Here are some of my "before-after" pictures. I hope you enjoy them Before: After: Before: After: Right after the shooting I load all my photos into Lightroom and make a short makeover, like enhancing colors or make the photos darker or brighter. Then I decide which photos I want to keep and finally overwork them in Photoshop :-)
Before and After (in 4 steps): Comparison between step 3 & step 4 (image 4 looks sharper than image 3): Comparison between step 1 (original) & step 4 (final):
I wanted to give my latest photostory a spooky effect so all of my pictures got a similar tweak to them:
Before: After: a touch of vintage. by ✿ balthier, on Flickr Realised I missed some hairs when editing them out. I need some wig wax for the Monique wigs cause brushing them doesn't help. I'm going to be reading a lot of tips here and looking at more tutorials to better aid my editing skills. XD
You know, I've always thought that you guys' photos came out looking that beautiful (minus the very, very obviously edited ones) and I never tried taking any pictures of Ophelia. You're all making it much easier for me to try it.
GO FOR IT!!!! These new digital cameras give you a lot to work with. Take in high-res because you never know when your "picture" is going to be some tiny area of the picture. Try not to overexpose. You can often pull detail out of the darker areas, but once it goes to white, you're pretty much hosed. And the free digital manipulation programs like Gimp can teach you a lot. All the filters are fun, but learning to pull the information out of a pic and compose it well are your first steps.
Ah ha . . . I am so bad with editing (I always either do too much, or feel like I could push it more), maybe I ought to look up some tutorials ^^;; My most recent--
I often edit my photies. The light is terrible in my house so that always requires tweaking. Plus I love bright colours especially if I'm taking outside pics so I nearly always bump up the saturation
A new simple edit I've been getting progressively more simplistic with my editing X_X Keep doing less and less as time goes on.
Here's my most recent. Before: Angelic : Original by amaliee, on Flickr After: Angelic Light by amaliee, on Flickr
I'm in the habit of always editing my photos now. ^^;; Gets annoying and troublesome when there are more than a hundred though. Haha. But usually I do the basic colour/contrast/brightness adjustments and cropping before resizing the pics to display on the web. I've learnt a lot through the years, and sometimes re-edit my older photos for fun. (Life, I has nonez.) XD Before: After:
I used photoshoop before starting in the hobby, so it was natural for me to use it. Just to ajust my pictures. I really need to find the perfect ajustment and shoot for my pictures.

Before --> After (I usually end up giving a blue/cold cast to my photos, but decided to try something warmer this time ^^)
I recently edited this old photo (it's taken 2 years ago) to make a photo editing tutorial. (Part 1 and Part 2).
These are all incredible to look at, and so useful to see the pic and hear what was done in the edit.
I dont have an awesome camera so i take pictures with my phone and photoshop them xD My most recent edit :3 Repainted the background and ribbon + fixed the colors
Took a very bad "base" picture in this case. It was one of these "lemme show you this quick" photos, so I just popped him next to the window and quickly took the photo. While with editing I saved a lot I wouldn't advice doing that all the time, editing the picture took me way longer than taking it, and for such a simple photo this shouldn't be necessary. Also it really doesn't look that good. Original, unedited photo: Photo after Lightroom: Finished photo, I usually don't edit that way (I prefer more crispy, natural looks) but I loved the soft look in this case:
I usually sharpen my photos to show more details~ sometimes the colors as well, when the camera didn't pick up the color I want to have in the photos
What a fun thread I like to work with Photoshop and play with filters and light. I almost never remember what I did on the latest photo though ^^' Here is some of my newest photos :3
I usually just edit to improve lighting and colour a bit, though sometimes I play around a bit more. Before: After: Tattoo Glamour shot by Mittebam, on Flickr And later I wanted to see if this shot would work in black&white too: Coille Mor BW by Mittebam, on Flickr
Some wonderful results here! Aren't we lucky to have editing programs so we can bring out the best in our pictures?
Yes! I'm so thankful to photoshop, I really baad at photography :c... Here's a photo that I've edited few days ago~ http://www.flickr.com/photos/110507022@N04/11604046674/
As my DC is poor at taking picture in dark place, I will edit it in photoshop to make in more clear Before: After: Also some time I edit the color and the shadow: before: After:
Anatomy of an edit. I thought I'd share my editing workflow. Like others here I like my image to be correct out of the camera and this one is not bad. 0 is the RAW image saved as a JPG 1 follows my global edits; Color correct, a touch of curves to open detail in his shirt, crop. 2 follows my local edits; take out the pink thread on his sleeve and soften much of the periphery. Not a lot of editing but the final is definitely improved. [/IMG]
Interesting Thread o.O I wish I was that good with Photoshop as most people here. I mostly use Pixlr, cause it's a lot easier than Photoshop xD"
I have a couple to share. I edit in different ways depending on the feeling that I'm going for. I use Photoshop Lightroom. It's a lot of fun, and pretty easy to pick up on. This one I wanted her white skin to stand out, and a higher level of contrast: Before: After: This one I wanted a realistic look with intense shadows. I can't believe how washed out and overexposed the original was : Before: After:
I've just bought a new camera - a terrible one! Only £70 - I'd be lost without photoshop elements 5 (which I got used copy of from amazon) I only use 'quick fix' for editing - I just crop, lighten, bump up the contrast, warmth, pinkness and saturation, and sharpen it too. (Dollzone Flora and ndoll petit coco)
Other than black and whites, I do not further edit my pictures (i.e. post-post processing: Lightroom --> Photoshop). Everyone's artistic style is different, so I like seeing other people's work. Haha I am just humbled nearly everyone Shoots in RAW! Before: Cpt. Jack 2 by LordOcelot, on Flickr After: Cpt. Jack by LordOcelot, on Flickr
wow you are all so talented! :O I almost always edit my pictures! Here is a before and after pic: Before: After: Not really a big difference :P But the light in my garden was really good today so i got lucky ^^
Wow! This thread is amazing! Love how skilled everyone are to be able to make good pics into stunning ones. Actually, I was always too lazy to adjust my pics so I usually uploaded them as how they were... orz But after seeing everyone's, I'm eager to edit one of them just to post on this thread lol I love howKuroItami edited the second picture! SO STUNNING!!! Never heard of Pixir before, interesting. XD
