of course, I almost impulse bought a third on sale last night. Stopped myself, though, and went back to holding my still-very-new doll to remind myself where my focus should be, ha. I imagine my third purchase will be one of the tinies I've long wanted, and the one I was thinking of was very much not a tiny but in fact significantly bigger than my seemingly-giant first.

    54. I bought my first in 2017, and my second only a few weeks back! When I bought my first and didn't really use him for that much, I thought the hobby wasn't really going to be for me, but now that I have a second doll and am getting into it again, I'm honestly having a lot of fun with BJD and I hope to collect a few other sculpts that I really like! (most of which were discontinued in my 'inactive' period, bah)

    55. Haha, I have the same problem. My complete wishlist is full of discontinued dolls and I'm a bit afraid to look at it. I keep adding things to my wishlist and then going on a break....

    56. 7 years o__o My first in 2013 and now my second starting a 5 month layaway. In that time I spent mostly on video games I think! I hope I get my third bjd fast >.> but I doubt it, I don't make much money at all.

    57. I ordered my second head before even receiving my first doll lol! I just fell in love and couldn’t stop myself!

    58. Hmm I am pretty new but it went like this

      February 2018 - First doll
      September 2018 - Second Doll
      February 2019 - Third doll

      Possible 4th this month

    59. It took me about a year and a few months between getting my first doll and my second doll only because my living situation and health situation changed causing me to withdraw.

    60. I ordered my second doll about six months after the first. It was love at first sight! But not long :(
