Jan 15, 2010

1. i can see that too. she is very versatile then. i love her current ethnic look, it works really well with the terra cotta pots

2. My girl got new eyes and wig...think I have finally found her look...for now, anyway!

3. ooh I loved seeing the Hiro and Nyu pics in this thread! I really like the Hiro sculpt so when I found out that it was being discontinued, I was so upset :( My doll plans for the year were to get a body for my floating head or some kind of 1/12 doll (maybe both depending on how the rest of the year goes...) so lately I've been wondering if I should abandon my plans and get myself a Hiro or if I really want a Hiro more than the other things on my list. tbh, she was not the *highest* on my list, but I'm still sad to see her go. Enough so that it's causing me guilt that I probably won't get her lol. It's okay though, living vicariously through these owner pics is fun!! :)

4. Valeriana's wig finally arrived! It still needs a little styling, but I was in a rush today...

5. I love love love seeing more DZ dragons! Moon has such a cute face! I would love to have one!

However, I do have some DZ Star spam :D Say hello to Kaida, she is finished at last!

9. Umi~Pyon - Your Moon's detailing is so gorgeous! The snowflakes are so pretty! :)

10. Wow I love the details on the snowflakes. Nicely done

11. moony is lovely and the snowflakes are impressive. are the shiny bits crystals or metallic paint?

12. Who needs a hairbrush when you have claws?

13. No Ivy or Isis yet? All the pity... I want one some day for my SOOM fairy doll. I wish I could get tan though.

14. Hi everyone!
It is my Inari. (:

15. Oh she's super cute! Welcome to the thread!

16. If I had the money, I'd have at least one by now. But that money went towards a different doll.

A little Lily spam.

18. not yet, but i'm hoping to bring home an ivy later this year

she is lovely

lily has an eve the cat! i have one of those on order too. what size is yours?

19. auntbear - she is the 5cm one!

20. I've been offline a month due to building maintenance destroying my phone line! Oh the horror - no dolly shopping or forum fixes - I had to read a book instead! :o

loving the pics everyone :fangirl: especially love Megan's new look Jules - she's an absolute cutie - maybe I do need one after all

also loving the dragons - wow Umi-Pyon your Moon's faceup/bodyblush is amazing! I've still done nothing with mine of course :sweat

I have in fact spent the month having a purge of my dolly collection! I was only going to keep Yogr from my tiny collection, but as I had a spare 1/4 Angel of Dream body lying around, I thought I'd just try Miss Kitty's head on it....and BAM!!! Miss Kitty is all grown up now! :o I REALLY love her so totally much on this body - and even though her head's white, the AoD body is the same very pale shade of 'pink' as dollzone was doing last year - and with her default faceup being so peachy, it looks like a resin match! Of course the neck is waaaay too big for the head socket - but it doesn't matter in my opinion - she has better side-to-side head movement than she did on the default DZ body! No nodding back/forward movement to her head, but I'm fine with that - And her ears even stay on better too, as her head doesn't wobble and lol back on this neck, like it did on the skinny default body - she's wearing the default kitty wig too :D Really needs some clothes now I've got the internet back - Alices collection here I come....

21. Welcome back elve! I love what you've done with Miss kitty! She looks so much more 'right' on an msd sized body.
I still have my five trouble makers, and decided they all needed a complete makeover! Since I like Japanese school uniforms, and I couldn't find any that would fit and not cost me the price of another doll, I decided to make my own. So far it's only been two weeks and I have the five shirts almost done.:sweat I still need to make three pair of shorts for the boys, and two pleated skirts for the girls, plus socks, shoes....face ups, wigs, yeah that's all!:o

22. thanks kurogane :)wow you are good - I have officially given up sewing! I look forward to seeing your creations - I wonder if jackets from fashion dolls would fit them? Not usually very well made though, compared to bjd clothes - you can probably do better yourself if you have the patience :blush

Meanwhile my other tiny 'keeper', Yogr, who has no other name so Yoga it is - and she may be a boy or a girl - I can't decide! One thing I'm sure of is I love that smoochie little face of hers - utterly cute! She has new eyes now too, as well as Kitty's old wig :fangirl:

23. elve -Yoga is really cute! :D

I'm sewing girl and boy sailor suits from a Momoko pattern. The shirt fits perfectly with just minor adjustments to length and cuff width. I found out the hard way that the cuffs are too tight and the hands can't go through them when turned right side out. They were really beautiful cuffs too, all now in the garbage.:( I decided to save my sanity and just make the shirts 3/4 sleeve as I already had them sewn, and not remake the cuffs -after all, there are 10 of them! once was more than enough. Lesson learned, always make it a smidgen bigger, and measure, measure, measure! Or have dolls with magnetic hands!

24. Elve - I love that your Miss Kitty is on an MSD body as well! Doesn't she work great like that?

Kurogane - Sorry to hear about the mishap with the cuffs... It always sucks when something like that happens. You could always take the hands off and put ribbon on the elastic to pull it through the sleeve before putting the hands back on!

I got some Lily spam today! It's finally spring here so I took her out to the park.

25. Elve thanks for the kind words about Megan Rose. She is a darling in that outfit, hair and eyes, I really love her look. Miss Kitty looks fabulous, glad you sorted her out! I have also had a bit of a purge. Moon is going, she is on hold for a new forever mummy...I am afraid Sis is the only DZ doll I will have left soon....

26. well I'm glad you're keeping her Jules - she's special, and I never got around to ordering a Sis in the end :...(

thank you kurogane :) I hope the sewing is going well now - I'm looking forward to seeing your gang dressed up!

and yes IzabethS - you are a genius for thinking of this combination - It never would have occurred to me as I'd only just realised you could change a doll's eyes - never mind change their body LOL - Lily looks lovely as ever :fangirl:

today I bought my Kitty an outfit from Alices which I'd wanted forever, but until now didn't have a doll to suit it - It will look great on her I think, although I think her bust might need a little padding :XD:

27. IzabethS -Thanks for the tip about the hands and a ribbon. I'll make sure to have that one written down!

elve -I'm eagerly awaiting pictures of your new and improved Miss K!

I finished sewing the FIVE shirts and have them on the dolls -they look great, phew! I'm now sewing the two pleated skirts. First time ever, and it's been interesting, lol. I still have to find, or adapt a shorts pattern and only need to make three pair, so, yeah, I have a LOT more work to do. So far it's been about three weeks, the longest time I've ever spent working on something for my bjds. It'll be well worth it though. I will share pictures when they are dressed, by the end of this month? I also ordered each a new wig and they should arrive by the time I've finished sewing -at least that's my plan. I am dreading doing the face ups though, as I want them anime style. I think sewing will be the easier task!

28. I'm still amazed the the Miss Kitty head fits on a MSD very cool and makes her more versatile...so I have a question sorry if its already been shown not sure I have the time to dig through 47 pages...but I'm curious if the Dollzone Moon/Star head fits on a MSD and does anyone have photos? thanks bunches.

29. Kitty Blue - I've seen a picture of a Star or Moon (not sure which) head on a DZ Renata with the thorn arms. The head looked very good on the msd body. The doll is owned by VampireAngel13 here on doa. I don't remember if she had to mod the neck though.

30. I've tried the dragon head on Doll Chateau and Doll Leaves MSD girl bodies. I'll add links to pics when I'm not on my phone.

31. I have a friend who has a DZ Moon/DC alberta hybrid. The link for how she looks is here.

32. oh that's a really cute hybrid IzabethS :D

Kitty Blue I should stress that the Miss Kitty head sits on the front of the AoD midi neck, which is way bigger than the head hole for the kitty head. But it has good side to side movement (ie looking right and left) just no up and down movement. I had to use a tiny head hook too - the midi one was way too big. She looked cute as a tiny but the head wasn't very stable, and the tiniest wobble made the ears fall off :sweat

kurogane I hope your creative projects are still going well - I would self-combust with frustration at sewing all those tiny clothes!

33. My friend did not need to do any modding to make the Moon and Star heads fit on that body, so DC kid bodies seem to have the same circumference as the DZ YoSD bodies (the 25cm ones, not the slim 27cm ones...).

34. elve -LOL! I thought I was going crazy thinking of doing such a large project, but it's helping me bond more, and keeps me focused on just them. I can say one thing, having to sew for five dolls has put me off from wanting any more. I'm only looking at dolls that don't need wigs, or clothes from now on. :sweat

35. thank you so much for the link...wow the head is pretty looks like it does fit really well, that is fabulous I was think about trying one to put on my leekeworld art body though the neck is a tad bigger on that body than the DC

36. yes I love that doll chateau baby body - it's the cutest thing with that little pouty face!

37. oh boy that head is really cute on the DC baby body..hmmm the Doll Leaves body is ok..but does make the head seem smaller on that one. Makes me wonder how it would look on the Leekeworld Art body..eek.

38. I think its the neck size that makes the head look small on the Doll Leaves body. I have a DC kid head / Doll Leaves hybrid with the same wig size as the dragons, but the head is made for a larger neck than the dragons.

How does the neck size compare between the dragon and art body?

39. Hello everyone, I am a first timer here and I am so glad that at the moment some of you are talking about the dragons because I just traded for a Dollzone moon <3 I am so excited for her to come in and reading the other body types that might work is awesome. I wanted to ask, what is her measurements around her dragon body around the stomach? I want to make an obi for her but I'm not sure if she is yosd size or a little wider.

40. Ballet Congrats on your incoming Moon! :fangirl: I dressed my dragons in YOSD size tops, and SD sized skirts one time - I've just measured my Star and she's about 6 inches (15cm) around her 'waist' - depending on how low or high you want it to be, and what style the garment is - Mine took an MSD size wig too, although the one in my recent pic of Star on my flickr is a fatiao (ebay) 6-7"

ETA - I forgot to say, dollzone sell this little dress still for the dragons, even though they're discontinued http://www.doll-zone.com/pro_detail.asp?id=995 and in black http://www.doll-zone.com/pro_detail.asp?id=994

this is my Moon in a fatiao 7-8 wig, and a yosd dress by poinsettia04 (etsy)

41. Oh my goodnessX she is adorable! Thank you so much, I can't wait till she gets home. Thank you for the photo and information ^^

42. Ballet - Yay! Another Moon to join the group!

43. Thank you! I am really excited, she should be in today. May I ask for some spam of the dragons? ^^ I have decided (with the joking help of my bf) to name her Gurlzilla, since Godzilla comes out this Friday lol.

44. are the dragons still available or were they limited?

45. They weren't limited but they got discontinued sadly.

46. that's too bad, they are really cute!

47. Congratulations Ballet - Gurlzilla is a brilliant name LOL :fangirl: Yesterday, having owned them for a year almost to the day, I FINALLY plucked up courage to keep my 2 dragons on display - I've always kept them boxed as I've been so afraid of them falling over - I am very accident prone! So I fetch my camera....But the other day it slipped off a small table (in its case) when I was tidying up and....IT'S DEAD :...( Poor camera - I'd had it 9 years and used it almost daily - only 3mp but it was so easy to use and I am now DREADING having to learn to use a new, modern, gadget loaded camera :nosebleed

No pics till then though, so the hunt is on....I had boxed up all my tinies to sell on ebay, as I'm not so into tinies these days (plus most of them are duplicates bought when I started my dealership a year ago, which is now finished) But yesterday, with time on my hands to list them all, and no camera to photograph them with, I decided to be greedy and keep them all instead :mwahaha Well they can be quintuplets......

So I got them all out of their boxes and named them properly and made a display stand for them from boxes and fleece fabric - My 2 dragons (which came from ThinkPink dealers in the Netherlands) now look as if they are standing guard over their captive band of children LOL - I hope they don't eat them! The thought of dressing all those Mika's and Nyu's was so daunting as I hate sewing - but kurogane made me realise what a wimp I am  Let battle with needle and thread commence!

48. elve -Go for it! I do know Mokomo patterns work as I have done shirts, skirts, and shorts and they fit perfectly! With slight modifications -ie: cuffs need to be wider to fit over the hands -learned that the hard way....:sweat

BTW I have them all dressed!!!! I just finished yesterday and their wigs came in too. Now I need to work on the wigs and style them, ha, ha, I'm not good at that. I still need to make socks and shoes, but no more nakie dolls! I'll take pictures today.

49. oh well done kurogane - I look forward to pics! :fangirl: I think I might just do some valuable 'research' and see which YOSD size clothing I can BUY for my gang now - the laziness bug has bitten me :blush

50. elve -Believe me, if I had the funds, I would have bought their outfits! I really like the DZ school girl outfits, but they are out of my budget right now, especially since I need five (sigh).

51. oh yes - those are steep kurogane! Well I've splurged on etsy, with Poinsettia04, since her leggings fitted Miss Kitty on that 27cm body - The 3 Nyus now have leggings and tops on the way, for less than £25. Not sure how to dress the 2 boys yet - I've run out of money anyway now so they'll have to wait patiently a bit longer! :)

52. Ballet - She' adorable! I've not taken any recent photos of my Moon, but I'm off to a doll meet this weekend so there shall be photos then.

53. *waves at Ballet* Hey you ^_^

Congrats on your wee dragon -Gurlzilla is awesome!

54. elve - Thank you so much! I am glad to hear that you have them out, the dragons are so cute! ^w^ I am beyond the moon happy with my little dragon! I['m sorry to hear about your camera >.< but hey a new camera doesn't sound too bad ^^ I have a Nikon COOLPIX S5300 that I got during thanksgiving for a low price so maybe another holiday will be up and it will be low again.

kurogane- I want to see photos too ^^. I am trying to make clothing for all of my dolls too @.@

Quiet and Insane - Thank you so much! I hope you have tons of fun at the meet and share lots of photos ^^

acidquill - -happy wave- HELLO! how are you? Thank you so much! ^____^ and tonight Godzilla comes out >3 woot woot!

55. I just worked on a DZ Moon for a friend of mine. I just mailed her back to her today. I'll pester her to post her girl to this thread. She's a DC Alberta body hybrid, and it works amazingly!

56. thanks Ballet :) Well I got my new camera (sony cybershot DSC W710) because the reviews said it was easy to use....Tried it out yesterday and there is NO MACRO - which is all I ever used on my olympus camedia (a brilliant camera) - in fact I only used super-macro, which was great - in spite of only having 3mp. Anyway.....lots of fiddling around with the settings on this new one - I have made the pics to save as A4 instead of A3, cancelled the auto anti-blur (which made it fuzzy!) chosen the 'knife & fork' icon, as the nearest thing to macro (they reckon you might want to photograph your food :? ) and chosen low light no flash mode permanently, as I never ever use flash - hate it. Sooooooo.....The pics are total rubbish, but I've tweaked them in photoshop elements 5 to up the light/contrast/saturation/warmth/size, so the colours are true to life - And here are my 2 dragons presiding over their captive band of children :XD: See the desperation on Mika's face (far right) his eyes imploring me to rescue him! And they have already eaten miss kitty's head!!! :o No messing with these 2 - they want the babies for dessert.....Here's hoping it's a half decent photo, because I've done all I can with that camera.....

oh that's not too bad - it's a bit grainy but anyway :sweat I took it in very low light this morning, and I think my beloved camedia would have refused to focus at all in that light! So 'the kids' are all Mikas and Nyus - 2 Apple babies - I stupidly bought duplicates when I was a dealer, because I thought they were adorable and everyone was bound to agree with me! :doh So now the 2 tan ones are called Bhikhu and Bhavni - The 2 white ones are called Jane and ....Michael (Banks - from Mary Poppins) but 'Mika' seems to be his preferred name! Pink Nyu is Rose (my son adopted pink Mika). Apples are Pippin (from my favourite apple - Cox's Orange Pippin!) and Poppy - They are both boys but who cares about that right? *sees a dress opportunity* The little ndoll coco is called Erin - I've had her ages. Miss Kitty has a head on order - don't panic, the dragons didn't really eat it!!! :XD: She's called Purdy. It's the dragons which are stumping me for names....Originally I called them Ermintrude and Edelweiss - but they were styled as little girls back then - I'm not sure who they are now I've changed out their blue eyes for purple and turquoise ones?

So far I've ordered clothes for Pippin, Poppy, Rose, Jane and Bhavni, from etsy sellers - Nothing for the boys yet - I'm not sure what will fit them regarding pants? Do normal 1/6 pants fit them? I tried the dollheart suit which my Yogr was wearing on Mika, and it hung off him - way too big - and it's quite small cut too. The girls are just wearing leggings and tops for now - I just want to get them all dressed! And wigged out!!! An even bigger decision than clothing :sweat

57. Been wigging dolls all day! I'd rather not buy any for now, so they are just 'making do' with ones I have in the box - whether they are the right size or not (none of them are!) - so they're either stretched to breaking point, or falling off their heads too big - Never mind - dolls continually change and evolve in this house, so I guess they'll be different again next month! The dragons seem to have regressed to babyhood :aheartbea

58. Hahaha, Iza, I'll definitely have to share photos! You did an amazing job, as always! C: And to everyone else: I am the friend with the DZ Moon/DC Alberta hybrid! I love her! Her name is Zeriya, and I'll be sharing her when she is done! I should have her put together by Monday! So excited! (First hybrid). I wasn't sure if I was allowed to post her here or not! Good to know I can!

And Elve, that pink wig on your Moon is SO CUTE, oh goodness. The other is as well on the Star, but that pink wig just keeps grabbing my attention. So baby like and super adorable! <3

Also, while Zeriya has been away, I put the Star head on her body:
[IMG]Borrowing Zeriya's body... by Omnomimmamonster, on Flickr

I think the proportions are nice and work together, but I wanted to make the Star a boy on the DC Amos' body. I am thinking the Star's face is too childlike to get away with it. I may end up just making her a grumpy girl. She can body share with Zeriya until I can get another Alberta body! What do y'all think? :3 Is the Star head too childlike? Perhaps with the right faceup (s)he could look older, but I don't know! I'd love to hear other opinions! :3
