Dust of Dolls Appi discussion part 1

Finished the face-up for my attitude boy! ^_^ I'm pretty satisfied with it, since it's been a while since I last did a face-up! I had also finished his wig earlier this month, I'm so happy with how he looks! ^-^

I'm loving everyone's new dolls! And wow, @Shailara, your boy is amazing! I love the color scheme you chose.
I had my eyes (and caaash) saved for a different doll during the preorder, so I missed out. I would have LOVED a cöta, though, to go with my meël. I would have named her Crimson, and would now have Crimson and Clover. Maybe on their next appi release, hehe.

Anyway, before shooting pics of the new doll I mentioned, (a Volks Jo) I took some test shots of my meël. They turned out a little dark, but I'm still relatively happy with them and thought I'd share one here, as I haven't been active in a while.

Has anyone that ordered Esthy faceup got their doll ?
I am still waiting for my two. I know Esthy finished and sent the heads to Dust of Dolls to ship out. Just curious! and did anyone get a shipping notice email for your Esthy faceup doll yet?

 

I would absolutely love one! I want an honest Mini-Me, so a chubby or fat doll would be great, and these DoD are so soft-looking, too! Everything is squishy

I wonder what sized shoes would fit for Cöti/Cöta? I have hard time on finding fitting shoes for mine.
Are shoes that go for Littlefee too big for Cöti/Cöta?

 

I tried a Littlefee pair and it was definitely too big. But I asked MarbleMoonShop on Etsy and she's able to make shoes for this size she does amazing work so you should try there!

 

Hi all! I've been knitting socks for my Appi Cota. I think I finally perfected my pattern for it. Here's the pattern if anyone's interested in knitting their own! I edited an MSD sized pattern for it. (though not sure where I found it, I forgot to save the source, sorry!)

Socks for Dust of Dolls Appi

Requirements: very fine yarn, such as Habu fine merino. 0,7mm needles and 1mm needles.
(If too intimidated by 0,7mm you’ll be fine using 1mm needles for the cast on row!)

Cast on 44 stitches with 0,7mm needles and habu fine merino yarn. Join in the round

Rib 10 rows k1tbl, p1. Switch to 1mm needles.

Knit 18 rows. Every 3rd round, decrease 1 stitch
Row 3: dec 1 st at beginning of round
Row 6: dec 1 st at end of round
Row 9: dec 1 st at beginning of round
Row 12: dec 1 st at end of round
Row 15: dec 1 st at beginning of round
Row 18: dec 1 st at end of round

38 stitches remaining

Heel shaping:
Re-arrange needles so that the decreases are exactly in the back. 19 stitches on both needles.

Work heel flap back and forth on 19 stitches:
Row 1 RS (Sl1, K1) repeat
Row 2 WS Sl1, P23
Work these two rows 8 times.

Turn the heel, still working back and forth, Turn the heel, still working back and forth, starting on the RS:

Row 1 Sl1, K10, SSK, K1, turn
Row 2 Sl1, P4, P2tog, P1, turn
Row 3 Sl1, K to last st before gap, SSK, K1, turn
Row 4 Sl1, P to last st before gap, P2tog, P1, turn

Repeat Rows 3&4 until all stitches have been worked.
11 stitches remain on the heel.

K across all st on RS and resume working in the round.

Gussets:
P/U 6 st +1st in the “crotch” between heel and instep sides. Knit instep stitches. P/U gusset on the other side as the first, 1 + 6.
You will now have 25 stitches on the heel side (7 + 11 + 7).

K 1 round even.The beginning of the round remains where it started.
On the heel side only, reduce one st at each gusset end every other row (I do: K1, SSK, K……, K2tog, K1) until 19 stitches remain on the heel side.

Reduce one st at each end of BOTH sides every other round until 16 st remain, then every round until 8 st remain. Cut yarn, thread a needle and cinch up the last 8 sts. Work in ends. Wash. Block. Admire!

Can anyone tell me how much Coti was from the company? The prices aren't showing on the site.

 

400 euros nude 464 euros w/ makeup + shipping + credit card fees for conversion rates

Though my friend and I sold our Coti for $750 as that seems to be around the going rate for them currently; more or less.

 

Awww, man, I totally forgot to share my Cöta I got at the Dolls du Lac convention in May! Here she is! Isn't she a cutie??? She came as a fullset by Esthy. Gosh I adore that cutie

I have been aching for a Kohl or Meel!!! All of these dolls are precious beyond words!

How much are Kohl and Meel going for currently if anyone knows?

I spent 900 on my LE Blue Menthe Meel the December after they were released at LDoll... I suspect anyone selling a limited color meel is going to price them pretty high. I can't imagine parting with my gal though, she's my grail!

Someone is offering me an Appi Kohl who’s a bit damaged for $500USD I think? They priced in euros so i’m not 100%. Is this a total rip off?? I want my grail doll but I don’t wanna be cheated

edit: added USD to the figure to clarify!

 

I paid USD $550 for a blank Khol direct from DoD when she was released in 2013. 500 Euro is about USD $580 so... not bad! Depends on the damage but considering they haven't been released again I would go for it! You could always make a counter offer if you feel it's too high because of the damage.

 

They offered 390 euro, but again the doll has broken hands and the face has been altered so I'm super nervous! (also nervous bc it's over facebook and I don't know if it's trustworthy or not!)

I guess right now there are couple of Khol (normal and ws) and one Meel in the market, the price is from $500 and $650 to 600 euros

 

I think it really depends how much you want her; if it's worth paying $460 usd for her even though she is damaged and modded. Since Khol is usually around $500-650, it's up to you if you rather wait for a chance of an undamaged Khol and pay $40-190 more.

Just 5 days ago, an undamaged Khol with face up, box and CoA was sold on eBay for around $450 including shipping.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out she can wear Pure Neemo tops and socks. I don't have proper clothes or a wig for her but I think she looks cute in her current getup. She's in need of sueding tho because she's super kicky but I love her regardless. ^_^

Ahhhh everyone's dolls are just so lovely! I'm really hoping that they'll release Cota in a lilac/violet color skintone! Like the blue bunny but purple!

I can't get over how much I love this gal - I want to actually re-do her a little since I experimented with some techniques! And I'm thinking of actually trying out dying for the first time to really get that gradient on her hands right. I want it to go to her arms but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of blushing joints. I'm so nervous to dye a limited doll though!

Yep, I've got these news directly from DoD and they told that Wawa will be very soon on preorder, but no word about other dolls Wawa is too big for me but appi size is perfect Are you planning to get Wawa too?

 

AHHHHH!! This is awesome! Wawa is truly gorgeous but she is too big for my liking! I think I am more attracted to the smaller dolls, 35cm or less? I had a 43cm doll and I just thought she was.. clunky? Maybe it was the specific doll sclupt, I'm not sure!
I have a secondhand Appi Khol on layaway currently which is so exciting!! I think I want Meel too if she comes up on the preorder

 

Congratulations for Khol Both, she and Meel are on my wishlist to get some day, would love to get them in a preorder, even one of them Okay I have to say that I have Coti on layaway too from yesterday I hope I will like her in real as much as I like her on photos can't wait to get her

 

@Belle Magni - I am sure you will love her tons! I regret selling my Cota - she's so lovely in all the photos and I worry if DoD does not do a second release in a different skintone that it will be very difficult to get her in the future.

Hi everyone!! I will be getting my khol soon and from the pictures, one of her hands looks a bit discolored (I think that's why I am getting such a good deal on her ) I was wondering if there's anywhere I can buy new hands lol. I know dod has them out of stock, but would it be worth it to maybe email them? or am I just doomed to search the marketplace? I highly doubt there's a floating pair of appi khol hands somewhere, but who knows. i'll love her regardless of her hands, but I just wanted to ask the experts!!
