Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 65

Jul 31, 2020

    1. i guess if its only person it's less impactful. That's why I want to put together a list...and we don't know if they take international customers into account with popularity...IDK if it'll do anything but at least they'll know there IS demand for them. I managed to snag a whole shiwoo second hand through Zenmarket but I still want a sleeping head (or to replace my vampire head with another one QAQ)

    2. i would assume they would, i’m sure they know that they have a decent enough customer base outside of their home country since they have DDE as their US/english dealer? they wouldn’t be established with a dealer otherwise, or one that’s english language. from being on the customer service end (receiving product requests in a similar setting for a small company, not specifically BJDs but still artist based) too that response is the kind of response also that probably means not much might happen even with that unless they officially have some kind of poll or event based around that. or they just don’t have much of an interest themselves in reviving something just because their company’s direction changed. sounds weird yes, but it happens :XD:

i don’t know if the GO thing/list or whatever would work but i doubt it could hurt! maybe just make an instagram post that’s like “gauging interest for old heads, comment here if you have an old head you want to see back” or something. change.org, i dunno

    3. I don't have an instagram but maybe i could do one in general disscussion? or a google doc form?

    4. Gosh, remember when you couldn't throw a rock around here without hitting a minifee shiwoo (or chiwoo!), though? Now you can hardly find them at all! I still regret selling mine years back, though I was lucky enough to snap up a scar shiwoo to replace him eventually, so that's something!

I picked up some really great shoes for my girls last month and they finally arrived! They suit my mnf Ria perfectly <3 <3
      [IMG]
They have those red soles like those louboutin heels and I love them XD

    5. a google doc form is a good idea!! would be an organized way to collect all the important info. I think you can even get graphs and stuff from it, if I remember right.

    6. @Yuns Thank you so much that's an awesome picture:love I had no idea the color is so much darker and gorgeous. Now I'm regretting seeing it. Wish I got Eva in Agra tan.

@Urushi-kitty I think that's a great idea. Wonder if FairyLand would consider re-releasing event heads too? I have been looking for Yuri 08 and Yuri 14 but no luck.

      • x 1
    7. People asked Fairyland about the Juri 08 on the past but it was a dead end. The sculpt is insanely popular. I recently saw one listed for $800

    8. Yeah I don't think they'd re-release event heads but we might have a chance with standard sculpts. I'm gonna be putting together a google list (or poll? haven't decided which yet) and sending the results to FL...

    9. The status for my order containing Carol and the winter event items just changed to Before Shipping. It's been on the In Production status for months because EMS was cut off to Australia. I'm wondering if this means she's about to ship out, or if this is just Fairyland remembering that they never changed the status after she was done casting.

Is she about to be on her way, or is this just a giant tease?!

    10. They did pay attention to that, and release it as a SD head in response... and then discovered it wasn't as popular as people said, or at least, not in that size.

    11. Thank you everyone. I knew chances where slim I thought I give it a try. Wow $800 didn't think it would be that high.

@rougeaerie I just checked. Mine also changed to "before shipping" after months of waiting since EMS stopped shipping to the Netherlands. There is no tracking number yet. I do hope it's not a tease.

    12. Really? I didn't remember this, which SD head was it?

    13. F60 Juri 2012, which was a remake of the Delf Juri 2005, which was one of the least popular Delf heads going around. They released it because originally they were going to release an F60 Breakaway event head but hadn't announced it, instead hinting it was a very popular MNF event head. But "everyone" seemingly protested that it wasn't all that popular, so they released the F60 Juri 2012 instead as that was what people were protesting was the most popular MNF head.

The result was a not particularly popular F60 event head.

    14. I honestly don’t understand why they would release it in a different size. I’m pretty well entrenched in the 1/4 scale so for me, no matter how much I adore a sculpt I won’t purchase it if it’s larger than msd sized.

    15. I'd like to participate!!! I just sent an e-mail to FairyLand regarding MiniFee Ari and I know they will send the standard answer.

    16. It was an F60 event - could have even been the original launch event, I honestly can't remember. But the issue was that they had said the head was "the most popular MNF event head", which is what caused the dispute about what was the most popular event head.

Anyway, you do have to remember that the MNF Juri 08 was actually created from the Delf Juri 05...

    17. I really wish they'd release event heads. The nanuri14 is my grail doll but I really dont want to drop like 600 on just a head.. :/ I'd be happy if they'd release her again but without the elf ears or something. I know it's not going to happen, but a girl can dream xD

    18. Thank you so much!

    19. Does anyone have recommendations for clothes for a Fairyline boy body? The slim hips have been a concern. I am looking at some Luts either MDelf or KDelf clothes at the moment.

    20. Just a fun shot of my Mirwen with my 2 little Pipos Domas who arrived over the weekend.

    21. Unfortunately, I really don't know. :(

@JinCIncy your Mirwen is gorgeous! She is my all time favorite FL sculpt. I fell in love with her when they first posted the Victoria Frances picture of her, and waited years for her to come in SD size. I Love them in MNF size too. It's that squared bottom lip and those heavy eyelids that are so special IMO :D

    22. @JinCIncy *love* your enchanting Mirwen!!! Her little playmates are charming too!

I wanted to share my Rhea (ns Rens) in her repurposed summer dress. I’d made this
little dress for a Kish Chrysalis (14” child-like doll) no longer in residence. The bodice
was too large, so I disassembled it, added darts, removed the fabric from behind the
lace insertions, regathered the skirt, and reassembled it. While it doesn’t fit perfectly,
I think it’s still a cute little summery dress - now for a minifee.

    23. Hello, does anyone know if Minifee can be airbrushed to a slightly darker skin color? I just missed the option to order a tan Minifee and my daughter is really upset I don’t own a darker skinned doll ( my daughter is brown skinned so it’s important to her).
I’d be happy to airbrush or blush her. Even if it’s only a bit darker would be an improvement. Is that possible?

      • x 1
    24. @Natalie.Jua yes, it is possible, but I f you do this to the body, it will likely scratch off, no matter how careful you are. I know heads are painted, but that's a much smaller area to be careful with.

If I were you, I would at least buy a tan body second hand, then you can match the head, or go with a company that offers tan. I mean, it depends on what you want. Luts has a similar aesthetic and they always seem to have tan available now.

    25. Thanks. I don’t mind buying the whole doll second hand. I’m just afraid of getting a recast. But maybe I should wait until I get Market place access here. I guess that’s safer than eBay. But I’ll look at Luts. I’m just not very patient but maybe it’s worth the wait. I don’t want my daughter to not see girls like herself in my collection.

    26. @Natalie.Jua another option could be to either wait for FLs next tan release (probably this winter) or get a normal skin doll and dye her darker (or get it done by someone) :) I've dyed my normal skin MNF Siean darker too because she was never released in tan.

    27. @Natalie.Jua I have seen a few tan dolls floating around on IG and facebook. There is a tan Celine (whole doll) on a minifee group.

    28. How is dying? I'm curious how it holds up over time? I'm afraid to dye my dolls, LOL, but I don't think Fairyland does ANY sanding on their dolls, which would maybe mean, no marbling? Or is sanding everywhere the safest bet?

I'm worried that even a dyed doll will scratch off?

Anyway, speaking of which, do you have a picture of your Siean? She sounds beautiful?!

    29. I’m new to groups so I haven’t even considered this. Maybe buying a doll private would be a good option

    30. The dolls I dyed so far all hold their colors pretty well :) Fairyland does do sanding on some parts (wrists for example), but with a light dye job they're not visible that much (none, on my Siean).
Don't sand dolls before you dye them. I don't really know where people get that idea, but if you get a brand new doll you don't have to completely sand it to get an eyen dye done - if the doll is already heavily modded, then yes, you can do that, but normally you don't.
Dyes don't scratch off. They're -in- the resin (albeit only the topmost layer), and you can only scratch it if you really, intentionally try to scratch them, like, with a knife. They -can- rub of on parts with a lot of force - my dyed Feeple65 body (purple dye) got some marks on her ellbows, but FP65 and Minifee use vastly different strings and therefore the chance for that to happen on a Minifee are slim.
And here's a pic of my girl :) She's on a centaur body.
(you can see the very light sanding marks on her wrists, they're slightly darker. Tbh original tan bodies from fairyland have the same marks, so you'll always be able to see them.)

    31. Oh she’s beautiful. you did amazing Personally I would not know how to dye. But I airbrushed some sporting guns with something called Duracoat. Even when firing the paint stays. It’s only training bullets, so not like a real bullet but still.
My old Siean is very yellowed anyways.

      • x 1
    32. That is amazing, I may seriously have to do this!

    33. @meanae I can't get over how beautiful she turned out. She's a stunner.

    34. I have no idea how I missed your lovely girl, @meanae , she is stunning!

    35. After spending a week or so deciding on which MiniFee sculpt I wanted [eventually deciding on "Mio"], I couldn't help but notice the lack of skin tones offered. I wish they had a brown skin or an ebony skin for their line! I like the tan, but wanted something a little darker. It would be absolutely fantastic if they offered them eventually, and I would totally be willing to pay a premium.

Has anyone ever had experience in dying a MiniFee doll or know of somewhere where this service is offered?

    36. @Sirens4Ever , I don't think you will see Fairyland make darker dolls, and this is not because they don't like them, but because the failure rate of the resin's appearance is high. It marbles and then they get complaints from the customer, and it's difficult to produce. That's why the tan is so light.

However, this must be due to the type of resin they use, because Impldoll, a Chinese company, makes a whole range of colors and only charge $50 more for the darker ones. Their dolls are even sandable! I have not had any darker dolls long enough from Impl to know how stable the color is, especially since I protect them like a mother hen. However, I have old Fairyland dolls, and they are, to my eyes, exactly the same color as dolls 7 or 8 years newer. I just don't think Fairyland will give up their color stability. But you never know. I sure would love it if they would at least offer the tan more often, but it's so dang rare :(

    37. Does anyone have both a Rohan and an Altis they can share pictures of? I’m planning out a doll in advance and trying to decide between the two sculpts. The rest of my dolls are mostly Luts and Daydream so I’m trying to find sculpts that would fit in well with my current crew.

    38. I am s sculptor myself and have casted resin. I think you are right that there are better options for colored resin out there. I can’t speak on fairy lands reasons though.
I just got too late to buy a tan Minifee and I’m frustrated that I’ll now have to wait. But I don’t think that it’s a huge priority for them to offer darker skin tones. To me it seems many people want them.

    39. Thank you @IngieBee and @PaeoniaDrop <3

I do that ;) did that, if you scroll a bit up. I've also dyed a tan centaur body to a darker, greyer tan before.

    40. I haven't dyed a doll, but I also wish they'd offer a darker skin colour. I know other companies offer them, but Fairyland is just my favorite. I'm too scared to dye a doll dark though

      • x 1
    41. Wow. You did a phenomenal job! She's absolutely stunning. I'm happy that some of us can dye the dolls ourselves, then. There's a character of mine that I eventually want to shell and she's of a darker complexion. I will probably need to figure how to get that done when the time comes. But I'm pleased that it's an option and seems to do the trick! Thank you for sharing!

    42. Does anyone know if Minifee girls can wear chic line clothes?

    43. i think chic line is slimmer/smaller? So i'm not sure if it'd fit unless it had good stretch

    44. They really are so much smaller. Maybe with some stretchy clothes, it'd work, but yah, it would be hard. They fit Tyler Wentworth pretty well, but I couldn't put Tyler Wentworth on my mnf dolls. At least not what I have tried on them.

    46. This is So beautiful. I was not on DDE since I was too late on getting a tan Minifee. I was so upset. But I will look for this outfit

    47. Thanks @Natalie.Jua ! They will offer tan again...................it always comes back around. The outfits are really cute and there are several colors of both the underdress and the overdress for mix and match possibilities.

    48. I really love fantasy and medieval outfits. I know they’ll offer tan agin but it was for my daughter, she’s brown skinned and wants a doll that looks like herself. Maybe I’ll order her a Model Delf.

    49. Hope its okay to request some Honoka spam? ❤️

    50. Sure thing! This is Molly:

    54. She's super cute, my Honoka is still without faceup. I'm being patient.

In other topics, I want to share with you that I got a 2nd hand MiniFee Ari head!! :D I'm so excited, let's hope that shipping won't be that slow (it's international).

    56. I wanted to share this with everyone. The outfit was made for an Angell Studio MSD and this is the fit. The sleeves are a little long, but nothing that can't be pinned or pulled up. [IMG]
