How do you store your BJD, clothes, and accessories?

Feb 5, 2015

    1. I keep my loongsoul dolls full set hanging in my closet so the pleats don't get wrinkled. The rest of my doll cloths live in decorative IKEA boxes in the bottom of my doll case. I don't have many cloths yet :)

    2. Currently my doll clothes are separated based on size: my yo has her own tiny plastic carved jewelry box thing I picked up in an antique store, but the drawers are really shallow so they can't fit much :x my MSDs clothes and all accessories are stuffed into a fabric makeup tote that is about to burst at the seams x__x and my SDs (and a few holiday specific MSD things like ugly Christmas sweaters) are stuffed into a flip-top box.

It's a really messy system and I honestly hate it. I've been trying to figure out a way to go about sorting my dolls' clothes based on their CHARACTERS, but haven't figured out a way I like that won't also take up copious amounts of space? x__x I might have to get individual chests of drawers or wardrobes for them and just....Hide them... Somewhere... Idk Dx

    3. Sealed and stored in an armoire for now.

    4. Those doll wardrobes are so damn cute :chibi

I have mine folded and stuffed in an oh-so-glamorous stacking compartment storage box that I bought from target. Actually, most of my doll supplies are stored away in there... it keeps stuff from getting lost, and that's all that matters to me right now.

    5. For shirts, dresses, pants with belt loops, etc for SD and MSD I use those little wooden hangers they sell from China on EBay.

For wigs I have the specialized wooden wig holders, again from China. It's like a base, rod sticking up, and wooden head-shaped ball on top.

For the smaller stuff (including smaller clothes, accessories, eyes, glue sticks, etc.) I have a big plastic box (maybe for fishing tackle?) that opens up in such a way that the top shelves go back when you open the lid. It has a clear top and looks nicer than a fishing box. There are little trays and "walls" inside that you can arrange.

    6. I keep my doll outfits in snap-lid plastic totes from Costco. The translucent totes come in a pack of three and only cost maybe around $16 USD? Sometimes they're on sale or have rebates right after the Christmas holiday.

Since the outfits are pretty densely packed with no air flow, I try my best to keep humidity down to a minimum. When things are packed away for a while in a humid place they can sometimes get that gross musty smell.

To keep things dry I throw in some desiccant packs that I make using dollar-store socks and clean silica-based cat litter. You might have to sift them first because there's a lot of excess dust in the litter.

    7. I have a metal box where I them.

    8. big plastic containers... keeps them away from dust.

    9. My SO and I keep everything in a little bin! It has all our dolly clothes. Most of them are factory made, but there are a few that I've made myself.

    10. My little cedar closet quickly became overrun, so I requisitioned a small trunk. It's almost full.

    11. I put them in little plastic bags and put them either in the mini suitcase I have for my doll or in a box

    12. currently i have some padded ziplock bags reserved for small clothes that i can bunch up to keep track of go-to outfits or similar colors, and i store all of the bags + larger items (like fabrics and accessories for photos) in a drawer! ah, the ease of storage when you have a 20cm doll ...

    13. I buy the cute photo storage boxes from the craft store :kitty2
I like that they have a spot to label them and they stack pretty good..

    14. I have several bins where I put my doll clothes. Each bin is for a different bjd size.

    15. I have a plastic tub for the clothes and a littler one with compartments that fits inside for like accessories and eyes and such :DDD

    16. I bought a divided organizer box. Little compartment for shoes, little compartment for shirts, etc.
      That's just for my tinies.....
I need to invest in something for my msds as I'm currently gaining more clothing for them and nowhere to put it.

    17. I've got my doll stuff stored in a box. You know these sqare-boxes for sqare-shelves by Ikea?
My props, eyes and shoes are in a box in this Ikea-box. And the clothing is just thrown over it. It's a mess *_*

Right now I'm searching for inspiration to store my clothing tidy and nice. I was thinking about these clips or something similar to hang the clothes on a pole...

    18. I put them into PVC bags. They can keep the clothes in save from wetness and scents.

    19. Mine go in decorative tins and boxes that I've been accumulating over time. Cookie tins, sturdy boxes with magnetic flaps, etc.

    20. So far I was keeping them in a box but it’s not overflowing and it bothers me having to rifle through to find things I’m looking for, so I think I’ll be taking some inspiration from other posters here and buying some drawers :)

    21. I have a small box in my closet where all the dolls' clothes are stored flat in ziploc bags. Each doll has xir own bag of things, and at the bottom are heavy objects like accessories and shoes. I got the box itself from the dollar store. It's just a hollow ottoman.

    22. I actually plan to store them im a wooden doll-wardrobe my grandfather once made for my aunt when she was a child. At the moment I have an SD sized drawer in my room, where I store my doll‘s clothes.

    23. I have my doll his own drawer in one of my plastic drawer closet thingies. But it's already full because he's already got so much stuff. I have to empty it out maybe. It share between the new doll that will come in that I'll give his own drawer too. I have six drawers so I still have room for for more dolls heuheu.

    24. We have a large apothecary chest with over 30 drawers, so I’m transferring all doll things into that and organizing by category and size, with lavender, cedar and silica gel packs to discourage moths and damp. Before that, I kept things in 2 stacks of graduated hat boxes and a small chest. I remove things from plastic and cello bags and use acid free tissue paper to line drawers and stuff wigs and shoes/boots to help them keep their shapes.

    25. For now, any unused clothing get put back into the plastic they came in. Then stored into plastic drawers. Ive been eyeing out some doll dressers and cases but havent found one that I really like yet.

I hope the link works, because I wanted to share the little doll-wardrobe my grandfather made many years ago for my aunt, whiich happens to be in my posession now. Of course it was not made for BJD's but for normal dolls, but it has the perfect size and I am crazy in love with it!

    27. i have a small (decorative) luggage trunk from hobby lobby that i put most of the clothes in.

    28. I currently have all my doll clothes (for both BJDs and off topic) in lidless, shoebox-sized bins lined up just under the edge of my bed. Each box is for a different size.

The benefit of this is that I can just stick my hand under the edge of the bed and toss things in their respective boxes to put them away. I can be quite lazy if my stuff is too hard to access, so this is important.

The downfall of this system is that there's so much variety in the dolls in my collection that each clothing item may fit 3-5 dolls, each vastly different. It's hard to keep track of what fits everyone and what doesn't, and my current system doesn't allow for separating each item by doll.

    29. Currently I keep extra clothes in baggies and then organized in plastic box that lives in my craft room. I'm hoping to install shelves and then make a small wardrobe so some of the prettier outfits can be on display, too.

    30. still new to this hobby but i'm lacking space to store stuff. i currently have it stored in the doll boxes and doll carrier i have but this is not ideal for me. i'd rather have a drawer system or some other way to store them.
but as i mentioned, i don't have a lot of space in general so i have to just make do with what i have and store as best as i can. maybe in the future, i can have a better organization method for my doll stuff :)

    31. In a zip-lock bag next to the doll stand.

    32. I actually have a doll-wardrobe in Doll-size standing in my room (my grandfather made it many years ago for my aunt's soll when seh was a child) It has the ferfect size and I store my doll-clothes and accessories in it. I think I already posted a picture of it in another thread. On top of it I also have a little doll-dresser to store props and other things for my dolls

    33. Fill it with bags and put it in the bin.

    34. I actually use pencil boxes! They keep the dust / cat fur out perfectly!

    35. I try to keep the doll clothes in the boxes (all of my dolls have one) but sometimes i found their clothes between my own clothes. Can you imagine the situation when you are sleepy in the morning, you want to take on your socks but it is only 5,5 cm? This happened with me.

    36. Have a large box with many clear plastic bags to put clothing in.

    37. With my smaller, non-BJDs, their clothes fit just fine into the approximately ten thousand makeup bags and boxes I've accumulated from those free gifts you get on beauty purchases over the years (side note: would love like anything other than a makeup bag/box from those).

BJD clothing is too big for that, so I have all of my BJD clothing in this cute vintage travel trunk. I somehow ended up with 100+ of these comic book storage card and sleeve sets, and I put the clothing in that so nothing ends up wrinkled up. Everything fits nice and neat into the trunk, and it's so easy to find what I'm looking for. I can also fit my eyeball boxes, doll sewing books, shoes, and my maintenance kit in there, so it's pretty great!

    38. I store my dolls in my closet on ledges and don’t take them out during the day since I’m pretty fussy about yellowing. I keep things like clothes, extra parts in coa in little boxes.

    39. My doll (SD sized) is in a book shelf safely seated and I store his clothes individually in bags as well as his extra hands(the ones
he came with, i got him jointed hands).I I store most of that in the box he came in or the BJD sized Chest or his Mini dresser.

    40. Zip lock bags, with four outfits a piece in them, all stored into one big trunk I bought JUST to be their wardrobe. Sometimes I have fantasies of little hangers and making it into a closet... but I make them too many clothes to justify that.

    41. Most of my dolls are in several glass curio cabinets. As for clothes & such, I've amassed a bunch of those large decorated boxes which look nice piled up. I also have two drawers filled with accessories & four vintage doll trunks. Everything is grouped according to size of doll, male or female, hats have their own boxes as do shoes. Extra furniture is mostly on display by itself as they are antique pieces & the modern stuff is packed away in tubs under my bed.

    42. I put the doll's outfits in the plastic boxes with some desiccant. This helps me find the outfits easily and it really keep the outfits as new as before.
The little boxes are very cheap for 1 dollars each.

    43. Big giant "Click-Clack" ( what we call them here in NZ ) transparent hard plastic boxes. They stack on top of each other.

    44. I use those fun boxes they sell for photos from AC Moore and Michaels (I buy them when they are 5 for $10) and then use baggies to organize inside. I scored a cool chest that sits on a table that was for some kind of tools but the slim drawers are perfect for eyes, hands and little extra parts like that. I love those fishing tackle boxes in clear and the two sided ones really rock and are perfect for all my tinies goodies (one is just full of Kelly shoes!!!) and it's great to see what's in there when you are searching. I also have found that some paper organizers work well for clothing as they don't get all wrinkled up and it's easy to find what you need. I had a friend make a little insert thing I designed to hold wigs to protect them and still be able to easily see what you have. I hate buying something I pretty much already had when there are so many wonderful things to get! I think labeling is one of the best ways to keep it all straight no matter what I'm using. Anytime I start to say, Oh, I'll remember I go grab the label maker!!!

    45. I have a Box for my doll stuff :)

    46. I keep all my doll clothes and accessories in an airtight food container. It keeps them neat and protected from just about everything.

    47. .

    48. I've always found cute little storage containers/boxes,shelves at Michael's and Hobby Lobby that are sometimes used as desk organization or even planters!

    49. I have a small storage case for small items like accessories and eyes. I also have a drawer in my dresser dedicated to my doll clothes and shoes.

    50. I store their "main" outfits with them in their boxes, and the rest is stored in its own little box. I don't have a whole lot in the way of clothes so it works out this way for now, haha. I can definitely see myself getting maybe one of those cute little chests of drawers in the craft store at some point!

    51. I have a dedicated shelf on my bookshelf where they sit. Some of their clothes and accessories are there also. The stuff that doesn't fit is in a closet door hanging organizer.

    52. I use "Samla" boxes from Ikea ^__^ Since they're clear I can easily check what's inside! They also come in a trizillion different sizes, so they work well for whatever space one has available.

What I personally find super handy is, that you can also purchase inserts that divide the box into layers and compartments! In the bottom layer I store outfits and in the top layer I keep wigs and shoes ^-^

    53. I was thinking about getting one of those storage trunks for all my doll stuff. I’ve seen some cute pictures of people painting them with their kid’s names when they send them off to camp or college. I thought it would be nice to paint it with some nice designs so I can leave it out and not shove it in my closet. I’m also thinking for some of the delicate accessories, I could put a layer of foam and cut out holes for them.

    54. I have tons of these little opaque boxes that are like human storage boxes but really small... They are great for doll sizing too, so I just keep my bits and pieces in those!

I don't have like, a doll wardrobe like some people do. Though that would be cool.

    55. I think, I already mentioned my doll sized wardrobe but lately I had to add some more boxes for wigs and eyes, since the wardrobe is so full with clothes and props, that I had to expand:XD:

    56. I got a makeup kit on sale and the fancy box the make up was in is their storage. I don't have a lot for my bjd right now though. I'll most likely need to upgrade to something larger in a year or two.
My dolls are in my closet untill I make a safe spot for them. We just moved into a beautiful house that gets a ton of natural light. So I'm making dioramas/room boxes to keep them safe

    57. I am lucky that I have one of the bonus to me down stairs that has no window so sunlight not an issue. I have several cube units lining walls so I can store bins both plastic and fabric to store items for my dolls.

    58. I love the wood table! It's fabulous for a hardwood floor! I have some left over scaps of planks from the one laid in my room i can use 'on top' of a table but not nearly enough to cover the space I need for my SD's. This is what I'd like to do if i could get the help to set up (not physically able to do part of the major set up needed ...ooooh this inspires me! But your tub storage is soooo much better than mine lol.

    59. The table was our old kitchen table over thirty years old and when MIL passed away eight years ago we took her newer dinning table and put this in basement. Storing it, meant it was always in the way. So instead of giving to Salvation Army I asked hubby if I could have it. Has been working great for photos.
