How long was it between getting your first and second doll?

I got Soye in September and bought a Unoa Light about two months later. However, I ended up selling her and got my second 'second doll' in May (about 8 months after Soye).

 

Ilú came home in January of '06, and Aulen followed at the start of July (well... he arrived home at the beginning of June, but I still was in Japan for another month after that before I could come home and get him ^^; ) Since then, though, my rate of acquisition seems to have speeded up. I'm still not quite sure how that happened... :/

 

^___^; I got Kichi around the end of December and am currently waiting for my second doll to arrive sometime at the end of May... So that'll be... 5 months I think?

I Just have one by the moment, but I think that the first make you want to have another one quickly xDD I'm not sure why, mabe because you made an history for her/him and needs company, or maybe because you get impressed with her/his little perfection and can't wait for more and more xDD.

hehehe, I love my little Satsuko, and wanna to give her company soon (she arrive last fryday xD) but maybe i will wait some months.... i have to be realistic about the cost of one BJD, because i'm going to change my home, and get marry soon, so... i can't spend my money so easilly =_=

 

I bought Kayin in May last year and then Astoroth in December. I waited an long time between buying my next one for a few reasons. First because I go off hobbies quickly, I couldn't justify spending so much money on a hobby that I'd just get bored of. I waited until I was sure that I'd stick with it (1 year and counting ). The was also a big family tragedy at the time and I didn't want to bring home a doll at that time. I didn't want to be reminded of that event every time I looked at that doll. It's the same felling I get when I had this toy cat when I had my Kidney operation, every time I saw that cat I thought about how horrible the hospital was and how sick I was. Not good.

I think it's probably the case that when most people get one doll, suddenly hundreds of possibilities open up in their minds for the havoc they could cause if their doll had a lover/friend/playmate/enemy to team up with in stories and the like, so perhaps that's why there's that relatively short gap of between six months to a year in between the first and the second? That's how it was for me, at least.

 

Well... I got my first doll around July 2005. I ordered my Shall's head in November of that year, and saved up for a body which I didn't buy until April 2006. So about 10 months!

I was doing so well with budgeting that time... I bought my third doll in July of that year. Mostly on credit. XD (It was a Volks One-Off from last year's NYC teaparty, which I don't regret at all. I won him, so I like to think it was meant to be... =3)

But now I'm trying to do well again. I've got a head needing a body, and I'm slowing saving up for it so I don't blow my budget. ^_^

 

Well...Ichiro came home at Feb 23rd and i got Mieko at May 1st...
Which means...about 2 months and 5 days?

 

OMG I sweared I would have just a doll, but I think I'll buy a boy for my Aile before this summer... So it makes 4 months between the first and the second one... And I hope the third arrives much later or it will be awful for my bank account T^T

 

I kinda knew I wold get another doll. I got Miles in August and I should be getting Zane sometime soon(hopefully X_x). For a while, the cost really pushed me away from buying a second and I thought Miles would be an only child. But then at christmas, I got enough money to buy a second one and still have money put away. So I did. The reason I waited until now is because my sister was going to buy one, but then after a few months finally decided that she wouldn't be able to save up for it.

 

Well lesse, Trys arrived in August, Stumble in November, then Imp was March, Trip was April and Tally should be either May or June...sooo...pretty close together

I should add that I never planned on more than Trys lol

 

I actually got my first two boys within a week of each other. I'd ordered Xiyang Jin (my Hound) from Tensiya, and a week later ordered Kin (my El) from Luts. Kin came home first on August 10, 2005, and XJ showed up on the 16th.

I was only able to afford them two at a time like that though, because I'd sold off the majority of a sizeable anime cel collection just before that. My next doll (Fei, my K-doll Kian) was just a head, and he came home in November the same year. I hadn't planned more than my first two though, until I fell in love with Fei's auction and had to bring him home. From there I just decided it would be better to avoid setting limits, 'cause I know I'm the type to buy something that I like, regardless.

 

When I bought my first doll over three years ago, I had no plans. I jumped into the hobby without any research and before much information on these dolls was readily available online. I just knew I wanted him.

Now I have four. For some reason, they've arrived in approximately 9-month intervals. ^^ I like to have an interval between dolls so that the newcomer can settle his or her personality and backstory before I "take on" a new doll.

 

Almost two years. When I bougt my first, ABJD were still realatively unknown and there weren't many options.

The rest of them came pretty quickly, though.

 

Exactly 1 month apart. Lucius arrived on Feb. 24th, and Snape on March 24th.

Heh. I was another that swore I only needed one. I got Caldera on April 30th of last year as a birthday gift. I saw Cocori when she was a teaser sale page on Iplehouse and new I'd crumble for her. Ironically, between Caldera and Frankie, a friend sent me a DES head as part of a trade. I eventually sold it to upgrade to an 05 Juri head, which got her body in December to become a full doll. So I guess it was 6 months to the head and another 2 for the body.

That DES head was my crumbling point. I could have been happy with Caldera and Frankie (their characters live in a very isolated world), but the Zooka character emerged, and suddenly she's already picked out two friends, threatening more to fill my house with tinies.

If I had stayed on my original plan. I'd still be waiting to buy Frankie later this fall.

8 months and about a week and a half.
I got my first on January 20th '05 and my second August 31st '05.

 

Took me 4 years to get my first one, then a few months for the second, I took a break and 2 years later I got my third, I get them randomly.

 

Four months for me.

No more this year... unless Luts has another Christmas even I cannot refuse. Bring on the ELVES!

well i got my first doll a few months ago back in december amd i plan to order my next one in the nex month or two, i think it would be nice to have him befor otakon. lol. but yea im realy excited to be getting my second one soon and then i think ill whait a bit longet to het my 3rd and 4th dolls. lol

I have had my first doll 6 months and I hope to have my second actually home in the next 4-5 months. I'm still saving.

 

It took me about three-ish years to get my first one, and that was in March. Now I am planning on my second, hopefully by the end of the summer...which will make it five-six months?

 

I bought Hayden in August 06... then ordered Eiji in November 06, and Vin's head in late December, sold Eiji a month later, got Keeny, sold him a month later and bought a body for Vin. And yes. So... three months, technically...

 

i could not make up my mind, so i ordered a sooah, and thinking it would be awhile until it came in, i found a ryung i really wanted in stock, and ordered it, and they came in 1 day apart!! ahahah! but i loved them both, and they had someone else to talk to when i wasn't there!

 

My first doll, Dooly, arrived April 11, 2006, and I thought she'd be my only one for awhile, but I started saving for another within a few months, and by about mid-february I had enough for my second. So mine just happened to be about a year apart from each other concerning arrival time.

 

I havent ordered yet, but I'm thinking about ordering my first two dolls together, a soom Gem and Mini-Gem. Now if only I could make a decision!

I ordered Yuu five months after I got Coal, and then got him four months later, so about 9 months.

 

I placed my Elfdoll Soah on layaway in August of '06 and brought her home in December. That same month Luts had their Christmas special so I caved for Chiwoo and got the Juri '06 head as well. All my dolls arrived in the same month!

 

I'm planning on ordering Camine in June and then buying Ducan as fast as I can save up for him

 

It took me a long long time to get my first doll Inanna (Soony) in April of last year and I just got Shahari (Cherry girl), my second doll this month so, almost exactly a year in between my two dolls.

 

Almost three months. I wasn't completely ready to get a second one then, but I had the opportunity to get a big chunk of her paid for as a Christmas present, so I couldn't resist

 

3 days. I bid on two dolls on eBay at once, an SD13 Megu and an MSD Maggie, and ended up winning both auctions. That was way back in Dec. '04... heh.

Between my first doll and my second there was over a year gap. The only reason really is because life was hectic during that time and I just didn't have anytime to play with dolls. But things have been settling down recently, and so it's only a matter of money now, but that's coming along slowly...

 

Months! Possibly a year. But then my partner bought my Ryung and she was very pricey. He also bought me lots of other non bjd related dolls throughout the year that were much less expensive so I wasn't totally devoid of exciting dolly parcels to wait for. I bought Uyoo Elf myself only last month but then she was a lot cheaper than Ryung and very different.

 

I got my first doll in August last year, and bought my second and third in February this year. ^^

Though if it wasn't for my birthday, I'd only have two right now. ^_^

Alice & Umeko (Volks SD Kurumi & Volks SD13 Cyndy, bought from Volks & someone here) were paid for around the same time, early January. Umeko came within a few days, Alice on the other hand I had to wait for 3 months

 

I have aquired six since August 2005. For most of them I had a part time job and most of the money for my dollies came from that. I had no regular intervals between dolls tho...

Sora, was the first, and only after 6 months of planning and saving. I was planning just to have him... Roxas was an unintended splurge. I got him in Feb 2006, from eBay. Shouya was carefully planned and purchased in May of 2006. Jeimi was unintended, a MSD body through DOA and a head from Luts in July, I think. I had to quit the part-time job 'cause I was burning out, but I managed to save for Danny (and presents!) for December. And Iikiba was a deal I made with my other half if I would permit him to buy an ATV. He just came Apr 11 this year.

So, I guess my intervals would be 7 months, 3 months, 2 months, 5 months and 4 months... so far. I still have 'em all with no regrets.

I'm very, very bad, I got the first 2 at once.

 

My first was September 2005, then a second March 2006, and the third September 2006--and they were on the 15th, 18th, and 19th, respectively, so that makes them all almost precisely 6 months apart!

I ordered them the same day, and they arrived one day apart.

That was in January.

I now have nine dolls.

All of them were compulsive buys. x_x

 

Literally a few weeks apart. After I got Skyler, I didn't plan on getting another for a while, so I could spend time bonding with him (and to pay my mum back for him). But then Nuru presented himself, who I would have got eventually anyway, and he was too much of a great opputunity to pass up. So, yeah, less than a month for me and my boys

 

Well my second guy (Tay) is not here yet and his body has not been purchased... but the time period between the purchase of my first guy (Gab) and Tay's head is roughly three month time ;^^. Anyway I think it will take a long long time for Tay to be completed... Roughly half a year I think because I still need to buy his body and I have no money... And he has to be sent away for a face-up... Anyway I am surprised at how fast I have planned for my second doll when I have swore that I would never consider getting another one... I guess I just couldn't resist school A... I did try though XDDD!!

 

Hmmm. Well, to actually get him in my hands, two months. But I started paying him off about ... half a month later? Maybe a little more? I was lucky enough to have the money for both of my first two pretty much on-hand. I wish that happened more often! ^_^

 

I got Narin in Febuary for my Christmas/Deans list present. I just blew off a HUGE chunk of my reimbersment check for Kyle. He wont be coming home for some time. I know thats really soon to get a second doll but I promissed myself not to get anymore dolls for a LONG time.

Heh... I bought Cady (Pure Milk Dana) in July 2005. Then I put a layaway deposit on a Soulkid Katie one week later. Three days before Cady came home (mid-September 2005), I bought a LF Bada, who arrived two days after Cady. *shakes head* I was extremely impulsive in my initial dolly purchases.

 

I ordered my FCS around October 15th 2005, he arrived home November 5th. My old F-27's head was bought in February the next year, his body in march, then his face up later that month, and he was fully put together in May. By then I had bought my Kohya from VolksUSA on April 27th, so he came before my F-27 and I went from one to three in about two weeks

 

I got Bailey Feb 22nd (a gift).

Dutch was ordered March 15th. err heh

Then another in May, another in July, and in August... And then student loan repayment started.

On average I've been getting one doll every two months. I think something like 1/6 of my annual income goes to this hobby, it's not normal!
