Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 67

Oct 15, 2021

    1. we had to restring but it was pretty easy and didn’t require any new string or cutting of elastics.

    2. Stringing terrifies me

    3. Does anyone know how to get ahold of old a-line heeled feet? I've been searching everywhere and I've seen plenty of flat feet but none that are heeled, do they just not exist except in magnetic form?

    4. I believe they discontinued the older hook style feet when they updated the girl bodies a few years ago.

    5. Hello everyone! I want to buy a minifee secondhand but am very worried about making sure it is real. It comes with a CoA and looks legit, but I just wanted to know if there's any tips to identify a legitimate minifee. I hope this is the right thread, if not, can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you for all your help!

    6. Happy New Year!!! :cheer

    7. If it's new enough to have a COA, then it should also have engraving inside the head. I don't have any pics handy to show you, but perhaps someone else in here does.

    8. Does anybody know where I could buy 1800s style dresses for Minifees? I've only found one taobao shop that still sells some, but nothing more. I'm also trying to find some mori-kei clothes, but not too much luck either.

    9. What a lovely holiday photo @Angel_ !!

Sharing my little gal, Chantal, in her 1806/Regency gown - made with fine
Swiss batiste fabric, French cotton lace, and embroidery - on the right.

    10. That chemise looks beautiful! You're so talented.

    11. Thank you @Dailah!!! I *love* doing heirloom sewing!! The fabulous fabrics
and the gorgeous French cotton laces - just work up so beautifully.

here are a couple Edwardian petticoats that I made last year for the minifee
gals - one of them was unpainted here - Chantal is wearing a Raouken corset.

    12. Unfortunately this is not an effective way to prove authenticity. Fairyland still has casting molds that don't have the head name engraved, even with the newer releases. You'd think they would update that by now. :|

    13. really? i haven’t seen that lately - i know f60 miwa and mnf alan have a non hand written engraving, dina’s were definitely carved. interesting to know though!

@Nymui if you’re buying a full doll and feel suspicious, i would also ask to see the wrists since apparently those are thicker on fakes. there’s a couple websites and youtube videos that have very good point by point comparisons, some or all might apply to the one you’re buying. you could also ask for receipts if they bought it from DDE, Fairyland, or Dolk if they’re willing to share the invoices if they were the first owner, or ask who the previous owner was. I’d personally still ask to see the inside of the head, just to cover all bases :sweat

@Robyn_in_WA those are beautiful!!! especially with the corset!! i’ve been trying to find something to go with my rakouen corset but i feel like any skirt i make is too plain. maybe i should pull out some heirloom things, i feel like the … vibe? texture? is just right in your pic!!:D

    14. THis sort of thing is what you can take to the Ask the Moderators section, under the "HELP" topic in the top of your window.

    15. @Karra
I'll look into where they ordered it from. It seems like the wrists are a huge point in identification. Thank you for covering all the bases, I'll make sure I've got all the info before making a purchase.

      @Rosslyn
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I'll use that from now on!

    16. Recasts also have engraving inside the head.

Yes! The wrists and hands. If the lower arms/wrists appear to be a bit thicker, likely not legit. Also, hand details like creases and nails are much better defined in legit dolls.

    17. Hi everyone, I am looking for suggestions, link etc for good sources for Minifee props, especially furniture. Don’t want them to break the bank however.

      • x 1
    18. Our Generation line from target has a pizza parlor table & chairs that are pretty close to scale. You may want to add a padded cushion to the chair to help mnf sit up a smidge higher but I like how my guys look with that set. Some of the beds are long but depending on what angle you photograph on it can be made to look more in scale. Some American Girl furniture fits too but tends to be all over the place scale wise. A lot tends to be trial and error and what looks right to you.

      • x 1
    19. I would add that the 18" doll stuff from Wallmart also work well for MNFs. I have a little shower set, and some other stuff for my BJDs from that line. The furniture is in scale closer to MSDs, and some of the props also work for SD sized dolls.

    20. I actually ordered the pizza parlour table 2 days ago and am waiting for it to be shipped! I also collect American Girl, and have actually found that Our Generation stuff tends to be small for them. They definitely seem to be closer to 1/4 scale than 1/3.

    21. I bought a saucer chair from the Walmart line today and you are right, it is a really good fit.

      • x 1
    22. The Our Generation saucer chair is great for Minifees. I have about 4 of them. I also have found some perfectly sized chairs at Michael's. You just have to keep looking. @AnnC I must have been grabbing my picture while you made your post lol!

Phone cam pic, but I'm very happy with my new arrival. Little vampire boy, I think I'm going to try and base him off of a Honduran White Bat, so time to try and figure out a white and orange wig for him. Ingrid's vampire event head is very cute! Now I also need to find him a body of his own, he's currently borrowing someone else's.

      • x 9
    24. Hahaha. I actually find these chairs better for Minifee than for 18” 1/3 dolls.

    25. IMO Most of the my generation - American Girl sized stuff is better for the MSD except for the smaller things that fit in/near hands because the American Girl type doll has such chunky hands. I do have the American Girl Whicker Chairs and they fit better with my smaller SD (60 cm) sized dolls.

There are some excellent tutorials for making sofas on YouTube.

      • x 1
    26. I love him, and I love your plan for him. I have wanted to base a doll on a Honduran White Bat for years, but keep getting side tracked, maybe your boy is a sign to reopen that project idea and find a doll for it. Also good to see I am not the only one making my vampire Ingrid heads into boys. X3

    27. Hi. I want to hybrid my Soom bronze skin girl with Fairyland hands. However Fairyland tan is a little bit redder. Will the yellowed tan hands be a better match since the red pigment is broken down ? Can anyone show me your yellowed tan fairyland dolls please?

    28. Haha, they're just too cute to be real! I actually have a little tiny plushie of one, gotta take pics of my boy with it. I'll slowly be tracking down wigs and figuring out styles for him, maybe some white fluffy sweaters and orange shorts.
And yes! I thought it was a great sculpt for either boys or girls, glad to hear I wasn't the only one too!

      EDIT:

    29. My sweet Ciara got a new wig tonight and I wanted to
share a couple of photos as I’m quite delighted with it!
It took longer than usual getting here - staying a week
at NY ISC for some reason. But arrived safely and in
      perfect shape all the same.

Ciara is also wearing a Raouken corset - that seems to
be my favorite clothing for these delightful gals. She
was exquisitely painted by Vitta Vera.

    30. So I ended up purchasing a nearly full outfit for my Minifee that's completely different from what I originally planned for her ^^" Its a purple and silver fantasy gown made by Gajaada on Instagram and should be here by the end of the month.

    31. @Robyn_in_WA Ciara is so pretty <3 Looking good with her new wig, and her friend Miette is cute too! :)

I had two of my Minifee girls with me on Christmas holiday and we went out! Oili is Minifee Ruth in B-line body and Cheryl is Minifee Shushu in A-line body. Both girls clothes are mix and match of bought and self made clothes.

    32. Thank you @xaya ! :) I was so pleased to finally find a wig that I
thought worked perfectly for Ciara. Miette enjoyed getting a colorful wig!

Your gals look amazing in the snow!!! I *love* the coat on the gal on
the right - and their boots are darling too! Great photo!

    33. @Robyn_in_WA Thank you so much. :) It's great to have seasonal clothes for dolls, winter is challenging as I only have few coats made. SHould sew more!

I got few pairs of frame glasses from Vier4D (contacted them in their instagram). Their smallest size is MSD and I put on a pair for my Sarang 14, Hina. Hina is the most spoiled girl I have. There are no lenses in the glasses, just frame. They are made of metal, maybe spring steel or something like that. Looks a lot like they're laser cut. I love how she looks with them.

    37. For some reason my searches have come up nil. Can any Alan owners confirm what size eyes he wears?

    38. I have 12mm in mine.

      • x 2
    39. When I had mine I tried both 12mm and 14mm and they were both nice! For mnf in general I prefer 14mm small iris but Alan didn’t look bad in any of the sizes imo!

      Login • Instagram

Here’s my Alan when I had him, both sets of eyes if you swipe through are 14mm, the black/purple are the default 14mm.

      • x 1
    40. @Karra @eleniel 12 definitely seems the way to go. I thought his eye sockets looked a bit smaller than other mnfs I've owned. Have either of you noticed any gaping issues with using 12s due to the width of the eye socket?

    41. @akaisha0 I don’t believe I did but that was mainly because the eyes I used were low dome acrylics. I don’t have any pics of those though unfortunately bc I liked 14. If I remember right 14 takes up the full space though, so anything smaller than 12 you’ll definitely get gaps and I don’t think he had big enough sockets for 16 like some older heads do. Hopefully Eleniel has some pics! Grats on the TS Alan though, he truly is a treat in TS :3nodding:

    42. @Karra Thank you, friend <3 I am quite excited for him too. I anticipate he'll probably be arriving to the dealer in Feb or March based on current turn arounds. I'll likely wait until he arrives and test the eye size before ordering. I just like having things ready to go right away when I can XD But sometimes it's better to be patient. I buy nearly exclusively EDEs so ordering the wrong size or combination is a costly error lol.

      • x 1
    43. Here is Alan in 12mm low dome ED eyes. I haven't had any gapping issues.
Not the greatest shots but these do show the eyes well at least.

    44. My scowling Alan head I think has 14mms, but they are also a touch on the small iris end of things, and I'm trying to make him look 14 or 15 years old and bigger/wider eyes give a youthful/childish effect. The normal Alan head I lean to wanting to give 12mm eyes, but not really sure if I'm ever going to use the basic head, and if I do not sure for same character. I might make him a sister with it someday. /shrug

    45. I agree that the 12mm is definitely the way to go. His eyes are smaller and I currently have a pair of 12 mm mako eyes in him that looked too small with my other minifees. The irises are supposed to be 6mm but these seem slightly smaller.

    46. I've been doing some hybriding research, and I just want to make sure I am getting this right--would the Doll Leaves WS body and/or ResinSoul WS bodies work with a MNF WS head? I have two that need bodies, and would just as soon have a less expensive body for at least one of them. (Ah, MiniFees... I told myself I could only have one because of the cost, and now I have four...)

    47. I know @Zavrinas has popped a minifee head on a doll leaves body before but they were NS. She might be able to give insight into proportions though!

    49. On no I already like the colors of her fullset! The crown looks great too! I hope she doesn't release until like April lol I'd like a few paychecks to save. Good thing DDE has such generous layaways!

    50. yes! i’ll probably just get the outfit though, but she is extremely pretty :D i kind of want the outfit for my iset!

    51. Yes and so very thankful is a girl, I'm tapped out for doll funds right now. (Partly fairylands fault there XD) So just chilling and counting days to my Ingrid plus boy body layaway being done and I can make a vampire boy.(Also waiting on my big Alan)

Anyway as lovely as the new girl is so glad it's a girl, as if a new boy and I might have been in trouble. I'm very picky on female MNFs, but boys are almost pokemon I want to catch them all. XD Her outfit looks really pretty though and I look forward to owner photos.

    52. Yes. :love She's very pretty and she has white eyelashes. A Minifee with white eyelashes is still on my wishlist..
Gonna wait for more pictures of her first though.

    55. Is there a sculpt list anywhere with the faces of the seeming hundreds of different nanuri/sarang heads? I've snagged one i thought was very cute and the previous owner mentioned that the name misleads some people about which one it is since they're ALL Nanuri/Sarang/etc/ with some number.

      • x 2
    56. @Rosslyn Over here! /threads/all...-heads-2007-2021-updated-january-2021.790497/

I think the ones that are most confusing are the ones with more than one head from the same event, and the Nanuris from events that cross over years... i.e., the one commonly called Nanuri 19-20 might be confused with Nanuri 19-2 (which is SUPER sought after). Fairyland is not super consistent with how they label in insides of the heads as far as I can tell.

PS: Eagerly anticipating who the next Lookback heads will be, assuming that they continue! I've seen some of the first ones come in and Lishe is very clearly a new version with more Delf-like proportions, which I personally am super excited about. My fingers are crossed very hard for a new Minifee Soony and Shiwoo!

      • x 2
    57. Yes, the one I found is Nanuri 19/20, rather than 19-2, who is lovely but not really my thing. Thank you for the link!

    58. Hey, does anyone know (roughly) how often Fairyland will open orders for a fairyline body? I have a boy I'd love to get one for so he can try on the Altis hooves I just got for him!

    59. Adopted a Klaus vamp head from the marketplace. no name for him yet. He's on a white Carol body. not the best match for proportion, but I really don't want more bodies!
I have 1 each tan, white, and normal minis, the white and tan are girls. Oh, well. creative styling and photography. His company faceup is remarkable, yet I like this pic with less color and detail.
Wigs are a problem for the guys. FL wigs are too small yet 6/7 is big and too foofy.
